Mums and Mayhem by Amanda Flower is the 3rd book in A Magic Garden Mystery series, and another great adventure. Fiona Knox's Godfather, Ian MacCallister, died and left her his cottage in Edinburgh, Scotland so she moved there and became keeper of the magic garden. Fiona's sister, Isla, comes to Scotland for the summer to help Fiona open Climbing Rose Flower Shop, and decided to stay. Fiona volunteered to help with a homecoming concert for fiddle player Barley McFee, which is turning into more work than she expected. Fiona's parents are coming for a visit from Tennessee, and Fiona is hoping to get her paternal questions answered. When Fiona finds Barley McFdead in his trailer, her father become a person of interest. Fiona must find the real killer before he is arrested. Amanda Flowers is such a great author, I love all her series and can't wait for the next book to come out. There are twists and turns around every corner. If you love fun cozy mysteries, I strongly recommend this book/series.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Fiona is settling in to her new home & business in Bellewick, Scotland. She’s dating chief inspector Neil Craig & still trying to get the hang of being the owner of an inherited magical garden. She’s also joined the business owners committee that’s working on the welcome home concert of famous musician Barley McFee. Add to that Fiona’s parents have come to visit her & her sister Isla, you could say that her plate is full. When Barley turns up dead & her father could be the prime suspect, she’s got to work at solving another murder to save someone she loves. All while revealing more family secrets that have begun to surface.

This is another fun & charming book to add to the series. In it we get to know a little more about Fiona & her family which is a plus. I also like that she’s dating Neil already & the author didn’t drag it out for too many books. The town, the townspeople & Fiona’s family are all becoming familiar & it’s a pleasure to dive into the world each time. I enjoyed the actual mystery very much as well. I think overall the magical garden series is worth reading & I’ll read the future books.

Magical garden. Inheritance issues. Music festival. Scotland. Americans. Murder.
This series is my favorite by Amanda Flower. it is always a joy to read about the Magical Garden in Scotland.
The American in Scotland inherited the Magical Garden from Uncle Ian. Her parents are visiting from the States. Her sister Isla fell in love with a Scottish man. It looks like the American sisters will stay in Scotland.
In this mystery, a famous musician comes back to the village for a music festival. People in the village are working and putting together the music festival. I loved that line about how Americans like everything new and modern while the Scottish like everything old and traditional.

"Mums and Mayhem" is a cozy mystery set in Scotland. Fiona Knox owns a florist shop in a small Scottish village. Great excitement abounds as the town prepares to welcome home Barley McFee, a native musician who is a now famous fiddler. When Barely is murdered during his stay there, Fiona assists the police in solving the crime. Throw in Fiona's parents and sister, a magical garden, and old grudges, and you have the basis for an interestingly lively cozy mystery. The characters are likeable and add humor and dimension to the story. All is wrapped up at the end, after several plot twists that will leave readers guessing.
I received this novel from the publisher and from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. The opinions expressed here are entirely my own.

Fiona is an American raised on a Tennessee farm. She inherits property and a garden in Scotland from her Godfather. Seeming like a new start in life is a good idea, Fiona leaves everything behind and moves to Scotland
Fiona lives in her Godfather's cottage, attends his garden (which turns out to be magical) and opens a flower shop in the village.
In this book world-famous fiddle player Barley McFee returns to his childhood home for a homecoming concert.
Barley is found dead in his trailer during the concert's intermission, and his death is shockingly tied to Fiona's father, who happens to be visiting Scotland at the time.
While all this is going on, Fiona's garden suddenly withers. She needs to find out why, and how to fix it.

Kindle Copy for Review from NetGalley and Crooked Lane Books.
I received a free, advance copy of this book and this is my unbiased and voluntary review.
A famous fiddle player arrives for a grand homecoming concert sponsored by the locals, gets more than he bargains as he ends up dead. Fiona is busy with tasks for the event as well as the arrival of her parents and younger sister from Tennessee. Her parents are there to reveal news about Fiona’s birth.
When the fiddler is found dead in his trailer, Fiona’s dad becomes prime suspect. What connection do these two men have in common and how will it change her life? This is a fascinating story line.

I enjoy this series. The scenery, the gardens, the magic, and the budding relationship between Fiona and Neil having me coming back to this series often. You should read this series in order because you learn about some secrets in Fiona's life. Great character development and a mystery that I didn't figure out till it was revealed.

