Thank you for the opportunity to review Bad Bachelor!

WHAT I LIKED:

1. Darcy. The female main character is smart, sharp, and unapologetic. Stefanie London described her in great detail, and I felt like I knew Darcy like an old friend. Her spunk and wit, paired with moments of softness and empathy, made her a main character I could root for.

2. The sense of layering and character development. I enjoyed how all the characters were multi-faceted and had multiple dimensions. We got to see the main cast of characters struggling and succeeding due to their own active choices and autonomy.

3. The presence of family dynamics. How families function in romance is sometimes not addressed, so I enjoyed the glimpses into Darcy and Reed's childhood and home life. Their relationships with parents and siblings were nuanced and emphasized that there is no one way to be a parent or child. Relationships are as unique as the people who participate in them.

WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE

1. Parts of Reed's character. His internal struggle felt somewhat manufactured. As nuanced as Darcy's internal dialogue was, I didn't see that in Reed. There was an explanation for why he was the way he was, but maybe a little more development would've made is character seem more believable.

2. There were one too many coincidences. I'll buy one moment of happenstance, but there was one moment closer to the end of the book when Reed discovered that someone close to Darcy wasn't entirely genuine. You'll know what I mean when I get there, but it felt a little too neat and tidy.

Reed needs to fix his own problems!

PR guru Reed McMahon is a serial dater but when his name is the lowest rated bachelor for the Bad Bachelors app for dates, he becomes the bachelor everyone is talking about. Reed usually fixes everyone else problems but when it begins to cause problems at work Reed needs to fix his own life. Librarian Darcy Greer needs to raise money for her library so she can restart some extra programs that were dropped when funding stopped. Reed has to pick a program to help because of work and he picks Darcy’s library to help set up a fundraiser because of his assistant goes there with her grandson.

Reed and Darcy don’t like each other the first time they met because of the circumstances the longer they have to work together and it’s fun to read how they irritate each other but they slowly grow on each other. Bad Bachelor is a cute read about people being able to rate their dates and hopefully prevent other from making the same mistake.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Bad Bachelor was an easy and fun read, the characters very likeable even though I had a hard time figuring them together. The story however didn't hold any particular aspect that would have made it stand out from other romance novels. The new cover (I realized afterward that the book had been out for 2 years) really confused me, and I think the former cover is more truthful about its content—namely the erotica bits—this new cover lets you expect something else entirely and may mislead readers—it misled me. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the galley.

This book was an enjoyable read, but didn’t really grab my attention and make me want to read. I’ve recently read a book that I couldn’t put down, so it’s always hard following a book like that.

I wasn’t a huge fan of the characters, but felt they were well written. I liked the authors writing style and felt the book flowed well.

Overall, 3 stars. Thank you NetGalley for my advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I was going to give this four stars but then I read the ending and it's getting a two.

The main guy is interesting. Because of his childhood, Reed keeps people at arm's length. He's upfront that he only wants sex from women. He thought this was going fine until an app called 'Bad Bachelor' is created that dubs him the worse bachelor in New York. This causes his job to be put in danger. Him finding out who created the app was interesting but when we find out, nothing happens. The woman gets away with hurting strangers because she got hurt by a guy. None of the men on the app agreed to be part of it. It does affect Reed's career but we're not supposed to care because he deserved it for being emotionally unavailable.

The romance meant nothing to me. Darcy was too much of a teenager with how she approached life. She even had that 'not like other girls' thing. If anyone tells her what to do, she'll rebel and not think. Or disgust over wearing business clothes wonder if she ever goes to a library meeting. Librarians do have them.

And New York City libraries don't need fund raisers. I've had to deal with too many New Yorkers complaining that my library isn't as good as the one back home.

I didn't realize this was a re-release. I've seen it on the shelves at work, but never looked at it. Turns out, I really loved it. It was fun and the banter between the two main characters was definitely entertaining. I couldn't put it down. I'm already looking for more by this author. Thank you for letting me read this!

I quite liked this story, the main characters had a nice bit of background to add some depth to their characters. I did take a bit of time to warm up the h; at times she seemed a bit immature. The banter was amusing and I was engrossed the whole way through the story. Overall, a good book. * I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley and this is my voluntary and honest review. Note this review is based on the book to be release in 2020, and I do not know if it differs from the previous version.

