I am so excited about this book! As a long follower of Cassie Clare, my favorite series was always the Clockwork Angel, since it dealt with both my favorite shadow hunter (hello, Will) and history. Now she makes her return for a historical time period in this book, and I could not be happier.
I can already tell that I will like Cordelia, I should not be surprised, Cassie has a habit of creating loveable and strong heroines. I can not wait to read the rest of this book and see where this series takes us!

Cassie Clare continues to outdo herself with the first novels in her series. I was hesitant that this book would struggle to make the stakes as high, seeing as it is set in 1903 and so we know the Shadow World can't break apart or be destroyed, but I can tell with this first book that the stakes will still be plenty high. More than that, I can tell that this is going to be a wonderful, character-driven series with more Cassie Clare characters to love than ever before.

Absolutely love the progression I've seen from Cassandra Clare over the years. I do have to admit I struggle at times to re-read her older books, but The Infernal Devices is one of my favourite series so of course I can't wait for this series!

This has gotten me super excited to read the full book!

I love this excerpt so much. This was one of my highly anticipated books. I can't wait to read more of this world.

My feedback is based solely on this excerpt, because I've been meaning to read one of the Shadowhunter books that take place in the past, but never did.
It wasn't confusing to understand, since the author explained the terms and concepts very briefly, and it seems to be a nice mix of adventure with the elements of romance, humor and friendship. I also liked the period details that made the setting very interesting without disrupting the narrative.

Great beginning for what appears to be a fascinating novel on Shadowhunters at the turn of the 20th century.

Well first off James is probably going to be a favorite, because we're all suckers for black hair cuties. The first look definitely leaves you asking so many questions, because you know something is going on if demons are being scarce because come on Shadowhunters are good, but come on there's a bunch of demons! And you know something is going on with miss Daisy's dad. BUT WHAT!?!
Also James can slip into hell but what can Lucie do besides be very very pleased about things. Ooo I need to know all these answers!!!

I wasn't going to get sucked in to another Shadowhunter series. I'd love to see Cassandra Clare create a new world with completely different characters. Nevertheless, this short snippet left me wanting more, I need to know what happens next.

Reading now! Highly anticipated! Clare is a brilliant author. Her imagination is phenomenal. So far, I am loving the character building as well as the plot. I will be recommending this novel in store. Thank you Cassandra Clare!

Curiousity got me on this one since I barely managed to read any of her other books, but this one was good; the narrative is so inmersive and detailed.

Captivating characters in a well-developed and magical world - this excerpt left me even more excited about Cordelia, James and Lucie's journey! Clare's writing makes the demons and creatures come to life. In addition, the setting in London is absolutely perfect. I can't wait to read this series.

Although I haven't read the rest of the series, the first pages are enough to make me want to. There seems to be a whole new universe to discover within an already known one. The author has a great style, way much better than in her first books, and that alone makes the reading more attractive.

I am so excited for this release! All of the characters are so interesting, and I already have several ships forming. Thomas Lightwood is the sweetest, and how on Earth could anyone NOT love Lucie Herondale? I still need to be sold on Cordelia and James, but I am certain that Cassandra Clare can be the one to do it!

Can't wait to read the whole book! I think it is very interesting to see more of this world in the Victorian era, which adds up to the idea that the Infernal Devices is my favorite trilogy from Cassandra.

Oh I am so happy to be back in Clare’s shadowhunter world. I have missed it!

Considering the cast of these books are coming off of the Infernal Devices cast I can’t imagine I’ll have anything it love (and immeasurable heartache if history is to repeat itself) are anything to go by.

The prologue already has me itching to plunge deeper into Lucie’s life. I cannot WAIT for t(e book to be published!

A intriguing start to what I am sure will be another great Cassandra Clare trilogy. The characters, the worlds, the demon fighting from he beginning makes me want to rush out and buy the rest of the book. It has been while since I have read a Cassandra Clare book, but I am looking forward to continuing with this one.
Thank you for the opportunity of reading this advanced excerpt.

Another little sneak peek into my thoughts based on a book! This excerpt only contained one chapter from Chain of Gold, the book to start the series I've literally been waiting yearsssss for. Really. I remember this series getting announced like, half a decade ago. Needless to say, I am very excited to return not just to this world, but to these characters.

Tessa.
Gray.
Will.
Herondale.

Two of my favs. I'm excited to see everybody though: Cecily, Charlotte, Gideon, Sophie, etc., etc., and. . . Jem. *swoons* I know that the series follows their children, and I'm looking forward to getting to know them all, but there's something tenderly nostalgic about being able to check in on the characters we said good-bye to in The Infernal Devices.

So- the non-spoilery tea. Here it is:
I want more.
Even if there was more to the excerpt than the first chapter, I think I'd still be saying this. We all know Cassandra Clare is a phenomenal writer and her characters are so robust, but I'm genuinely curious about the plot of this trilogy now. There's a very brief moment before the first chapter that I won't describe at all (muahahaha), but I'll just say it is a solid hook. I'm in. I was before for the characters, but now I'm in for the plot as well. There's not much more I can say besides that I want more. There was a hook, some setup, and some introductions, but nothing much more substantive to comment on. This excerpt was like being able to smell a delicious meal- it was great, but now I just want the meal even more.