I pretty much love any book written by Amanda Flower and this is no exception. It is so well written and engaging. The characters are developing nicely and I feel like I have a good overall understanding of them.
World famous fiddle player, Barley McFee has returned to his hometown of Bellewick to put on a concert. The village is pulsing with exciting about his homecoming and the chance to listen to Barley and his amazing band. Fiona is trying to keep her head above water running her flower shop, managing her magical garden at Duncreigan and entertaining her parents who have flown to Scotland to visit (and convince Fiona's sister, Isla to move back to Tennessee). During the concert, Barley is found dead during the intermission and the last person seen exiting Barley's trailer prior to his death was Fiona's dad! Fiona is already dealing with some big feelings surrounding the news that her father is not her biological father, but instead her godfather, Ian is her bio dad,
Although Fiona has a lot of faith her her Chief Inspector boyfriend, Neil Craig, she can't let her dad be accused of something he didn't do, so despite Neil's warnings to stay out of it, delves head first in to the case. Fiona is also dealing with learning that someone cut the yellow rose in her garden, the rose that is the source of all of the magic. Without Ian around, Fiona is mostly on her own to figure out how to save the garden and prove that her father is innocent! I love the development of Neil and Fiona's relationship as well as that of Isla and Seth.
I received an Advanced Readers Copy of this book from NetGalley in return for an honest review.

Mums and Mayham is a story of magical garden and murder in a small Scottish village. A transplanted American who inherited her godfathers garden is learning how to keep it and helping her inspector boyfriend solve another murder.

Mums and Mayhem is the third book in author Amanda Flowers' Magic Garden Mystery series.
Fiona, born and raised in Tennessee, has settled in County Aberdeen, Scotland, where she inherited her godfather's cottage and garden. She has gradually made the cottage her own, made peace with the magic in her garden, and has acquired a boyfriend (whom she seems to refer to only by his last name or by his title...does she know his first name???). Life is good.
Then life gets crazy: her parents come to visit (with hopes to convince Fiona's sister, Isla, to return to Tennessee), a concert featuring a homegrown, world famous fiddler comes to town requiring lots of time from Fiona as a member of the Merchant Society, her magic garden is dying, and long-buried family secrets are coming to light. And there's a murder. And Fiona's father is connected to the victim! So naturally she has to get involved in the investigation. And maybe introduce her parents to her Chief Inspector boyfriend.
There is lots going on in the village of Bellewick. By the end of the book the murder and the Knox family secrets seem to be resolved, but there are plenty of ongoing story lines to keep readers coming back for more.
A very enjoyable story, probably best read in series order.

Another excellent edition to a wonderful series! Full of twists and turns that leaves you wanting more and enjoying each moment until the end when the killer is caught!

A secret magical garden in Scotland. Those few words alone would intrigue me and when you add the capable hands of Amanda Flower as the author, you know this series is a winner. Fiona has accepted her destiny as guardian of the garden and moved to Scotland from Nashville and even opened a flower shop. Helping organize a concert for a famous fiddler has her busy and coupled with her parents planned visit has her a bit stressed. Seems everyone has secrets. Thoroughly enjoyable with a full palette of relatable and/or interesting characters.

Fiona Knox arrives in Scotland to find she is the keeper of a secret, magical garden. As if this is not enough responsibility, her parents arrive to try to convince her sister to return to the states. In the midst of this family drama, world famous fiddler Barley McFee returns triumphantly to his home town Bellewick, Scotland, but not everyone is happy to see him. Fiona learns some frightening things about her parents, her godfather and Barley. An intriguing mystery with just the right touch of magical undertones.

I love this series. I like the setting, it sounds beautiful and the premise of a magical garden is enchanting. In this book Fiona is dealing with a major concert that is being held in the village and sponsored by the Merchants organization. On top of that her parents are coming to visit and they don't know that her sister Isla is planning to stay in Scotland nor that either of them have significant others. To top it off, the star of the concert is murdered! Fiona tries to find the killer to exonerate her Father (lots of mysteries there) as well as her village.
These books are fun and such a nice escape. They are easy to read and very entertaining. The characters are fun and add to the charm of the village and the story. I will definitely be reading more by this author.

I'm not certain what it is about Amanda Flower's A Magic Garden Mystery series, but the whimsical aspects mixed with real life issues completely engages me. The growth in characters, and the fleshing out of why they are the way they are was very satisfying. The mystery was full of twists and turns and the village of Bellewick a delight. I can't wait to see where Fiona goes next, especially with Craig.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.

