Ahhhhh this was just such a great read. I just didn't want this book to end and I was sad to turn the last page. I'm so excited to see what's next from this author.

this was a really good young adult novel, it had what I was looking for in that type of book and I really enjoyed reading it. The characters were great.

4.5 Stars! I’ve been waiting a long, long time for this book. I started this series back in 2012 and, quite honestly, wasn’t sure I’d see this day. But I’m very glad it finally arrived. And, funny enough, I slipped right back into the Denazen world as if I’d been there just yesterday. The author did a great job of helping me remember what I had clearly forgotten due to time, but she did so in a casual, smooth way that didn’t feel forced or like a data dump. As I immersed myself back in this world, all the emotions of Dez and Kale came flooding back and I remembered why I loved this series so much.

All the adventure and excitement is still there and there’s a nice maturity to the characters. I enjoyed their interactions and banter and I loved that Dez still had emotional challenges to face…and big decisions to make. This story brings more mysteries to solve and more secrets to uncover but, what I enjoyed most was watching Dez and Kale work through what the world had thrown at them. The simplicity of first love that I first fell for has been complicated by circumstance and seeing them wade through that was both fun and emotional.

This is a series that you need to read from the beginning. In order to get the full emotional impact of all that happens you need to be invested in these characters like I was…you need to feel it deep down. The series is now complete so, for those of you who hate to wait, you’re in luck. You can follow Dez and Kale’s adventure, twists and turns, and romance from beginning to end and, trust me, you definitely should.

I wish I could say, wow this book blew me away and it was worth every day of wait. But I’m sorry, I can’t.

First, I’ll share a little of what I did like about this book, and then I’ll touch on the points that ultimately made it fail to live up to its potential.

---The characters I'd missed so much? They were back just as I remembered them. Something I was worried about after such a long time was that maybe the characters would sound different? That the journey they’d had up until this point wouldn’t match with their representation in this book. But I was happy to discover that it was a seamless transition in that sense. I didn’t get the feeling that suddenly Dez or anyone else was acting ‘out of character’.

But even though being back in this world was amazing, now I have to talk about what bothered me while I was reading.

---I was expecting this really fast-paced, tension-filled journey for this last book, but instead there was a… treasure hunt. At least that’s what it felt like.

First they had to find someone, then it turns out they’re leaving clues at specific places and they have to get the clues before the other team (Denazen) does. It just seemed so very basic. There was a reason for this kind of plot but still it just wasn’t fun to read. Now that I think about it, it was probably because the characters did a lot of waiting around until the next clue so they weren’t actively acting and making things happen.

It was convoluted, and even Dez said so. Unfortunately, having a character recognize a flaw in the book doesn’t really fix the issue.

---I don’t know about other readers, but for me, from the beginning this series was about Kale and Dez. Them meeting each other was what set everything in motion, and while the revolution of the Sixes could probably go on without them, they’re still key players in this whole thing.

From the beginning, this has also been about their relationship, because that’s what the books have been building up since chapter one of the first book. I was disappointed to find that this last book lacked so much interactions between them! I kept waiting for more sweet scenes between them giving each other strength, growing as the power couple I know they are.

Instead, for the majority of the book they’re struggling with Kale’s powers going wild, something that continues being a problem up until the very end of the book. After everything they went through, the closure they get in the end just wasn’t enough.

---I also felt like the book picked the wrong villain for the climactic confrontation, and that had a huge negative effect on how satisfied I was with the ending.

Didn’t realise this was book 4 in a series so I’m definitely going to go and read the others now, as such I can’t leave a negative review due to my error. So looking forward to reading the previous 3 books.

Will be Dez and Kale a tragic couple?

There are almost nine years since I read the first volume! In all this time my expectations did not diminish. If Touch, the first volume, came in a time when there was a hunger for YA stories with paranormal elements, Transcendent has to face not only the eventual forgetfulness of us, the "old" fans, but also the "consequences" of the huge quantity of books and movies with kindred subjects: saturation and high expectations. After reading Transcendent, I'm quite confident that Mrs. Jus Accardo (hi!) will tick off another success.

