Another win for me.
This series has been full of so much fun. The relationships between the parents and siblings in this family are something I'm so jealous of. I want to be a member of this family. The dang group texts get me every time.
This story is about Reid. And up until now, we didn't really know that much about him. And his whole story took me by surprise. There is so much substance in this story and Meghan's writing is perfection. I am just not sure how her books could get any better.
Eve and Reid had me swooning. Their chemistry is off the charts, hot and sexy. Really LOVED it.

You need to pick up That Secret Crush. It is a phenomenal read that is filled with laughter, family, childhood crushes and fixing friendships. If you have read any of the Getting Lucky books then you are familiar with the Knightly men. This is Reid's book. You will just love it too. I love how he works hard trying to figure out who he is throughout this one. You feel for him and Eric with what happened with their friendship. Reid is that mystery brother that you can't wait to unravel and you will not be disappointed but you may be frustrated at times....just saying. The friendship with Eve and Reid is amazing. I love their banter and the support Reid gives her when she really needs it. The chemistry is amazing. But you feel for them when the issue of Eve being that childhood best friend sister. Watching the ups and downs Reid, Eve and even Eric go through all together just pulls at your heart. I couldn't put this one down. I love Eve and Reid together. I for one cannot wait for Brig's book to come. Go one click this today.

***3.5 ‘#TeamEve’ Stars***

Ok.

I love the Knightly’s. I really do.

But OMFG this one took my to hangover-ville, and not necessarily in a good way ~ at least not fully ~ because I’m exhausted in so many ways, it’s insane. I loved, LOVED some things and others...others they tried me, oh boy did they try me...hard and had me looking for a freezer, but in the end, I did like how everything turned out.

Eve and Reid. I kinda adored Eve. She’s strong, determined, sassy, compassionate and owns all that she is. She’s been through a lot emotionally and yet she keeps going because she knows her worth and what she wants her future to look like. Reid. I liked Reid. I did, but I had also had a difficult time with the ‘poor me’ thing that he covered himself with and did nothing to do anything about it. I get wallowing in your own misery, but even I had to blink a few times at how deep he was in his own muck.

Their journey to their relationship was one that I’m waffling over. I honestly felt that it was extremely one sided when it came to the person who really wanted it to work out for the majority of the book. I understood why that was, but it didn’t mean that it wasn’t frustrating. Also, I’m all about the smexy and smexy bantering between a couple, but this one went into the OTT realm for me and as for the big sinkhole...well, let’s just say I’m #TeamEve and the ones responsible should have grovelled a ton more. But as I said at the start, I still liked how everything turned out for them.

Now, while the romance part was in that strange middle ground, what did do it for me ~ and is the reason for me rounding up ~ was the Knightly family as a whole. I loved the relationship between the siblings ~ the text threads were AMAZING ~ and the way that they butted in to help out was awesome. But we have one Knightly left and I seriously think Imma need to take an edible or two to get through his book because it’s going to Brig who is gonna bring the crazy, but I cannot wait to see him brought to his knees.

