This book could have been really interesting, but I didn't find a single character likable and the ending was a bit of a let down honestly.

Lesley Kara's thriller "Who Did You Tell?" intertwines a recovering alcoholic's journey with gripping suspense. Astrid, seeking sobriety in a quiet town, faces her past while haunted by a menacing figure aware of her darkest secrets. Kara's portrayal of Astrid's struggle is authentic, adding depth to the suspenseful plot. Although some twists are predictable, the novel's emotional core and tension keep it engaging. An excellent blend of psychological insight and mystery, it's a compelling read for those who appreciate thrillers with depth.

Astrid, freshly out of a stint at rehab, moves in with her mother. She lives in a sleepy town much different than her way of life in London. While trying to focus on her recovery in AA, she starts receiving menacing notes and constantly feels like she is being watched. This makes it hard to trust anyone.

I didn’t know what to expect with this one, but ended up enjoying!

I received an ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review

I wasn’t sure I was going to finish this book as I kept losing interest until about halfway through. It was a bit slow for me until then, but the last part went by very quickly. I didn’t like the main character which was most of the issue I had with this, but it came together nicely at the end.

Thank you Netgalley for this ARC of Who Did You Tell? by Lesley Kara.

Astrid is a recovering alcoholic, living with her mother and attending meetings, doing everything she can to hang on to her sobriety. Astrid also sees Simon everywhere she goes, Simon is gone from her life, but definitely not from her head. She carries so much guilt about things that happened with Simon while she was drinking. But her torment is made so much worse when receiving a note. Someone knows about what she did, and now she's terrified that she'll never really get to escape her past life.

This is a quiet, chilly, and dark read. It took me a bit of work to get through it, but eventually I was invested. Stories involving addiction have a whole hazy atmosphere because of the fractured memories of the characters. The author did a good job setting that stage and creating a sad yet redeeming story.

I feel good about three stars. I liked it, I didn't love it.

The main character, Astrid, has come back home to live with her mom after time spent in a recovery program for alcoholics. The relationship between mom and daughter is very strained mostly because Astrid feels she may be partially to blame for her father's death. Besides dealing with the stressors and cravings of an alcoholic addiction, Astrid also has a dark secret that haunts her but that she also cannot remember in full detail. She meets a young man, Josh, and they feel an instant attraction to each other. As Astrid attempts to juggle this relationship, AA meetings, attempts to move forward with her life, she finds herself to be a target of someone's desire to harm her, and she knows that it is related to her dark secret. This was a decent thriller and I will definitely read more by Lesley Kara!

I’m beginning to think this author is a good choice for a mindless summery type of thriller. It was entertaining and twisty and kept me engaged, perfect for an escape.

This is a great book. I’ll tell you now, because it’s a fantastic read, especially if you are like me and into psychological thrillers. I could write a lengthy and wordy review but if what I have written can say what I thought of this book then it’s long enough!

Astrid is a recovering alcoholic who has moved in with her mother and is newly out of rehab. She is working on sobriety daily and doesn't have the funds or opportunity to be independent. She then has a dark secret that someone else knows and is using against her. Will she remain sober? Will her life get back on track? How will she uncover who is threatening to reveal her secrets?
There are many difficult issues regarding addiction, especially alcoholism in this book and the unreliable characters surrounding it. Slow story that was okay for me. This reminded me of other books set in the UK about similar issues, so nothing fresh about it to me.
If you like stories about addiction and sobriety as well as the secrets those suffering from this might carry, then this is for you.

Awesome story! An excellent book by Lesley Kara. Astrid is a recovering alcoholic who flees to her mothers small England town, after alcoholism takes everything from her. She ends up meeting friends at AA, but can she trust them? Intriguing story. Loved the characters.
