A simple little story about a crane. Kids who love heavy equipment and trucks will love this story. The pictures are very vibrant also. Definitely a winner.

This was a cute vehicle book with vibrant illustrations and I think all kids would like this - especially the kids who are obsessed with vehicles!

Sometimes simply telling an observed story on a journey is the best way to enjoy the passage of time travelling and bring the world within touching distance.

I’m amazed how much my 3 year old grandson takes in on his trips home after spending time with us.

Apart from reading which he loves, he adores trucks, lorries and construction vehicles.

Needless to say he loved this story of Dex, a small mobile crane who along with his operator, Pete have received a request to undergo a long journey to complete a special job.

My grandson was delighted by this colourful story with many an illustration of cranes at work. He made a link with the little blue truck which he also adores but found this so fascinating with every new turn of the page.
It is the sight of so many different types of cranes and lifting gear, some interact with Dex who is the conduit through which our kids will delight in this story.

Each task the different cranes perform are best suited to them but although they are friendly Dex, the little red crane knows he has a special job that he is needed to perform.

Finally his work is revealed which shows his value and why each has a role to play in terms of access, purpose and function.

The book outlines a vast range of working operations within a story. It has an index where a number of cranes are shown in more detail including their lifting strength. There is this additional message of diversity; that big is not always better. An important early life lesson to share.

It is this thoughtfulness and values shown, that makes this a very special book.

A nice story for learning about a variety of different cranes. A crane fanatic would enjoy it but there are other construction books that I would choose over this one.

Sadly I was unable to read this as the file is not one my device supports. I may get my littlest brother a copy and review it then. I don't know yet.

From my understanding, young children are obsessed with construction vehicles, which is why I am always looking for new books about them for my son. The Little Red Crane is a book that includes various construction sites and vehicles, mainly cranes. I honestly did not know there were so many different cranes until I read this book!

The Little Red Crane is about a portable crane named Dex. One day, Dex and Pete receive a letter in the mail saying that Dex is needed for a big project. So, Dex and Pete pack up and headed out to the project site. Along the way, they come across many different types of cranes: a loader crane, telescope crane, ship-building crane, ship-to-shore crane, an oil rig with cranes, floating crane, mobile crane, and a tower crane. The whole way, the reader and Dex are wondering what this big project for such a small little crane could be. In the end, you find out what the big project for Dex was, and how he can lift extremely heavy objects even though he is so small.

This is a great book to learn about different cranes. The last couple of pages have different facts about the cranes mentioned in the book. I think this is a great story about how someone/something that is so small can actually help do something big, which is a great lesson for any child to learn. The illustrations were great in this book and will capture the attention of a child. I would recommend this story for ages 3 to 7, especially if they love construction sites or vehicles. The Little Red Crane is a great educational book that would make a good addition to any young child's reading collection.

A charming story with illustrations that remind me of the Little Golden Books! Dex, the little crane, gets an invitation to a BIG job. We don't know what the job is but on his way he passes lots of other bigger cranes. Each time he tells them he's on his way to a BIG job. What's the big job? You'll have to read it to find out but kids will just love what it turns out to be!
A great book for kids who love trucks and dinosaurs!

This is a fantastic book for anyone that loves trucks. Not only is it a sweet story but it introduces readers to much less known trucks.

The Little Red Crane by Cornelius Van Wright is a nicely illustrated story that is prefect for younger children who are fascinated by vehicles and heavy construction equipment. I think fans of Thomas the Tank Engine and Bob the Builder would love this story. The story centers on crane named Dex and his operator named Pete. Dex is mini crane and his design is really quite fascinating. I have personally never seen this type of crane. Dex is off to work on a very big job and has to travel through the city to get to the job site. Along the way, Dex encounters other cranes, who tell Dex about their respective jobs. When Dex reaches his destination, he helps assemble a tyrannosaurs rex as part of an exhibit. Also along the way, there are some facts thrown in, such as how a ton weighs 2,000 pounds. At the end of the book, there are pages which give some truly interesting facts about cranes.
As an elementary school teacher, I can say that students will enjoy this book at story time. I also see students wanting to look at this book on their own during free reading time. I am a special education teacher and all of my students are on the autism spectrum and LOVE vehicles. This book is a must have addition for my classroom library,

This was a fun little look at various types of cranes. Dax is a mini Crane and he's on his way to a very important job. Along the way he meets various other friends and types of cranes and you the reader get an idea of what they're used for. The story is simple but informative, the illustrations are nice, and would be a nice addition to any Library collection.

