This commercial thriller was a bit heavy handed but I could see where it was trying to go. There was very little subtlety here; the author made sure to pound every point home to try to build the suspense, pointing out every raised eyebrow and side glance in a way that didn't leave room for much nuance. But, if you're looking for a light and jaunty beach read thriller, then this one is a decent choice.

I flew through this and was captivated from start to finish. Foley brilliantly utilizes multiple narrators and varying time periods to create tension and suspense. I also loved the remote, stormy Irish setting with the ocean and power outages creating excellent atmosphere. I predict that this will be a huge 2020 hit.

I can finally see all the hype! This was a fantastic mystery that had me in the edge of my seat the whole time! This is also a new author for me which I enjoyed. There was a twist which really got me!!! I loved all the character development and the location description ! A must read!!!!

Lucy has a way of making everyone a suspect, and the effect is absolutely enthralling. Her settings are also spectacular. From the moment the reader arrives on this island, they are unsettled. Even the island itself seems it could have committed the murder. There aren't a lot of likable characters here, but that's what makes Lucy's writing masterful - because you can't get enough of them anyway. We may have guessed the ending a little sooner than we'd like to, but it was still a suspenseful, entertaining ride!

A wedding on a remote ,non tropical island, sounds like trouble and sure enough. I enjoyed the change in perspectives and back in forth between pre wedding and wedding, kept me questing on who the victim was. The author did a good job keeping the reader on their toes.

W O W this book blew me away! I found the beginning tops bit slow and almost lost interest (hence the 4 instead of 5 stars) but did it pay off in the end! I did not see ANY of the twists coming, and boy did they keep coming. As soon as you thought you got the big reveal, BOOM something else happened. And it all tied together flawlessly in the end *chefs kiss*

Oh, what a ride this book was. A group of guests gather on an island for a wedding and chaos is slowly unleashed. Friends are friends and strangers are strangers, or are they? Secrets from the past hesitantly come to light and the island gradually takes on a slightly sinister feel.
This is my first book by this author and it definitely won't be my last. She deftly wove the individual character's stories together and created a rich, multi-layered puzzle for the reader to ponder. I adore puzzles and while I was distracted she slipped in some important clues that I didn’t notice, but made everything fit together quite nicely at the end.
The characters were cleverly portrayed and their motives well-hidden. I enjoyed them for what they brought to the richness of the story. The setting was hauntingly beautiful, but so subtly described that the reader only gets small hints that something may be amiss. The ending was surprising, but not shocking as all the pieces fell into place and you had that aha moment. I love that moment as for me it means an incredibly satisfying conclusion.
I listened to this book on librofm and I really enjoyed what the variety of actors brought to the story. It was very well done and I recommend the audiobook for a delightful listening experience.

Thoroughly enjoyable mystery in the style of Agatha Christie and Ruth Ware. Chapters are short and kept me reading much later than I had planned to. Bonus, it was a stormy night.

Solidly written mystery that takes place over 48 hours on a remote island off the coast of Ireland. Lots of suspects with a motive to kill the victim. Keeps you guessing until the end.

A high profile celebrity wedding taking place on a secluded island off the coast of Ireland sounds like a picture-perfect event until you meet the bride, the groom, and their wedding party. The story opens in the midst of the evening reception with a storm raging outside and a party raging inside, then the lights go out and a scream is heard outside. Told from alternating perspectives and jumping between the present and the past, the reader gets the inside scoop on all of the secrets, grudges, and mixed feelings that the wedding party are keeping from each other. But two questions will keep you guessing until the end: who is the murderer and who has been murdered... Foley's clever complex plot and complex characters are reminiscent of an Agatha Christie mystery. Readers of Ruth Ware and Lisa Jewell will love this book!

This was a great summer thriller! As somebody who's planning a wedding right now, this was a spooky on-topic read for me. I enjoyed the shifting perspectives and the variety of characters, though the "twist" at the end wasn't all that surprising, honestly. That said, I enjoyed it!

I am a sucker for a multi-POV mystery and having loved Foley's The Hunting Party last year, I was thrilled to dive into The Guest List. While TGL starts out as more of a slow burn, once it gets going, there is nothing slow about this book. Shifting perspectives between various members of the wedding party, guests, staff and family, we get offered insights from such different perspectives on each of the players that everyone is practically a suspect. The Guest List had moments that I truly found jawdropping and the POVs made this a quick read for me that I couldn't put down. Looking forward to more from Foley in the future!

It’s the perfect place for a murder. Family and friends gather on an island off the coast of Ireland to celebrate the marriage of two people that haven’t know each other for very long. Chapter by chapter we hear from the guests and realize that many have a motive for murder. This is a fun which one dunnit.

Destination wedding for the rich and famous told by five? different points of view. Not everyone loves the bride and groom and there's some serious history with all the players involved. You know from the beginning someone's dead, but the who and why is the real story. Basically: if you are a horrible person...you might end up dead. The multiple POVs were effective and not confusing at all. While the ending was a little implausible, it was still a suspenseful read. I think this one almost lived up to it's hype. Recommended.

I really liked how it was written from several different points of view with the alternating flashbacks and wedding party. It really kept me guessing til the end. Though it was a slow start for me, you become enthralled in the mysteries and tragedies surrounding the main characters. What happened at boarding school so long ago? What other secrets are being kept? I was surprised until the very end and am not embarrassed to say that I did not figure out who the killer was until the very moment. This was a fantastic read, especially if you like Ruth Ware and Catherine McKenzie.

This "locked room" mystery on a remote Irish island is told in multiple voices. Readers will be transported back and forth between the wedding night and the first-person point of view of six characters. Their backstories and the creepy, watery setting make this a compelling experience. The "what happened" is drawn out wonderfully in the main plot while the characters’ pasts complicate the puzzle even more. I listened to the audiobook.

Everyone warned me I’d stay up way too late to finish this thriller and they were correct. This fast paced mystery, set on a remote Irish island, is chock full of secrets, resentments and ultimately suspects as to who will be the murderer of this truly deserving victim.

Foley sets an ominous tone from the start of The Guest List, where readers are swept away to an Irish island with an eerie past. Though it features a large cast of characters, we are able to get a glimpse into their lives as the novel develops over what is supposed to be a celebratory weekend. There are many well-paced plot twists and thriller readers won't be disappointed.

While I flew through this book, I was not invested in any of the characters enough to care about the ending. I think that was because there were so many characters and so much going on in the book. I could see this working better in film and bet this will end up a movie. However, the writing was good and I'm looking forward to checking out the hunting party by this author.
