Why does Sarah just know what I want and how to take it all from me!! I really didn't want this to be good because a 800+ page book is gonna take some time but then she went and did this! I read the excerpt and it just I need more! How are they gonna end it on that!?! I needed to Connor!

I’m shook and need this book in my hand right now. How can you just leave us like this?! Like damn guys come on!! *cries*

I read the 1st five chapters and I loved them!! Can't wait to read the rest of the book!! Received this book from Bloomsbury publishing from netgally!!

This is the perfect teaser for the upcoming release! I love where the story is going so far, but I have a few minor issues. Not only is it a lot of information at one, the names are pretty confusing. These are two small things that I’ll have to get used to as the plot develops. I also LOVE the main characters! I look forward to where the story is going.

I’m SURE this will be too mature for a high school library purchase, but I am excited for it! It look me a little while to get into the excerpt & I almost quit reading, but the end of the excerpt hooked me in typical SJM fashion!

This excerpt certainly made me want to read on. I am a huge fan of Maas' other work specifically ACOTR and have been eagerly awaiting her foray into adult fantasy. After what I've read so far I have very high expectations for this book!

I thought I was already excited about this book, but reading this excerpt made the wait for it's release seem even longer! I've made character attachments, formed ships between characters, laughed and cried with the characters all within the first chapter. I cannot wait to see what wild ride this book takes me on!

Omg. I'm so grateful that NetGalley had the first five chapters available for a sneak peek. When they downloaded, I rationed those chapters. Like a person seeking water, I slowly sipped these chapters down. One at a time.
I will give zero spoilers, what I will say is this. I am so excited for this beautiful big giant book. So. Excited. SJ Maas NEVER disappoints and with the end of those five chapters I wanted to cry, I wanted to scream, I wanted to KEEP READING.
Bryce is awesome, and I can not wait to read her journey, to discover her secrets, her ticks, her whys. I can't wait y'all. The world building is huge, massive, wonderful SJM, her twists and turns are so her and I honestly believe this is going to be a killer book.
That's it, that's all I've got until Tuesday or Wednesday when I review the book in it's entirety. If you haven't purchased the book yet though, don't wait, go buy it. It's going to be amazing.
Thank you so much NetGalley and Bloomsbury Publishing for the glimpse I was able to consume. xo

Oh man! This excerpt gets you right into the good stuff, just enough to wet your lips, and then it ends. I need more! I'm waiting patiently for my full copy.

I absolutely loved this excerpt and I can't wait to read the full book. Sarah Maas' writing is excellent as always, consistent with her other works. The begining pulls you right in to the world and the characters lives. The cover is also very eye catching with the red tones.

This one is a little different from the other books I’ve read by this author but I’m definitely looking forward to reading the full book as The Court of Thorns and Roses series is still one of my absolute favorites and I always recommend it to fellow readers. Can’t wait to see what Maas will do with Hunt and Bryce!! Giving it 5 stars based on the excerpt.

I was given an excerpt of the first 5 Chapters of this book for review. Sarah J Maas is well known for her YA series Throne of Glass and Court of Thorn and Roses. This is her first foray into the adult fantasy world. First of all I must say the artwork for this book is absolutely stunning and would make an excellent display piece for your bookshelves. To me, this book still read like a YA but with cussing and it didn’t really capture my interest enough to want to buy the book. I would classify this book as an urban fantasy and it seemed to include many different types of people/characters like humans, fae, wolves, etc. All those components would probably make for an interesting read the further you got into the story but I didn’t really like the YA relationship feel to the book. It may be a great read and I’m hearing wonderful reviews so far but it’s just not for me.

I already had the book saved to my wishlist because I loved the author for her Court of Thrones and Roses series. I mean, come on, how many times does it take a person read to that series and not fall in love again and again!?! Well I haven't gotten there yet and I've read the series at least 6 times (I know). Needless to say, I have been soooo excited about this "adult" book. Curse Amazon for whetting my appetite almost a year in advance for it. When I was able to get my hands on an excerpt from my good friends at NetGalley, let's just say I invoked a mental Smegal and found myself saying "My precious".
You are thinking this chick is crazy, but hear me out. I read A LOT of book (over 500/yr) and when I get a good one, I get the anticipatory tingles all over. I knew that was going to be the case with this one. So ready for my review. . .
I will update once I get the rest of the book, which is on pre-order. For now I was able to read the first chapter and man it's a doozy. The author, in just the first chapter, manages to create this elaborate world full of magic and some mystery. Creatures of all races inter-mix and co-mingle in their day-to-day lives. It's a fine balance between peace and all-out mayhem. It's some amazing world-building, subtly done in such a way in the background of the storytelling that natural, instead of a required bit needed in order to understand the story.
Now for the characters. When I initial meet the characters, I usually feel like I'm either playing catch-up on what is going on or allowing getting to know a stranger and easing into a situation. It doesn't feel like it with these characters. Right away, they feel like friends I've know for awhile and we are catching up again. There is no awkwardness with the reader trying to understand what is going on in the characters lives and then trying to piece it all together. The author let the story flow in such a way that the reader can feel secure not knowing a piece of the "puzzle" yet, because the reader knows by how the plot and the story is flowing that the "all in good time" development of the plot and characters holds true. You don't get that with all authors and it can be enough to drive you batty, because you don't know if the author just forgot or what.
This story is really action-packed, with plenty going on in just the first chapter. There is already heart break and loss that I can wait to see what happens in the next chapter.

It's no surprise at all that even an excerpt from SJM is a winner in my book!
We all know Sarah is the Queen of fantasy and this book seems it will be no different.
Her writing style, world building and dynamic characters are spot on as usual.
At this point, my only complaint, and it not even really a complaint, is that I will have to get used to new names. They are unique and I appreciate that, just need to get the pronunciation rythem down on a couple.
Can not wait to read the rest of this book!

What can I say? I'm even more anxious to get my hands on this book than I was before! Three more days!

Sarah J. Maas does it again with another page-turner. It is easy to delve into the worlds she builds with the characters that take us there. The interpersonal relationships being to take center stage here and it is a whole lot of fun to go along for the ride.
I cannot wait to read the rest.

I love Sarah J Maas. I am so excited for House of Earth and Blook, her debut Adult novel! This excerpt is an excellent taste as to what is to come!

This excerpt has me eagerly awaiting the whole book to come out! Can't wait for another world from Maas. The world-building is already very detailed just from the very beginning of the book. Looking forward to knowing these characters more.

Sarah J Maas is known for her YA fantasy. House of Earth and Blood is her first Adult Fantasy series.
Within the first 70 pages, we are introduced to grand-sweeping world building with nuanced political undertones. The characterization was side-stepped to immerse you into the world of Crescent City. I thought I didn't like the characters until tension arose amongst certain ones that made me realize they sunk their teeth into my heart.
By the end of this excerpt, I was stunned by the well-paced suspense that elevated this book into a must read. The introduction of angels vs demons murder mystery is sure to reel in readers. While there are hints of a juvenile writing style, the suspense wins readers over. Very excited to read this. 4/5

As a thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for providing me with an exclusive excerpt from Sarah J. Mass’s House of Earth and Blood: Crescent City I shall provide an honest review. Okay, so this excerpt was five chapters long granted the book itself is 816 pages. In five days I completed this. The novel itself features what you would expect of a Sarah J Mass novel, and for that, I am okay with it. The circumstances lent itself to be taken lightly and as the book went forward in the plot did my interest grow. For as I was closer to the end did I wish I had more to read. I enjoyed what I read and look forward to reading the book in full. I give this excerpt four out of five stars on GoodReads.
