I’m so excited to finally get one of the Wentworth sisters’ HEA and her duke sounds so intriguing! I will definitely be getting a copy of the book.

Lady Althea and Lord Nathaniel story sound very interesting. I can't want to read the rest of the story. There sounds to be a mystery within the story.

I received a complimentary preview of this via Netgalley. This is my honest unbiased opinion.

I just read my first historical romance recently so I’m slowly starting to get more into this genre so I was glad to be able to read the first 4 chapters of this story and I think I will definitely read the full book.

I do believe you have to be in the right kind of mood for Grace Burrowes. I've read and enjoyed several of her previous works, including two from this series, and whilst I do like her slow, wit-filled writing, I can see how it might not appeal to all readers. It does seem very fitting for historical romance however and I'd encourage any HR lovers to give her writing a try!

In this preview of A Duke By Any Other Name we are introduced to Nathaniel and Althea, and Burrowes does a wonderful job of making them unique and fully realised already. The story is intriguing, I'm already very curious about the secrets both characters hide and will be interested to find out how the tale plays out.

Overall Burrowes does a wonderful job of setting up the story and I'm very excited to find out how it continues!

Thank you to NetGalley and Forever for the free extended preview copy—all opinions are my own!

This preview has me completely sold. As soon as I finish writing this review I’m off to purchase! I loved that so quickly, I felt depth of character and promisingly complex backstory in both of our leads—Nathaniel, who’s clearly hiding the reality of his family life and his brother’s condition, and Althea, who is very much still finding her way as a woman and autonomous adult after a deeply traumatic childhood. I love a grumpy duke and Nathaniel is no exception, but I love even more a heroine who takes him in stride and isn’t ruffled by his gruffness. These two already have crackling chemistry after only a few chapters and so much story lies ahead! I can’t wait to see how this continues!

I started this book not realizing that I had read Quinn and Jane's story and LOVED it. The story is different than your usual tropes, my only complaint is towards the end, it really dragged. It could have ended much sooner.

This was one of those books where I felt like I had a lot of personal insights as well. At times Althea's constant retelling of her traumas became a little too much. Like did she really need to tell every character that she grew up poor and then I realized that it's something I do. Growing up poor and then having money is like this badge of courage that you want people to know - because there are all these extra layers than what people see. So this story really hit close to home for me. Overall it had a really great first couple of chapters and setup.

Lady Althea Wentworth a duke’s spinster sister never encountered her neighbor a reclusive Nathaniel Rothmere, the dreadful duke, the Duke of Rothhaven. That is until Nathaniel arrives on her doorstep to tell her to keep to keep her pigs out of his orchard. What a pair, you can see the sparks fly and I love with witty banter between them right from the start. Nathaniel is playing the Dreadful Duke role to protect family secrets, you’ll love his devoted servants they’re witty and funny. I have voluntarily read and reviewed this preview of the book.

Nathaniel and Althea's story is an interesting romance. I can't wait to read the whole thing.
Filled with a mystery about the man and a poignant story this title is awesome.
I received a complimentary preview of this tale from Netgalley and am leaving this review voluntarily.

The characters are interesting, and I want to find out more about them and their past. I am also always a sucker for a Victorian romance, so this was a truly enjoyable extended preview.

Grace Burrowes has another winner on her hands. Lady Althea, verbally harassed by the ton, has taken refuge in Yorkshire but she hasn't given up on her dreams of companionship and a family so she finds the courage to ask Nathaniel, a local duke, for help. What I love is that Lady Althea, though scarred by her ordeal, isn't letting fear stop her from trying to achieve her dreams. She's not retreating and letting life go by, which is easy to do, I know, I've suffered from social anxiety for years. Nathaniel is an interesting character and I hope to learn more about him. There are some interesting side characters are well. I look forward to reading the rest of the book .

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the extended preview in return for an honest review.

4.5 stars.

This book is beautiful. Both the hero and the heroine had tragic childhoods, and both are still suffering from the effects of said childhood.

Lady Althea may be the daughter of a duke, but she is ridiculed by her peers whenever she attends a London season. To this effect, Althea decides to forgo the upcoming London season. Instead, she decides to remain in the country. Though Althea decides to stay in the country, she is lonely and devises a plan to receive a visit from Nathaniel at her home where she may ask a favor of him.

