I am normally not a wedding book person but in this case she wasn't a bridezilla but telling a lie to cover for her famous cousin. The problem is she met hot baker Nick and fell instantly in love with him. Yes please. The ending was super swoonworthy! I am very excited for this Hearts Landing series. I've been hoping Hallmark publishing would do something like that. It's going to be the best

...all sappiness aside, I loved it. Fluffy and sweet, easy to read, likeable characters, charming setting, and just enough of a twist on the typical Hallmark romance to make it interesting – interesting enough that I’ll be looking for other titles in the Hearts Landing series.

It’s a quick and easy read that will warm your heart and tempt your tastebuds.

My thanks to the publisher for the complimentary copy of this title via NetGalley. All opinions expressed are my own.

A Simple Wedding by Leigh Duncan is a sweet, heartfelt, feel-good, romance that is the beginning of a new series. It is everything a “Hallmark Romance” should be.

Heart’s Landing is an adorable community and I really think it could be a great setting for many novels to come.

I really enjoyed the plot. I liked Jenny and I thought that she and Nick had great chemistry. I enjoyed the curveballs thrown their way on their path to finding each other. I am not a fan of “Bridezillas”, so I am glad that everything worked out in the end.

I am excited to hear that there will be follow-ups and I look forward to finding out how things goes.

5/5 stars

Thank you NetGalley and Hallmark Publishing for this ARC and in return I am submitting my unbiased and voluntary review and opinion.

I am posting this review to my GR and Bookbub accounts immediately and will post it to my Amazon and B&N accounts upon publication.

Oh how to trick and tease your cousin plus letting her fall in love with the impossible person. A Simple Wedding turns out to be not so simple you will find out as you read this beautiful story. Very well written by Leigh Duncan, I will give it 5 stars plus a recommendation, get the book or Kindle and enjoy it.

The book premises is assistant to celebrity pretends to be engaged and planning celebrity wedding ... I’m not a fan of this type of writing.

I had every intention of rating this a three because I strongly disliked Kay as a character; however, that ending changed everything for me.

From Goodreads:

I am not always an emotional reader; however, when I am that book sticks with me. I went into this thinking it would be like a traditional Hallmark setup, with certain things happening at certain percentages, and in some ways that did happen.

Duncan was able to craft characters that I felt so deeply about that I become INVESTED. There were a few points through the book that I felt so strongly that I would have thrown the book if it wouldn't have been an ebook arc from Netgalley. The characters immediately stuck and I felt their sense of presence throughout the story. Heart's Landing is crafted with such care that you are immediately immersed in this setting and finding yourself wanting to be a Heart's Landing Bride.

This was a ballpark book for me and I am hoping the little teaser in the back means this will become a series. If so, I am HERE FOR IT! This book kept me hanging on all the way until the very end. (Also, I would like to apologize to my best friend for the string of gif messages as I was finishing this up today.)

This is a sweet romance, filled with some twists and turns, but ultimately a feel-good story of true love triumphing, despite the pitfalls thrown their way, Jen and Nick find their way to their HEA. Heartwarming and entertaining.

Jennifer goes to Hearts Landing to plan a wedding for her famous cousin. The problem is that she meets a handsome baker in town who threatens to steal her heart away. Unfortunately, she has promised her cousin not to reveal who the true bride is. One of the best “feel good” romantic stories I’ve read in a long time. Brought to you by Hallmark Publishers, this gem of a story is guaranteed to warm your heart.

A Simple Wedding turns into a nightmare for Kay's cousin because Kay wants it to be a big secret. Then she becomes a bridezilla. Changing everything on short notice. You'll have a hard time deciding if you love or hate her. An enjoyable read even with all the problems. True love will find a way to make it.

A.SIMPLE WEDDING...Leigh..Duncan
Captain’s Cottage a turn of the century mansion. Brides across the country wanted Heart’s Landing to be married at.
Jenny and Kay were closer than cousins, and wanted Jenny to organize her wedding. She had been with Kay since she got her first staring role, knowing how to have everything ready, for Kay always seemed to wait till the last minute. Planning a wedding for people in the entertainment world, she knew nothing or how to even begin, saying you need a wedding planner instead.
Pleading of how she trusted Jenny and she had already had her notes of what she wanted. Fifty people and wanted as soon as possible.
Who doesn’t love wedding, reading how it comes about. The author has a magic touch of bringing this to life for us, the smell of flowers, the colors, and the setting. For Jenny when she heard the news, how would people in this town think of her and the secrets she had been keeping. Could there be a shining knight near by to make it right. Delightful, enjoyed the mystery part and romance . Given ARC for my voluntary review and my honest opinion by Net Galley and author, , publisher

The concept of this story seemed great. Seemed like a story I could really get into. Sadly, this did not happen for me. I gave up within a few chapters.

