This is an easy-to-follow guide that would be best for young school-aged children, possible aged 7-9. It uses items that many families have on hand or that could be pulled from the recyclables. It's split into convenient sections and has a handy table of contents for reference, as well as a glossary.

Thank you NetGalley for the advance digital copy in exchange for my honest review. I purchased a copy for my library.

Any book that encourages kids to get outside, I'm interested! This one is a goldmine because it appeals to science, getting involved with nature, and the hands on activities that encourage kids to grow up with a healthy curiosity and not be scared of mud, insects and the like.
A lovely addition to any classroom (and a push to get into the playground!), playgroup or home with young children.
It's so easy to follow the activities, and most of them use easily available materials you can find at home or obtain without much difficulty. 5 stars for accessibility and 5 for fun!

Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for letting me read an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Experiment with Outdoor Science is an exceptional book. This book features many outdoor Experiments teaching on the topics such as mixing, separating, plants, bugs, birds, sky and space. I was very impressed with the topics covered.

Each section has 5 or more experiments and a glossary where young scientists can look up the meaning of science words to learn more. Each experiment begins with a list of needed materials and shows a beautiful picture of the experiment. The steps are listed in a way that is easy to read and follow. It also provides picture of the steps. This book teaches not only the How but The Why. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking to teach children science.

I received this book from NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group for an honest review.

This is a great book for home and in the classroom, but it takes you outside for wonderful science experiments and activities. There are many fun varieties provided in this book from chemical reactions to moving movements. The best thing is you pretty much have everything you need at home. This book is part of the STEAM Ahead series making it great for a school library too, but perfect to have at home. The goal is to show you that science is all around us and not just something we see at school. We can see it in the garden and the kitchen. It is fun for the whole family.

This would be a great book for children who are interested in nature. I especially liked the bright colors, and coded message boxes ("ask an adult," red warning boxes for possible minor dangers, yellow mess warnings). The book has five chapters focusing on movement, mixing/separating, plants, bugs/birds, and sky/space. Each project is described with a materials list, step-wise directions, diagrams and photos. They look like fun experiments that any child could do. I'm going to get this book for my grand-niece, who loves science and the outdoors.

Experiment with Outdoor Science is an accessible science-based STE(A)M experiment collection aimed at younger readers. Due out 17th March 2020 from Quarto on their QEB imprint, it's 80 pages and will be available in hardcover format.

These are 30 very simple experiments using easily sourced materials, which are generally safe and illustrative. A short introductory chapter is followed by experiments grouped roughly by discipline: kinetics/movement, physical chemistry/mixtures, plant science, zoology, sky & space. The experiments are easy to follow and safe. Safety tips are highlighted with a red triangle and an exclamation point in a sidebar. Tips and tricks are also included in sidebars. Measurements are provided in the instructions in American standard and metric.

Each of the experiments includes tools and supplies list in a sidebar along with step by step instructions. There are tutorial photos as well as line drawn diagrams and pictures for each of the activities along with some very simple explanations of the theory. The book also includes a glossary and index.

Four stars.

This is a great book for parents, grandparents and teachers who want to encourage their young one's interest in science and nature. Good illustrations geared to the 8-10 year old. This is part of the STEAM Ahead series. Chapters include: Bugs and Birds, Sky and Space, Plants , Moving moments, and Mixing and separating. They cover some physics, biology and astronomy. All have list of needed items and each step is illustrated. A nice index at the end and a good Table of Contents start off the book. I received a copy of this ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.

This book is honestly unremarkable. It contains a lot of the same experiments as many other books geared toward the same age group. It contains small bits of information about the science behind each experiment, but not enough to make this book stand out.

This book was sort of eh for me. It features a variety of very simple experiments kids can do outside, mostly with things from the recycling bin. Simple color illustrations are provided and generally a color photo (though sometimes a stock photo), and then there's a blurb that tells the science behind what's happening. Most of these are quite simple -- make a frisbee out of plastic plates, make a rain gauge from a pop bottle that's been cut and rearranged, make a boat from a piece of waxed paper, etc. I do appreciate that it talks about the science behind what's happening, but it's not very in-depth info. I can't see these really inspiring many kids and they are not very advanced. We have many better books in our homeschool library already, but it's not a bad one for what it is.

I read a temporary digital ARC of this book for the purpose of review.
