Sisters Autumn and Ember Somerset are doing a wonderful job of continuing to run an animal-rescue farm their grandparents started. They will take in any animal, no matter to cost or expected difficulty. The sisters live in their grandparents home, redesigned and turned into a duplex. Their parents live on the property and the girls show loving attention to their needs. Autumn is a designer and Ember is a builder, and they love working with and protecting the animals and they have a full-time to handle things when they are doing other work.
When Tash Ducker asks the sisters to work on his house in order to provide things that will make his daughter feel happy and secure after the death of her mother, Autumn begins consulting him on the designs that will work for the both of them. Meanwhile, animals that need rescuing and care are also provided for by Autumn and Ember. When the design plans are complete, Ember will step in and begin the building phase for Tash and his daughter.
Tash is no stranger to either sister. As a matter of fact, he is the object of her teenage crush. Not only do Tash and Autumn soon realize that business and pleasure will soon mix, Ember is quickly on her own road to romance.
The Somerset Girls is a truly heartwarming story on several levels. Not only is the bond between sisters truly refreshing, the tender loving care they show their parents is remarkable. Also, Tash's daughter Sadie is a delight, and I loved her role in this book. Quite naturally, the romance that bloomed between Tash and Amber was wonderful. Then there was the secondary love story when it came to Ember that was enjoyable. Last, but not least, the animals. I loved each and every rescue as the animals showed up in the story. Lori Foster has hit another one out of the park. I can't wait to read her next book.
Many thanks to Harlequin and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

Autumn and Ember run an animal rescue farm. They bring in animals that have been abused. Care for them, and hopefully find them forever homes.
At first Ember made me a little upset at how she spoke to her sister Autumn. Soon though, once I heard her story and got to know her better, I liked her a lot. She wasn't trying to be mean, in fact she was trying to be helpful. Mike, the hot guy who had been working on the farm, teased her constantly and was a thorn in her side and starred in her dreams, pointed out that maybe Ember needed to rephrase some of her comments. Soon those two grew close and had a heart to heart talk and cleared some misunderstandings up. I loved Mike , even though he could be a bit judgy, until he too learned a few things. To say their love story was great and charming and funny and hot would be an understatement.
Autumn was a gorgeous , full figured woman..who had no clue she was...the gorgeous part anyway. Tash was the guy she had crushed on in high school. Him being 2 years older and her being shy was an obstacle back then . He came back to town years later with an adorable 7 yr old daughter Sophie. Feelings quickly form between Tash and Autumn and Sophie. There are things in their pasts you will learn about that are heartbreaking. Issues they all need to deal with in their own way and with the help of each other. Tash and Autumn are wonderful together but at one point Tash totally confuses me. You'll know what I mean when you get there. I thought at one point, "What? But you said? Oh my gosh man tell her what you want!" Needless to say he did so they did and... ..yeah. SO along with all the amazing humans in this story...including Tracy and Flynn, Autumn and Embers parents, we get to meet the amazing Povlov who has a way with scared animals. Olivia and her sister Matilda, and Tracy. You will meet them all, you will fall for them all and want to take them home. There are a few more but there should be a bit more mystery when you are reading this yourself. Agreed?
I have tried not to give too much away other than the fact that this was a great story with wonderful characters.

5/5 hoofs/paws!

Set in Kentucky in the middle of summer, there is more heating up then just the weather. Autumn and Ember are two sisters who live on their animal rescue farm. They both have complicated pasts and with the unconditional love of a sister and some not so gentle prodding they are looking to move ahead with their lives. I adored the sister bond in this book. They were there for each other and they pushed each other when they needed some pushing, and the men in their lives, Tash and Mike were such strong, likeable characters. These men and their relationships with Autumn and Ember provided relationships that could be rooted for. My favorite character in the book though, belonged to seven year old, Sadie. She is the conduit to everything in the book. With her childlike innocence that could allow her to simply blurt out truths and her adoring, unconditional love, it made her so endearing. Such an enjoyable start to the summer with The Somerset Girls.

Have you ever read a book that transported you into its world?
The Sommerset Girls was that book for me. I immediately fell in love with these characters. They had me laughing and crying and feeling as if I was right there with them.
Ms. Foster has created a wonderfully crafted story that will capture your attention and leave you hoping it will never end.
I would highly recommend this amazing story.
Thank you to Netgalley for allowing me to express my honest opinion of this story.

An amazing book. Ms. Foster does an amazing job of sharing the dynamics between the sisters, Autumn and Ember, as well as the dynamics with their parents. I love that the book is really about the lives and loves of both sisters . One of my favorites this year!