I received an ARC of Leigh Duncan's A Simple Wedding for an honest review. A Simple Wedding was the first book that I have read by Leigh Duncan and I can truly say that I loved the book. It was a wonderful romantic story. The story, the characters and the setting were incredible. Leigh Duncan showed that she is a wonderful storyteller. A Simple Wedding is the story of Jenny Longley, personal assistant and cousin to a Hollywood mega superstar and Nick Bell, owner and baker of I Do Cakes. Jenny's cousin, Karolyn "Kay" Karter just got engaged to her co star Chad Grant and Jenny's next assignment is to arrange a small intimate wedding for Kay and Chad in Heart's Landing, the same location that Jenny dreamed where she would one day get married. The only catch is that Jenny cannot say that she is planning Kay and Chad's wedding, she has to pretend that it is her wedding that she is planning to her fake fiance Tom/Bob Cash. Jenny's parents died in a train wreck when she was a child and her mother's sister Maggie raised her. That is why Jenny feels obligated to do everything, as repayment to Aunt Maggie taking her in and for Kay always being there. Jenny and Nick first meet when Nick literally runs into Jenny as she stares at a horse draw carriage that is passing by covering her with a dozen of cupcakes he needed to deliver. Jenny is the consummate romantic and was dreaming about her own wedding and not Kay's. Jenny goes into the bakery to clean up and offer to pay for the ruined cupcakes. Denise, the counter girl told her it was all taken care of. Nick gives Denise orders that whatever Jenny wants is on the house. Jenny orders a cupcake, and she loves it. She sets up a cake tasting with Denise. Jenny starts to visit I Do Cakes daily for a cupcake and coffee and getting closer to Nick. Nick tells the other wedding merchants in Heart's Landing, that Jenny is a true Heart's Landing bride. So they all want to go out of their way to make all her dreams come true. Meanwhile, Kay is becoming a "Bridezilla". She changes the wedding size from fifty to two hundred fifty, the cake flavor, and the color scheme of the wedding. Jenny blames all the changes on her fiance, Bob and his mother. When Jenny questions Kay's demands, Kay challenges Jenny questioning her about whether or not Heart's Landing can handle her wedding. Jenny knows that the businesses Heart's Landing could not survive the negative from Kay if her wedding is not perfect. Nick falls in love with Jenny, a woman he believes is engaged to another man. The story is filled with bittersweet moments that I so enjoyed. I loved the friendship and romance between Jenny and Nick, how Nick does so many sweet things for Jenny, even though he thinks she can never be his. A surprise plot twist changes everything, and Jenny wonders what will happen to her relationship with her new "family" that she found in Heart's Landing, not to mention her Prince Charming. I loved the happily ever after. It was a perfect romance and I loved every page. The bonus is that there is a recipe for Lemon Bars at the end of the book. They sound delicious!

Ever-pleasing and organized Jenny is just this "bride," who is in way over her head. Bakery owner Nick reluctantly rushes in aid and at the expense of his heart. How will Jenny confess to these new friends who mean more to her daily? That may cost her everything.

This Hallmark movie-worthy book kept me awake quite late, but I was intrigued to the end. That ending was justifiable for the lack of sleep. Leigh Duncan's town of Heart's Landing should be on your book vacation list. Whether you're a bride-to-be, newlywed, unmarried or married for decades, this is a welcoming, interesting community. The townspeople are friendly and helpful, even if you are a fake fiancée who seems to often change her mind.

*Bonus: lemon bar recipe

I received a complimentary copy of the book without obligation. This review is my opinion.

I requested to read and review this book from Hallmark Publishing. This is the first book I read by Leigh Duncan. This is a classic Hallmark plot line and it was awesome. Reading this book I could picture the characters in my head and the setting. This is a book that any reader can appreciate! You cant help but cheer on the Heart Landing crew. You will love all the charming characters in this town and the ones that come into town. I can't wait to see Hallmark make this into a movie! This is going to be a great series I can't wait to read the second book in this Heart Landing series. And the fact that you get an original Hallmark recipe is amazing as well. Read this book you won't be disappointed!!

This is a super-cute, clean romance from the Hallmark collection, and it would be perfect for spring or summer. Our leading lady is trying to secretly organize a high-profile wedding, while ignoring her feelings for one of the wedding providers (both are single). There's a Bridezilla involved, and you'll want to smack her a few times, yet the big day seems to come together in the end without...too many...hitches. A feel-good, fun read!
