I haven’t snaughled (Laugh so hard you snort) while reading a book in such a long time. Desus and Mero have blessed us adults with a gem. This book talks about everything we think of silently, but out loud (I’m over with tears in my eyes, because I’m laughing so hard😂🤣). These guys hold nothing back, the topics are edgy but the advice is filled with heart. Drug usage, having kids and dating when you’re broke are the just a few things these guys talk about, trust me, their advance and personal experiences will have you rolling!⁣

If you are in need of a quick pick me up, then I highly recommend this book. Many thanks to Random House for this gifted copy.

I like Desus and Mero, but it took me FOREVER to read this book. Maybe it was the design (HALF IN ALL CAPS)? Or maybe their banter and fun BS works on a podcast or cable but not in a book? Maybe I'm just washed? Either way, there was some good life advice in here, but it was a chore to find it.

In this book the comedy duo of Desus & Mero give readers a whole bunch of advice. Some of that advice is pretty solid, some of it is terrible, the whole thing is hilarious. The book is on brand and the brand is strong.

I’m admittedly a huge fan of The Bodega Boys and this book reads like you’re just hanging out with them, talking shit and goofing off. It was laugh out loud funny for sure. It’s a breath of fresh air in a time where everything feels like the end of the world. The book is trivial and that is necessary.

One of the things I respect most about Desus & Mero is how smart and knowledgeable they are about so many things, without having to indicate how smart they are. They’re the smartest guys in the room but they’d never tell you that. I’m impressed by their ability to translate their brains into something funny for our consumption.

Desus and Mero NEVER disappoint. As a New Yorker, they comprise so much of my identity that I couldn't wait to start this book and thankfully it provided exactly what we've come to expect from these two. A true must-read for fans new and old.

Love me some Desus and Mero and this book did not disappoint! It was very much written in their voice (THE ALL CAPS, hahaha), I felt like we were just hanging out drinking run while they told me their stories. So great. Definitely getting this for a few people as gifts.

I had no idea what I was getting into when I picked this up and now I feel like I just went through a crash course in…something. I found myself laughing out loud so many times that I had to give a high rating since I don’t find many books that are this enjoyable.

THE BRAND IS STRONG!⁣
⁣⁣
Be still my Southside Jamaica, Queens heart! The Bodega Boys bring their hot takes, sage advice, and low-key thought provoking commentary in their book, "God-Level Knowledge Darts: Life Lessons from the Bronx".⁣⁣

First of all, shout out to the Bodega Hive! If for some reason you are not familiar with Desus Nice and The Kid Mero, I highly suggest you catch up. The Twitter OGs, late-night comedians, and podcasters are magical and Bronx as hell when they link up to discuss everything from relationships and thriving while broke to being washed and toxic masculinity (Say it with me everyone... RELATABLE CONTENT). Mero's commitment to ALL CAPS (LOL ) and Desus being the voice of reason...well I don't know if reason is the right word, but when Mero is SMACKED (LOL and also salute) it's nice to know that we aren't just left out here in these streets. Oh, and Dark Desus is hilariously morbid, but funny as hell. I think that everyone should partake. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Also, let me tell you that the personalities JUMPED off the page and the commentary is very on brand, but I expected nothing less from these two. The only thing that could have made my reading experience better would have been a chopped cheese and a quarter water, but alas I suppose we can't have it all can we. ⁣⁣

This is great- VERY Desus and Mero. I would think in order to really get their humor, you'd have to be a fan of their show. It's a super honest and very funny book- but not all for the faint of heart. I can't believe that Mero wrote his entire sections in CAPS! I appreciate the commitment to the bit, even if it did take me a minute to get used to reading. Overall, a great balance of actual wisdom, humor, and heart. I enjoyed it and plan to get a copy for my husband.

I love Desus and Mero so much. Just like in their show, they’re unapologetically themselves in every way. I loved getting to know them through their chapters. With our current racial and political climate, having these two write about their lives and how they’ve come to success adds to their humanity rather than their celebrity. Run, don’t walk to get this!

I’ll just assume whoever is visiting this book’s Goodreads page is already familiar with the comedy duo Desus & Mero, so I won’t spend time explaining either of them or their *unique communication style. I’m reading from an eARC I received pre-quarantine, so I can’t speak to the finished print copies, but Mero’s portions of the book are written ENTIRELY WITH CAPS-LOCK ON, just like his tweets. Desus uses normal syntax, but the font was actually significantly larger than the standard size. Perhaps the editor wanted their words to be more visually distinguishable? I’m not sure.

The book isn’t that long, with nine chapters plus a preface and introduction. The topics covered include things from drugs to relationships to toxic masculinity, and whatever else pops into either of their heads; there’s really no set rubric here. And if there was ever any doubt: this book is written 100% by Desus & Mero. I don’t know if I’ve ever read a nonfiction book written more thoroughly in the authors’ voices. I will say if you’ve never seen their show before, it might be a little jarring at first, but that’s all part of their charm.

The tone of God-Level Knowledge Darts is similar to a podcast, where each take turns, sometimes interrupting one another, discussing a general topic. I haven’t listened to the Bodega Boys podcast, but it feels very off the cuff. Mero is frequently high while writing (something he brings up multiple times), but that doesn’t take away from the conversation the two of them are having; it only enhances it. I kind of wish I had an audiobook copy narrated by the authors instead, but this was still an enjoyable read for me to take a break from some heavier ones.

