Great domestic thriller again from this author. The story kept me in the edge of my seat and flying thorough the pages. Another winner!!

I feel like I’ve read this book before. A crime occurs upfront, followed by flashbacks in time. Shifting POVs from the potential culprits, all women, who are all withholding something. Themes of suspected infidelity, marital estrangement, work v. home demands, sexual abuse. Women blaming one another for men’s misdeeds. Wealthy, strapping man with a menacing edge, who plays more of a role in the women’s lives than it first appears. Posh setting on the water.

If this doesn’t sound familiar – or even if it does, and you’d like to experience it again, in a different setting – you will probably enjoy this slow-burn domestic drama. It’s a well-constructed example of the formula, set off by a deadly arson at a fancy advertising agency.

Y’all I just knew I was going to love this book and I was right!! But seriously the characters, the writing... everything was so great. I couldn’t put it down!

This was a quick read and at first, I was propelled along by the story and the wonderfully suspenseful crafting of each chapter leading to the next. The author certainly knows how to lead a reader along with intriguing clues about her characters, what is happening in their lives and about all the events that led up to a big fire which opens the novel.

The story is structured as chapters written alternately about one of three main characters that are labeled X weeks before the fire, leading up to the event itself. Interspersed with the chapters are transcripts of police interviews with multiple players, including the main characters. It's a good technique and added to the suspense.

After barreling along, hardly able to put down my Kindle, somewhere around the middle, I began to lose interest because there seemed to be so much repetition about a couple of the characters - their problems and issues and repeated clues about as-yet-undisclosed events that had happened in the past. I got tired of so much re-hashing.

The ending felt a bit rushed in a 'let's tie this all up now' way. I wasn't sold on the 'secrets' that were revealed or the wrap-up of the crime, nor on the aspects 'revealed' about the players in the story. If I could, I would give this book 2 1/2 stars but it was certainly not a 3-star read for me.

Book was full of twists and turns with the added benefit of three independent women bonding and getting revenge. A fun read

Laura had hired a temp to cover her maternity leave. Someone who was not ambitious. Someone who would not threaten her position in the company. Mia fit the bill properly. She was looking for an easy job. And she planned to relocate after the job was done. So Laura is extremely surprised when she returns and Mia is sitting at her desk and has taken over her best client. Their boss doesn't see a problem in fact he has hired Mia full time. In the same position as Laura.
Janie is the boss's wife. She is cool, collected. Beautiful, and was a barrister before. Now she stays home and takes care of their two daughters.
Each of these three women have invested into this company in more than one way. Now it's time for the company to pay back its debt.
A great story about office politics, women relationships, husband wife relationships, sister relationship and mother daughter relationships. Extraordinary!

The stage is set perfectly with the prologue as a mystery woman watches a huge skyscraper burn. All we know is she is in disbelief, shaking, her hands smell of gasoline and she is worried about the two people who are most important to her in the entire world. As the story takes us through the eight weeks prior to the fatal fire, we meet Laura, returning from a six month maternity leave, trying to wedge her way back into the high-pace world of advertising, Mia, the woman with an agenda who replaced Laura during her maternity leave and Janie, former star defense attorney, and the wife of the advertising company's CEO. At first each woman seems to have little in common, but as their pasts and current unhappiness is revealed, it becomes obvious how much they do in fact have in common.

I read this book a lot quicker than I expected to. The story line was engaging from the beginning, and the interspersed police interviews with witnesses and suspects added to the suspense. I also liked this book because it touched on juggling a new baby and work, inappropriate behavior in the workplace (both real and falsely accusing other workers), and the corruption of the judicial system. It wasn't the most shocking or suspenseful book I have ever read, but definitely worth picking up if you are in the mood for this type of story.

I had a strong feeling that this novel would be “lit”, and I’m thrilled to see I was right! (Terrible dad joke...my dog/son would roll his eyes if he understood!)

After a well known ad agency goes up in flames, an arson investigation has been opened. The culprit never intended for anyone to still be in the building.

