This was the first Alice Feeney book I’ve read and to say I was pleasantly surprised is an understatement! I thought I had it all figured out but the very last twist really shook me. I highly recommend this to anyone who loves thrillers.

I had so many theories while reading this one and none of them penned out until the big reveal! That my friends is how ALL mystery and thriller books should be! Alice Feeny has a gift when it comes to this genre of books and I am always anxious for the next one! I highly recommend His & Hers!

Standard mystery with not-so-likeable characters and average plot. Mystery loving patrons will check out title but not sure it will attract new readers to this author!

Ever since I've been stuck at home, I've been picking up a lot of thrillers. While I have read some good ones lately, this one definitely stood out to me! The story alternates between Anna and Jack's point of view, and they both are intertwined in the story of the murder. I liked getting both of their perspectives. The writing was great, and their alternating points of view kept a fast pace for the story and made for a good timeline of events.. There are some passages written from the perspective of the murderer. Those passages were very well done and kept me guessing until the very end. I try to guess the ending of thrillers, and I was quite wrong this time which I loved! All of the twists fit together so well in the end. It was an excellent thriller, and may very well be my favorite this year!

If you are a fan of thrillers, I would highly recommend picking this up as soon as you can!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for my review copy.

This is such a good read and perfect for “ stay at home “ times. It was a little slow getting into but don’t stop, you will miss a book that is twisty, keep you guessing story. I hope there will be more Harper/ Andrews books.

I was hugely let down by the author's previous book but I was definitely a fan of her first, and this one feels like a return to the style of her first book so I loved it.

Feeney keeps you on the edge of your seat till the very end. Just when I thought I figured everything out the plot twists and turns.
His & Hers is full of suspense, thrill, dark subjects and intense characters. Anna and Jack are the two main characters, Anna had the job of her dreams in London when she gets bumped and put on a story in Blacktown. Blacktown isn’t unfamiliar to Anna, she grew up there and the memories of her childhood haunt her. DCI Jack Harper, who is living in Blacktown, also haunted by his past, becomes entangled in a series of murders that Anna is covering... but how are they both subjects, are they involved?
His & Hers was captivating, it was hard to not keep reading every night. Some of the memories of their past are hard and uncomfortable but tie the suspense together perfectly right till the very end when you realize... I never saw that coming!

The good: The twists, turns, and red herrings in this novel are all absolutely on point. There were several scenes that left me feeling smug, sure I had outsmarted the author, but she put me in my place every time. In my mind, that's the mark of a good thriller or mystery. While there were plenty of characters in the book to throw you off course, all of them were fully formed and crucial to the plot.

The bad: In crime fiction, I've had enough of being reminded page after page about a narrator's addiction (so you're not sure if they're reliable) and how heavily a detective relies on a specific vice (to help them stomach the darker side of their work). This book beats you in the head with both of those things.

Trigger warnings for rape, domestic abuse, and cruelty toward animals.

There's always something captivating about Feeney's writing and her complicated characters- it worked wonderfully in Sometimes I Lie, and was all together too disturbing for me in I Know Who You Are. But this book, while full of plenty of disturbing materials feels more satisfying than the previous.

It's clear from the get-go that neither Anna nor Jack can be considered reliable narrators, and the title may be the least reliable of all, as it's really the whole cast of characters that make the twists and turns of deception possible. Apparently no one in this small town is who they seem, and the women in the center of the story all have backstories that are shocking.

I guessed the identity of the italicized narrator about halfway through the book after a specific detail, but Feeney still had doubting my guess until the end. There is some satisfaction to the ending, but not there are still questions of what everyone deserved.

🚹His & Hers🚺

Thank you to @netgalley and @flatironbooks for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This book is told from two perspectives, a male and a female character. It is a mystery/thriller and if you’ve read any other book by Alice Feeney, you’ll recognize her brilliant way of weaving an unpredictable story. It’s difficult to review a book like this without giving anything away. I’ll just say that twice I thought I had things figured out only to be completely surprised at the end. Each character is intricately developed and soon the reader is caught in a web of lies and it’s impossible to know who is telling the truth. This will be a fast read because putting this book down is a hard thing to do-after each chapter I was desperate for the next clue.

3.75/5 ⭐️

5 HUGE stars!!!! His & Hers is a brilliantly written psychological thriller that I found absolutely unputdownable!! Alice Feeney is a master at crafting addictive storylines that will stump you at every turn. There are so many unforeseen twists that will most definitely keep you on the edge or your seat until the very last page! Having read Alice Feeney’s prior 2 novels, I knew I was in for one heck of a ride, but I’m still in awe of what a phenomenal storyteller she is!! I highly recommend this 5 star novel and if you haven’t gotten a chance to read Alice Feeney’s first two books- you have to check them out too!!