Reid Knightly has harbored a secret crush on his best friend Eric's twin sister for as long as he can remember, but a childhood promise has long kept him from ever pursuing the spectacular Eve Roberts. But nowadays, Reid and Eve are much closer friends than the perpetually absent Eric, and hey... really good friends are allowed to have sex... right?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
That Secret Crush was an ultra sexy, highly entertaining, and laugh-out-loud funny reading delight from beginning to end! Reid and Eve are the epitome of a perfect friends to lovers story... with sizzling chemistry and fabulous banter, I loved every interaction between these two unforgettable characters!
On the precipice of finally achieving some of her biggest life goals, Eve's hard work is about to pay off. With her impending college graduation and her eye on a new career, it isn't until her good friend and forever crush makes a move that Eve finds herself to be truly happy. But Reid is a complicated man, and when they move from friends to lovers, it doesn't take long for their easy connection to become very, very complicated.
Reid once though he had it all, until a trip to New Orleans with his brothers changed everything. His once highly successful restaurant crashes and burns, along with his friendship with his BFF Eric. With his failure weighing heavily on his chest, Reid moves back home to Port Snow, and refuses to live the life he once loved. But when a night with Eve kickstarts Reid's heart back to life, everything he thought was good enough with his current situation is suddenly not nearly enough... for him or the woman he loves.
This was such a fantastic read! Reid is dripping in angst from his past failures, but he has a never-ending ability to turn anything into a sexual innuendo and lighten any tense situation with his quintessential Reid charm. Eve held her own and then some with the sometimes grouchy and always charismatic Reid. She was a truly selfless woman who put her dreams on hold for her family numerous times, only to have to pull herself up on her own, over and over again. But with her slightly painful past, Eve maintained her optimistic and loyal outlook, no matter what life threw at her.
I loved everything about this book!! The plot was engaging, the writing was immaculate and incredibly entertaining, and the characters were authentic, and best of all, learned from their mistakes and grew past their faults! Full character growth is an amazing thing!!
As always, the supporting characters added so many hilarious and also nurturing moments for both Reid and Eve, and of course let us revisit some of our Port Snow favorites! Reid and Eve were another delightful addition to the amazing Getting Lucky series, and I can't wait to see what antics the Knightly's will come up with next!
I received a complimentary copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.
Small Town | Friend’s to Lovers Romance
Can I just say that I want to PERSONALLY LIVE IN PORT SNOW! I’ll take any of the Knightly brothers (they are all charmingly irresistible), live through harsh winters (I hate winter), and deal with the small-town gossip JUST TO BE THERE. Gosh, this is one fictional town I dream about. New England is a beautiful place to live because we get all the seasons and while I prefer my winters to be nonexistent, I would take ALL the winters to live there. What a magical place! I grew up vacationing in Maine and Meghan Quinn writes the details PERFECTLY. I can practically smell the ocean and see the steam rising off a bowl of lobster bisque! Sigh… I love this town, these characters, and pretty much everything to do with this series.
Readers, this series is truly amazing. Not only can you visualize and practically FEEL like your living in Port Snow through the details Meghan provides in her writing, but you can CONNECT with these characters on deep levels. Sure, it takes some of them a little time to warm up and wear their emotions on their sleeves (ahem, REID) but connecting with them is so darn easy that they feel like they’ve been your forever friends.
I loved Reid and Eve’s love story. The banter, the bickering, the playfulness, and the emotions won me over. Nothing felt too serious on the surface, but you could FEEL the connection from deep inside your soul. Friends to Lovers romances are at the top of my favorite romantic tropes and these two truly delivered. There were a few moments that grated on my nerves (men can be so STUPID sometimes **rolls eyes) but Meghan showed us that we can overcome anything if you just TRY. I loved this. Reid hasn’t had the easiest time in the past few years- love curses, loosing your business AND best friend – so I could sympathize with his actions, but I still wanted to knock some sense into him. Good thing Eve is one tough cookie because had she not been things would have been TERRIBLE. Gosh I loved it so much!
Anyway, I feel like I’m rambling. I usually do this when I fall irrevocably in love with fictional characters and that’s exactly what happened with Reid and Eve’s story. I don’t want to say it’s my favorite of the series because I honestly love them ALL, but they did fit themselves into a special place in my heart.
If you love strong willed heroines, charming and goofy heroes, a friends-to-lovers trope, AND small-town romances then you’ll want to grab That Secret Crush. This book is magnificent!
4.5 Stars for That Secret Crush Book 3 in the Getting Lucky Series
This is Eve Roberts and Reid Knightly story and let me tell you right away it is a story that will captivate you, it will draw you in and there will be no putting down until the last word is read!!!!
I love my visits to the small town of Port Snow, I feel like I’m going home to catch up with family and friends and I especially love catching up with those Knightly brothers. Each brother has their own tale to tell and each book can certainly be read as a stand-alone although I’m sure one brother and one visit to Port Snow will never be enough. Eve and Reid have an amazing intense chemistry but it’s the banter they share that makes this a fun, enjoyable, witty read. Once again this author has us smiling and laughing out loud one minute and sighing and swooning the next. This small town romance left me wanting more and I really can’t wait to catch up with the residents of Port Snow in the next instalment if the Knightly brothers.
This series as a whole has been excellent, but it was more LIKE than LOVE for me with this one. Meghan Quinn doesn't know how to write a bad book, so this has everything I love about her work - the playful banter, the humor, the complex characters, and the small town charm found in the rest of the series. I just didn’t love Reid as a hero - he messes up too
