Tagline: There are two sides to every story: yours and mine, ours and theirs, His & Hers. Which means someone is always lying.

Omg now this a thriller! Alice Feeney does it again! If this one isn’t on your radar, put it on your TBR now. I guarantee you will thank me, and there is no way you are going to guess this one!

I loved Sometimes I Lie ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ and I Know Who You Are ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ so His & Hers ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫was naturally one of my most anticipated reads of 2020.

This one did not disappoint, and is easily one of my favorites of the year! Alice Feeney has a wonderful way with words, and I love how magnificently her dual storylines connect. This one will keep you on the edge of your seat and gasping throughout. This is how all psychological thrillers should be. Tons of reveals, tons of action, and very unpredictable.

Animal lovers, I am warning you there is some animal cruelty in this one so unfortunately I couldn’t give it a perfect rating, but other then that this is definitely a 5 star read.

I would recommend this one to thriller lovers, Alice Feeney fans, and those looking for an action packed unpredictable thriller.

This one comes out July 28! Preorder it now and thank me later.

Many thanks to @netgalley and @flatiron_books for letting me read this amazing story.

Wow, what a twisted journey that turned out to be! Told from three (?) viewpoints, this amazingly well-constructed psychological thriller does not let up the suspense for a second, and the ending took my breath away. My hat is off to anyone who reads this and guesses the killer as it was a complete surprise, and unlike Feeney's first book, SOMETIMES I LIFE, this left no doubt as to the outcome. Definitely one of the best domestic suspense novels I've read in a long time.

Note: If you're getting "psychological suspense fatigue" (yes, it's a real thing), read this anyway.

Another Note: Read this with caution (or not at all) if the small element animal cruelty in the plot is a trigger.

Twists on twists on twists! I love a book that keeps me guessing, and this one certainly does that. I thought I had it figured out, only to change my mind several times. But in the end all of my guesses were wrong! Well done Ms. Feeney! I will say that many of the characters in this book are unsympathetic, and some pretty horrific things happen, which may not be every reader's cup of tea. But those in search of a suspenseful, can't-put-it-down thriller should be well-satisfied.

This is a great British mystery, exactly what I needed to engross me during these difficult days. The story is narrated by 3 people, Anna, Jack and the murderer. Though we are never sure who the murderer is, suspicion is widely cast on all the characters which kept me totally involved.

A very interesting mystery which I highly recommend.

Thank you Netgalley for this really great read. Bravo.

I intentionally skipped over other books on my Kindle because I was in need of a good read, and I knew Alice Feeney wouldn’t disappoint!

As with Agatha Christie’s “ And Then There Were None, someone seems to be picking off women who have a connection - one that several people in the small village have started to figure out. The question is, who’s next?

While none of the characters was particularly likable, it was fun trying to guess whose secret was worse than the others! Suspend your disbelief and you’ll find this a fast paced suspense full of twists and turns!

This novel is just s.o. i.n.s.a.n.e.l.y. t.w.i.s.t.e.d. I stayed up all night reading it. It gave me chills and thrills and a total shock at the reveal. Best thriller of the year.

The title "His & Hers" is a dark twist on the cute lovey-dovey inscriptions, but in this case, those are the points of view in a dark murder mystery in which... he & she are actually involved in the case.

First, we have Anna Andrews: a **very** ambitious career woman, a divorcee with lots of drama and an alcohol and food addict. Anna is flawed, but also very likable. She sacrificed everything to climb the ladder to get her dream job as a BBC reporter, but when the woman who has this job before returns, Anna's position becomes less than secure. So, she is compelled to take a risky murder investigation in a town she grew up in... and buried some secrets.

Second, we meet Jack Harper: another ambitious character with domestic life drama and a tendency to ruin everything in his love life. Jack is the investigator in the same murder case, except... he knows the victim. Intimately. He was actually having sex with her earlier that night. It would be smart to leave his case but... he can't.

And finally, the third point of view is the killer's. Sounds like an easy way to give away the mystery, but Feeney did a great job keeping the killer's anonymity till the end.

This book is a bit of a slow burn but it’s all consuming. The more it simmers the better it gets. Just when you think you’ve figured something out it hits you smack in the face with an alternate truth! I loved that about this book. There are many logical explanations for situations but as a reader one always picks the one that seems to fit the narrative, the easiest one or predictable one, but with this book, that just makes you wrong. Repeatedly you will be reminded of how you need to broaden your analysis, and how you must remove your blinders, but the writing style makes that hard. And that is the brilliance of this book. I’m not going to cite examples because I don’t want to ruin a single moment of surprise you get with this book. It’s full of twists, and keeps you on the edge.
As the title suggests you have 2 perspectives being narrated: His and Hers, but then you also have another narration in chapters titled His as well as in chapters titled Hers. You keep trying to figure out who that narrator is and that keeps you on your toes. So many motives and so many suspects. There are many theories you may build around who this third narrator is but it’s highly likely you won’t be right!! The narrations of Anna are sprinkled with flashbacks and those are very interesting to read as they shed more and more light on the plot.
This book is to the mind what Pop Rocks are to the mouth! Read it.