His and Hers is a psycological thriller that leaves you breathless at the end. It is the story of Anna Andrews and her ex husband DCI Jack Harper. Anna has finally achieved her professional goal. She has become the lead presenter on BBC's lunchtime news. Just when she thinks finally I've made it someone comes in and takes it all back . Jack Harper moved from London back to Blackdown. Here he is hoping for quiet and peace, Jack is hoping to recover from the lose of his marriage as well as what tore it apart.
A murder in Blackdown brings Jack and Anna and sins from the past crashing back together. They both know the victim and both seem to have a motive. Who is the murderer? Could Jack or Anna be capable? Is someone else just playing with them? Alternating points of views between Jack and Anna allows theis mystery to unravel with many twists and turns.
I enjoyed the fluidity of the writing. Each alternating view flowed so that a I could get a clear picture of who is the murderer. Or so I thought...…..Every time I thought I had it figured out a new fact would come to light and I would have to rethink my conclusions.
Fast paced with twists and turns

I enjoyed Feeney's "Sometime's I Lie" a lot, but was disappointed in her second book. I am happy to report that she has returned to form in "His and Hers", a thriller set in alternating POV's where you won't figure out "who done it" until the very end! Extremely clever, this book is a tale of a divorced couple, who lost a child, and are now in the midst of a series of serial killings in a sleepy English village. Highly recommend! I received a free ebook in exchange for my honest opinion from Net Galley & the publisher.

I'm a huge fan of Alice Feeney so was excited to get this one! And wowie! Five girlfriends in high school...one a master manipulator...the others wanting to be popular. Now they are all adults and "know" each other or are in proximity of each other but have their own lives (and secrets). And when one is discovered brutally murdered we also discover his ex-wife is one of the group. What could possibly go wrong??? Just when you think the plot couldn't thicken any more, it becomes a mudslide that leads to quicksand! So be prepared to be sucked in like nothing you've ever read. It's dark, gritty, and the alternating points of view will have your head spinning. But it's SO worth it! I devoured it like Feeney's others. Whew!

I liked the premise of this novel, but had a hard time getting into it. By the time I was nearly halfway through, I didn’t feel a connection to any of the characters and found the plot to be very slow. I didn’t dislike this book, I just didn’t enjoy it in the way I expected to. If you’re a fan of this author, my guess is you’ll love this. It was my first from her and I just think I didn’t click with the writing style.

What the actual heck did I just read!?!?! What the heck happened?!?! I cannot even...please someone read this so we can discuss. I need to work through my feelings!! Oh Alice Feeney...you can write a story!
This one left me guessing all the way to the bitter end. I thought I had an idea of what was going on...I had no idea what was going on.
Anna Andrews has a past she put behind her so she could focus on her future, which, just took a turn. DCI Jack Harper also has a past...and today, it also took a turn. Slowly through alternating narrators (hence His & Hers) and a third POV (maybe? maybe not? is it?) we see the whole story of the past and murder mystery Anna and Jack are now deeply involved in.

Bottom Line: TWISTY...a bit slower to get going (in my opinion) but then HOLD ON!!!
Quote I hope makes it into the final because it's just too good: People get preoccupied with the fiction of truth.
Second quote I hope makes it in the final: I can feel myself falling in hate. It’s a lot like falling in love, but tends to happen harder and faster and often lasts a lot longer, too.

Before all this madness we’re experiencing began I devoured this one on vacation and it was 🔥🔥🔥 It’s twisty, fast and had me guessing, and then second guessing the whole time. I like to think I’m pretty clever and am usually able to tell which direction a thriller is heading and I was dead wrong here several times. Preorder it now and thank me later. 😜 But in the meantime if you’re looking for a fantastic thriller try one of her other two books. Both Sometimes I Lie and I Know Who You Are were also five star reads for me!

Dark, deeply intense and often times tragic, Alice Feeney has done it again. I’m SO happy I was approved for this! I absolutely loved Alice Feeney’s His & Hers: Feeney is an automatic buy.

Welp. Alice Feeney's first book, Sometimes I Lie, delighted and unsettled me. I wasn't quite sure what to think. His & Hers is MUCH more clear cut. I bloody loved it.

His & Hers plays on some well-trod tropes but does them brilliantly. Dual-POVs, somewhat unreliable. POV chapters from the killer that hint at someone being both crazy and a liar. Boarding school + small town secrets. Serial murders. The alcoholic driven woman and the hardened cop who always seems to make the wrong choice. Lots of characters who are a little unlikeable, where you're unsure who you're even rooting for.

It was tropey and soapy and great. I had fun both trying to guess at things and just letting myself be pulled along by the story. A few twists surprised me; a big one I called and of course I feel BRILLIANT for doing so haha. I know Feeney's first book is already heading to television, but god I really want to see THIS one make it. It would be a perfect sleepy/creepy British crime limited series.

2020 may be on fire but it's going to be a GREAT year for adult thrillers. (Good b/c we can't leave our homes?)

Words cannot do this piece justice. Alice Feeney has threw down the gauntlet and should rightfully take her place at the top. The entire narrative captures the essence of what every suspense novel should elicit in a reader. It is thought provoking, eluding, bizarre, and downright disturbing. You’ll think you know what is happening but by the end you’ll need a hug! L o v e d i t!

Thank you to #Netgalley for the ARC of #His&Hers which was read and reviewed voluntarily.
