I HAD to read this book because I recently finished the first book in this series, The Friend Zone. Okay, guys - I am absolutely in love with this series. And this second book is THE BOMB. It is so funny at times that I cracked up laughing out loud. All of Sloane's voice mails to Jason while she had the dog were hilarious.

Abby Jimenez writes believable and relatable books that I really enjoy. I honestly felt like I was right there alongside all the characters and I felt their joy, pain, heartbreak, elation, confusion, etc.

This is the story of Sloane - the friend whose fiancee tragically died at the end of book 1. Sloane thought she would never fall in love again because she had already had her chance at a HEA that didn't end so well. Tucker the dog played a key role in this book in introducing Sloane to his owner, Jason. Jason was smitten with Sloane from the very beginning, but when Sloan finds out who Jason really is, will she be able to continue a relationship with him?

I cannot say enough how much I love this book. I will be looking for more Abby Jimenez books in the future.

I was provided this book in exchange for an honest review. The opinions stated above are mine without biases.

This is a review of an extended preview of this book

This is an absolutely adorable fun silly flirty book with a really cute pup at the center of it all. Sloane is stuck in her grief having lost her beloved fiancé. Jason, a musician on his way to the top entrusted a friend with the care of his pup(fur child). His career is on the rise and his dog is running wild. He made a really bad choice in picking a caretaker. Not only does she lose the dog almost immediately, she puts forth almost no effort to find the dog and leaves town on business without letting Jared know or returning a single phone call made by Sloane. Thankfully Sloane is a really good person with a kind open heart for dogs. Humans not so much right now, but dogs, absolutely. The pup hops into her car when she almost runs him over. She takes him to the vet and leaves a message for Jared. And then another message and does so every day for 2 weeks. Some of them are a riot! She finally hears back from Jared. who is on the other side of the world. And so begins their relationship via text and eventually actually speaking! So much fun. As stated earlier I was only given access to a preview so am headed over to audible.com now to get the whole thing!! Its definitely perfect for some light hearted romance and a great dog.

I can't wait to read the rest of this story!

Sloane's heartbreaking loss was experienced in the first book of this series (The Friend Zone), but it doesn't seem as if we're going to have to relive that tragedy. I'm more than a little glad about that - it was awful enough the first time. Sloane's sadness is still apparent, but her text exchanges with Jason are heartwarming and hilarious. Fingers crossed for a fun and uplifting story of finding love when - and where - you least expect it!

The Happy Ever After Playlist (preview from Netgalley)
This is your light romance read.
It's done in a way that is lighthearted with a smidge of fun. I only read the preview so, I don't know how the story completely progresses.

Even though I didn't favor any of the characters, completely. I wasn't rooting for the romance but that could be because it was too soon to really get into it. But, I am curious to see where the story goes.
I liked the dual perspective.
I like a relationship that starts off by random texts and phone calls. Strangers to lovers is always good.
Plus, the way the two characters meet is not something I've read before.
I would probably just pick this up from the library.

2.75 - 3 star rating

Thank you SO MUCH Netgalley for giving me this arc!!!

The Friend Zone has easily been one of my absolute favorite reads of this year. So when I found out there was another book coming out, I freaked out... just a little.

This book was absolutely wonderful!!! Abby Jimenez continues to write beautiful stories that suck me in immediately and make me sad to put it down for even a short amount of time. Her giftedness for writing characters that are so intensely relatable will never fail to astonish me.

Sloan already had my heart from The Friend Zone and Jason grabbed my heart immediately. Sloan has been mourning for 2 years and you can see and truly feel the toll it’s taken on her. Underneath the depression though, lies a fun, spirited, energetic, and loving woman. Jason... where to begin. His patience and sincerity was insanely attractive. Not to mention he’s just hot. So there’s that. But his heart and intentions and just WHO he was, was amazing. I fell in love instantly with his flirtyness. Because... it was impossible not to.

This story was so fun and lighthearted, yet breached such heartbreaking emotions that you couldn’t help but feel the same pain these characters were feeling. It was also so fun to see Kristen and Josh again! Love and miss reading about them so this was just perfect. Everything was beautiful to read and I can’t wait for the rest of Abby’s fans to read another absolutely wonderful book!

P.S. I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend and suggest reading The Friend Zone first!!! It will absolutely enhance the reading experience!

There was a lot I liked about this book, and I adored the beginning. It`s a fast, easy and light read with heart-warming content and a writing style that I enjoyed.

The Happily Ever Playlist tells the story of Sloan, an artist grieving the loss of her fiance two years after his passing. When she almost runs over Tucker, an adorable Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever, she brings him home and cares for him. She tries reaching his owner, who is impossible to get hold of, and she decided to keep Tucker.

Just as she has made her decision, Jason reaches out to her. He`s a musician destined to be the next big hit, and after being across the ocean, lands in LA and wants his dog back.

It started of great. The introduction to Sloan and her past, the scene with Tucker the dog was cute from start to finish, and I liked the texting and phone calls between Sloan and Jason. I thought the description of grief and the entire process of moving on and accepting good things in your life after loss was well done. I loved the entire playlist idea and the songs linked to the chapters. I even liked all the celebrity drama as I found it entertaining, frustrating and humorous to read.

