Is is a scaled down version of Beauty and The Beast that would be great for children. It is closer to the original tale instead of being another Disney version which I love. Everything is well drawn I love the look of the book. In the back there are writing prompts and discussion questions that actually make kids think. The prompts are actual standards that I teach so I love that. I want to check out some of the other fairy tales they have done.

One of my favorite Disney princess stories! Beauty and the Beast is a classic; Gunderson's adaptation was a revamped new twist bringing Belle into 2020. I found it very interesting that Belle had sisters when in the original she was an only child. Reminiscent of another one of Disney's creations, Cinderella. The artwork/graphics were exquisite, loved how all the characters were drawn. A nice, enjoyable, easy read; great for early-readers. Preferably kids in first or second grade around six to seven years of age would absolutely love this book. One of my only wishes for this short story would have been the integration of other key characters; such as Lumiere, Cogsworth, Mrs. Potts, and the cutest one of them all Chip.

This is a short illustrated version of Beauty and the Beast. The art style was cute and perfect for the story. I did feel the story was very rushed though. It definitely needs more dialogue and more development to be a really good comic.

Positives: cute art style, enjoyable for a very young audience, a quick read to remind you of the story
Negatives: doesn't come with anything new, rushed dialogue, the narrator is only present at the beginning and the very end of the story

Cute, perfect for a younger audience. I liked that there is a more diverse representation of Beauty and the Beast.

This is such a cute early reading book. It' one step up from picture books and an adorable introduction to simplified fairy tales.
I really enjoyed the art style for the most part, it was very adorable though a little too short in my opinion. I believe they could've added beautiful illustrations to really captivate a younger reader and make them want to "see the pretty pictures" again, again and again.
Other than that my only other complaint would be the lack of storytelling, I understand minimizing it but in certain instances like when the sisters want her fortune, the authors could've added what happens in between that and the beast falling sick. It was cute but not captivating, nice but not anything new. Nothing made me think
if I have to buy a beauty and the beast retelling for a kid "This" is what I would choose. Unfortunately,
not a version I will remember with a particular fondness.
Otherwise a cute intro to comics/graphic novel for any children aged between 5-7 years old or children just learning to read on their own.

I was not impressed with this book at all! I am a huge Disney freak so I was excited to see a possible version of a Disney tale. I was surprised to see it was a graphic novel but thought it was a great way to bring them to kids. There were many things I didn’t like about this book! I hated the artwork, the plot was so different from the story, there was no fluff in the story.... and I could keep going! I do not think this was a great publication. It can use some work!

This was a cute adaptation of Beauty and the Beast. It didn't really add anything to the story, and was actually pretty basic, but the art is gorgeous.

A perfectly serviceable version of Beauty and the Beast. I enjoyed the addition of Beauty having sisters to this version of the tale, but other than that it's a mighty simplistic version that will only serve libraries that don't have many graphic adaptation of the story already.

This is a graphic short story on Beauty and The Beast, a REALLY short read! Only 34 pages. I loved the illustrations! Thais Damiaõ did a wonderful job on the graphics. I loved Belle. But it was too short. I realize that it's a children's book and hence she cut out a lot of harsher detailings but I do feel that it needed more depth in it. Don't get me wrong, it has great potential and the author's written is easy breezy. But I felt she didn't necessarily put that in it. If only she had added more detailing and depth, I would have rated full 5 stars.

Thank you, NetGalley and Capstone, for a complimentary copy of this graphic novel!

I give this one 3.5/5 stars rounded up to 4.
What do I like about the book?
The illustrations are lovely, the text is easy to understand, the discussion questions at the end of the story, and the arts and crafts idea in the back of the book.
If I had to recommend this book to someone, it would be someone who reads aloud to kids and discusses the meaning of the books. Why is that? Because this graphic novel is very simplified. It would be great for beginning assisted readers with the person reading to the kids adding to the story and explaining the message. This book makes a great quick book to read before bedtime.

They are united in unexpected circumstances and beast helps beauty to do her most daily works.
She returns home but can't forget the beast.

Illustrations are excellent and cute.
Vocabulary is simple and illustrations are large and perfect for reading by kids.
Thanks netgalley and publisher for review copy.

I feel a little bit conflicted rating this book. Beauty and the Beast lovely rewritten by Jessica Gunderson and beautifully illustrated by Thais Damião is an around 25 pages long graphic novel adaptation of the beloved classic fairy tale. I fell in love with the art style right away and I liked the Belle in this short book. I know that it's supposed to be a graphic novel for younger readers and so it's pretty simplified. But even if it is for the youngest fans of graphic novels, I think that this book had a lot of unused potential.

The story felt so rushed, that it was difficult to get a feeling for what was happening or for the characters. It felt more like a summary of a longer graphic novel, which I would have loved to read. I believe that if this book would have been around 100 pages (or longer), I'd still have made a great adaptation for younger readers while actually making the story feel more alive and well rounded.

What I really enjoyed were the writing prompts, discussion questions and the DIY paper roses guide at the end of the book, though. On the other hand it makes me question the supposed age of the readers again.

Overall it would have been a promising adaptation for me, if it would have been even a little bit longer. Especially because the art style is absolutely stunning.

I thought this was a great spin on Beauty and the Beast. It felt like a cross between Cinderella and Beauty and the Beast and it was done wonderfully. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys fairy tales. The graphic novel was very vibrant as well.

Typical beauty and the beast story. Wasn't unique enough to make me want to buy it. The illustrations were ok, but I felt the whole book could have been better.

Thank you to net galley and the publisher for gifting me a copy of this book to review.

I read this as soon as I downloaded it because I was in a fairytale mood. It was a quick and short read with wonderful artwork. The artwork is truly beautiful and I think it can be appreciated by anyone.

I think that children will enjoy this book more than I did but I'm not the target audience for this book. I enjoy Beauty and the Beast as a story and I liked how this one added in a Cinderella element. I did like the tale but I think they could have focussed on the relationship more and made it a little longer. The relationship is very insta-love which isn't realistic but again it's a children's fairy tale so I can understand why it was written the way it was. The characters weren't developed much and overall it felt like the story was rushed.

Overall I did like the simplicity of the story and that it was fairytale. I think children will enjoy this one.

Short and cute retelling of the famous fairy tale. Children friendly, but for my taste a bit too short. The illustrations are amazing, but it could have taken one or two more pages to invest into the relationship of Beaty and Beast. Common interests could have been pointed out more obviously. Though it's a great book for children and the colors and characters are pretty awesome!

This was a letdown. I’d assumed the book would be longer than it actually was, and maybe that’s on me. But the characters had no personalities, the mc was an absolute Mary Sue, and even for a kids book this was too insta-lovey. The art style was actually pretty nice, though.

Although I am aware that this is a children's book, I still believe it could have used more character development and a more thought-out plot. Everything happens very quickly. Beauty is sent to the castle because her father tries to steal something, she is afraid of the beast, then she is friends with the beast, she goes home, realizes she loves the beast and goes back to his castle where he has turned human. There is no other development. The only saving grace is that Beauty and her family are depicted as people of color which I thoroughly appreciated.
