Chain of Gold is just getting us ready for another amazing series by Cassandra Clare

James Herondale and his demon magic is what I’m most excited for. Also Matthew just being Mathew. I’m so ready for that!

Ummm... Cassandra Clare does it again. I'm getting so tired of the Shadowhunter books and want her to do something new, but she's got me hook line and sinker once more. Loving this taste of these characters and I can't wait for my finished copy to come.

First off, the cover is brilliant, as with all her covers. But then we move to the story and it is so brilliantly written. Though it connects to previous series, it does not seem necessary to have read them. Cassandra Clare has a way of weaving her stories so new readers never feel left out.

"Lucie Herondale was ten years old when she first met the boy in the forest."
And like that.... I am instantly back. I've been an avid reader of Cassie Clare's works ever since I first read The Mortal Instruments series back in the 2010's. I feel like I have a long-time love affair with her novels and the fantastical elements to the mundane (pardon the pun) world within which they are initially set. Her characterisation is one of her strongest skills, and Chain of Gold is no exception!

I immediately felt included in Lucie's world and story and wanted to know more about her. I love that even though Chain of Gold is the beginning of a brand new series within Cassie Clare's Shadowhunters universe, there are little easter eggs dotted throughout all of her novels, creating moments of 'Oh! I know who they are....Or their ancestor is!" Likewise, the book is instantly accessible to a complete newbie to the Shadowhunter fandom. Dealing with a period within which the author could not have experienced as she would not have even been alive also makes her outstanding world-building all the better. Now, I'm not claiming to know what Victorian/Edwardian period was like, per se, yet Clare manages to make it seem believable and well-rounded. It's exactly (minus the demons and fantasy) as I would ever imagine it to be.

James' storyline really enticed me. I'm excited to see where that takes him throughout the book, and it's always exciting when a new element of a universe that's spanned countless books emerges. Once again, I think it's testament to Cassie's writing that she manages to, even after so many novels, introduce a new facet to be explored in-depth. And it seems natural, not like a desperate attempt to include something new!

The book seems to be getting set up for a sort of big hurrah in London with a LOT of big Shadowhunter names... and by hurrah I mean, something bad will defo happen. But it will make for a good story. I think this is going to be an absolute belter of a story. I cannot WAIT to get my hands on a complete copy!

I really enjoyed the excerpt, the writing is great and I really enjoyed the characters, from the little bit we get. I didn't want it to end and I'm super looking forward for the book release. It sure seems like a great new first book set in the Shadowhunters world. Can't wait :)

This cover is beyond gorgeous and the story is instantly intriguing. I love this world that Clare has invented and I just cannot wait to read the rest of Chain of Gold! I absolutely love Cassandra Clare and have read all of her books. I'm so anxious to get my hands on this one! Definitely a must read for me!

I was excited to read this excerpt, but with the download link not working, I'm unable to open the download.
I also wish, that there was some notification prior to Requesting/Downloading that specified what kind of Download it is - Kindle, EPub, etc.
I"m super excited to read this, but now, because of a legitimately faulty link, I'm unable to download, read and provide ay sort of genuine feedback of the book.
Since I have to rate this to even submit this feedback - mainly submitting it so that others know that there's an issue - MY RATING IS NOT A REFLECTION OF THE BOOK OR IT'S CONTENTS. I hate to rate it as a 1, so I'm rating it as a 3, for now.
If this problem is rectified, I'm positive my rating will change, as will my feedback.
NetGalley, fix this please.
