Read this excerpt last night after downloading and I loved it! It was only the first 5-6 chapters but I definitely want to know more as it builds up some characters and then drastically reduces the number that we get to follow further into this massive tome. I really hope that I can find a copy near the release to read and that it doesn't take too long.

So so excited. I love everything she comes out with and I’m sure this will not be an exception. I have already preordered and am counting down the days until March 3rd

I had my doubts about Sarah J. Maas' upcoming adult fantasy novel. I absolutely adored her previous series' and there is always a little trepidation when an author branches out into something different. Fortunately, excerpts like this become available and toss all those doubts away.
Initially, when I started this I was worried. There is a lot going on and a lot of different types of characters, creatures and communities to wrap your head around so I was a bit overwhelmed from the beginning. Luckily, though, it was easy to get into and I'm already begging for more!
I can't wait for release day so I can get my hands on a copy and see where Maas takes this story!

I absolutely loved this excerpt! I have since preordered two editions of the book! I love Bryce as a character and the world is so incredibly interesting. I’m honestly so excited to read more when it comes out next week! Just really wish I had the full book already! So fun and the writing was amazing!
Love this so far!

Why did I torture myself with a preview instead of just waiting for the entire book to be released??
Thank goodness it’s coming soon, because I am dying to devour the rest. This teaser did its job, because I am like, “But wait! I’m confused! have questions! I need more info!”
I’m glad they’ll be answered in just a few short weeks.

When I got this book I was super excited. However, then I realized that it is an excerpt and not a full book. All in all it is a good start and I can not wait for the real book to come out.

Okay I was kind of reluctant to start this excerpt given that its just only an 8th of the book but I decided to start it since its so close to release and at first I felt unlike her usual writing that this piece was all over the place, there was already to much going on all at once and I needed Bryce to be an independent character her pairing with Danika confused me, more so because I found myself more interested in Danikas story then the actual main character but towards the end of the excerpt I gained understanding about why this work in particular started the way it did and now having finished the excerpt I am eager too finish the book in its entirety all together. I cant wait to read the character development and see if this ends were I only assume. So far so good.

Every so often, I hop over to NetGalley to see if there is a book there than I must have. When I saw House of Blood and Earth, Crescent City #1, I immediately clicked and was approved for this exclusive extract. I was disappointed, because I clicked so quickly, I didn’t realize it wasn’t for the completed novel. 🙁 I have my fingers crosses that I’ll get a copy, because the ending was to die for.
It took me a while to get involved, as Sarah J Maas introduced the characters and the world they live in. The more I read, and the more I got to know the characters, the more deeply involved I became…BUT, be careful who you become attached to, because the ending blew me away and took me in a direction I didn’t see coming, which Sarah did in a bloody and twisted way. I applaud her.
I think we have every supernatural entity that you can imagine, and maybe some you can’t, along with humans. They walk side by side…
I flip back and forth between 3 and 4 stars…because of that ending. One way or another, I will get me a copy. I have to know!!!!!!!

Sooooooo good! I want more. I felt as though the book was being ripped from me when it ended. I need to know what happened!

I'm so excited for Sarah J Maas' first adult book and I can't wait to read the whole thing! This little teaser was definitely not long enough!

So...I thought this was a YA book, and boy was I wrong! Or was I?
My daughter is obsessed with Sarah J Mass, so I figured I would get this excerpt and then get her the book. Oops! Lol
Even though it’s not something appropriate for her, I ENJOYED IT, so I cannot wait to read the full novel!
This made me want to raid my daughters bookshelf to read her other books to hold me over!

It has to be some sort of cruel and unusual punishment that we're able to start Sarah J. Maas' new book/series but we only get an excerpt! WHAT?! I want more! I want to keep going. How can you do this to us?
Can't wait to read the rest of the book. I'm already hooked.

I jumped at the chance to read something new from Sarah Maas! This excerpt reminded me how great she is at writing strong female characters and making them interesting. The relationships in this book helped drive the beginning of this story while I was wondering- OK, what is going to happen to these ladies? My only critique was that the backstory was a bit clunky due to the dry language and a lot of acronyms which in world building seems pointless. However, the character development was interesting enough to keep me going and then I was reminded that action is another reason why I enjoy Maas. Overall, I loved where the story was going and was like "Oh, Crap".right before the excerpt ended. Will definitely read this book!

This was my first look at a Sarah J. Maas book and I have to say that I was not disappointed. I don’t usually do fantasy style books, but this one sucked me in from the start. I need to know what happens next. And I really liked all of the characters: Danika, Bryce, Connor, Fury. There were a lot of characters so that was a little bit confusing, but this had a nice foundation to run with.

OH MY WORD.
I’ve been looking forward to Crescent City for so long, but after reading this excerpt, I’m going to pre-order it ASAP.
This is a definitely a departure from ToG and ACOTAR in terms of maturity, and so far I’m loving the characters. I very quickly grew attached to them which made chapter five even more devastating. I’m so excited to see where this story is going and how Bryce’s character is going to develop.

Loved it so far! I'm hoping that since there is a diverse background of characters, one being half-fae and half-human, and another being a fallen angel , that we also get some diversity in sexuality and races as well throughout the book but I guess time will tell for that one. Cannot wait until I have my hands on the full copy!

Overall the excerpt was a great preview to Sarah’s new world and characters. The ending of the 4th chapter really makes me excited for the whole book to come out!

This was such a good excerpt. I cannot wait to read the rest of the book and find out what happens to Bryce and I’m ready to meet hunt!

With House of Earth and Blood, Sarah J. Maas seems to have taken a different route than her previous book, a much welcome change.
Crescent City is not a court nor a glass castle. It's a city, filled with shifters, faes, angels, humans and more. The worldbuilding was already brilliantly done in these five chapters, just like the characters. I cannot wait to get to know Bryce more. After reading the ending of the fifth chapter, I'm curious to see how she will cope with that loss.
Overall, these few chapters have piqued my interest. I can't wait to get the full book in my hands!

Sincere thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the 5 chapter sampler. Chapter samples are such teases! March 3 is only a week away and I must content myself with that.
While already bogged down with typical Maas world-building lingo and repetitive phrasing, the opening chapters of Crescent City are extremely promising and I’m excited about this new world we get to explore! My heartstrings are already pulled in a way only Maas can do.
