Cold case detective Katie Scott starts to investigate the death of her aunt when she sees a similarity to a cold case that her uncle worked on earlier. Despite being a part of a series, this book could be read as a stand-alone. The narrative is fast paced and made me finish it in one go. The suspense is well maintained to the end. The only hitch I felt was, in the first cold case the questions raised by Katie herself were not explained. An enjoyable read. Go for it.

Flowers on her Grave by a Jennifer Chase is the third book in the Detective Katie Scott series. I haven’t read the previous books but you can certainly read this one as a stand-alone.

From the first page you are straight into the action. After her aunt and uncle’s anniversary party, Katie arrives the next morning to find her aunt’s body. All fingers appear to be pointing towards her uncle as the killer so Katie must now face the toughest investigation of her career.

Well written, this book kept me entertained to the end and I look forward to reading more books in this series.

Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture and the author for the chance to review.

Detective Katie Scott is back with her toughest case yet. Proving that her uncle, Sheriff Wayne, did not kill his wife.

Katie has her hands full in this one as she is the only one that believes her uncle is innocent. As per her usual she ignores her peers and starts digging into his old cases and is shocked to find there is an old murder with a similar MO. Its Katie's determination of pulling thread after thread that finally leads her to the killer but as with most killers he doesnt want to be found and will do what it takes to keep his secrets hidden.

Katie is also moving along in her personal life. Seeing a psychiatrist more to deal with her PTSD and she is more open to starting a relationship with her childhood friend Chad Fergison.

It’s impossible for Katie to believe. Her aunt and uncle seemed so much in love, but now with her aunt murdered, all eyes turn to Katie’s uncle, the local sheriff. Katie, a detective herself knows she must look st the evidence objectively , her uncle’s fingerprints are on the murder weapon. And when she’s caught looking for clues to exonerate him, she’s busted back to cold cases. While she has easy access to old records, Katie begins examining her uncle’s old cases, looking for any evidence that he may have been set up. And she finds it, in a gruesome photo of a woman murdered and tied to a tree, the cause of death the same as her aunt’s. Chase knows her way around a police investigation, her crime details are well researched and accurate and her story line compelling

Not having read any of the previous 2 in this series i was intrigued to start this read and 100 percent enjoyed it so will now be reading the previous two

When her uncle is accused of murder Detective Katie Scott is relocated to the cold case team and kept entirely away from her aunts murder case, someone does not want her investigating the murder but when a cold case file from her uncles old cases is opened she finds parallels between the murders and despite warnings she begins unravelling the clues