The story is told from three points of view. Laura, who has just returned from maternity leave, is excited to get back to her successful career at the agency. Mia took a temp role to cover Laura’s maternity leave. Much to Laura’s chagrin, Mia isn’t going anywhere. She’s been made a permanent member of the team...and has her own reasons for her career drive. Janie is the wife of the CEO of the ad agency. She doesn’t feel love for her husband anymore, but doesn’t know how to let him in on her feelings. She also left a successful barrister career behind to raise their children.

All of their stories leading up to the fire will intertwine as we also read the investigative interviews in the aftermath of the fire.

I have to say I was hooked on this book, and found it unputdownable. I had no idea how the POVs would all come together, and definitely never figured out who the arsonist was (rest assured, it’s not just a random character who pops up out of nowhere). It’s brilliantly plotted with chapters that all but force you to keep moving onto the next one.

Enjoyable read with good pace and excellent character development, but a very unsatisfying conclusion/resolution in which the plot contains a major fatal flaw in the denouement! For those who finish the book, you will realize it immediately. I did not want to provide a SPOILER ALERT for an otherwise entertaining read.

Three Perfect Liars was good, not great for me. I enjoyed that there were multiple narrators, and how the stories ended up tying together, it just felt like it took a little too long to get to the point. I did appreciate the amount of sheer rage you could feel radiating out of the book. Thanks to NetGalley and Gallery Books for the chance to review this digital ARC!

Three women with a secret and grudge against another women. All connected by a single fact in this complicated web of tale by Heidi Perks.

Laura, Mia and Janie are three unique women who cannot be more different. They're professionals, highly qualified and dedicated in what they do. They're family oriented and would do anything to protect their loved ones. Though under the circumstances they stand on opposite sides and the office rivalry is quite a drama to enjoy!

This is quite a chunky book with more than 500 pages but the narrative is given so interesting that it doesn't feel like a big book. There are transcripts from the police investigation that shuffle between the chapters and the timeline dates back to the days/hours leading to the 'incident' and the reader cannot wait to know what happened. It is the meticulously plotted storyline and the gradually building suspense that keeps the reader glued to the book!

All together, a well written suspense thriller to binge read. I read it for days together now and do not regret the time spent. Thanks to Gallery books for the digital ARC. All opinions mine.

I was really excited to win a copy of this book. I've heard quite a bit about it so far, and enjoyed the author's previous book, Her One Mistake, when I won an ARC copy of it last year. The reviews are all mostly glowing, and I was ready for a great book.

But it didn't work for me. From page 1, I was still curious and excited - I stayed up past my bedtime to see what happened next! Then - things stopped happening. Jumping around from different POV's and time frames got to be confusing, and I couldn't' easily flip back to see the last section, as I was reading on an ebook, so soon found myself having to take notes about which POV and time line I was in. This didn't sweep me up and keep me turning the pages, it made me want to put it down and not finish it. But I don't like to do that when I've won an ARC, so I kept reading. And overall, it was ok, but wasn't all I'd hoped.

At the beginning, this would have been a 3 or 4 star book for me, but by the end, I feel more like 2.5, rounding down to 2 stars. IT was just a huge disappointment for me. I will look for the author's next book, but I think it will need to be in print vs ebook, in case flipping back a few pages helps out.

Does it still count as a thriller if the first page tells you what happens in the end? For me, no. There was nothing thrilling or even suspenseful in this story. It was a decent mystery in a Little Fires Everywhere sort of way.

I started reading this in April and set it down out of boredom....then finally picked it back up again in June. It held my interest better the second time. The story is told from 3 different perspectives -- but each character was a very strong, driven woman. It felt like the plot ricocheted off of the characters' mistrust of everyone around them (including spouses). Rather than making me like the characters, it drove me to frustration.

On a scene-by-scene level, this book is very well written. The characters are complex, the details feel right, and the setting is authentic. That's all on the plus side.

On the minus side, for me, is the constant feeling of being manipulated by the author. Of COURSE the author is always the person determining how much the reader learns and when. But I enjoy the feeling of discovering who committed the crime, and why, along with the main character of a book. I like it when it feels like it happens naturally, and I'm not keenly aware of the author pulling all the marionette strings out of sight. In this book, though I wanted to know who did what and why, I felt kind of like being teased by the author constantly. Like that friend who says, "Guess what I did today?" "No." "Nope." "No, try again." At some point you say, "Just tell me, already." That's kind of what this book felt like. A too long-drawn-out tease with the author dispensing small clues here and there, but mostly making you sit through her long explanation.