many times to be compelling, and his overt sexuality gave this book a decidedly sexual feel, rather than the deeper slow burns of Griffin and Rogan’s stories. It was still good but I struggled with it at times, needing to put it down more than once.
Essentially, this follows Reid, former star chef turned broke fisherman, who has let the failure of his restaurant overtake his identity. He hates pretty much everything about his life but has crushed on his former best friend/business partner's sister for years. Eve is the one bright spot in his life, so when they cross the line from friends to lovers, it's a huge change for a multitude of reasons. He's finally got the girl he's always wanted - now it's just a matter of keeping her.
Considering the first two books in the series are angsty slow burns, I was surprised to discover that Reid's story is so... not that. There's a lot of steam and it starts early on, which works for the plot but wasn't my favorite - we never get that simmering tension I love about a friends to lovers romance, or the emotional build before taking that plunge. It's much more about the tension that comes AFTER these two get together and Reid's ability to keep Eve. As always with Quinn's books, I loved many of the characters and there were some great playful moments (plus teases about Brig's book, which I am absolutely looking forward to). So while this took an unexpected direction for me, it's still a solid addition to the series and an engaging read. I received an ARC via NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving a review of this steamy, emotional friends to lovers romance.
Each book I read in the Getting Lucky series is somehow better than its predecessor. How does that even happen? Am I going to love Brig’s story more than Reid’s, because I’ve gotta say That Secret Crush is gonna be hard to beat. Reid is just too sweet, too sexy, and too funny, and the dude can cook for heaven’s sake! Let’s not forget his skills in the bedroom either. He’s also extremely loyal, which may possibly be his downfall. His friendship with his best friend’s sister, Eve, is just adorable, and the fact that she possibly harbours the same feelings as him is too sweet. Then we have the Knightly family with their meddling ways, the hilarious sibling texts and the gossipy townsfolk. A truly sweet, funny and emotional read (because yes, I shed a few tears), that left me with a serious book hangover, I just did not want this book to end. I love the Knightly clan and their wonderful town of Port Snow. Small town romance, friends to lovers, best friend’s sister. All my favourite genres wrapped in one delightful package. Oh, and that cover!! Scrumdidlyumptious, I love it, he’s the perfect Reid, you’ve just got to look at that cheeky smile to know. I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. This is my honest review.
That Secret Crush is the third book in the Getting Lucky series. It follows the four Knightly brothers struggle to find love after being cursed in New Orleans by a palm reader to have doomed relationships. This one follows Reid, and his best friend, Eric’s twin sister, Eve. Reid is an absolute hot mess. He’s a chef, whose shared restaurant with Eric failed a couple years ago, and he basically has never cooked again, and never really moved on from that failure. He’s catching lobster on a boat, pretty unhappy, and angry about his life, yet pretty unwilling to change it. On the other hand, Eve is amazing. Eric basically never returned home so she took care of her parents as they were dying, and put her life on hold to do that. She is now finishing her degree and has her life pretty together. Eve and Reid have always been friends, and have always harbored secret crushes on each other and one night, they decide to act on their crushes. Their relationship runs pretty hot and cold, mostly due to Reid. But, Eve is so good for Reid and once he gets his stuff together, they are fantastic together. The best part of this series is the town of Port Snow, and the relationship between the brothers. These were still very present and my favorite parts of this book too. Brig’s book is next and I cannot wait for that one.
Reid's story has been ruminating in the back of my head since the first two books. Wondering, waiting to see exactly what happened to him in the past and why he was that "I don't like working here but I do it because I have to guy". I mean we know he had a failed restaurant career but we didn't REALLY know. There was just something about this dirty talking Knightly brother that had me squirming and outwardly cheering for him to find his maturity so he could find his love. That curse plays havoc on people who might believe it it. I found so much of this story witty and fun to ready. From the Hen Line to Brig's romantic side, to the family group texts, I enjoyed every moment of this read. Even the difficult ones, where sometimes you have to face your fears and believe that you are worthy...of love...of a second chance...of friendship...of success.
I love the Knightly siblings!! That Secret Crush does not disappoint!! Meghan Quinn gives us another great couple to fall in love with! Reid and Eve are childhood friends. Her brother was Reid’s best friend and failed business partner.
Eve is strong and determined and hardworking! Reid is struggling to after the loss of his business. When he decides to go after Eve as more than just a friend, the chemistry is amazing and all their real issues come into reality.
I loved watching Reid grow throughout the book. His struggles are real, he wants Eve but as he realizes what it is going to take to have her in his life- he needs to step up.
Eve is amazing! I love her friends and her support. Eve and Eric grow as well! The Knightly siblings text group is the best!! Mr Knightly is so well written in this book! How Eve and Reid get to happily ever after makes you laugh, cry and feel!!
Meghan Quinn gives all the little details that make us fall in love with all her characters!! I want to go live in Port Snow with them all!!
A beautiful story of secret love, broken friendships and discovering your true worth, something only you can give yourself. Another cursed Knightly discovers a love worth fighting for, a true friendship and a new passion for his calling. Will he be grown up enough to not mess it all up? And of he does will she be strong enough to forgive him? It's funny, and heartbreaking and absolutely everything you expect from a Knightly, even the most well endowed prolific of the brothers! Eve is strineg willed and very hardworking. She will do anything to get where she wants to be, even after all the let downs by her brother. They all have a lot of healing and growing up to do and it was a joy to watch it unfold. Hilarious and I cannot wait for the final Knightly to break his curse!
