I did not read the previous books, so read it as a stand alone, but the author gave plenty of backstory so that this was not a problem.

This was a very amusing story about 3 friends that grew up together in a small Maine town, Port Snow. Eric and Eve Roberts are twins and Reid is Eric's best friend. Reid and Eve have crushed on each other for as long as they remember, not realizing that the other felt the same way, but there is Eric and the bro code that has kept them apart. Reid has 3 boisterous brothers and a sister, who provide lots of comedy to the story. Reid and Eris both learned to love cooking at the Knightly home kitchen, went off to culinary school together and opened a restaurant in Boston. But they needed someone to handle the business part of the restaurant, Bar 79, and hired Janelle, Eric's girlfriend as the business manager. The Knightly brothers went to New Orleans to celebrate Brig's 21 birthday and crossed a old palm reader, who they believe put a curse on them, about love. That same evening, Eric calls to tell Reid that Janelle had stolen all their money, had not been paying bills and empty all their bank accounts, but could not be prosecuted, because she was a partner. This part did not make sense, because why would the business manager be a partner and even if she was, she could still be prosecuted. But they had to close and both fell into despair.

Meanwhile, Eve had dreams of her own, but stayed at home taking care of her parents, working and slowly taking classes to finish her own degree in business management. Three years after Bar 79 closed, Reid has not done any cooking, is living in a boat catching lobster and feeling lost. But when the anniversary of the death of Mr Roberts and Eric does not come home, Reid is there for Eve. They slowly start secret dating, and they are good for each other. But when an opportunity arrives for the three of them to work together, Eric threatens to blow it up if Reid doesn't break it off with Eve.

I liked the characters and the story, as I especially like second chance stories. Great banter between the siblings and the various couples. But I felt that Reid and Eve's relationship was one in which he would have told Eve the truth and they would have handled Eric together. Also, half the book seemed to be sex scenes, which was a bit too much for me.

I read an ARC from NetGalley.com. this is my unbiased and voluntary review.

That Secret Crush by Meghan Quinn is such a good read, it's one of those books you don't want to put down.

The writing is well done, the storyline entertaining from start to end.
The characters Reid and Eve are likable, entertaining and their chemistry was smoking!

I highly recommend That Secret Crush!

I love Megan Quinn's writing and I'm always so grateful for her books, and this story doesn't disappoint. A great story check, two very likable characters easy to fall in love check, humor- lots of humor check, family drama check, hot exploding chemistry check and you got yourself an amazing book that you enjoy reading every page of it. Another great one of the series.
I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for NetGalley

I need to confess that I went into this one with sorta low expectations. I read the first two books in the series, and they didn’t really wow me. So imagine my delight when That Secret Crush was...delightful!

Reid Knightly once had a successful restaurant with his best friend Eric Roberts. But three years ago they trusted the wrong person and lost everything. Reid then tucked his tail and went home to Port Snow, and now makes his living pulling lobster traps and selling his catch to the Lighthouse Inn. It sucks being the family failure, but whatchya gunna do?

Eve Roberts, AKA Eric’s twin sister, put her dreams on hold to support her brother and help their ailing parents. She runs the Lighthouse Inn, and has been secretly working on getting her bachelor’s degree online in business. She’s also had a life-long crush on Reid.

After a night fueled by liquid courage, Reid finally gives into his long-standing desire for Eve and makes a move. Eve not only encourages him, but throws down her own gauntlet once they get back to her apartment. Things go well between them until Reid has to make some decisions about his future, and they have to tell Eric about their relationship. Then all hell pretty much breaks loose.

Despite not liking either the friends-to-lovers trope OR the best friend’s little sister trope (which we have both of in this book), I really liked this story. Ms. Quinn did a fantastic job of staying away from the things that make me crazy - and never make sense to me - about both tropes. For once, we didn’t have to listen to the hero and heroine go on and on about how they’ll ruin their friendship by becoming lovers (shouldn’t you be best friends with your lover???), but here...they had a couple drinks, got brave, and decided to go for it. There was no looking back - well, at least not at first. And Eric’s objection to Reid and Eve being together didn’t have anything to do with Eric thinking Reid was a bad person for his sister. So bravo to the author for taking a fresh approach to tired tropes!

I’m a big fan of small town, close-knit-family romances. Port Snow was in its usual form with quirky characters and Nosy Nellies all around. And the Knightly family is a blast - hands down the best parts of this book were the text exchanges between the Knightly siblings.

I really enjoyed the hero and heroine, as well. Reid was cocky and inappropriately hilarious. But also, it was often too much - like he didn’t know when to turn off the outlandish behavior and maybe behave like an adult. But I loved how he went to his brothers to work things out and get his head screwed on straight.