Nathaniel is the son of a duke, and for personal reasons, has decided never to wed. Nathaniel can best be described as surely and goes out of his way to alienate himself from others. When made to call upon Althea at her home, Nathaniel is disappeared and makes his feelings known to all.

What ensues is two wounded individuals leaning on each other. Both Althea and Nathaniel learn from the other.

This is where the extended preview ends. If the rest of the book is as good, this book will appeal to many. I can not wait to read the rest of the book.

I reviewed an extended preview of this book and while I enjoyed reading the few chapters that were included, I don't know that I would rush out to buy the book. This is a new author for me and I felt the writing and the story decent, but the first few chapters were not so engaging that I am eager to run out and buy the book. I had difficulty identifying with the heroine and feel strongly that I would need to read the other books in the series that predate this one to truly understand this character.

This book would be great for people who have read this series and who enjoy what seems to be a marriage of convenience trope and a two outcasts coming together..

IThank you to Netgalley and Forever (Grand Central Publishing) for the ARC.

Please note this was an approved ARC for the extended preview version of this book so I did not have a chance to read the whole novel (but part of it). #ADukeByAnyOtherName #NetGalley

I was able to get a snippet of this story. From what I read, it was pretty good with likable characters. I’ve read this author before and do enjoy her books. I can’t wait to read the rest of the book.

I struggled with this one as I really like the authors other books. As with many of the reviews here, I just couldnt get into this 'preview', it didnt capture me and make me want to read more. I really like Grace Burrowes' books and writing, she has a very polished style and I've enjoyed her other novels but this one failed for me. From the start, it didnt capture my attention and I really disliked the character of Duke Rothhaven and Althea didnt make me want to like her either. Where it ended didnt leave me wanting more or even caring about what happens, maybe should have been better edited to hook a reader.

A Duke by Any Other Name by Grace Burrowes is book 4 of the Rogues to Riches series and though most books in a series suggest they can be read as a standalone book I would suggest at least reading the first book, My One and Only Duke. This allows one to get the back story of Althea who is featured there and helps provide a clearer picture of her story and the why’s of her struggle which is where this book picks up. The events where those of the ton mocked her when she attempted to make her coming out into society are there and you get to know her and the siblings and other characters that later feature in the series.

Upon being familiar with that book one knows that Althea Wentworth is the impoverished sister of a Duke. It is this background that causes her lack of confidence in society as a whole. Enters the neighbor the Duke of Rothhaven, Nathaniel whom she is hoping might be able to help her navigate the Ton. The problem is that Nathaniel doesn’t entertain and is not into going out and about in the ton at all because there is a secret being harbor on the Rothhaven estate I don’t want to give the plot of the story away so one would have to read it to find out what exactly is underfoot.

Regardless though Althea works her way into his life, and in the process, he discovers that perhaps his plans of staying solo needed some serious reconsideration. Thus it turns out that while it was the heroine that went looking for guidance to be accepted into his world where he felt the need to stay isolated, she amazingly helps him to break out instead. Her goal was that she might find a husband and have the family she sees as the goal of the future and he that had no views of a future started yearning for one as well. Overall it is a very sweet book that shows the dedication stemming from the love and responsibility of family.

I was given an extended preview to read from Netgalley in exchange of my open and honest feedback.

I was disappointed to discover that this was not the entire book, but only a few chapters (perhaps I didn't understand what "extended preview" meant?). I enjoyed reading the few chapters that were included, but I have not rushed out to buy the book. The writing was good, the story decent, but the first few chapters were not so engaging that I just HAD to finish this book with all of the other full books in my TBR pile. If I see this at my library one day I would pick it up and finish it, but the story wasn't compelling enough that I'm going to rush out to buy it. Maybe it's because it isn't my favorite trope with the hero who has to punish himself for crimes others committed; I don't mind the backstory of the heroine as I feel this is quite likely something that happened often in history and a woman would be ostracized for not being born to the gentry. I give the first few chapters 3 stars as it wasn't bad, but it wasn't a story I just HAD to finish, either.

This book is about Lady Althea Wentworth trying to find a way into the local society, and enlisting Nathaniel, Duke of Rothhaven help, and navigating through society, and their connection.

What worked for this book was the humor and characters, there are multiple moments that make a reader laugh. Additionally, the main protagonists, Althea, and Nathaniel are not typical type characters people generally see in romance but have real-life characteristics.

Overall, it was a good read, and I would say this book is for those who like romances with non-traditional characters, and humor.