Even if, of course, it is recommended to read the entire series in order, the necessary details to understand what's happening and enjoy Transcendent are offered.

Adding, eliminating, "replacing" characters in a steady rhythm, the story of our heroes continues without breaks. The few more relaxed bits are only the quiet moments before the storm. And storms will be and they will bring havoc. The battle between good and evil never stops. Impossible choices and tough decisions, relationship changes, confrontations of the supernatural powers and human determination, sacrifices and more... nothing is missing. All these elements are well used and combined, readers' curiosity and anxiety being efficiently manipulated. The real and fatal damage remains a permanent threat. Everything is changing. Ms. Accardo doesn't have mercy for her characters or for her readers. And the readers will love it all.

Another thing that I liked is that, under the lines and without negatively affecting the story or its pace, Ms. Accardo serves to the young (or older) readers more serious things to think about. She is an author to keep an eye on.

I received this ARC from Netgalley. The review is my own honest opinion.
I think this was a good conclusion to this series. I feel like Dez really develops a lot in this book.
Having said that the relationship between Kale and Dez annoys me throughout the book. I got so tired of the one step forward two steps back with them. but overall this book tied things up well and I really enjoyed the end.

I'm so happy/sad that one of my all time favorite series is complete. I simply couldn't put the book down and was continously surprised but all the crazy twists and turns. So without spoiling anything I will give you a hint all of your questions from the three previous books will finally be answered and you'll be shocked but happy with the answers. Of course not everyone will get a happy ending but it'll leave you plenty satisfied. I found the writing to have a nice flow and it kept me more engaged than the previous books. The only thing I wish there was a little more of is Kale Dez time but that could be just me as I'm a big sucker for anything romantic. Thank you Jus Accardo for such an amazing end to one of my favorite series!

* I received an eARC of this novel via Netgalley. This has not influenced my review.

This is the book I've been waiting over 6 years for and it was oh so very worth it! If I thought the last book in this series was action-packed this one took it to a whole new level. Things were happening one right after the other! There were times where I found myself holding my breath and bracing for the worst. The writing carried this story so well! I went through so many ups and downs. This book made me a blubbering mess and I loved it SO much!

I don't even know what to say about the characters at this point. Dez and Kale are so good together but the world keeps dropping bombs on their precious relationship and their family. Considering they stood the test of time throughout this series I'm pretty sure they have a great future ahead of them.

Brandt stood out to me this time around. I adored the revelations by the almost end of the book. It all made sense! I was so happy and yet sad for the decisions that had to be made that involved Dez and Brandt, Kale and so many more.

Considering the open-ended ending I'd love to see Brandt continue with this series from his perspective. I'd also love to see an end to Denazen. Like, burn it down to the ground and dance on its ashes type of deal. I'd also love for a certain not-a-sister to die a permanent death. Though I have a feeling that if we get another book in this series she's probably going to play a big part as the bad guy because I really don't want to see her "reformed". Her rightful place is in a ditch because of everything she did or helped do to Kale and Dez.

My Favorite Quotes:

"The bond we had came along once every ten lifetimes."

"The truth didn't always set you free. Sometimes it made you a prisoner, chained to an idea that would never become a reality."

"Monsters weren't generally born. They were created."

"The boy she’d lost, and finally found again, is not the same boy she remembers.

As one of the most powerful Sixes, Kale has changed in ways Dez can’t ignore.

He swore he’d never kill, and now he’s out for blood.

He swore he’d never harm her, and now he struggles to control his fatal touch.

They’ve been to hell and back, over and over, but this time they might not survive the fire."

'Transcendent' is the fourth book in the Denazen Novels by Jus Accardo. I have not ready any of the previous parts of the story, but suffice it to say.. though I didn't 'love' this book.. it was still highly enjoyable and I absolutely liked Kale enough to go back and buy the first three. The history in his wake has been a rough one and somehow he's still come through it with a tenderness and loyalty that others easily throw away.