Dating in the modern age is difficult with social media and apps that allow us to meet different people. It is an interesting take on how love has changed until recent.

The female heroine is a snarky, fun and a bit edgy librarian and the male character is known as the "bad boy" bachelor that no one can tie down but he is a bit arrogant and kind of an ass but i guess that comes with his charm.

This book is fun, sexy, full of banter but also very cute.

I love books about books and/or librarians and this was a worthy entry! The snark and banter and sheer wit was great!! I was not a fan of how the Bad Bachelors site was handled in the end though.

I was provided with an ARC of this book by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

⭐⭐⭐3.5

This was an easy, fun book to read. The story is about Darcy & Reed. Darcy is an introverted librarian, ready to date again after being left just before her wedding. In true librarian/introvert style, she wants to be prepared for what she's getting into, so she downloads an app that rates eligible men - by women, for women! (Apparently there are no gay men in NYC 😂)

Reed, is the lowest rated, worst bachelor on the app. His crime? He's a one night stand. He tells women this upfront, treats them nicely, is great in bed and then never calls. Ummm, that's the worst guy ever?! A healthy suspension of disbelief is required. I really had a hard time getting over this, but the characters and the banter between them was utterly charming. Reed & Darcy end up working together and feels ensue.

There is a lot put into sketching out each MCs past, motivations and fears. Their developing relationship feels realistic. They end up getting thrown together a lot outside of their work so they see other sides of each other and grow to like each other.

The supporting characters- Reed and Darcy's friends & family were a bit all over the place. Darcy's friends are her BFFs she's known forever, but they are kinda judgy and her discomfort with them doesn't match the setup of the book. The family members (his dad, her mom, stepdad and sister) are far more detailed and they have some nice scenes which spark some real change in our MCs... Like an old John Hughes movie. It's very sweet.

Overall it's a good read with some genuine heart. The setup for the rest of the series is minimal (the app lives on!)

This was a fun romcom with some depth! I loved the character of Darcy and how she was a bit edgier than librarians are normally portrayed. Her chemistry with Reed was great and authentic and both characters were interestingly multifaceted. I enjoyed how this was a story about family alongside romance and it felt like the two sides balanced each other out well. I’d love to read more in this series!

Everybody’s talking about the hot new app reviewing New York’s most eligible bachelors. But why focus on prince charming when you can read the latest dirt on the lowest-ranked “Bad Bachelors”―NYC’s most notorious bad boys.

If one more person mentions Bad Bachelors to Reed McMahon, someone’s gonna get hurt. A PR whiz, Reed is known as an ‘image fixer’ but his womanizing ways have caught up with him. What he needs is a PR miracle of his own.

When Reed strolls into Darcy Greer’s workplace offering to help save the struggling library, she isn’t buying it. The prickly Brooklynite knows Reed is exactly the kind of guy she should avoid. But the library does need his help. But as she reluctantly works with Reed, she realizes there’s more to a man than his reputation. Maybe, just maybe Bad Bachelor #1 is THE one for her.

Sweet, something entertaining, swoony warms your heart from the beginning: CHECK!

This book is great escape, another feel-good, enjoy your moment and relax book you’d like to devour at one bite.

Of course there are clichés, unnecessary angst, misunderstanding but it is still fun, emotional, hot read.
So my 3.5 stars rounded up 4 !

Thanks to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for sharing this lovely ARC COPY in exchange my honest review!

Great read!!

I have to say, I don't think I have ever felt so bad for the "bad" guy in a book quite like this one. Reed is just getting slammed on this dating app and while he is a little arrogant and sure of himself he doesn't deserve this. When Reed goes out with a woman, she knows the score and when she can't change his mind, she publicly humiliates him on a app where she can hide anonymously. How is that not slander??

I liked that Darcy was someone who sort of marched to her own beat. She tried once to do the traditional thing but that didn't turn out so well. I loved how passionate she was about the library and her vision of it. I just really wish she didn't give the app so much attention especially after spending time with Reed.

I thought this was a great fast read. Very rom-com and exactly what i was looking to read today. I really enjoyed it overall. There were some issues with the MC not getting over her self esteem issues but other than that can't complain.

I loved the cover of the book on netgalley not so much the cover on goodreads.

Would recommend and read more in the series.

