OH. MY. GOD. This book has been one of my biggest anticipated releases of the year. I absolutely love SJM, and I cannot wait to have the physical copy in my hands. But let me just say that this excerpt just hyped me up more. My love for SJM cannot get any bigger.

Sarah J Maas has done it again. How did she manage to get me attached to all of these characters and then rip my heart out of my chest in just 5 chapters! I went into this with ZERO background on what this book was going to be, and oh man- I am sold and cannot wait to continue!

Sarah J. Maas proves once again that she knows what to do with a story, and that she is the queen of detail and backstory and world building. This excerpt was just the nugget I needed to hook me into the story and be ready to read it on release date.

I’d like to thank Netgalley for providing me with the first 5 chapters to read.
I can’t wait to get my hands on the rest of the book to finish this story. It left off with a terrible cliffhanger and I WANT MORE. Great beginning SJM.

Extremely fun start to a story that’s bound to be a good ride. Characters are likable. The world is likable and I’ll be sure to read the full book immediately

Although I have read only the excerpts provided by NetGalley till now, I find this book very interesting. I just found out what the fuss on social media was all about. But I am so cranky right now because when this excerpt ended, I just wanted to read more! So, I ordered it as soon as possible, but I am damn sure that I wouldn't get my hands over the book in less than 3 days. In short, IT'S LIKE HANGING FROM A CLIFF RIGHT NOW!!!

I have to admit, I wasn't expecting to enjoy this. I'm really not a huge urban fantasy fan, and usually not too into fae and demons and the like either. However, I had enjoyed Maas's other two prominant series, so I thought I would give the excerpt a try. I'm so glad I did! It was engaging and exciting and fast paced in a way that is uniquely Maas and I can't wait to get the finished copy today!

This is an exciting start to a very much anticipated book! I love Sarah J Maas' writing style and her characters, and I am so happy to be getting a new world by this amazing author. This is a little bit of an info dumb, but the first few chapters of a new fantasy book.

A fantastic beginning to an epic fantasy world. I can not wait to read the rest. The first few chapters was just a glimpse of what was ahead but I did not want to stop reading. I immediately went out to buy the book.

Imaginative and page turning from the get go. I love the blend of urban fantasy and characterization. Another fine novel by Maas!

It’s such a shame that I only discovered Sarah J Maas this year! I’ve been missing out on her beautiful writing and whimsical worlds for years.
This was just an excerpt but it gave me just enough to keep me wanting more yet knowing that I will inhale this series just as I’ve inhaled A Court of Thorns and Roses

Heartbreaking is the first word that comes to mind after reading only the first five chapters of House of Earth and Blood by Sarah J. Maas. Thank you to Net Galley and Bloomsbury Publishing for providing this excerpt in exchange for my honest review.
In just five chapters the world-building was addicting, I really want to see more. The characters drew me in and I really can't wait to read the full book. I highly recommend giving this one a go, however, I only read 5 chapters so I can't talk about the rest of the book. Hopefully, I can come back soon and finish this review.

Bryce is half-Fae. She lives with a couple of friends in Crescent City. Bryce is having a tough time in the dating world. When a close friend persists in asking her out, she finally gives in. Bryce returns home only to find him, her bestie and several others slaughtered. And it looks like whoever/whatever killed them is now after her.
Although I have only read the first three ACOTAR novels by Sarah J. Maas, I think it's safe to say this new series is certainly more adult. I didn't follow completely since there was just so much packed into these first few chapters; it was hard keeping up with all of the different houses, species, etc... Still, I enjoyed the story somewhat and as it went on, things improved. I can honestly say I'm curious as to what happens next. Based on this short excerpt, I give HOUSE OF EARTH AND BLOOD 3.5 stars.

I'm finished with the sample chapters courtesy of Netgalley.
Having only read the sample chapters provided by Netgalley, I can only provide an initial judgement on the book, which is 3 stars out of 5, and better than I expected, since I really didn't like my foray into "Throne of Glass" and has major issues with ACOTAR.
I love urban fantasy, so I felt immediatelly drawn to the premise of "House of Earth and Blood," and for the most part I find the story it's telling unique enough that I am intrested to find out what happens next. The two stars that I detracted from the rating are the for the personality of the main character and for the Maas-like oversexualization of *everything*. These two are closely related, of course, to the point that the main character - who, I assume, I supposed to GROW over the course of this story, so we are starting at a low point - is grossly unlikable and unrelatable. Off-puttingly unlikable. Which is not a good place to start. But there are facets of the plot that have been hinted at that I am intrigued by, so I will pick this up at a library and see how it goes.

I read the sample of this from Netgalley, and I really enjoyed it. If the entire book is anything like the sample, it will be a favorite for sure!
I can't wait to read the entire book!

I am so happy to have read this excerpt! This is yet another SJM that I will devour.
This is much more of an adult series than her other books. It’s fun and gritty and full of so many different kinds of characters/creatures.
I will absolutely be getting this book and the following books.

This review is for the Netgalley Excerpt of the book, so I cannot speak to the whole book. However, if the entire thing lives up to the excerpt, this is amazing! The first few pages were a bit slow as you get acclimated to the world and the characters but once it gets going, I couldn't stop reading it and I was sad when my excerpt ended. This is definitely an adult book (not because of racy content, as there was none in the excerpt so far) but as far as themes and overall world-building, this is a bit heftier than SJM's other works. It reads a lot like paranormal romance, so if that is something you enjoy, I highly recommend this book. I can't wait for the whole thing!

In just an excerpt Maas has managed to once again do what she does best. I am hooked! I can already tell we have an amazing cast of characters, that I cant wait to learn more about. There are so many different supernaturals/species being talk about. We already have a couple clear issues that will need to be resolved throughout the book.
There already seems to be a huge change from her YA to her first adult book. The content and humour is definitely more geared to adults. Which I’am loving!
Although these main characters are fae and werewolves you can tell they live in a modern human world which is making it way more easy to relate to.
I cant wait to see where this book goes, I already can tell it will be great!

Bryce is a half-Fae female living in Crescent City on the planet Midgard. The world is full of fantastic creatures and beings who live alongside humans and ordinary animals. Bryce works for an antiquities dealer who sells to high class society members. She finds herself in the middle of a truly horrific nightmare (friend’s death involved) that will change her life forever.
This new world that Sarah J. Maas has made is different from her previous works of art, but full of the vibrant energy and detail that her readers have come to love and enjoy!

I absolutely loved reading this excerpt and as a huge SJM fan, I can't wait to have this book in my hands. I already love Bryce so much and can't wait to meet all the other characters. Not to mention Maas has done it again with exceptional world building. Thank you NetGalley for an excerpt!