Again, the writing was good! I think this is just mostly a style thing, and it's not my personal cup of tea.

Also, the ending felt a little...unsatisfying to me.

Three Perfect Liars is a thriller about three women intent on getting revenge.

Janie, Lauren, and Mia are all tied together through a fancy advertising firm. All have struggles and secret agendas. But who will win in the end?

POV’s switch between the three women (i.e. the “three perfect liars”:

Lauren, returning to work after maternity leave, is struggling to find her place now that her role has been usurped by the woman who was supposed to be her temporary replacement. Jealous, obsessive, and at the same time grappling with leaving her newborn, she is about to implode.

Mia, Lauren’s replacement, has been keeping some big secrets. Is she at the firm for the right reasons or is she there to steal another woman’s job?

Janie, married to Harry who is head of the firm, was a former prosecutor and is now trying to embrace being a stay at home mother. Angry at her husband for past misdeeds and convinced he is having an affair with Lauren, she is ready to end her marriage, but at what cost?

These three women are supposed to be “three perfect liars,” but they suck at lying, and it’s easy to read between the lines and figure out their agendas.

The story begins with the fancy advertising firm being set on fire. The narrative goes back to eight weeks before the fire, and the events slowly unfold. Honestly, while this is a very readable and a page-turner, all could have been resolved in a lengthy paragraph or a page. I found the ending and reveal of the arsonist anticlimactic. I really liked these characters and wanted more layers and nuance for their stories. So while this was a riveting page-turner, the last 10% was a disappointment, but I would still recommend it for an entertaining read.

After and prior to a fire at the office building tying the women together. I was quickly drawn into the mystery and the twists and turns. This was a quick read and kept me engaged to want to find out who did what. At the same time, some pieces just didn’t quite add up. Laura is over the top emotional - yes, she just had a baby, but if she would just speak to her husband without constantly thinking he doesn’t understand her, a lot of her problems could’ve been avoided. Harry is a one dimensional boss whose motivations are unclear. The ending would’ve probably been better if it hadn’t attempted to give a resolution to everyone’s situation.

Ok, whats with complex women and their secrets?! This is the 5th book that I’ve read in that category and this sure lives upto expectations!
Three woman, one secret which will take them down. Blindly go in and trust me, you’ll be sucked in from the beginning. I really liked the relationship and link between the characters and the suspense they hold. The story flow is engaging, suspenseful and kept me guessing how the suspense would break. The story flow alters between past and present, but its really contributing to the plot. This is my first Heidi Perks book and it won’t be the last!

This is my second Heidi Perks book that I have read, and I think she may be a new favorite author. This story of three women and their secrets is captivating and suspenseful. I thoroughly enjoyed it!

The story begins as an advertising agency building is burning to the ground and a body is being removed from the scene. The story then flashes back in time to weeks before the fire when Laura, an ad executive, returns to work after maternity leave to find her temporary replacement, Mia, making herself a permanent fixture in Laura's workplace. Tensions brew, and the boss's wife, Janie, becomes involved in the drama that unfolds. Throughout the story, the reader is trying to figure out what these women are hiding and who started the fire that brings down the agency.

I found the characters interesting and complex. For a good bit of the story, I struggled to determine how each character connected to the others and why they seemed to have it in for each other. There was something in the past that was causing the tensions, and it was fun as a reader to try to decipher what that was. I was unable to guess the culprit until the reveal, which made me very happy. I do not like a thriller in which I can predict the outcome too early on.

The narrative devices used by the author help to create suspense and keep the reader engaged. While the point of view remains third person throughout, the narrator focuses on the thoughts and feelings of each female character at different times in the book. This allows the reader to see each of their perspectives. The story also shifts from the past to present every few chapters. In the present, a detective is interviewing witnesses and suspects about the fire. I thought this was a great suspense building technique.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. I like how the story unfolds, and I am satisfied with how it ends. I would definitely recommend this to readers that like a good mystery aspect to their thrillers.