Utterly thrilled to get an advanced copy of this book. I've come to really love this magical garden and Scottish town. In this book, we get to meet Fiona's parents and delve deep into the family secrets that have been hinted at the last couple of books. Nice to see Fiona not be a suspect for once and I was surprised by who the murderer turned out to be while seeing in retrospect how it could be.
Really though, the murder investigation is really just a vehicle to talk about family and legacies and that is where this book really shines. And with this basis, this is my favourite book in the series yet. Can't wait for more!

The third book in Amanda Flower's magical garden series brought the return of some local favorites, an addition of some more Americans, a lot of answers to questions we've all been wondering about, and a series of crimes that were so emotion driven it's hard not to feel for lot of people, including the killer.
I'm not sure I have ever read a cozy mystery before where I found myself where Fiona is during the epilogue. Not excusing the actions but understanding how they came to be. I love this series and I'm always excited for the next book in it, but this book definitely has pushed me to want to check out her other series.

This is the first book in the series that I have read but I will now start at the beginning. I loved the characters and the idea of a magical secret garden. Throw in family secrets and it gets even better. Fiona’s sleuthing kept my interest and I look forward to more of her adventures.
Many thanks to Crooked Lane Books and to NetGalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.

Between a visit from her busybody parents intent on guilting Fiona into returning home to take over the family farm and her responsibilities with the upcoming concert in her small town of Bellewick, Fiona has her hands full. On top of this, someone has broken into the magical garden she has inherited from her Godfather and killed all of the plants inside. Before she can begin to make a plan to bring the plants back to life, she is embroiled in another investigation. When Barley, the superstar fiddler who returned to Bellewick for the concert is found murdered in his tour bus, Fiona jumps at the chance to investigate, even though she risks disapproval from her boyfriend who also happens to be the chief inspector in charge of the case. As she starts digging for clues she soon realizes there are plenty of people in the community angry at Barley for one reason or another. It soon becomes evident that Fiona has her work cut over for her as even her own father has ties to the murder victim.
Mums and Mayhem is the third in the magical garden mystery series set in the small, picturesque Aberdeenshire community of Bellewick. The mystery was smartly plotted and moved swiftly as Fiona uncovered clues that led her in many different directions. The revelation of the true killer at the end came as a true shock, as I was unable to guess their identity beforehand. Fiona makes for a great lead; fiercely independent yet willing to seek out help when necessary. Readers were finally introduced to Fiona's parents and many secrets pertaining to Fiona's past were unveiled. The members of the Bellewick community are comically blunt, if not always kind, adding an extra layer of enjoyment to these multi-layered mysteries. I look forward to seeing what the future now holds in store for Fiona in her next adventure, which I hope is released soon. I highly recommend this series, as well as the author's other mystery series, for those looking for some light mystery reading.

Amanda Flower does it again with another amazingly well written cozy mystery. Of all the cozy authors out there, Amanda Flower is always consistent with the work she produces, and each novel is fast-paced, exciting, and full of amazing characters. "Mums and Mayhem" is the 3rd instalment in the Magic Garden Mystery Series, and is the first novel in the series that I have read. I was wary to try this book out only because it is a few books into the series. Thankfully, the author does such a great job in the opening chapters catching a new reader up to what has happened in the previous novels without giving too much away if one wants to go back and read book one and two (which I fully intend to do!)
In "Mums and Mayhem", Fiona Knox is a member of The Merchant Society, a group of business owners who are involved with making the village of Bellewick a better place. The society is all working together to host a home-coming concert for world famous Scottish fiddler Barley McFee who was born in Bellewick but left home and became famous vowing to never return. With all the hardwork of planning the concert, Fiona also has to keep up with her parents who are coming to Scotland to visit, and her sister Isla's new romance with less than stellar Seth. On top of this, as guardian of the magical garden gifted to her by her Godfather Ian after his death, Fiona has a lot of her shoulders. The last thing she needed was to find Barley McFee dead in his tour bus.
What follows is a fast paced mystery that plays on a lot of peoples past secrets and shows that no matter how long you are away from your past, it never truly leaves you.
The author is a genius at creating landscape and scenery in her writing. Whether she is discussing a small town in New York State, an Amish settlement in Ohio, or a small Scottish village, she takes great effort in creating this space that the reader can visualize very clearly. Her characterization is unique, and each minor character she introduces is woven seamlessly into the story, and everyone has a purpose.
I highly recommend all of Amanda Flower's books, and the Magic Garden Mystery series should be on every cozy mystery fans TBR list.