Essentially, Denazen is a corporation run by a greedy, diabolical individual who has systematically hunted down people with special abilities, called 'Sixes.' He's not above torture, manipulation, exploitation, extortion, or anything else to get what he wants from them.

Some of the Sixes we meet in this book have already been through just about everything he has to throw at them in previous novels, but you know how evil geniuses are.. always working on one more thing to use as leverage. This one is no exception.. and he really is awful.

I did feel like I needed a bit of a scorecard to keep up with character family ties. Everyone is either related to everyone else, is and/or was involved with everyone else, or at some point one and/or both of those things changes at least once. While I'm sure it's meant to keep things interesting, I felt like it had the reverse effect. After enough incidents of it, I just blew off whatever changes occurred and didn't care.

Likewise, while I said I loved Kale, with the exception of a supporting character named Aubrey.. no one else really moved me. The main character swings back and forth between being kind of petulant and thinking she's a bad ass and the cast of characters treat her like she's the latter, but she's much closer to the former.

There's plenty of drama, emotionally and otherwise.. I just never felt connected to any of the characters and easily there should have been a couple of scenes that would have made me tear up, but they didn't.

It was definitely a page-turner though and the author handled fight scenes well, describing just enough to give the reader a visual, without drowning them in a transcribed attempt at showing them the entire thing start to finish. I'll also say, some of the abilities designed in this story are surprisingly creative, not always 100% good for the wielder, and in one case.. as it develops.. pretty damned cool to 'see.'

As I said before, I'll definitely try to go back and read the first three books eventually, if only to see the rest of Kale's story, but if I get to busy and it doesn't happen.. I won't be crushed either.

Honestly, I knew I was going to like it, but I am completely blown away.

Hooked from the start, Deznee has become one of my favorites because of our shared coffee addiction.

Fans of I am number four and the shatter me series will find this intoxicatingly delicious. Action-packed from the word go, this novel has everything a reader of dystopian fiction would love. And also I'm a sucker for a rebellion story.

Easy to read, easy to follow, the ultimate beat-the-slump book to get you hooked. Dealing with a wide variety of difficult to navigate relationships, this book has made reading sometimes overly dramatic teenage emotional outbursts not just bearable but exciting. You feel everything the character feels.

Follow the story of Kale and Deznee as they deal with the fall out of an old secret, that can change their world forever. New mysterious characters bring about more secrets, while our two heroes are still trying to figure out how to recover.

Accardo is such a talented writer! I was excited to read this novel! It was so intense and the ending.... well you'll have to read it to find out!

I received an advance reader copy for a fair review. These opinions are my own.

I knew it had been a while since I had read anything in this series, but I honestly hadn’t realised how long ago it was that I had read Tremble. It was way back in April 2013! That made me wonder when I had initially started reading the first book in the series so I decided to check back and it was in 2012. Having said all that as soon as I found out this book was due for release, I knew there was no doubt that I had to read it.

Transcendent picks up the story with Dez and Kale both back with the Underground, though because the Sanctuary Hotel was burnt down the new headquarters are quite literally under ground and the land and modest log cabin building that is over the Undergrounds heads is owned by Daxon Fleet. The new headquarters are quite a large and roomy upgrade to what the Underground Sixes had become used to. The new compound has work out areas, a library and a swimming pool too.

The immediate task at hand that the elderly yet still energetic Underground Leader, Ginger tasks Dez, Kale and the other operatives with is to find the Nines before Denazen Corporation get to them and Marshall is in control of them. Deznee still doesn’t know the identity of her biological father, though she knows that it isn’t Marshall Cross, which she is glad about. Dez’s mum Sue does end up giving her daughter her biological fathers first name but refuses to reveal anything else to Dez. Dez and her mother are still learning to be around each other, and it’s apparent that Sue is upset she didn’t get to see, or be part of her daughter’s formative childhood years. That relationship isn’t the only one Dez is struggling with. Dez is finding it difficult to get past the fact that Kale had a liaison with Kiernan, even though he was brainwashed into doing so, and they had to make Kiernan look a lot like Dez. Dez would love nothing more than to fight and beat Kiernan and she does have an opportunity or two for revenge in Transcendent. Dez is still the hot headed, impulsive character we know and love. Kale is also still besotted with Dez and would do anything to ensure her continued safety.

