A fabulous way to introduce the children to the marvel that was Vivienne Westwood. Westwood is a British fashion designer who is considered largely responsible for bringing modern punk and new wave fashion mainstream. The book brings to light the struggle that the rebellious avant garde designer went through to create her own niche space.

The text isn't overwhelming though the character on which the book is based on is. I wouldn't be surprised if you would yourself want to find out more about Westwood after reading this to your tots.

Dame Vivienne Westwood is fashion royalty. For those who know next to nothing about fashion designers, how about jogging your memory cells to the Sex And The City Movie, where Carrie models a wedding gown which is later sent home to her by the designer for use at her wedding.. That gown - That designer! Still at loss, then you are in real need of this book cause how else will you know about this fierce, fearless, risk taker who brought about punk into fashion.

The newest offering in the Little People Big Dreams series charts Vivienne's path to success as she grows from a creative kid to a fabulous designer, making fashion accessible and relevant. It goes to show how she made bold fashion statements while others were just playing safe. Glad to be able to introduce her to my kid in such an eye pleasing format.

Perfect for fashion enthusiast mothers and biography geeks!

“Little Vivienne dreamed of mending the world to make it a better place.”

Vivienne Westwood has had a colourful life in all senses of the word. Her fashion designs are bright, bold, loud, strange, and iconoclastic. Her personality seems to be the same. Don’t try to tell her not to mix stripes and dots or tartans!

She was always outspoken - don’t pick on other people!

She’s an iconoclastic icon, the woman who broke fashion and who continues to use her voice to champion causes. She's still trying to mend the world to make it a better place.

This is a great little introduction for kids to meet someone who not only marches to her own drum but gets others to join her parade. Who else can you think of who designs clothing and then tells you not to buy more?

Lovely book and another good addition to the Little People BIG DREAMS library from Quarto Publishing and Frances Lincoln Children’s Books. Thanks to NetGalley for the preview copy.

p.s. I'm delighted to see my library has a copy, and I hope yours does, too. Kids need to know how many ways they can choose to live their lives and make a difference.

I just reviewed Vivienne Westwood by Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara. #VivienneWestwood #NetGalley

If you asked me who Vivienne Westwood is, my answer would be "some kind of designer". What she did and who she is, I read that in this book. A small yet full of messages. As you can see in my reading list, I rarely read biography books. But in this format, I love them all.

A great addition to the wonderful Little People Big Dreams series, this book tells the life story of Vivienne Westwood in an engaging way with beautiful illustrations and easy sentences - perfect to get babies and toddlers interested in inspiring people from an early age.

Inspiring kids from the beginning

This format of the series (board book) is meant for toddlers, thus it consists mainly of short, easy sentences and vibrant, colorful pictures. I feel like some of the info is lost in these board books, but it is a good way to get children started on these kinds of books early. I did like reading Vivienne Westwood´s story and will check out the non-boardbook version.

I adore the Little People, Big Dream books which is a bestselling series that introduces young readers to inspirational people throughout history. The books demonstrate that many successful people have had to overcome challenges in their lives and work hard for their achievements. The board book versions provide even the youngest readers in our lives an opportunity to hear these incredible stories. Each book is complete with clear, bright and colourful illustrations that tell the story just as much as the words.

Wouldn’t it be great if we all had a little bit of Vivienne Westwood’s attitude? What a fierce, independent woman! I had heard of her but loved hearing the story through the book. She stood up to bullies at school and used fashion as a way of expressing herself and as a means of protest. She encouraged people to buy less and wear them more often and I couldn’t think of a better sentiment in 2020, when more and more people are becoming conscience consumers particularly with fast fashion and their environmental footprint. It’s evident in this board book that Vivienne Westwood walks to the beat of her own drum and what a wonderful message to send out to our young people in a world saturated by social media ‘norms’!

As always a perfect book to add to your Little People, Big Dreams collection to inspire individuality.

I adore these books from Little People, BIG DREAMS series, This new book is about the life of Vivienne Westwood the flame-haired fashion designer and impresario. I just love all her designer clothes, jewellery etc. I could never afford them......But I can admire!
Vivienne creates things with so much passion and flare that anyone could only dream to wear and be noticed. wearing it. You would definitely stand out in a crowd.

I highly recommend this new book Vivienne Westwood by Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara.
Come to think of it all her books. They are so adorable, colourful with lovely illustrations throughout and great for small children to learn about some of the wonderful people that were and are a part of our lives and did great things they did.

Big Thank you to NetGalley and Frances Lincoln Children's Books for the ARC provided for an honest opinion.

Vivienne Westwood is a unique role model for young women everywhere. She dared to be different in the world of fashion and inspired and empowered others to stand up for what they believe in, even if they are standing alone. I loved this edition to the Little People, Big Dreams series and will continue to check out these books as they are released. This series opens the eyes of young people to the world around them and to the lives of inspiring individuals they may not have otherwise heard of.

I love the Little People, Big Dreams books but this one fell short. I have never heard of Vivienne Westwood (I don't follow the fashion scene) and was interested to learn about her. Aside from being a fashion designer who advocated for wearing clothes longer and somehow being involved in the punk scene, I still have no idea who she is. I would have loved to learn how to influenced the punk scene, or made a change in the community and industry aside from making "poor people look rich, and rich people look poor." For many kids, this concept has no tangible meaning.

I really enjoy this series. The incredible illustrations in this one make up for a slightly briefer text and a less detailed story as a result.

This Vivienne Westwood book was good, but I don't think it resonated as much with Logan as he found it hard to grasp what she was famous for and what she did. However, the illustrations were bright and colourful and as an adult I learnt more about someone who was just a name to me.

A great story to tell little ones with the hopes of inspiring them, to do more and to do what they want to do and not what society tells them.

I love this series! Another great addition, another book my kids enjoyed reading - and we all learned something! You can’t go wrong with this series.
