Sal and Gabi Fix the Universe is an absolute delight! Carlos Hernandez has once again woven a captivating tale filled with humor, and heart.. The dynamic between Sal and Gabi is charming, and their adventures to fix the universe are both imaginative and thought-provoking. Hernandez's storytelling effortlessly combines science fiction with relatable themes, making it a perfect read for both young and adult audiences. The characters are endearing, the plot is engaging, and the humor is spot-on. If you're looking for a feel-good book that will transport you to a world of possibilities, "Sal and Gabi Fix the Universe" is a winner.

I have elected not to read and review this book due to time constraints. Thank you for the opportunity.

This was such an absolutely fun sequel. I love the humor in this story as well as the friendship between Sal and Gabi.

What continues to impress me with this series is the humor. There’s always heart and humor throughout, even when there are some startlingly stark moments. The two main characters are gorgeously written, and I cannot get enough of the snark between Sal and Gabi. Even though it looks like this might be just a duology,, I’m hoping for more. The representation of different mythologies and the way everything gets tied together is clever and fun. Make sure you read the first book and them come back for this!

Hard to believe it's only been about three weeks...but Sal and Gabi are off on a new mission. Sal's Papi and Gabi's Dad: The Final Frontier believe they can use the remembranation machine to fix all the holes in the universe - but a Gabi from another universe slips through to warn them that some holes must stay open (the membrane must remain permeable, like a cell). "FixGabi" wants to go too far in the other direction, however, and get rid of the membrane completely.

Meanwhile, at Culeco, parent-teacher conference night approaches, along with the "Rompenoche" performance - this year, a version of Alice in Wonderland. Unfortunately, the performance is terrible (the costumes, however, are brilliant). Can Sal and Gabi save the show and the universe? (Yes, yes they can. With plenty of humor and slang and slight-of-hand along the way. Oh, and they help their friend Yasmany too. And there's a class-9 AI toilet named Voragine. Of course.)

It took me a little while to get into this one but once I did, I really enjoyed it. Sal and Gabi are both great characters with amazing, supportive families.

I appreciated the diabetes rep in this book as a diabetic myself. It was nice to see true representation. In the past I’ve come across books that just use diabetes as the punch line of a joke when this disease is anything but funny.

I knew I needed to read the second in this humorous series! Hernandez blends humor and fantasy so seamlessly. Even though I enjoyed the first one more so, I think readers will be elated to jump back into this world of great characters and see how Sal and Gabi fix the universe after reading the catastrophe in the first book.

The first book in this series was not my favorite but I finished it, and it was well-done and easy to follow. I'm certain it found an audience. This second title was . . . confusing? Totally hard to follow, especially if you hadn't JUST finished the first book. Additionally some of it felt silly for the sake of being silly rather than an earned silly or an in-universe silliness, if that makes sense.

Very much enjoyed book 2 in this series. I am adding it to our media center collection and will talk it up to our middle grade students.

If you enjoyed Sal & Gabi Break the Universe, you will be sure to love this sequel. Sal & Gabi Fix the Universe is just as clever, entertaining, and endearing as its predecessor and ties together so many fascinating plots into an exciting adventure that celebrates Cuban culture and people.

I am so sorry that I cannot do a review. I read this book for consideration for the Schneider Award. While I am allowed to give starred reviews, I cannot give analysis reviews. But thank you for allowing me the chance to read it!

I'm really enjoying the Sal and Gabi books as an outlier in the Rick Riordan Presents world—while still pretty fantastical, they're more about sci-fi concepts than folklore, and they're a lot of fun! Of course, they're also really wacky, a bit surreal, and maybe a little hard to follow for the intended age group.

I would need all the stars from all the multiverses to properly rate this book: we reference it daily. Immersive, hilarious, complex, heartwarming and heartbreaking in turn. Hernandez brings us further into Sal & Gabi's world in book 2 and makes us never want to leave. My kids are 10 and 13 and they both loved it. We've now purchased 5 copies of these books as gifts and for our kids' school libraries. I listened to the audiobook of the first book on my work commute and it made 40 horrible minutes fly hilariously by.

This series has easily become one of our top-referred in the library. I always have to place holds on the titles because they’re so popular, they’re always checked out. My coworker and I especially loved the baby empanada onesie and would absolutely love to have adult-sized empanada onesies.

Sal and Gabi Fix the Universe is a rare case of book 2 being way better than book 1 (and I loved book 1!). Though it may be over now, I certainly hope Hernandez writes more in the Sal and Gabi Universe because I need more adventures! Like maybe a Sisterverse spin-off? Pretty please? Or a series of short stories? Including our beloved toilet/sweeper A.I. couple? So much humor and fun and I can not suggest this series enough!

This series is so fun & engaging for middle school teenagers and late tweeners. Hernandez gets these readers and makes them laugh out loud! His books are super fun to read with lots of cliff-hanging endings to chapters and it’s hard to quit for the evening. We are huge fans of Sal and Gabi at our house!

My guy thought the 2nd one was as fun as the first.

An excellent new installment to Hernandez's fantastic series. I can't wait to see what Sal and Gabi do next!

In this sequel, Sal and Gabi must work to save the world from total calamity. Sal has been creating wormholes that have been eroding the fabric of the universe, at least according to his calamity physicist father. They have been working together to try and repair them when they discover that there is a rogue Gabi from one of the alternate universes wreaking havoc on their world in response to the destruction of her own. There is the same wacky humor, well-developed Latinx characters, and excellent world-building as in the first novel. However, this sequel seems a little overfilled with too many threads happening, which can make it feel a little overwhelming and the science is hard to follow. Not as stellar as the first one, but will still purchase because the first one is incredibly popular in my library.

I was so looking forward to this, and it absolutely didn't disappoint. A wonderful sequel and a must-have for any elementary classroom library!

I think my students will like this science fiction book but I had a hard time following it. Maybe if I had read the first book, I would have enjoyed this one more.