This was my first book by this author, It was pretty enjoyable. I would give this book a 4 star rating! It was a pretty Quick and easy read!

Lori Foster never fails to give you a story full of amazing characters who pull you in from the start. I love the spunk and personalities of the sisters and their ability to know when the other needs them. This story have five very amazing characters and a farm full of rescue animals. Great story about finding the one you want to spend your life with. Highly recommend adding this book to your TBR list.

The Somerset Girls is a fun read. The first half of the book was slow to start, but around the 60% mark the book really picked up. I felt that the story was slow to start and I struggled reading it, I almost gave up and did not finish the book but I am glad I hung in there. Once the characters had some personal growth in the book really took off. I could not put it down. This is a fast and fun summer read. It is a romance, but not too over the top.

I loved this story! Love the bond Autumn and Ember have and how much they want to take care of all the abandoned animals. When Autumn's old crush comes back to town with his daughter, I just smiled at her antics! I loved the slow way that both girls come to find love, not sudden, just a slow progression for each of them. This would be a great sit on the beach read, or curl up on the couch on a rainy day read. I wish it was a little longer, or maybe there's room for a sequel?? :)

Can you imagine running a farm animal rescue?
Me either... but that's what Autumn and Ember do when their grandparents leave them one. They take on the challenge of doing just that - running the farm animal rescue, which takes in all animals of all sizes! The sisters are just as different as the animals they are working together to care for and each finds themselves working through their issues.
This quick, light, fun read kept me smiling and laughing. Highly recommended for anyone looking to bust out of a reading slump or for someone who loves animals!
Thank you Netgalley for allowing me to read this and give my honest opinion!

Lori always delivers amazing stories. The way she weaves issues that everyone deals with at one time or another into the story is masterful.

3.5*
The Somerset Girls is a light, easy, read- perfect for a lazy weekend afternoon. Although my sister and I no longer have a relationship, it’s nice to read about ones like Autumn and Ember- opposites who may not agree on everything but are always there for each other, no matter what. I liked the way they bantered, but still had the other’s back when needed- especially Ember. She didn’t hold back when it came to wanting Autumn to step out of her comfort zone, but she was also the first one there to defend and “protect” her when needed.
I enjoyed the the way Ms. Foster was able to weave Autumn and Ember’s stories together. Considering they work and live together it would have been hard to have one’s story without the other- it would have felt like something was missing! They may have been complete opposites- Autumn the quiet, unassuming bookworm, and Ember, the vivacious, outgoing, “party girl”, but deep down they both were dealing with some very personal issues. I appreciated how Ms. Foster handled those issues- not allowing the story to be weighed down by them, but also not glossing over them.
The romances were sweet- well Autumn and Tash’s was, I’d say Ember and Mike’s was more on the spicy side! Which actually fit for these sister’s personalities. I loved that Tash put his daughter as a priority, wanting to make sure she felt safe and loved after her world was turned upside down. Sadie was such a sweetheart, I just wanted to hug her!
This was a definite feel-good story, all around.

Loved this heartwarming, sweetly thrilling journey filled with engaging charters, witty dialog, emotionally deep sisterhood and exciting side of romance. Really loved this highly entertaining and very fun journey.

Great story! This is a farm I would live on in a heartbeat! Autumn and Tash were great together and had mutual love for the animals and his daughter. Ember and Mike were also a great pair, their banter was fun. Not quite women's fiction, which I actually love!

This is a feel good romance and woman's lit story. Autumn and Ember are sisters who are close but as different as could be but come together to start an animal rescue farm. They each have a side story with different romances, one sweet and one spicy, and even though they banter like sisters they have each other's back and no one should try to come between them. This was typical Lori Foster at her best and it has a high recommendation from me. This would be a perfect summer weekend read or this summer it would make an anytime read!

