This was such a fun book. Ideas for a future for kids that steps beyond the norm. Wilder and more exciting. Idea after idea that my son had a blast imagining.

I enjoyed this book and the fact it focuses on a nice mix of jobs that kids might have heard of... or not. But the best part about this book is the illustrations- because they are incredibly inclusive compared to many other children's books. We see representations of all races, skin colors, hair colors and abilities! I think the only thing that would have made this better is if it's in a format of a traditional picture book (remember I got a digital copy so it's hard to tell) is pop-out bubbles with a little bit more explanation about the jobs- or information in the back after the alphabet concludes.

I liked this book much more than I thought I would. When I was growing up, I went to Montessori where we were taught "You Can Be What You Want to Be," which was also the title of a play and song about Maria Montessori. And this book really echoes that idea. Each letter of the alphabet gets its own page with a potential occupation and one sentence describing what that job would be. They're all fun possibilities and definitely think outside of the box. And in the illustrations, she included different races and ethnicities as well as differently abled people. It's subtly obvious. And fear not, boys, you will be inspired by this book as well.

Thank you to the publisher for fulfilling my review request via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Goodreads Review-Thank you to Net Galley for a copy of this book.

The illustrations in this book represented a wide variety of girls, and the alphabet walked through a WIDE variety of jobs (house inspector, aerialist, etc). I appreciated the variety of jobs, and, most importantly, the variety of girls represented in the images. This was a nice ABS board book.

I thought this was a really cool idea for a board book, and I liked the jobs that were included. While I understood why it was targeted at young girls, I felt like it was the sort of book that could apply to all children since some of the jobs were things that are more uncommon

It's a simple alphabet book. It has jobs you don't normally see in other alphabet books, which is a high point. However it's subtitled “a gutsy girls ABC” and this could be for girls or boys. The author has said it's a girl so I don't care for that. overall it's standard. There is nothing special, there's nothing unique. It will be read and it will fit into many collections, however I don't think it has staying power.

From candy maker to quarry maker, this short book offers an array of twenty-six jobs that little girls can be when they grow up. If they want to be a jockey or a sportscaster or anything, they can. Even better than the careers presented was the variety of women depicted, women of different colors and abilities. This is exactly the kind of book that very young girls need.

We love abc books and gutsy girl books that show different options for our kids future. This one didn’t disappoint. And the illustrations are cute!

I have four daughters so it is very important to me that I do everything I can to raise them to feel powerful, strong, and confident in themselves. This is a fantastic book to add to your home to let girls see the many possibilities in the future.

The illustrations are very cute and playful and my younger daughters (ages 5 and 9) loved this book! There is also excellent representation of all races and varying abilities. I loved the alphabet-style format of the book and learned a few things about the professions listed!

This is a sweet, fun, and meaningful read that every little girl should own!

A girl that you know can be anything that she dreams of... a Cake maker or a  Food scientist or a House inspector or a Kite designer or a Novelist or a Rancher...or a Zip line master.  There is something for every letter of the alphabet here in this vibrantly illustrated book.  Definitely a nice title to add to the ABC book shelf.

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this title in exchange for an honest review.

I received an early copy of this for my honest review.

I found this to be lacking something.

As a mom of 4 I’ve read my share of children’s books and it’s hard to keep kids focused on a book unless it’s just that good.

It was very short and it didn’t have much creativity.

I did love the illustrations, they were adorable.

It just wasn’t the book for us sadly.

I Want To Be is a colorful ABC book of careers for little ones! My two year old enjoyed this one. Each page includes the name of one career and one sentence about it. It features careers not often highlighted in other books: aerialist, home inspector, and x-ray technician, to name a few. The book featured characters of different ethnicities, as well as characters with visible disabilities. Highly recommended. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This as a super cute ABC book that shows girls all sorts of jobs they can have. The illustrations are lovely and colorful and show a diverse range of young girls. This is absolutely the kind of book I would buy for my daughter who uses a wheelchair to show her she can do anything.

This book shows lots of possible careers for girls and using specific names (quarry worker) and colorful and detailed pictures with a diverse array of girls. While this seems to be planned as a board book for ages 0 to 2 years I think that older kids would benefit much more and it would trigger great conversations between the reader and child who is a little older. If the format was a larger picture book (not a board book that screams baby) this might be a good for an early reader though many job names are pretty challenging (aerialist).

This children’s book was so fun to read with the kids! It is empowering for little girls and has the most unique choices for careers! It brought up great discussions about what some people do for work and helped my nanny kids think deeper about what they might be when they grow up!

Cute illustrations are the highlight of this board book about unusual careers girls can pursue. My granddaughter is all about the ABC's right now and this provides a fresh take on a common subject.

A wonderful ABC book that doubles as an occupation or "What do you want to be when you grow up?" book.

The book, "I Want To Be," provides a refreshing take on the alphabet. Instead, of the mundane "A is for Apple," you have "A is for Aerialist." There are quite a few interesting occupations -- of particular interest for me was "U is for Ufologist." Really? I had to look that one up.

The illustrations are well done and I'm sure they will delight parents and children alike. I really think that there should also be a "I Want To Be...A Gutsy Boys" book.

Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to read this book and provide my honest opinion.

I love that picture books, and now board books are about things beyond cute bunnies.

It is never too early to let kids know about the world out there, and this is all about different jobs that are available. Jobs such as Food Scientist or Kit Builder, or Oceanographer.

One reviewer thought it would hard to explain these things to little kids, but kids are sponges, and they are amazing what they absorb and retain. It is ok if they don't understand right away. The important part is introducing them to the concepts.

Thanks to Netgalley for making this book available for an honest review.

A fun alphabet book that focuses on different occupations that a child can look forward to trying to be. Fun illustrations will keep children entertained.
