I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Thank you to NetGalley and Montlake publishing for letting reviewers read this book.
Meghan Quinn is really nailing this series. I've only read book 1 and 3, however both have been very entertaining and easy to read.
Reid and Eve are fantastic characters and the way their story evolved, kept me engaged throughout this rom com. Some of the one-liners between them and the family are hilarious, and probably the best thing about this series.
Reid is a talented chef who has given up temporarily due to bad luck in the past. Eve has spent most of her life helping others and finally has a chance to do what she's always wanted. There are some hot scenes, funny innuendos and talk of a certain large member. What else do you need to make you laugh?
4.5 stars
Really looking forward to seeing what happens to Brig in book 4.

I really enjoyed this book! It had me laughing out loud! I loved the chemistry between Reid and Eve! This is my favorite book in the series! I would highly recommend this book!!! Then again you can’t go wrong with a Meghan Quinn book!

I love Reid! Sure he has his flaws- he's insecure and dwelling on the past. But he's so dirty and flirty and fun otherwise. And Eve is way more understanding than we expect in a romance. Sure, in real life, we know love is tough and you have to pick your battles and forgive, and that's what she does. I love this little town, I love this family, and I love this series. There were moments that cracked me up and moments that made me sad. In the end, though, you get a happy ever after, a book that could be read on it's own, and excitement built for the only brother left standing after this one.

Unnecessarily crude, which is kind of ironic because part of the curse mentioned in the book is that the curse won’t be lifted until his mind has matured. Crude to the point that I felt like I was in a middle school classroom with a bunch of hormonal teenagers. This wasn’t my favorite and I doubt that I will read any further books in the series.

I need to give this 6 stars! I've loved this series from the start because these Knightly brothers are IT. They are funny, sexy, sweet, family crazy and did I mention funny, well they are actually hilarious.

Reid is all in with the curse business. Not only in love but with his love of coming, losing his restaurant, his best friend .. Eve is the twin to said best friend Eric. She's secretly crushed on Reid her entire life. But she's not willing to lose the person closest to her with outing her feelings.

While I could rehash this plot and why I loved every second, I'd rather explain why I loved it on the emotional level. While most authors dip their toes in the water and dangle them a few seconds, giving you the rollercoaster emotions, Meghan Quinn takes the complete plunge and lets it all go, letting you lose your stomach in the dip, hunker down there for a bit, then claw your way back up the hill with these characters to joy. There is no quick, happy ending. Nope, we get to enjoy the drama and angst. We get a heroine who has true emotions that don't go away or heal overnight or work a quick apology. We get a storyline with a hearty struggle. And we don't get a quick, ok, were good, we're in love, yeah. I loved every second!

I really like this series. It’s funny, sweet. The text messages between the Knightly’s are hilarious. I enjoyed this one. I could really relate to Eve at times. Can’t wait for Brig’s story.

It's here- Book 3!! I love this town and the Knightly Brothers - Reid did not disappoint with his book. He is the annoying little brother, angry, moody, pissed off, a past chef and now local fishermen. Eve is his best-friends twin sisters and his friend as well, they both have been crushing on each other since middle school but never act on it. Eve is a strong, smart, doesn't put up with crap women and you will love her for loving Reid.

This is a typical Meghan Quinn book full of humor, sexy steamy fun, drama, LOL moments and HEA! The town Port Snow, Maine is getting better and better with each book and somehow the Knightly crew as well! This book is full of unfiltered Reid so f-bombs and perverted teen boy comments throughout the whole book which makes this so much fun- you can not help but just laugh.

*Many thanks to NetGalley, Montlake Romance, and Meghan Quinn for an ARC in exchange for an honest book review!

I’ve been loving this Meghan Quinn series and this latest installment was great! It feels like all the best parts of a Hallmark movie with more steaminess. I love the small town of Port Snow and Quinn’s distinctive, compelling characters. Her books feel so cozy and romantic, and I look forward to more like this one!

OMG!! This book was Laugh Out Loud Funny!!! Reid had no filter and was sex-crazed!!! Eve knew how to handle him.

While I bought the first book in the series and have yet to read it, when I got the opportunity to read this book from NetGalley, I decided to read it out of series order. And it is a standalone novel with even a little overview of the “curse” so I felt like it was pretty easy to get the backstory without reading the prior books in the series.

One thing I will have to say, though, is that I love the family. The siblings are hilarious, their banter and texts are perfectly representative of a close family that loves each other. It makes me really excited to read the other books in the series.

In terms of this story, this is a friends to lovers story, along with the added complication that the heroine is the best friend’s sister. First, I really loved Eve. She was an amazing character- smart, hardworking, loyal and oh so patient, which she needed to be, given that Reid was a difficult case. Even Eve noted it- the “woe is me” schtick got a little tiring! And it was doubled since both Reid and her twin brother Eric suffered from this affliction, which became a little aggravating, especially towards the end of the book. Overall, however, I liked Reid, especially how he interacted with the other characters when he wasn’t feeling sorry about himself. He redeemed himself, of course, but it took a while. There was a lot of steam, so many laughs through the book, and a wonderful world where I will be happy to revisit.

