Abigail is thought by many to be simple, purely because of a speech issue that has troubled her all her life.
Robert has inherited his aunt's estate and is met with scepticism by the local gentry.

A charming story highlighting the need to not judge others, but rather to get to know them personally and value who they are.

I enjoyed getting to know Hazel Wilkins and hope to see her have her own story in the future.

This is a very sweet romance! Abigail suffers from a speech impediment and is verbally and emotional abused by her grandmother (and shunned by the town) because of it. It made me so sad how horribly she was treated. Robert and his family are so kind to her and help her to realize her worth. Such a tender read.

Chalon Linton can be a hit or miss for me. Adoring Abigail was by far a hit for me. I thought it was great read and her best work to date. Five stars.

I adored this book! Abigail hasn't had an easy life, living in the 1800's England with a speech impediment. Her parents died leaving her to live with her grandmother, who along with much of society, thinks her speech makes her dumb and slow but new heir and new neighbor, Richard does not. He quickly falls in love but runs into the issue of a very forward vicar. I enjoyed this story as it's a quick and easy, pretty believable story.

Captain Robert Wilkins has finished his military service and is presented an estate by his aunt and instantly comes into wealth. He doesn't understand why he was chosen as her heir but he is determined to do right by her and continue to do good with the wealth he has received. It is time for him to settle down and find a companion.

Abigail Rutherford lives with her grandmother and is the neighbor to Mr. Wilkin's estate. She is a beautiful woman who has ridiculed all of her life for a speech impediment that she cannot seem to control. She is told repeatedly that no one will ever want her because her beauty can't hid her defects. While out on a morning walk at Mr. Wilkin's estate, she meets the new owner and is immediately put at ease by their interaction. She is told that she can walk on the estate grounds any time she wishes. The connection that Abigail and Robert feel is palpable and real but can Abigail trust her feelings.

Mr. Mead is the handsome vicar who is supported by Mr. Wilkin's estate but Mr. Mead is rather caustic in his interactions with Mr. Wilkins. Mr. Mead has set his eyes on Abigail Rutherford and is determined to make her his wife, at any cost. Is it too late for Robert and Abigail to find happiness with one another.

I loved how protective Robert was with Abigail. He is such a wonderful man with good values and intentions to all. I felt the heartbreak and disappointment every time Abigail was ridiculed or made to feel that she was defective in some way by others, even by those who should have loved her and supported her and I hated the controlling nature of Mr. Mead. These elements all combined to tell a wonderful story of salvation and freedom and love. Robert's mother and sister, Hazel, were wonderful characters, too, who supported Abigail and included her in their circle and didn't listen to the gossipmongers of their small town.

This was a clean romance that told a wonderful story. This is my first experience with this author but I look forward to more from her.

I was given an arc copy of this book and I willingly offer my honest review.

I read this book in just a few hours. It is the sweetest romance I've read in a while.
Abigail is an orphan who has lived with her Grandmother for the past 7 months, she has been ridiculed and put-down for her entire life because she has a speech impediment. When she moves in with her Grandmother she believes things may be different, but unfortunately, they are not.
Robert Wilkins is the new heir to Cattersley, the largest estate in the area. He is a recently returned Captain in the Army and feels he is in over his head. How can he ever hope to learn everything he needs to know to effectively run this estate?
They both realize that the local gentry is snobbish and rude, but they also want to take the high road and show them the error of their ways.
Along the way, they find love and hope.

I liked that the heroine was not perfect and had to deal with a problem with her speech. The goodness of her new neighbors, the Wilkins family, really stood out since at that time her challenge was considered a deal breaker.

This was a lovely and sweet regency romance. Ms. Linton did a wonderful job tying in a speech issue with the main character, which is not something I commonly see in regency novels. Because of the main character, Abigail's, difficulty in pronouncing her "r"s, people have always assumed she was dumb. But there is so much more to her and I love how Robert starts to see that and helps her build her confidence. Any good regency has a couple of despicable characters, and this novel was no exception. I sometimes wanted to reach through the book and shake Abigail's grandmother and punch Mr. Mead in the face. However, all ends are tied up perfectly and I thoroughly enjoyed this!

This was a sweet, enjoyable read. It was slow at first, and I nearly lost a desire to continue, just because of the pacing, but then all of a sudden there were some very fun scenes and interesting plots that interweaved together! The scene at the "picnic" was so imaginative and fun, and that was where I began to be truly invested in the book.

Abigail was sweet and understandable, and Robert was a great hero. I loved that their affection for each other was clear from the start but took some time to truly develop. But along with that time came one thing that I didn't quite understand. Mr. Mead was such an insistent character in so many ways, but he let their courtship continue for far longer than I would have expected.