A perfect time for a feel good romance. These two sisters are super close, but yet so different. They have each other's best interests at heart, tho' they don't always agree on exactly what that is. The whole story kind of revolves around the animal rescue started by Autumn and Ember, with the farm they inherited. Love this and will never, ever tire of beloved fur babies in a journey, no matter what either may be, preferring happy endings, no matter how rocky the start. Their very attuned Pavlov, picked himself to be the mascot and official greeter of Fresh Start Farm.
Autumn's old crush from high school comes back to Sunset, KY, with his adorable daughter, and this time around, he notices Autumn right back. When the whole family decides it's the right thing, they certainly do their part to ensure Autumn and Tash get a bit of quality alone time. And by the whole family, I'm including Mike, the all around handyman who's been with them for a few years now, and who they can't seem to get along without, especially Ember, despite her seemingly partyish style. Yeah, there's more to Mike, more to Ember, and more to their romance.
The hilarity of a family living extremely close together, small towns and all that entails, will have you feeling quite good, along with a lot of LoL moments. Feeling the love here that runs deep! A gossip line that just runs, Autumn has a bit of a history thats needs to stay just that. Lucky for her, she has volunteers that want to help her out--oh, joy!
I haven't mentioned Tash very much, except he's a great father--wasn't looking for love, but it found him anyway. I usually do prefer reads that have more to the romantic journey, and making both mains stand out, so would've liked more on him, and them together.
The writing style infused with all the witticisms had me snort laughing often no matter the scenario, always visible in my mind too.
There are definite serious and troubling aspects here also, some concerning sweet Sadie that will make you just want to cuddle and protect her forever, which is kind of what happened with the whole Somerset family when they got to meet Sadie. She was written beautifully as a precocious 7 year old, with that wonderful wisdom beyond her years and a cutie patootie to boot, she added so much goodness.
Women's fiction/romance, stand alone, easy read. Lighter side.

4.6 stars
This is a truly heartfelt and warm story that gives one all the good feels. Autumn and her sister Ember are continuing to run the animal rescue farm founded by their grandparents and will do whatever it takes to succeed and take care of those animals in need. Along with the farm, Autumn is a designer and her sister is a builder. Together they make a perfect team. Tash is a single father who has recently moved back to his hometown and enlists the help of the sisters to remodel his home and make it special for his daughter as she is coping with the loss of her mother. Autumn had a crush on Tash when they were back in high school. Will business and pleasure mix? As a secondary romance, Ember finds herself getting involved with Mike a ranch hand. This is another wonderful character driven storyline from Ms. Foster that will have you wanting more. I volunteered to read an advance copy provided by Netgalley.

Insert a slew of **EEKS* and *SQUEELS* here. Lori is back with a new and just in time for summer and a little escape from the real-life social distancing world.
Autumn and Ember Somerset are running an animal rescue farm that their grandparents had started. Insert Tash Ducker. He needs consultant help with a house he wants to improve so his daughter can feel safe, secure, and happy after her mother had passed away. Ember is a designer. She needs to help build the sanctuary for the animals but has agreed to help Tash with the housing plans.
Autumn loves romance novels but living out the fairytale isn't something she believes in, at the moment, after she was jilted at the alter. Ember, too, as suffered her heartaches, but shields her romantic woes. Each sister is destined to find what they are seeking but it is the journey that they embark upon that makes this novel sometimes laugh out loud, heartwarming and a delicious read.
Lori is one of the greats and this one proves why she has stays at the top! Five out of five stars, for sure!

I very much enjoyed this book. I’m not usually a reader of women’s fiction, which this book is categorized as. I’m more of a romance fan, because I always want a happy ending. So while there are definite elements in this story which reflect the women’s fiction genre, I’d argue that it’s equally a romance, but with two couples instead of just one.
I thought all the characters were wonderfully written. Ms. Foster has a great handle on developing intriguing personalities, some this reader loved and some she tolerated. While Tracy and Patricia are annoying, I didn’t hate either one. Even Autumn’s ex, who’s a skunk, inspired very little feeling in me. He’s was more of an annoyance...more like a fly to be snatched away. I liked both male leads, Mike more than Tash (that name bugs me) honestly. Sadie was an adorable spitfire. She’s my favorite character in the book and her happiness was my greatest concern.
So, here my issue with the story. Autumn and Ember are great. I thought their sisterly relationship was powerful and real. While sisters can be very different..in looks, temperament, personality...I really do not like the portrayal of body size used as often as it is. I find it infuriating that the “small” sister is the ideal body size. The “big-boned” one...I HATE that phrase...is the self conscious one. Can we break that mold please. While I do not want any female...fictional or real...to have body image problems, not every thin woman is happy with their body, nor is every larger woman unhappy with theirs.
That’s my beef with the book. I did like it, I read it all in one sitting and was very satisfied with the growth in characters and the ending. I’m always going to be a Lori Foster fan, and whatever issues I have with a storyline aren’t going to change that. Because of that, my rating gained a half star to make this a 4 star instead of a 3.5.

I loved everything about this book - the farm setting, the animals and the fun & flirty romances. The Somerset Girls is a wonderful story filled with love, laughter, friendship and family. I hope there will be more books set in Sunset, Kentucky!
