The Forgotten Orphan, you certainly won’t forget reading it. What a wonderful book, Maisie and her brother Jack get placed in the orphanage aged 4. They are separated and Maisie longs for her brother who she thinks may have been adopted. Maisie works hard , trying to keep out of trouble then along comes the war. You read through thinking surely no more can happen to this girl.
I confess it’s the first book I have read by Glynis Peters but be reassured it won’t be the last.

This new novel from Glynis Peters who also wrote The Secret Orphan is excellent.
It is based in Southampton in 1940 and based around the story of Maisie Reynolds. She was abandoned as a baby and seperate from her twin and grew up in a harsh Orphanage
A book full of emotion, secrets, hope and love..
Excellent writing and I would definitely recommend to anyone who lives historical fiction.

The Forgotten Orphan is a must read. Maisie and her twin brother were left at an orphanage at a very young age. Her brother was adopted but Maisie spent her entire life there. She was abused by the director and later finds out a shocking revelation.. In spite of her treatment she truly was a good person. She spent her life helping others as the war broke out and the orphanage was turned into a hospital for the soldiers. Maisie nursed the soldiers still tying to find out where she came from and what happened to her brother. The writing is smooth and the plot never ceases to surprise the reader. I didn’t want this book to end.
I highly recommend it.

Insightful story of a young woman who grew up in an orphanage without love. She was never put up for adoption and worked at the orphanage until it closed. The war took over the building to help house and care for the wounded. Maisie stayed to help and eventually learned nursing, and always looked for love...

Maisie Reynolds still remains at Holly Bush Orphanage Southampton, she has been forgotten, will remain an old maid at eighteen years old. Her twin brother Jack walked away with new parents and was lost to her, writing letters and pleading matron to send them on just fell on deaf ears.
Its 1940 and WW2 is on going and she wonders if even he was alive, all she is in the orphanage is a hired skivvy with no money, are there better times and changes ahead for Maisie? I just have to read on.
this book is breathtaking and I absolutely loved it all as we read through Maisies journey. The author has captured and unearthed secrets and problems for her.
Maisies letters and poems iIalso enjoyed , she is such a brave strong woman and survived
to set off on her new life to a new beginning.
What an inspirational story.

Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for allowing me to read this absolutely fantastic Arc.
Having read the previous two books I was really looking forward to reading The Forgotten Orphan. Boy I wasn't disappointed.
Based during World War11 we meet Maisie. Raised in an orphanage, but separated from her twin brother when he's adopted.
Read on to find out about her struggle to survive in the orphanage and during the war.
I tried my best to drag the book out and make it last. But I only lasted into the second day.
Beyond brilliant. This book will stay with me for a long time.

The Forgotten Orphan by Glynis Peters is a great historical fiction novel that takes place mainly in Southampton WWII.

I have been a fan of Ms. Peters for a while now and have read her previous two books: The Secret Orphan and The Orphan Thief (which were excellent by the way), so I knew I had to read this new book.

Here we get to meet Maisie Reynolds, a feisty, independent, intelligent, yet imperfect and flawed character that has been through a lot as a child. Seperated from her family and all that she knew and loved as a child, she grew up in an orphanage. Despite the bumps in the road of these adversities, Maisie still continues to hold out a spark of hope that there is purpose for her life, that there is a reason she is here, and she can somehow find her way during this time of war.

The author provides us with plenty of twists/turns and added points of interest to the storyline that kept me interested throughout (I won't divulge anything further as I do not want to spoil the story). During this time, she meets Harry Camden (Cam) and she hopes that in him she might find a bit of what she has been looking for all along.

This book presents such fundamental concepts such as: hope, love, perseverance, coming of age, finding one's purpose, forgiveness, and acceptance. I really enjoyed this story, the romance aspect between Maise and Cam, and the ending.

This book is for anyone that enjoys a great WWII storyline with a bit of mystery and romance added to create a well-rounded novel.

5/5 stars
