I'm coming back to review this after reading the full novel, and this is one of my new favorite books. I relate to Bryce so much with how lonely she was but didn't let that stop her from being kind to Hunt after he did a mission for Micah. I loved Hunts character development as well and just the world. it reminded me of New Orleans but with different species. i can't wait for the sequel.

*received for free from netgalley for honest review* Can't wait to read this whole book! :O i shouldnt have even read this until i knew i could get the full book soon after, talk about cliff hanger

It was very different for me to read this contemporary fantasy from SJM. I am a die hard fan of SJM so this was very different than her last work.
I found myself more confused than intrigued with this exerpt. Since I received this, the book has come out and I have fully read the book. I don't particularly like it that much, although I will admit it gripped me and kept my attention

A wonderful start to a brand new SJM series! I've since read the entire book, but the sampler was great!

The start of this book was slow, but boy did it make it worth it in the end. Sarah J. Maas does it again and give you the spicy romance you had been aching for. Or at least I have been. I love the depth of the world this book is set in, but I struggled with all the side characters. I think I am a little weary of all of Maas' side characters because she always ends up writing spin-offs. I just wonder if each character is going to add depth to the story or if they're just sticking around for their own story at a later date. Overall, though, I enjoyed this excerpt and the book.

Crescent City was an amazing 2020 release. I am obsessed with Bryce and Hunt. My readers at the library and in book club are obsessed as well.

this was a great snippet and can't wait to read the book. Sarah is one of the most prolific writers's in the Young Adult genre these days.

House of Earth and Blood is the new book by Sarah J. Maas, an author that I love since I read Throne of Glass. I love her books and this story had to be read yes or yes. It is an adult urban fantasy, we find a completely invented world and some powerful characters who live as they do today more or less. I have loved this contemporary fantasy.
The book is long, it has almost 800 pages, and it is true that there are plenty of scenes, but I have really enjoyed it. The beginning is introductory, but then it picks up pace and I was unable to stop reading. The story has fascinated me and has been unpredictable. It has a bit of a police plot and that has given the novel a lot of action. Also, the characters have enchanted me.
Overall, House of Land and Blood has been a book that I have thoroughly enjoyed. I have returned the desire to fill myself with fantasy and this book has been perfect, despite the length of the manuscript. It is an interesting read, well worth reading. It has a lot of adventure and action. The ending is quite closed, but the author has left an open door and I think it is the beginning of a trilogy (in Goodreads there are three parts).

I have always been a fan of Sarah J. Maas's books but the excerpt nor the book caught my interest. The characters that were introduced were copies of her books--both in looks and personality.

This was a wonderful start to the world and this new book by SJM. There's a lot of new information and characters to take in, but this sets up the rest of the book wonderfully! As always, SJM really shines with her characters and the friendships and relationships she writes, and I love character-driven stories! Very excited to see where this story goes from here!

I love Sarah J Maas and was thrilled to read this excerpt! As always, I was pulled right into the story and couldn't wait for more.

This is everything!! I can’t wait to pick up the actually full book. Sarah is one of my favorite authors and this excerpt did not disappoint.

I loved this book and I love Maas's writing. The characters are great and the plot grabs you hard and keeps you reading.

The sample was interesting and made me excited about the book but once I finished the whole book, I was quite disappointed. Prefer Sarah J. Maas' YA books much better than House of Earth and Blood.

A fantastic read for those who want to continue to dive into the world of Sarah J Maas.
I truly enjoyed the exploration and power of love and friendship in this novel.

Thank you NetGalley for letting me review this. This was really something.Loved it so much that I was at The edge of my seat from the very start. Could not put it down for just a moment.Found myself finishing it in a flash. The world building was magical. The characters were awesome.Loved getting to know about the characters and their relationships. Will definitely read book two.

If you love Sarah J. Maas, this will be right up your alley, I really enjoyed reading this sneak peak. The world of Crescent City being developed in House of Earth and Blood is very interesting and original. I really enjoyed the female friendships in the novel, especially the strong bond between Bryce and Danika. I look forward to seeing where Maas takes us with this new urban fantasy.

I am so looking forward to reading the rest of this book! Sarah J. Maas is one of my favorite authors ever, and I am looking forward to reading her first foray into adult fantasy. Bryce seems like an interesting, complex and sassy character to follow, and I'm sure Hunt will be swoon worthy.

The world building in the first 5 chapters is insane, not to mention what happens at the end of chapter 5! I'm not sure want made me wait so long to read the excerpt but now that I have I need more. My heart hurts because I was just getting used to seeing Danika and Connor as characters within the rest of the book. The action and the setup for the novel is tremendous and gorgeously written! The only down side I have with the few chapters I did read is the lack of explanation when introducing some of the houses and characters. I know that they may or may not be explained later but, for right now, I think it would bee good to have some breakdown so that way readers can follow exactly what's happening and why. I found myself skipping over some of the pages only because I couldn't follow some of the conversations. Thankfully, I did buy the book and will dive into it next month for my November Reads. Can't wait to see what happens with Bryce and the creature that has launched itself at her. I would recommend this novel for its dynamic and captivating flare! 5 out of 5 stars!

I wanted to check out this excerpt to see if I would like reading the series. Thank you for allowing a small taste of the book.