Eve was freakin fantastic. When she and Reid have their first big conflict, instead of treating him the way he’d treated her (being standoffish and distant) she knows that will just make things worse and won’t solve anything.

“I know that he’s going through something, and the last thing he needs from me is drama.”

Can we give the young woman a standing ovation?! Because I love a woman who doesn’t just act on her immediate feelings.

But she also didn’t keep putting up with Reid’s crap and made him grovel to win her back. The final scene where the whole Knightly family shows up and Reid apologizes is equal parts hilarious and heartwarming.

There was an abundance of laugh out loud humor all throughout That Secret Crush. Somehow it managed to be over-the-top silly, yet didn’t come off as ridiculous or slap stick. It was bust my gut, I’m having a hard time breathing funny. Even the whole “love curse” situation (from the first book - which happened when the four Knightly brothers were celebrating the youngest brother’s 21st birthday, spent an inebriated night in New Orleans, and caused the ire of a fortune teller, thus being “cursed” in love until their hearts mature) wasn’t as prevalent or goofy as it was in the previous two books.

It doesn’t happen often, but this book far exceeded my expectations. When I finished book two of this series I wasn’t sure if I’d keep reading...especially since I knew this one would have a trope I don’t generally like. I laughed through a good deal of this book. But I also cried, too, and I love a book that takes me on ups and downs before leaving me with a big smile. And now I’m looking forward to the final book in this series. Fingers crossed it’s as delightfully entertaining as That Secret Crush!

I love this series and the Knightly brothers. I cannot wait to read the next one and finally let Brig have a chance for happiness.

This one is probably my least fave of the stories so far, but that is because I just didnt love Reid as much as his other brothers. However, it is still a great book with engaging characters, an amazing town and so much heart.

Highly recommend the entire series to all contemporary romance fans.

Reid & Eve's story was a fun one to read!
I enjoyed reading about another Knightly brother and the "curse" that they feel all has messed up their lives when it comes to love.
This book is funny, sweet and an emotional ride on these characters finding their true love.

DNF'd 40%

Reid's the biggest cry baby I've read in a long time. His character was weak and childish. If he bumped up against something that made him uncomfortable or he didn't want to talk about (his failed career and business, for instance) he pouted and reverted to sex. Everything was all about sex to him. It got tiresome.

We get it Reid. You're a failure. You're going no where with your life. You lost it all and have no gumption to get back on the horse. It's too hard to deal with and face life...reality... yada yada

Now I'm not saying a man can't be down on himself or have some rough moments, they are human as well. But Reid, with him I felt like I was reading about one of my petulant teenagers. Not a grown ass man. He didn't want to help himself and by a smidge away from the half way point it didn't seem like that was happening any time soon.

Maybe he got better, I don't know. And I don't have the desire or patience to find out. Bless his heart.

Eve seemed like a great, well rounded character. At least from what I could gather in the amount I read. I didn't get to any tension or confrontation between them to see if she became a doormat who automatically forgives. In the scenes I read she had some spitfire. I really liked her. But sadly she couldn't carry the book by herself and over come her asinine not so better half.

All I gotta say is it had to be true love on her end. Anyway, if you decide to read this I hope you have a better time of it than I did.

That's a lot of words to say I hated this hero.

I don't know if it's because I'm enamored with the Knightly brothers (and their family) as a whole, or what, but this reading experience kept me engaged a lot more than the previous two books. I'm not gonna lie, Reid got on my nerves quite a bit - the way he vacillates between cocky and debilitating self doubt is whiplash inducing. So, I guess that makes it easy to sympathize with Eve. I liked her as a heroine, but I do wish we'd gotten more of her as an individual as opposed to her as she relates to Reid, etc. I can tell you this though, I'm chomping at the bits for Brig's story! He seems so sweet and low key gullible and so desirous of an HEA - his love interest (I hope it is who I think it is) better be deserving! 4 out of 5 wine glasses.

I absolutely love to read a Meghan Quinn novel. This one was no exception. The Secret Crush had a wonderful storyline and I loved the ending.

So, I didn't enjoy Eve and Reid as much as I thought I would. Meghan's writing style is just as appealing in this one as in the others. I just didn't get the same oomph from this couple. The sex was super hot and Reid was adorable but I didn't care much for Eve. The romance/conflict just fell a little flat for me. I'm still very much looking forward to the next book though.

What a cute story! I have been absolutely LOVING this Getting Lucky series by Meghan Quinn. The Knightly Family is absolutely hilarious (those group texts!😂) and I love the setting in Maine.

I always get so excited to return to this community and The Lobster Landing, and Reid’s book was no exception. I love the witty banter and steamy romance that you know you’ll always get from a Meghan Quinn book. I can’t wait for Brig’s book, but I also don’t want this series to be over! Such a fun, heartwarming romance!