The Little Red Crane is a cute book that will fit right in with books like Mighty, Mighty Construction Site Sherri Rinker and the Machines At Work series by Kate McMullan. The wonderful vocabulary words make this great for preschool age construction and machine lovers.

A little crane goes on a big trip, encountering other fascinating vehicles along the way.

The illustrations are great but the story is nonexistent. This too plainly panders to vehicle lovers and lacks substance. The dinosaur at the end made it especially clear that this book threw together all the things most little boys love with no clear goal.

Many other, better vehicle books exist.

Thank you, NetGalley, for the advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

The Little Red Crane is a cute little book that will make those little automobile lovers go WILD!

Dex, the Little Red Crane, and his operator Pete like to help on big projects! They are always up for the challenge! Along the way, they meet many other cool cranes and see many cool vehicles. All the while, they are being helpful and friendly. Also, not to spoil, but I thought the big job at the end was cute and amusing! I definitely did not expect that ending.

There's lots of terminology used in this book that I didn't know, but I know little kids who loves trucks and building will adore it. Telescopic crane was one of those terms I had to do a little digging to learn about, but it was worth it. The pictures and colours are also on point, and make for a very supplement to the story.

I also really liked the fun facts about cranes at the end! Little educational moments make books like this totally worth it!

I think this book will be an excellent addition to children's bookshelves and classrooms. Children who love cars and building will definitely think this book is a smash.

Four out of five stars.

Thank you to NetGalley and Star Bright Books for an opportunity to read this book.

Dex, a little red crane, and his very tall operator, Pete, have been requested to fill an important BIG project that is far away. As they journey along they meet up with a myriad of humungous cranes assigned to different types of jobs.

Dex, upon witnessing the strength and important of these cranes begins to feel intimated and very small. Is he going to be able to successfully complete the job he is on his way to undertake? The powerful inspiring message tells readers that we all are unique and each of us have a custom-made job that we are more than capable of performing.

Wow! Who knew so many types of cranes existed? I learned a lot. Kids will love to see these powerful mighty machines in different scenarios carrying out the jobs that they were created to do.

The illustrations are beautifully done. They are bright and colourful and enrich the text greatly. Little ones will be filled with a sense of wonder as they flip the pages of the book and learn about these gigantic machines that oftentimes they can see in real life. The author has included a section entitled, "Fun Facts About Cranes" at the end of the book for deeper understanding of these incredible monsters. Storywraps recommends this book!

As a preschool teacher I am amazed at how much 3-5 year olds LOVE trucks and of all sizes and construction vehicles such as the ones in The Little Red Crane. This is a colorful and adorable story preschoolers will have fun with while learning a few things about cranes as well! I’d love to add this one to our library! I’m sure it would be a hit!

I received an advanced reader copy of this book in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.

This is a delightful story about a little crane who goes to do a big job in a big city. Dex the little crane is very proud to be going so far away to do such an important job but after seeing so many huge, powerful cranes he begins to feel like he's too small to be sent to do a special job, but when he does it it's an amazing, unique job he has been sent to do.
The end of the book gives descriptions of loads of different cranes featured in the book. I never realised how many different types of cranes there are!
This is a bright and interesting book for young children and they will most certainly be spotting more cranes after reading it.

Our boys loved anything that has to do with construction worksites when they were toddlers and preschoolers so when I saw the cover for this children's picture book I knew I had to pick it up. The Little Red Crane is beautifully illustrated and the art is child-friendly while also super detailed.

The story shares a team of cranes that work together to accomplish something pretty incredible! There are elements of teamwork and working towards a common goal in this approachable narrative. I definitely recommend this sweet and thoughtful children's picture book!

The Little Red Crane is a wonderful exploration of the different types of cranes and their jobs as Dex heads to a really BIG job. Dex is the smallest crane featured in the book and the story has a mix of classical vibes and Bob the Builder. The illustrations are bright, colorful, and bring the story to life. I can easily see Kindergartners and first-graders loving this story then seeing a few cranes around their town.

Thank you NetGalley and Star Bright Books for the opportunity to read an advance reading copy.