That Secret Crush is the third book in the Getting Lucky series by Meghan Quinn and I couldn’t wait to jump into this and head back to Port Snow and back to the Knightly family.
Reid is back in Port Snow after a bad experience took his dream away. He lost all his inspiration to cook, to do anything he used to love. He lost the tight bond he had with his best friend, Eric. He felt like a failure compared to his brothers. Eve, who also happens to be Eric’s twin sister, lost her dream. She put her life on hold but despite everything has worked hard to make a come back and she is finally at the finish line.
Reid and Eve have been friends since they were kids. However, they each harbored a secret crush towards the other. I loved the easy-going aspect of their friendship and the banter between the two of them was hilarious at times. Eve can handle the innuendos that Reid throws at her on a regular basis and even through some back. These two had TONS of chemistry and their relationship easily transitioned from friends to lovers.
I love the bond the Knightly family has. They are insanely close and so supportive of each other, even Eve since she has been around for years and years. They bring out the best in each other, they will do anything and everything they can to help each other out.
I can’t wait to see what is in store for the youngest Knightly brother, Brigs!
4.5 stars! I loved this laugh out loud edition to the series, the banter was excellent and the chemistry just worked for these 2. I’m really enjoying all of this series, I can’t wait for more!
I absolutely love this town of Port Snow and the Knightly brothers. Slowly each brother has broken the stupid curse that has plagued them for too long.
I love Meghan’s witty humor and she delivered once again. The banter between Eve and Reid was a preview of the intense chemistry they had. The family group texts were hilarious. And the banter between Reid and Brig had me rolling with laughter.
Meghan weaved a funny and beautiful story that had me laughing one minute and melting the next. She built this magical small town romance that will have you falling in love with the characters and the fictional town.
I can’t wait to get my hands on Brig’s story.
Let me start by saying, I love Reid, Port Snow and the Knightly brothers! I devour these brothers. Meghan Quinn has created the perfect small town setting with Port Snow. It’s filled with everything you love about small town romance, live and family.
Reid is down on his luck, has lost himself and is barely surviving. When his restaurant fails, he list his will and his best friend Eric.
Eve is Eric’s twin. She has secretly crushed on Reid. She is strong and a survivor. Reid has always wanted Eve but has had to stay away due to Eric’s wishes.
In this friends to lovers romance Reid and Eve give in to their feelings. They have amazing chemistry and banter. This book was filled with ups and downs as their relationship weathered the test of making their dreams come true.
I just loved this book and Reid so much. This is a great series & what you expect from Meghan. It’s fun and you will feel the characters in your heart. They become like family. I definitely recommend this book & series.
Man, I love these Knightly brothers. As good as they are on their own, getting all of them in each book is even better. They are exactly what you would think a group of brothers would behave like. I also love they way they include their sister in their group texts. They have all been very entertaining in this series.
The way Reid can't seem to keep his hands off of Eve was just hot. The best part about their relationship was how much they just seemed to adore each other. You can really see both of their infatuation with each other. I mean, they both have been secretly crushing on each other for years, so when it finally happens, they are pretty explosive.
As much as I love the love fest, you do get some feels in this book. There is a broken friendship to mend and the inevitable manly screw up that usually happens. You really see Reid, Eve and Eric, her brother, grow into their own after everything they go through.
Each book, each brother has brought us something different. I'm looking forward to the final brother's fall.
Reid and Eve's story might be my favorite!
I love an alpha male but I also love a character is vulnerable and Reid is vulnerable but strong at the same time.
Reid is one of the Knightly brothers (who we have fallen in love with in     books!)
Reid had his dreams come true years ago, opened his restaurant with his best friend to have it taken away.  He finds this out when he's in New Orleans with his brothers and right after the "curse" was bestowed upon them.  Reid has always had a crush on his best friend, Eric (and co-owner of his de-bunked restaurant) twin sister Eve. It was decided years ago that Reid would NEVER pursue Eve.
After the demise of the restaurant, Reid returns home and his friendship/relationship is inevitable with Eve. Their friendship/relationship is everything they both thought it would be (Eve had a secret crush too)...
Things are changing and it's unknown if their relationship can weather the storm.  Meghan Quinn gives us a swoony, romantic, funny (thank you Brig) and sweet small town, friends to lovers, best friends sister romance.  The only thing that would have made this book better for me - is if it was released in the summer and I would have read it sitting on the beach. The perfect beach read...I did snuggle up with a warm blanket and read but on the beach would have been even better!
Reid and Eve’s story. This is book 3 of 4 brothers, but the first I’ve read. A fun romp, and made me chuckle, although his immaturity made me wonder what she saw in him. Still though, a quick easy read that was enjoyable. Highly recommend this book.
This was my first Meghan Quinn book and now I really want to read more. This is such an enjoyable book. This is the third book in the series but is definitely a stand alone and so I had no problem following the story.
I loved the family and their relationship in this story they were fun to read about but this is the story of Eve and Reid.
Eve has a twin brother Eric who is Reids best friend. Reid and Eric have a falling put because of a failed business adventure and so Reid moves back home where he starts to fall for Eve. Because of the falling out between Reid and Eric they try to keep things secret.
A good book with so much drama and secrets.
