This was such a fun Historical Fiction read!

The Invention of Sophie Carter is about orphaned twin sisters Sophie and Mariah. Determined to make a living as an inventor and no longer need to rely on others for charity, Sophie asks her estranged aunt if she can stay with her so she can attend the Great Exhibition. Her aunt agrees, but only to have Sophie as a guest. And only so Sophie can find a husband.

But Sophie is not going to leave her sister behind. Instead she comes up with a plan. Both sisters will go, and while Mariah pretends to be Sophie at her aunt's house, Sophie will attend the Great Exhibition and try to find an apprenticeship.

The characters had great development, the setting was fantastic (Victorian England!), and the plot was enjoyable.

Fans of Shadow Mountain's Proper Romance series are sure to enjoy this book!

I am really surprised how much I liked The Invention of Sophie Carter. This is not the typical book I would read but I have to admit I was hooked from the first chapter. I loved Sophie I thought she was a great character and the complete opposite how her twin Mariah, Mariah was one of those girls you can't help but love. I am also one of those crazy girls who will cry when a character dies in a book. Lets not forget the men in their lives Ethan and Charles these two found their perfect match. This was a great historical romance book and I hope others enjoy it as much as I did.

This Victorian YA romance was completely unputdownable.

Both sisters were so well developed and you couldnt help but get attached to them and to their male leads.

I had a particular soft spot for Sophie because she was the toughest and most determined of the twins, which reminded me a lot of my mother (also a twin).

The Invention of Sophie Carter is a sweet and delightful gem of a novel for young adults. I have to say that I was completely smitten with this book. A must read for Jane Austen fans, Parent Trap, or even just historical fiction readers who love a happy ending.

Faced with the prospect of only one of them having "a season" with their aunt in London, twins Sophie and Mariah devise a plan to take turns being "Sophie." As young, orphaned women in Victorian England, their prospects for creating the lives they want for themselves seem limited. Can they use their wits and creativity to find both love and independence? This fun, refreshing read will appeal to fans of Jane Austen.