Alice Feeney is back - and dare I say, better than ever? His & Hers is a book that you honestly need to know zero about, dive in and enjoy the ride. It will take you to some crazy places. You'll be guessing, you'll be theorizing and if you are like me, you'll probably be having heart palpitations - and you probably still won't guess what's actually happening. His & Hers drops on July 28th and this will be the thriller is everyone is talking about this summer - don't miss out.

I have loved Alice Feeney’s writing since her debut novel. His & Hers is reminiscent of that book, Sometimes I Lie. When I finished it, I wanted to go back and read it again knowing everything I know at the end. It kept me intrigued from the very first page and as usual, I love her writing! I highly recommend His & Hers! Definite 5 stars from me!!!

Huge thank you to Flariron Books and NetGalley for allowing me the privilege of reading His & Hers in advance for my honest review.

There are three sides to every story... his, hers, and the truth.
His & Hers is about a twisty homicide investigation told from the POVs of a divorced couple- who both may just happen to have a connection to the victims. This was a fast-paced thriller that I could not put down! The ending really shocked me- I totally did not see the reveal coming! Would definitely recommend this one!

Wow--what a field of landmines HIS & HERS is! Wonderfully crafted dueling narratives lead the reader down a twisty, deceptive and constantly surprising path to an ending most won't see coming. Alice Feeney is a master of suspense and this novel should rank with the best of the year's stay-up-past-dawn reads.

Wow, another good twisted thriller from Alice Feeney! It started a bit slow, but once it picked up I was hooked. Not as good for me as Sometimes I Lie, but still a stand-out read. Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Thanks to @netgalley and @flatiron_books for the ARC. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 🤯🤯 My favorite suspense thriller so far this year. His & Hers is Alice Feeney’s best book yet and the first mystery in a while to actually surprise me. I love unreliable narrators and this one definitely had that. I read about 90% of it in a day because I refused to go to sleep until I figured out which one of my 500 theories was correct (....yeah none of them were correct). If you loved The Wives by Tarryn Fisher or The Stranger Inside by Lisa Unger, definitely pick this one up when it comes out on 7/28/20!
.

There are two sides to every story: yours and mine, ours and theirs, His & Hers. Which means someone is always lying.
.
When a woman is murdered in Blackdown, a quintessentially British village, newsreader Anna Andrews is reluctant to cover the case. Detective Jack Harper is suspicious of her involvement, until he becomes a suspect in his own murder investigation.
.
Someone isn’t telling the truth, and some secrets are worth killing to keep.
.
His & Hers is a twisty, smart, psychological thriller. A gripping tale of suspense, told by expertly-drawn narrators that will keep readers guessing until the very end.

This book was like peeling an onion--layer upon layer upon layer. It starts out with two people and then probed deeper and deeper into their lives bringing more people into the story until it is like random atoms moving around and bumping into each other and then zinging into another. The reader thinks he/she has the murderer figured out and then the hypothesis is wrong. And then you think everything is done, the story is done the happy ending is reached, but no, there is one more corner to turn and OMG--not what I thought! A really quick read, because the book cannot be put down.

His & Hers by Alice Feeney, follows Her: Anna Andrews, a news correspondent, and Him: Jack Harper, a detective, in alternating points of view each chapter. When a beautiful, young woman comes up dead, Jack Harper investigates the murder and realizes that it is Rachel, the woman with whom he's been having an affair. Anna must return back to her hometown where she covers the story for work and learns that it one of her childhood friends. This is where the two characters' story lines collide. Interspersed throughout the two narratives is a third: that of Rachel's killer.

Feeney's writing style is superb. This is the first book I've read from her and it certainly won't be the last. I could tell right away that she is a skillful writer, one that pays special attention to tone and sentence structure, which did not go unnoticed or unappreciated as I read. I especially liked her descriptions both of the characters and the situations, which really created a depth I don't often see in most thrillers.

The plot takes carefully crafted twists and turns as Feeney artfully reveals clues one by one that leads the characters towards discovering the killer. All the characters are in question as we learn more and more about their sordid pasts which intertwines seamlessly in with the present. And the ending - WOW - I did not see that coming!

This book is so well written and suspenseful, I could not put it down once it really picked up the pace. A definite must read! Do not pass this one up!

His & Hers is another twisty thriller by Alice Feeney. It had a bit of a slow start, but just as with her first novel, Sometimes I Lie, the twists and turns kept coming right up until the end.