I'll preface this by saying that I'll never not read Meghan Quinn's books. I'm a long-time fan.

I liked this pretty well. Definitely not one of my favorites by the author, but overall an enjoyable read. The Knightly family is a great supporting cast.

There were scenes/dialogue that left me rolling my eyes, like the profanity or ridiculousness was just so pronounced it was kind of jarring. Not in a "This is this character's personality and they're just completely OTT," way, but in a "The story seems like it's going off the rails in the name of cheap laughs." way. It ends up watering down the story for me. But there were also parts that legitimately had me snort-laughing, so it all evened out on the humor front.

There were parts that I felt like were too...artificially serious as well, like the pendulum had swung too far in the other direction and they ended up coming off kind of hokey. I've noticed this in a lot of the author's recent work, almost like the real deep, brow-furrowing soul-searching is meant to offset the cheap laughs. I think I'm not describing this well, but if you know what I mean, you'll know what I mean.

I knew going in that there was a good chance I'd encounter what I'm describing, so no sweat. I liked reading it, but there are MQ books I'll read over and over again and this one isn't one of them.

I laughed so hard all throughout this book. I will never think about an armpit and not giggle at least. I will be recommending, That Secret Crush, to all of my friends.

Yeah...Reid's boundaries...well he has none, “all this wiggling is getting me hot and bothered. Want to do it in your car?” Reid is willing to go that extra mile to make sure his giel has a good time, “your place, after your shift tonight. I’ll be on your bed, butt-*** naked, legs spread, showing off the goods.” Reid is very proud of his meatballs, “I tried to do mirror images for you, but I’m out of practice. Don’t worry, babe, I’ll get it right one day, and you can finally say you’ve had my balls in your mouth.” I liked this book, I loved Reid.

Five Stars for ‘That Secret Crush’ (Getting Lucky, Book 3) by Meghan Quinn

Many thanks to NetGalley, Montlake Romance, and Meghan Quinn for an ARC in exchange for an honest book review of ‘That Secret Crush’ (Getting Lucky, Book 3). My thoughts and opinions are 100% my own and independent of receiving an advance copy.

Synopsis: “USA Today bestselling author Meghan Quinn brings more humor and heart with the third novel of her Getting Lucky series: a story about breaking curses and laying your heart on the line.

What happens when your secret crush isn’t so secret anymore?

I’ve had feelings for Eve Roberts for as long as I can remember, but because she also happens to be the twin sister of my best friend, Eric, I’ve never acted on my feelings and long ago resigned myself to keeping my crush under wraps.

But after a terrible falling-out with Eric involving a failed restaurant venture and plenty of blame on both sides, I’m back in Port Snow without my best friend and without any direction. But can you guess who’s here? Eve. And my attraction to her is as strong as ever.

As old feelings rush back, Eve and I find ourselves pulled together, whether we like it or not. Lines are crossed, secrets are kept, and we soon discover that the difference between love and friendship may not be so black and white, after all.

Everyone wants that secret crush to love them back…but will I be ready when she does?”

Meghan Quinn gives us two tropes for the price of one in the third book in her Getting Lucky series: friends-to-lovers and brother’s best friend. This is all wrapped up within the original story of the Knightly brothers and their ill-fated trip to New Orleans and the curse of the witchy woman who promised them broken love until their hearts “matured”.

‘That Secret Crush’ tells the story of sexy, failed (for now) chef-turned-fisherman Reid and his friend Eve (aka his former best friend/business partner’s twin sister). Complicated? Yes! Hilarious? Yes! Hot and Steamy? Yes! Reid is grumpy, horny, brash, and perverted. And oh so charming and sexy. He’s also had a crush on Eve since they were kids but was warned off her by his best friend and her brother, Eric. Eve is a lovely, compassionate, fun, warm, and ambitious woman who has had a crush on Reid since they were kids too but didn’t think he was interested! After Reid and Eric’s restaurant in Boston fails and Reid comes home to Port Snow feeling like a loser and vows to never cook again, Eve and Reid settle into a friendship. Eric remains distant from both of them back in Boston.

One night Reid and Eve finally cross the line! Things get hot and steamy! Secrets are kept. When new opportunities arise and everyone gets thrown together again things get even more complicated. Is the curse real? Can Reid fight his own demons and his best friend and win the girl? How many Knightlys does it take to make a grand gesture?

Meghan Quinn is always a pleasure to read and the Getting Lucky series has been fantastic and continues to be so. She does amazing things with Reid whose character was pretty mysterious although hilariously unfiltered in the previous books. She really creates two beautifully and fully fleshed-out characters in Reid and Eve who complement each other so well. Although fun and funny, they are both a little damaged and they fit each other like sexy, crazy, delicious puzzle pieces. The Knightly family continues to grow in depth of character as does the town of Port Snow, Maine. That Secret Crush provides laughter and tears, as well as steaming up your kindle with another crushable Knightly brother. 'That Secret Crush' will leave you smiling and satisfied. I cannot wait for Brig’s book.
