I did not want to review this until I actually made something out of it. First thoughts of looking through this was I was excited to try the recipes. Mikolich made the recipes seem easy she explained things. Just looking through this I would give it four stars. The recipe I made was Strawberry Cheesecake Ice Cream Cupcakes (with my own twist). Due to making this during quarantine for a couple peoples birthday and had to be delivery my twist is not that big. I cut the cupcakes in half and layered cupcake, ice cream, cupcake in a small jar. Easy delivery. This was a good recipe. My ice cream fiend of Step-father asked for more of the ice cream, my cousin who does not like sweets said he requests this for his birthday next year, and friend requested the recipe because her husband loved it. Pretty good results. Im excited to try more recipes. 5 stars for good recipe and easy follow.

Thank you to NetGalley and Callisto Media for the ARC. This was an honest review.

Cake and ice cream have been a match made in heaven for centuries, and almost everybody loves the combination. Thanks to blogger, Kelly Mikolich, in her excellent cookbook, The Ultimate Ice Cream Cake Book: 50 Fun Recipes to Satisfy Any Sweet Tooth, everyone can make and enjoy cake and ice cream treats at home.

The first chapter, Ice Cream Cake 101, covers ice cream makers, different bases for different types of ice cream, as well as cakes that are ideal for filling with ice cream and freezing. Equipment is also discussed, and by reading this chapter, cooks will be ready to create perfect treats at home, whether for birthday parties, anniversaries, dinner parties, etc.

This cookbook contains dozens of unique flavors of cake and ice cream. The recipes are easy to follow, although most of the cakes involve several steps and some cakes require a long list of ingredients. This is not a book filled with quick and easy delights; rather the recipes are labors of love and are well-worth the time taken to create the dishes. The cakes and ice creams are all made from scratch, which makes them even more special. Some are very time consuming, but others not so much.

There are a few photographs to show how beautiful cake and ice cream can be, but a cookbook like this should have a photograph of each recipe. It’s nice for cooks, from beginning to expert, to know just how the finished product will look, especially when putting a lot of time and effort into these desserts.

Nevertheless, this is a great book to have on the bookshelf, especially during the summer months when something cool is perfect for backyard celebrations, as well as parties and get-togethers. Mikolich’s ideas are excellent and some even innovative.

Special thanks to NetGalley for supplying a review copy of this book.

Easy to follow recipes! The hardest part of this cookbook is decided which recipe to try first. I look forward to a summer filled with ice cream cakes and a shake or two.

Almost no pictures (which is sort of a serious bummer). There are no nutritional breakdowns (which in this kind of cookbook is a plus). Each recipe is broken down so it’s easy enough to follow...and there’s a great chapter on the different kinds of ice cream based, etc...because, yup, even the ice creams in this are from scratch.
Every recipe sounds super tasty.

I have to say first that this is the first cookbook I have seen for Ice Cream. From Fruity Flakes Ice Cream Cake to Maple Bacon Donut Ice Cream Cake with 48 other recipes, this cookbook would be fun for the person who loves to party or just make a fun cake! The beginning of the book tells you about what tools and equipment to use. More on cake baking and ice cream making is a must for these recipes. This book has it all, from easy to more difficult recipes

Just looking through the recipes makes my mouth water.
Chapter One: Ice Cream Cake
Chapter Two: Chocolate
Chapter Three: Fruity
Chapter Four: Cheesecake
Chapter Five: Boozy
Chapter Six: Artisanal
The cookbook winds up with a section on Toppings and Decorations.

So that said, I think this cookbook will be perfect for any kitchen or cook.

I received a copy of this cookbook for review purposes.

This was a lot of fun! I am actually on a diet, but this was still fun to think about for other people. I actually made one of the cakes for a work function and my team loved it.