If you’re a fan of theirs, you’ll be a fan of this book too. If you’re not, maybe check out clips from their Showtime show on YouTube and see for yourself. I’ll leave y’all with this quote from Dark Desus himself:

“So take that final breath, laugh a muffled, choking laugh, and as you pass out, let your final words be, ‘The brand is brolic.’”

If you, like me, have never listened to Desus and Mero, this entertaining book will send you to seek them out. It's a dialogue between two long time buddies who put it all on the table. While they tout that these are life lessons from the Bronx, they're applicable anywhere. I laughed out loud more than once-and I learned a bit along the way. My only quibble is the all-caps sections (I get why it's done that way but...). Thanks to Netgalley for the ARc. Pick this one up for. a fresh perspective.

Fans of Desus & Mero will find this book just as enjoyable as everything else the duo does. For those who are not aware of this duo, I’d recommend watching a video or two before starting this book. Understanding their dynamic helps catch the conversations throughout the book.

So I gotta admit, I'd heard a lot about Desus & Mero, but hadn't listened to their podcast or watched their various late night shows. Well, I'm done sleeping on these two, because this book was laugh out loud hilarious!

The book is broken into chapters on specific topics, i.e. Drugs, Sports, Kids, etc. But they use a great back and forth format so it's like they're having a conversation with each other. I read it the whole way through, but I could see this as book that someone could pick up and read starting at any chapter, which is a strength when it comes to humor books.

Highly Recommended.

I certainly didn’t think it was possible for Desus Nice and The Kid Mero to turn banter into a book. But, not only did they do it, they excelled at it. Their podcast and TV show, which work so well, flawlessly become an advice book for the ages and for any occasion.

Are you a Desus OR ARE YOU A MERO? Have you had 5,000 jobs? DID YOU ONCE FALL OUT OF A CAR WHILE ON HALLUCINOGENS? Do your aunties try to make you feel bad for not having kids? HAVE YOU EVER SOLD A GRIP OF CREST WHITE STRIPS YOU BOOSTED TO THE CORNER STORE? Are you a Carrie? ARE YOU HIGH RIGHT NOW? Do you ever get nervous?

This was truly a great book. I've seen a few of Desus and Mero shows and have always found them smart, funny, and interesting. God Level Knowledge Darts definitely didn't disappoint. It really pulled me in and held my attention throughout the book. Each chapter has the authors giving their very unique advice on handling important life situations like relationships, family, growing old to off color topics like drugs and surviving jail. I love how Desus and Mero can successfully mix pure comic silliness with real thought provoking social commentary. I can definitely say this is the first book I've ever read with this format which is kind of free form, Desus and Mero switch back and forth and even literally interrupt each other in their writing, but it works so well because it feels like a real conversation. There were several instances where I literally laughed out loud but also times where I was really moved by how insightful the authors were. Mero's statement that "romance is knowing each other and knowing how to make sacrifices to support each other when necessary," is so simple yet so brilliant. There are tons of great jokes but also real moments of insight when talking about things like rape culture (Mero's declaration that "an unsolicited dick pic is violence"), homophobia, the prison industrial complex, and poverty. They addressed hard hitting topics like food insecurity with comedic flair inside chapters with titles like "Survival of the Brokest." The concept of this book is truly original and it was very well executed. I didn't want to put the book down and got some very odd looks when I couldn't contain my laughter in public places. Overall this was a very enjoyable read and I look forward to reading more from Desus and Mero in the future.

I went into this book mostly for the cover art and not knowing much about Desus and Mero. They attempt to give advice about many things including drugs, masculinity and relationships but this book ultimately just comes off as immature.
Granted, I don’t find most humor books funny but I really wasn’t aware this was a humor book until I was a number of paragraphs in. The case changes between the two authors was also difficult on my eyes after reading for an hour is so. Using something like “Mero:” would have sufficed.
I think this book just isn’t for me, may be better for their fans.

This book was suggested to me because I enjoyed Ali Wongs books.
The first lesson I learned was, if a book (Book B) is sent to you, based on your liking another book (Book A), don't assume "Book B" will be anything like "Book A"

I caught onto this one pretty quick, and once I got over my initial "What is this" I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

I have never heard of these authors, so I really did not know what I was getting into (Hence the "What is this" feeling) After reading the first couple of pages, I assumed this would be straight nonsense, but get ready for some insight and relate-ability in almost every chapter
Enjoyable and funny,

God-Level Knowledge Darts is hilarious, witty, and makes the Bodega Hive proud. I swear Desus and Mero be wildin' with this book. Each chapter is equally unique with Desus and Mero going back and forth on their views on topics like relationships, drugs, crime, and sports. If you are a fan of the entertaining and daring duo, you must read this book.

One of my favorite things about the book is that it reads as a regular conversation between the two. They are so down to earth and ballsy. They give real advice no matter how crazy it may be.

Be prepared to read in some CAPS TEXT because Mero is all about that life.

I give God-Level Knowledge Darts 5 stars. It's comical, entertaining, fresh, all while staying true to themselves. The Bodega Hive will eat this up no doubt!