This book has a 4.3 star rating on Goodreads and I am wondering what the heck people read that I didn't. I have enjoyed Alice Feeney books in the past. She definitely goes for shock value, but in previous novels I felt it worked. Unfortunately, the shock factor didn't work for me at ALL in this book.

As usual, she does a good job with a nicely paced mystery that pulls you in and keeps you guessing. I liked the overall reveal, although I did figure it out, and have zero issue with the murderer's identity - well done.

My issue was with the killer's motivation, and in turn, the subplots. They are meant to shock, but I found them preposterous to the point of being silly and ridiculous. Totally unbelievable. As I relayed them out loud to a fellow reader, he simply started laughing. Exactly.

I think this author is better than this. I'm giving it two stars for the nicely paced plot and the overall killer reveal. Thank you NetGalley for an honest review in exchange for an ARC.

There are three sides of stories: His, hers and truth! A TV presenter of BBC ‘s lunchtime news and a chief police officer/let’s rephrase as “DCI” find themselves tangled with brutal murders of women who shared a common past, graduated from same high school, living their different lives in Blackwood. A friendship bracelet positioned with their corpses.

What are the connections of these two persons with the victims?

DCI Jack Harper was with the first victim at the night of her murder, having sex with her. There are so many clues point at him including his 10 sized shoes and the cell phone of the victim he carries with him. Was he framed or did he involve with her death?

What about Anna Andrews, who suffers from her baby’s sudden death two years ago and loneliness, alcoholism after her divorce. Now she loses her dream job because an ambitious reporter comes back from her maternal leave and takes her seat. She was all these victims’ school friend and as we read to her narration about the past, we find out she doesn’t have a quite satisfying relationship with them.

And what about the new recruited police office Priya? Why she is trying so hard to please Jack? Why she is hiding things from him? Does she have a secret agenda?

Jack tells his story, Anna tells her own one and of course we also read the killer’s POV! Interestingly killer’s POV carries similar expressions with both Jack and Anna’s way of telling things. Does author confuse the hell of us by playing mind tricks? Absolutely because she is smarter than us! I imagined her laugh so hard when I was biting my nails and hitting my forehead to the wall to find out who is the murderer!

Which one tells the truth? Do we have deceitful narrators? It could be but at least the killer always tells the truth!!!

You know there are some books make you hooked up, glued to your hands and occupied your mind and soul so you barely breathe and function till you finish it. But in the meantime you wish it never finishes because you’re having so much fun and adrenaline, excitement, endorphin make you high! You want more! And you start to punch the walls because there is only one chapter left and you’re getting closer to finish it and you’re gonna love it so much and you start to compare the other books with it and you see that most of your reads turn into meaningless, boring experiences.

Yes: That’s how I felt after my reading and I’m telling you this is one of my special reads of this year. I know I gave nearly 10 thrillers to 5 stars but if I give this book 6 stars to differentiate it from my other reads I couldn’t think a second to do it!

I’m not giving more clues to ruin your read! Last time I gave big spoilers to my buddyreaders and I found it somebody stole some of my unique Chardonnay bottles and replace them with apple cider! I don’t know how to manage to do that in quarantine but I don’t want to risk anything! I need my booze and more books at these horrible days.

I’m just sending my witchy powers to you for getting your ARC copies but if you don’t get, please pre-order online or connect with your local library or befriend Amazon Prime crew, do whatever it takes to read this sooner! It’s absolutely worth it!

I already read three of Alice Feeney’s three books. And so far this is my favorite novel of hers!

Special thanks to NetGalley and Flatiron Books for sharing one of the best ARCS I’ve ever read this year in exchange my honest review!

His & Hers started our with an interesting premise, but it ultimately left me confused and frustrated. His & Hers follows the perspectives of a man and a woman. When a woman is murdered in a small British village, Anna Andrews, a reporter, is hesitant in covering the story. Detective Jack Harper is suspicious of Anna being involved, but there is a web of secrets that must be uncovered to get to the bottom of this murder.

I loved the narratives and how it alternated between Jack and Anna's perspectives. The voices are unique and well-written. I loved jumping back and forth between the two. The overall story is unpredictable and keeps you guessing right up until the end. I wasn't able to guess the ending of this story, and that was both a good and bad thing. Good in that it wasn't predictable. Bad in that the ending seemingly comes out of left field. It's explained well enough, it just took me a little convincing before I was like "okay, I guess this could happen."

"Sometimes I find the only way to ease the worst forms of pain is to damage myself in a different way. Distract my attention from the things that can and will break me. A little hurt to help me heal."

Eh, this could have been good, but this author's writing doesn't work for me.

What I liked:
Short chapters that alternated viewpoints between the two main characters.

What I didn't like:
Each chapter ended with a cliffhanger and there were so many clichés!
Infidelity, domestic abuse, a dead baby and a divorced couple still having feelings for eachother. 🙄

Read this if you love unreliable narrators and want a mystery with a hint of thriller and suspense.