As well as older, familiar, favourite characters such as Dez, Kale, Brandt, Ginger and Dax there are also newer ones coming to the fore in this book, like Zieke and Mindy. Kale is struggling in this book to control his powers that have been somewhat changed since Denazen Corporation had him and gave him their new drug Dominion. Kale is afraid he might end up killing someone he loves, specifically Dez. They are together, as we learnt in the other books, there is no one else for them except for each other, but that doesn’t mean they don’t have a lot of ups and downs and some outside interference thrown into their relationship. Ginger has a revelation for Deznee which she at first blankly refuses to even consider, then much later she seems to understand what Ginger was saying to her and preparing her for. Deznee has a tough, life-altering, heart-breaking decision to make.

I will be truly honest I did initially worry whether I would remember things that had happened earlier in the series but I needn’t have worried as by just 6% of the way into Transcendent I had slipped right back into the Denazen world. The way Jus Accardo has written this book, it explains actions and reactions of characters so well that its definitely not difficult to recall previous incidents that occurred in other books. I have always loved the world and the characters that Jus created. I really like the fact not every character is purely black or white all the time. The way Kylee has loyalty to Denazen as she was taken in and given a home when she needed one, but she also has her own sense of what is right or wrong. Kylee can see events from the point of view of the Underground too. There are certainly times when despite being on the opposite side of the war between Denazen Corporation and the Underground she is blatantly understanding of Deznee’s feelings about her mother Sue, and her urgency to get her hands on the necessary antidote to cure her of the poison that has been injected into her system.

I truly adore the camaraderie and deep bonds between the characters, obviously there’s Dez & Kale, Dez & Brandt, but there also Kale & Aubrey and despite being on different sides of the “war” Aubrey & Able too. This book has lots going on it from the beginning to the very end and I have to say it still left me wanting even more.

My immediate thoughts on finishing this book were Wow, I can't believe I doubted that I would slip right back into this fantastic series. It was like meeting up with old friends. Definitely one I hated having to put down.

To sum up, I really love this series, along with characters and world within it. The writing style of Jus Accardo makes her books so easy to read. This book really was addictive reading, I finished reading well into the late hours of the night/early hours of the morning. What more can I say, I am so looking forward to even more from this series, I don’t want it to ever end!!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I received this book via NetGalley.

I honestly have to say that I´ve been in love with this series from the start. Kale and Dez are very dear to my heart and I always hoped that someday by some miracle I could have some more time with them.

Reading to me is like leaving multiple lives, if a book is well written, it can suck you in so deep that you can feel your heartbeat racing with the character´s, you feel what they feel, you see what they see, you become a part of the world and that is what the author managed to do here.

This book is the perfect ending to this series, It´s action packed and has more twist and turns than a cheap garden hose. I was quite shocked by some of the things that happened others I saw coming but still they were flawlessly achieved.

Dez is still one of my favorite female leads. She is strong, resourceful and isn´t scared to make some hard choices when needed be, she is loyal to a fault, loves completely and is willing to fight teeth and nails to keep the people she loves safe.

Kale deep down still is the same guy we meet in the first book, He´s been through a lot and that has made him a little harder but his heart is gold, what I like the most about him is that he is the perfect match for Dez. He´s always pushing her to be better, stronger, he supports her decision even if he doesn’t agree and has her back every time she gets into trouble.

Brandt is one of the most amazing characters I´ve met I love him so much I could easily read a whole series just of him.

I cried, I laughed and at times I wanted to through my phone with how mad I got, so yeah it was really THAT good.

I can´t tell you much more without going to spoiler world, but I can tell you this. You guys need to preorder this book now, It´s amazing the ending is perfect. I kind of hope the author decides to continue this world maybe with a different main character, even though I think it will be hard to find another voice as amazing as Dez.
