Always love Tilllys book especially at this time. Enjoyed all the different characters and the drama of the weddings. Loved the cat with his own personality and the way he chose to have two owners.

Easily one of my favourite books from Tilly Tennant. This had so much that I enjoy in a book...

...cats
...weddings
....enemies to lovers style romance
... and incredibly fast to read!

Ok well maybe it was only one cat but it definitely had at least two families, and multiple names, plus he was instrumental in Lara and Theo even meeting.

Oh and Lara's ex-boyfriend Lucien is an utter nightmare, I really enjoyed disliking him!

And I loved the various weddings that Lara was working on, plus the various bride-zillas she comes across.

This is light hearted, feel good fun and worked really well for me a poolside read on holiday! It's always a pleasure to read a Tilly Tennant book, my only regret was leaving it so long on my kindle before I finally started reading it.

Thank you to Bookouture and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

Hi yes. I adore books that include animals and this one had a matchmaking cat! (safe to say this is now an absolute favourite of mine).

Another lovely book by this author I really enjoyed the characters and I thought it was a great idea of having the cat that brought the two of them together. Perfect light summer read.

Received an ARC from Netgalley in exchange for a honest review. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own

A really cute book. I liked it

I had quite a few issues with this book. I requested it because from the blurb, it sounded light and fluffy and with a cat as a supporting character. I thought it would be a nice book to pick up to allow myself some breathing room after having read something a little heavier.

Unfortunately, I found it really hard to enjoy. I would find myself putting the book down and actively looking for something else to read. I really didn't feel as though the main characters had any kind of connection and when they interacted, it felt forced and un-natural.

The book itself was too slow for my liking and it felt as though it took a ridiculous amount of time before it actually got going.

The Break Up was my second book by Tilly Tennant and was a really cute read. After reading two thrillers in a row, it was a great palate cleanser.
Lara is devastatingly broken up with by her charismatic yet despicable boyfriend; in the same evening she learns her best friend has been pursuing a relationship with him, and Lara is absolutely heartbroken by this great loss.
Fast forward to a year later, Lara is running a successful wedding planning business and loves her sweet cat, Fluffy. Fluffy has been disappearing for stretches of time, and in her quest to find where he has been running off to, Lara meets an attractive yet combative neighbour.
The premise of the book was a cute one, but some parts felt rushed/didn’t mesh for me. Who has a successful startup and is able to hire an employee - and discuss giving them a raise, within the first year of business? The romance that blossomed was a bit cute but also didn’t feel fully fleshed. Overall, a good book to pick up to lightheartedly pass the time, but don’t expect anything earth-shattering

This was a lovely romance read! I only gave this 3 stars as I felt it wasn’t anything out of the box special, just a regular romance book. That being said, I did really enjoy it! We get to follow Lara as she has been dumped by her boyfriend who then goes on to shack up with her best friend. Then along comes fluffy, a cat that she ends up looking after until she discovers that fluffy has actually been spending half the time at Lara’s house and half the time at Theos and so their friendship and romance blossoms whilst Lara also gets her wedding planning business up and running. Again, it was a pleasant read, but I just didn’t find it that special or memorable.

The previous title, A Cat Called Cupid, and the description of two people who are brought together by a cat really got my attention. I almost DNF the book, but wanted to give it a chance. I disliked Lara, the main character, and Theo. There was no chemistry, and I didn't find the story compelling. Sorry, not a fan of the book at all.

The Breakup is an absolutely charming romantic book. So much so, that I devoured it within one day because I just had to follow the two main characters' relationship. Enemies-to-lovers is my favorite romantic trope and Tennant does a wonderful job in creating a super-sweet, engaging story to show how Lara and Theo belong together. Also, I love that so much of the story revolves around the cat. I have not read other Tilly Tennant books but will definitely pick them up after reading this one.

I really enjoyed this book all the way through. It had a really good plot, great main characters and really keeps you hooked on the plot. I would highly recommend this book.

I tried. Really I did. The concept grabbed me, especially with the original title (A Cat Called Cupid). Sadly, the story itself did not.

I found Lara's emotions a bit over-the-top. Fluctuating from gasping in shock to fuming in outrage in the span of a few paragraphs made her seem a bit ... unhinged at times. When this happened I would set the book down and go away for a while, sometimes forgetting to return to the story for weeks!

Still, I plowed on because I love stories set in the UK. And ... cat.

Sadly, I threw in the towel on this one when Lara's big confrontation with her ex and her former best friend happened off page. There had been so much build-up, so many references to how she was still affected by it and her family still talked about it a year later, and we didn't see any of it other than they showed up at the same location she was at. If I wanted to be left unsatisfied, I'd still be married.

I wish I'd enjoyed this more.

It's a year after Lara's boyfriend Lucien, dumped her for her best friend. Life is gradually getting back to normal when she meets Theo. They meet through their cats job and sparks start to fly.

This is a warm and sweet romantic read, both entertaining and emotional. I absolutely enjoyed it. The only issue I had was with the slow start.

Not sure why they changed the previous name, A Cat Called Cupid, to The Break Up. The 1st was such an apt name!! I give this book 4 stars. Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for providing me with an ARC of this book.

I love all Tilly Tennant books and this is no exception! What a charming romance story this was. The pacing was solid and the story was engaging. Definitely a light read for these summer nights. I didn't love all of the characters but that didn't stop me enjoying it. Can't wait to read the next one from Tilly!

Perfect COVID-19 escapism reading! The worst thing that happens is that a cat gets hit by a car, but survives. TW for those who have had a large bill at the veterinarian's office.

The descriptions of Chester made me add it to my UK travel wishlist.

I received this book with the title "A Cat Called Cupid," which wasn't wholly accurate, as the cat has several other names for most of the book. But I'm not sure how accurate "The Break Up" is either--which breakup is it referring to--the narrator's with her jerky ex-boyfriend or the on-again, off-again nature of the current relationship?

Thanks to the publishers and NetGalley for a digital ARC for the purpose of an unbiased review.