This book had the promise of being a fun romcom but sadly it fell short for me. I had a hard time connecting with either one of the main characters and the story seemed mundane. I couldn’t feel any chemistry between the two leads.

Darcy is a rebellious librarian who will do anything to defy her mother. She’s also a jilted ex-fiancé and has lost all hope in the opposite sex. Enter Reed, the playboy who’s married to him job, and refuses to settle down. With his reputation being tarnished by a dating app that has named him as the worst bachelor to date.

I couldn’t find myself to get into this book at all. I found myself reading as a motion rather than being emotionally invested. Darcy and Reed had not connection. At times I would think she was this strong women, but then she would have a tendency for immature behavior. I feel like the author wanted to make Reed the emotional bachelor who hides his real self, but then there were we got a glimpse into his emotional side and it lived up to his reputation online.

I think me and this book were a bad match but I do appreciate NetGalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for this eARC in exchange for an honest review

Darcy is a librarian who is in charge of the library's gala to help raise money for the library. She is also recovering from a very sudden end to her last relationship, but she is ready to start dating again.
She is worrying about getting hurt again, so when a new app launch that helps women avoid the unworthy men, she is using it as a guideline.
What she didn't expected was to meet the number one bad bachelor when he is enlisted to help her plan the gala.
The problem with Reed is that the more she gets to know him, the less sense the reviews make. Now she has to decide which version of him is the real one and if she is ready to risk her heart.
Reed doen't trust people and he is not interested in a relationship, his life is exactly the way he wants and he is fine with that. Until a librarian is entering his life making him question what he knew.

The idea of an app rating bachelors is very interested especially given the fact that the owner is a mystery and Reed is determined to figure out who is behind it. The connection between Darcy and Reed was so apparent from the start, they weren't ready to meet the other person and that made the story even better. It was a very enjoyable book.

A witty and sexy romance!

Reed McMahon is a PR guy who ends up getting a lot of bad PR himself on a dating app called Bad Bachelor - he becomes the most hated bachelor, and it ends up affecting him in ways he didn't think possible. Darcy Greer is a rebel librarian who doesn't like being told what to do, but she knows her library needs funds and when Reed becomes the one guy who can help her get those funds, she has no choice but to work with him. They both come to find out they have a LOT more in common that they thought, including a lot of personal baggage.

I actually really enjoyed this book - it was a fun and quick read with lots of great dialogue and some great chemistry. I loved that the characters were unusual and quirky, and I always love a HEA. Definitely recommend!

Note: I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher and NetGalley in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Bad Bachelor was so good. I love a good enemies to lovers story and watching Darcy and Reed let go of their preconceived ideas of each other and learn how well they fit together was fantastic. Darcy is a librarian who loves books so that makes her so relatable to me. I love Reed's love for his family and struggles to do the right thing while dealing with a hard personal image situation. These two were easy to meet, fall into their story and love. I love a series with overlapping characters and strong female friendships and can't wait to keep going with this series.

I absolutely adored everything about this rom com story with Reed and Darcy. Told from both perspectives, it's a love story that will capture your heart and make you think twice about dating apps.

Darcy is trying to get back into the dating scene after calling off her wedding at the last minute when her fiance cheats on her. Reed doesn't want to date... at all. When their lives are pulled together through work, Darcy recognizes his name as one of the most infamous men on the new dating app, Bad Bachelor. Women are able to submit reviews of men after dating them, and every review Reed has is bad. That doesn't stop the spark of interest Darcy feels upon meeting him for the first time, especially when he is her match at witty banter. Reed convinced himself he doesn't have time for dating, and he doesn't give much stock in the reviews on Bad Bachelor. But when it starts to affect his family, he starts to suspect there's more behind the app and to the drama.

Darcy and Reed are just the cutest, and I will ship them forever. It's true, some of the tropes are a bit cliche and have been done before, but I love the idea of the dating app - it's different than anything I've read before. I also have a soft spot for the "bad boy" trope, especially when it isn't 'deserved'. The steam meter was good, but not 50 Shades level of spice. The romance flowed easily, sometimes in romance novels they jump immediately into bed or a switch flips and you're unsure how they got there - not in this book. It is a bit of a build up to the big event.

I read this all in one day, it hit every spot that I look for in romance to keep me interested, and making me wish Reed had his sights set on me instead of Darcy.