There was so much I loved about this book and I truly wanted to keep loving it, but I just couldn`t connect with Sloan and Jason as a couple. I liked them together at first, the banter and the challenging and the exploring of each other, the taking and giving and curiosity, but I couldn`t bear the insta love from when they met. For me, it all seemed to go too fast, too deep, and I couldn`t bring myself to enjoy it. Jason was too in love too fast, overbearing, and while I liked that Sloan kept true to herself and her grief, until she didn`t. Like, I want to buy the whole insta love, super romantic "sacrifice everything" for love kind of love, but I didn`t. The relationship felt a little too toxic for me, and I kept wishing it was more of a slow-burn, more careful, more thoughtful.

This is the sequel to The Friend Zone. I loved The Friend Zone and have been so excited to read The Happy Ever After Playlist. I could not stop after the preview so continued reading the rest of the book.

The Happy Ever After Playlist is the story of Sloan finding love after losing her fiance. Sloan finds a dog and starts texting the owner which quickly turn flirty and personal. This book was so funny and lighthearted with some deep parts. I really enjoyed it and was so happy to read about Sloan finding love after loss.

The Happy Ever After Playlist | review.

Genre: Contemporary Romance.

Rating: Five stars.

Y’all this book has it all- an adorable dog, a strong heroine and a sexy Rock Star. It’s the perfect combination. Two years after losing her finance, Sloan is still a shadow of herself. One day, she finds a trouble-making pup who makes her feel alive again. After two weeks of unanswered texts, Tucker’s owner reaches out and wants Tucker back. Sloan isn’t about to give up her dog without a fight… But what if this guy really loves Tucker? Their flirty texts soon turn into long conversations and before long they are falling for each other without ever meeting in person.

First off, I stayed up until 2AM reading this book if that tells you anything! It is adorable and sweet and perfect for binging.

This is the second novel in The Friend Zone series, but I didn’t read the first one. I’ve heard that it dealt with infertility in a problematic way from some very good sources and this girl doesn’t have time for any of that. The Happy Ever After Playlist could easily be a stand alone novel.

I enjoyed this fun, lighthearted read immensely. Their struggles with Jason’s tour and fame really added a lot of debt to this book.

Be sure to read this one if you haven’t already!

Really exciting read. The premise was what immediately caught my attention and it definitely delivered. The main problem in the book was pretty easy to predict and it Jason did seem a little too angsty for a twenty-nine year old man but it was otherwise a really fun read.

After reading an extended preview of The Happy Ever After Playlist by Abby Jimenez, I'm already hooked and ready to read more. The characters were warm and the book felt light, yet dealt with heavier topics than are typical in the romance genre, such as grief. I look forward to reading the rest of the book and seeing if and how Sloan gets her 'happy ever after' after the loss she's endured.
Many thanks to Forever (Grand Central Publishing) and NetGalley for the advance copy.

I loved The Friend Zone so I could not wait to read this! It definitely didn’t disappoint! Sloans struggles to get over Brandon were realistic and relatable. I loved Jason’s patience with her and how he helped her face her grief to get over Brandon. The reason it is a 4 star for me is the chapters where Jason allowed Sloan to believe he had slept with Hope felt a little forced and trifled. The ending though was swoon worthy! There were many parts that made me swoon and reminded me why I love this genre! Though The Friend Zone is still probably my favorite I am so glad Sloan got her happy ever after!

I'd seen so much hype about this book over on Instagram and figured it wasn't for me, as it features someone getting over the death of their partner and that seemed a bit heavy for my taste... Well, I was wrong. This 6-chapter preview has me totally caught up in Sloan and Jason and wondering where their story will go next. It's such a cute start to a story, with a dog bringing them together (Sloan rescues Jason's dog after it jumps through her sunroof, but he can't come get it as he's overseas. They connect and start talking after she agrees to keep the dog until he gets back). The conversations between the two are so good, and the connection is already sparking. The dog is also absolutely adorable, you can't go wrong with a cute dog! It was also lovely to see how her friends supported her. I also liked that each chapter starts with a song recommendation, now I have some music to look up!

While it does deal with some heavy themes, so far it seems like the book deals with them in an uplifting way, and I'd like to see where that goes. It may not be the most fluffy premise, but death of a partner is something that a lot of people go through, so telling the story of finding love after loss is something that could definitely be helpful to many and is an important perspective to be represented. I've placed a hold on it at my library and can't wait to find out where the story goes!

The first half of this romantic sweetness is enticing. Sloan and Jason are brought together by...Tucker or is it fate? The second half of this story will be an interesting one. Can't wait to read it. Thanks for the chance to read a preview.

Laugh out loud funny! Leave it to a dog, Tucker, to get two people talking, Sloan and Jason. One person needs to come out of a shell, another needs to learn to relax and slow down. This romantic comedy is for everyone! Although I only received the first six chapters from NetGalley, it's a must read!

While driving to her late fiance's grave, Sloan finds a stray dog and takes him in. The dog's owner ends up being a musician who is doing music for a movie in Australia. Once they get into contact, some flirting ensues and, I"m assuming, eventually a relationship.
It was okay. Definitely a cute little chick-lit, contemporary romance. I personally didn't vibe very well with the writing style and I'm not sure if I'll be picking up the complete book but I will definitely keep it in mind if I'm ever in need of a rom-com. I think the insta-love just isn't working for me right now.
