Oh my lord! What a great prologue and first chapter! I absolutely adore the Shadowhunter world. Cassandra Clare has done an amazing job. I'm so excited to jump back into the London Institute. I already adore James (I mean how could you not when his dad is Will Herondale)!

This was such a great teaser! Can't wait to get my hands on the book as soon as it is released!

I read the first couple of the original series and the first couple of the clockwork prince series, so I sort of knew what was going on. But it seems like it presupposes background knowledge of the world of shadowhunters. So I think it’s great for people familiar with the other series . Seemed on par with others I’ve read, and this preview made me want to revisit the clockwork prince series.

Just one chapter in, and I am already lost back in the world of the Shadowhunters, but this time we're following the adventures of another generation. Introducing Will and Tessa's children Lucie and James Herondale, plus Matthew Fairchild and Cordelia Carstairs, and the rest of their Shadowhunter crew. Then we have the elusive Grace Blackthorn and her family moving back to London. And who was the mysterious boy Lucie met in the woods 6 years ago....? Plus of course we have the usual healthy dose of demons and warlocks, and a battle to the death between good and evil (no doubt). 😯

I love that Cassandra Clare's books are always built on a foundation of family and friendship and loyalty, and it looks like The Last Hours series is following on with that tradition. Whilst it's wonderful knowing the 'family tree' of all the characters, having read every other Cassandra Clare book, I also get the feeling that you could just pick up this series and enjoy it as your first introduction to the Shadowhunter world.

It's going to be a 5 star read for sure. ✨✨✨✨✨

Omgomgomg!!!! So excited to get a chance to preread this excerpt. I started reading Cassandra Clare's Shadowhunter books (starting with The Infernal Devices) nearly 10 years ago and have been absolutely in love with the world she weaved. This book has been highly anticipated and for good reason!

Reading this was like sinking into my favorite lounge chair that I haven't sat in in a very long while. So familiar and welcoming. It just feels so right to be brought back into the fold. All the familiar names, places, terms, phrases came rushing back and it was so welcomed.

Love the characters already in just these few chapters alone and can already sense my favorites. I can't wait to read what adventures and trials they go through and where the already apparent love lines end up.

Missed this world and Cassandra Clare's writing. So excited to be back in it again with such promising characters and an enthralling back story to push us forward! Cannot wait to continue reading!

I didn't know quite what to expect when I started this book, as this is not the genre I normally read...

I was BLOWN AWAY!!! Holy moly. The characters were incredible, the story was beautifully written, and I found myself feeling like I was right there throughout the whole thing.

Chain of Gold is the first Cassandra Clare book (exerpt, in this case) I have picked up in a while and it has made me remember why her writing is so spellbinding! The other works I have read by this author are The Infernal Devices trilogy, which center around the parents of the main characters of this book--Lucie and James Herondale. This excerpt was the start of a new novel set in Edwardian London, which is what I think Clare does best. The book is already so vibrant and exciting, just like its beautiful cover. I cant wait to dive back into this world!

Honestly, I already loved Cassandra Clare's book and since I found out about yet a new trilogy, I easily got excited. Reading this excerpt made me not want to wait till the correct edition comes out, but I've gotta wait a little longer still.

I am incredibly excited to read the full book, and I think this snippet made me even more excited than before! Will and Tessa were my favorite parts of TID, Will being my favorite male character of all time, and getting the opportunity to read about their children, as well as reading about Shadowhunters in the 20’s (I am SO excited for this setting!!) is soso cool!! Absolutely cannot wait for March 3rd, thankfully we are so close to it being here!! Can’t wait to hold this in my hands.

While fantasy isn’t my usual genre, I really enjoyed this excerpt and would love to read more. Keeping track of all the characters was a bit daunting, but I’m sure with the whole book, they’d fall into place. The opening scene was especially magical and intriguing! I really enjoyed this! This is only the first chapter but I haven't read a book anything like this is such a long, long time so I loved getting back into fantasy. My only problem was keeping up with all the characters and their names, I found myself having to flick back to remember who they are/where they fit into the story but I think this might also be because I haven't read any of the Shadowhunters series before, so I had to try and understand the stuff that mentions those worlds. Clare has been on my TBR for so long and now her books are getting pushed to the top! I can't wait to read the full book!

Well the author who brought the Shadowhunters to glorious life is back and this quick excerpt was very interesting as it introduced the central characters. Obviously as its just a quick snippet so its difficult to guess what will happen next but the cover is absolutely gorgeous . Also if you enjoy something with an historical element then this will surely hit the spot as the characters face off against more demons whilst trying to negotiate through society.

First of all, I can't believe I read an excerpt from Chain of Gold!!! I loved it so so much. I can not wait to own a physical copy of Chain of Gold. This follows Cordelia Carstairs, Matthew Fairchild, and Lucie Herondale. They each are struggling with their own things when a series of demon attacks start in London. Now, these three shadowhunters must face off the demons. I am so excited about the release of this book!!! I feel Cassandra Clare has really evolved as a writer. Definitely, without a doubt, A MUST READ!