Thank you, NetGalley, for this book!

Meghan Quinn is one of my favorite authors of romantic comedy, and the Getting Lucky series is turning out to be one of my favorite series of hers. The Secret Crush is the third book, and it is a friends-to-lovers/best-friends-sister romance with humor, heat and heart. Reid had a falling out with Eve’s brother—his childhood best friend—but has continued his friendship with Eve. Both have secretly crushed on the other, and the sparks erupt when they decide to act on their attraction one night. There is plenty of push-and-pull, banter and sizzling chemistry as their relationship evolves, and you’ll love witnessing their fall into love. The adorable small town of Port Snow and Reid’s endearing family are prominently featured again in this installment, and both add something special to the story and highly entertaining romance. I can’t wait for the brother and the next book!

With each book I read by Meghan Quinn, I become more in awe of her writing talent. She truly has a gift! I’m a sucker for second chance romances and add in the small town and I’m hooked. And who better to give me all the feels with a little humor and a mix of sexiness than Meghan Quinn! It’s a sweet, sexy, swoon-worthy, MUST READ romance and I would HIGHLY recommend it! I fell absolutely head over heels in love with the quaint and charming small town of Port Snow, Maine, and all of its residents. Definitely be coming back for more. So if you love small-town romances that are rich in scenery, packed with sweetness, heat, and fun, and are after looking an easy reading escape, look no further than this book or any other book this very talented author has written!!
Loved it and definitely added to my favourites list of book I’ve read and by this author. Happy reading!!

Book 3 in the Getting Lucky series and it is a great addition. Loved this story. A friends to lovers’ romance and that is my jam. Love this type of romances. So much fun watching these couples fall in love and Eve and Reid were no different. Loved it. Eve and Reid were really good together. Great chemistry. I needed more, I didn’t want the story to end.

I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

I am in love with this series and I loved this book. Port Snow is one of my favorite fictional towns. Meghan Quinn is one of my favorite authors. This is one of my favorite books this year!

Oh my goodness, Reid is absolutely delicious, he's broody yet sweet, can cook, and is part of an amazing family! He has known Eve through his best friend, her twin for many years, but now that he's back in town, these two have a certain chemistry that picks up and is so hot. Can he get past his broken past to pave a bright future? If the sassy and smart Eve has anything to say about it he will. I loved the push and pull, I adored the story, and I love this family. Can't wait for more!

Reid is still wallowing in the failure of his big restaurant venture which means he can’t bear to cook anymore. He survives on take outs and visiting his parents. He no longer sees his best friend and partner Eric who is also scarred by their fall from grace. Eric’s twin sister Eve has always been off limits, but Reid finds that he can no longer resist her. Can Eve bring Reid back to life? Lovely to return to Port Snow with its quirky inhabitants, really enjoyed Reid’s story and can’t wait for Brigg’s. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this story. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Eve and Reid have known each other forever and they have the whole "I like him, but there is no way he likes me/I like her, but there is no way she likes me" thing going on. Eve is also the younger sister of his best friend, who he is pretty much estranged from so he feels as though he can't do anything about his crush.

Then one night, a snow storm makes them both throw caution to the wind and they spend the night together. Their chemistry is off the charts and they decide to secretly date. They want to see where things can go without people (aka Reid's family) getting all up in their business. A good idea? Probably not, but it definitely keeps things interesting.

Friends to lovers is one of my favorite tropes and when an author I love writes that story, I will always look forward to reading it. Meghan did a great job of building the relationship to something that was way more than just two friends hooking up with each other.

Once again we get some quality Knightly family fun in this book. I absolutely LOVE the group texts that they take part in. The exchanges are always hilarious and they even manage to impart some good advice every now and then.

There is only one more book left in this series and I cannot wait to read Brig's story! Throughout the series he has cracked me up with his sometimes over the top antics & feelings, so I can't wait to see what happens with him.

Reid and Eve have been friends since childhood. Eve is the sister of Reid’s best friend Eric. Reid and Eric had a fall out following a fail restaurant business. So, Reid moved back home to work on his family’s business, the same town where Eve is currently residing. The two have been crushing on each other for a while but they both kept it a secret aside from a lot of flirting and taunting. Reid is a dirty talker with no brain to mouth filter which made him quite a horndog the way he talks to Eve. Thankfully, Eve is such an easy going, fun, strong heroine – she can match Reid’s verbal sparring word for word. The chemistry is awesome - slow-burn turns steamy lovers. The banters and the sexual innuendos are hilarious, filled with many LOL moments. I also like the charming small town feels. If you are looking for something a little lighthearted, fun, low drama, hilarious, sexy friend-to-lover romance – this one is for you :)