The conflict in the end did not seem horribly insurmountable, but it was perfectly weighted because the rest of the book contained such a difficult life for Abigail. Plus, the Grandmother's total 180 at the end felt a little insincere, but I still appreciated it because it tied things up nicely.

And man. THAT KISS. It was written in a short and sweet way, but you could feel that it was anything but, and I loved the timing of it!! SO good.

This cleverly written historical romance was a great read. The characters were flawed but worked tirelessly to overcome their faults and to be accepted in their places. Great characters, well written, and a cute story.

Abigail has a speech impediment, and unfortunately lives during a time period when society was incredibly ignorant and judged her as less intelligent based on her speech. Her own family shuns her for it, and she now is largely quiet.
Robert Wilkins, a second son, was a successful, but humble, military captain during the Napoleonic war, and he's just inherited a grand estate from an aunt he never knew.
Abigail and Robert forge a friendship that gently grows, but Abigail is the target of a hypocritical vicar who will stop at nothing to claim Abigail as his wife.
I think this was Chalon Linton's best work yet. I throughly enjoyed the story. The ending was wrapped up sweetly, and perhaps too well. (It was a bit over the top how EVERYTHING worked out neatly and perfectly.) But it was a wonderful escape. 4 stars.

I loved this book! Abagail has a problem saying her r’s and she is treated like she is slow by others because of it. Robert has just inherited a great estate and is feeling overwhelmed. Abagail brings sunshine and peace to Robert and he and his family are the only one’s who treat Abagail normal. The two make a great pair but someone wants to keep them apart.

This sweet Regency romance set in 1818 England kept my interest from the intriguing beginning to the satisfying ending! The characters are well-developed, endearing, and memorable. The emotionally rich story flows at a fitting pace as the romance between Robert, the master of Cattersley estate, and Abigail, a lovely young girl with a speech impairment, delightfully unfolds despite a duplicitous Vicar and a critical, domineering grandmother. The story is told in first person alternating dialogues by Robert and Abigail. Although I usually prefer a third person narrative, the first person style works perfectly for this story giving deeper insight into the characters’ thoughts and feelings. I thoroughly enjoyed this easy-to-read book and look forward to reading other works by Ms. Linton.

It was truly a pleasure to read this clean Regency romance by author Chalon Linton. Although it was not fast-paced, I was immediately drawn in to the story by the interactions of the authentic and endearing main characters, Abigail and Robert. While faced with some significant and unforeseen obstacles, it was very satisfying to watch the hero and heroine’s budding friendship and slow-simmering romance develop. Even the supporting characters were an interesting mix and added dimension to the story. I would love to see Hazel star in her own book one day!
All in all, Adoring Abigail was a relaxing and fulfilling read and left me feeling warm and cozy, like sipping a savory and delicious mug of hot chocolate. I definitely recommend the book and this author!

I always enjoy a good regency. This was a nice read. I kept feeling like I was missing something tho. I think the characters needed to be developed more. It was a sweet story but getting closer to the end it started to drag and nothing was happening. It was a nice slow moving romance but then it was like come on, come on! This was squeaky clean and very much stuck to the regency time period.

This was a sweet story, with a hero and heroine you can’t help but root for. I though Abigail was such a unique protagonist. She is kind and gentle, but her speech impediment makes her shy and more introverted. She has lived with the disdain and mocking of those closest to her throughout her life due to her speech, and yet I loved how kind and positive she tried to be.

Robert was such a likeable hero. Risen to the ranks of wealth and prominence with his aunt’s passing, he is a good man at his core. I loved how he and Abigail interacted.

There were multiple misunderstandings that arose due to a lack of communication, which sometimes made me want to shake the characters, but it lead to a good buildup in the plot and a very satisfying climax and ending. A sweet regency story where two lonely souls find one another and choose to love.

Adoring Abigail is a sweet and clean historical Regency romance. This is the first book I have read from this author and I will be reading more from her. I loved this story. It is original. I also loved heroine, and hero and most of all the amazing ending. It is swoon worthy with a happily ever after.

Adoring Abigail is a clean, wholesome Regency era romance which was enjoyable and sweet. It was easy to feel Abigail’s distress when her family and others mocked her speech problems and felt she was unintelligent because of it. I cheered for her when Robert Wilkins and his family accepted her and actually showed they enjoyed her company and opinions. Chalon Linton kept up the tension and suspense to the end. This is the first book that I’ve read by Linton, but I’m looking forward to reading others.
