Second chance romance for Billy and Taryn.
Billy and Taryn met at a rodeo while they were both competing and they decided to see each other except both are in Motorcycle racing circuit. They were often in competitions and opposite continent. They heavily relied on daily phone calls until Taryn couldn't handle anymore. She wanted him but he is worlds away when she wanted him next to her and ready to give up when she couldn't handle being apart from her so she wanted to break up and she hangs up on him. Next thing she knows is that he shows up. Everything seems okay until didn't.
Billy came back from winning except Taryn didn't want him and break up. Billy can't live a life without Taryn and he is determined to win her over but it won't be easy.
Story weaves present and past and try to figure out why they had to break up. It takes awhile to explain but it's not what I thought it would be. Taryn's temperament was erratic as her sport and their secret behind their break up took bit longer than I expected. Now I have to find out what happened to her best friend and Billy's brother.
Thanks to Netgalley and Sourcebook Casablanca for ARC.

Welcome to the curious case of Fearless by Katie Golding... At first glance, it should have two things going against it. One it's written in first person. And two, it has a lot of flashbacks. Both are elements I normally don't like in books. But holy crap, it worked like a damn charm in Fearless. I have never enjoyed flashback scenes as much as I did in this book. I was actually looking forward to them just as much as present day, which is a good thing because it switches every other chapter. Both tell the full story of Billy and Taryn's relationship: the good, the bad, and the ugly. It shows how their relationship blossomed and how it crumbled from one mistake. Through all of that, readers watch as they attempt to rebuild trust in hopes of having a future together. I know it sounds like a lot, but trust me, it works in this book. As for the first person perspective, it still wasn't a favorite, but again it just works.

There was one element of Fearless that confused me for most of the book. I never knew how much time had past from their break-up to events in the present day. Sometimes it felt like events in a flashback scene happens a couple years prior and sometimes it felt like it was a month or two. I wouldn't say it took something away from the story, I just wish it had been said how much time had passed.

Overall, I enjoyed the hell out of Fearless. The characters were great. The writing was fun. Just a fantastic romance from start to finish.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for providing an advanced copy of “Fearless” by Katie Golding. Thoughts and opinions are my own.

This was a second chance romance story with a really unique setting. Combining motoracing and bull riding I felt like the author had a unique concept that was unfamiliar to me but didn’t feel inaccessible.

The story is told in dual perspective with the two main leads of Taryn and Billy. Taryn’s POV chapters largely take place in the past while Billy’s stick to the present until the two catch up with one another. Time jumps are such a personal preference and sometimes they work for me and sometimes not. I did feel a bit disoriented at the beginning of each chapter as I had to remind myself what had happened earlier.

The initial timeline of the relationship felt rushed to me. Overall, Taryn and Billy’s relationship seemed pretty toxic both with each other and with their families.

My main issue with this book was Taryn. I really did not care for her. She gave me whiplash with her constant attitude shifts. There’s also instances of another driver harassing Taryn and she hauls off and punches the photographer taking pictures rather than the guy who has been harassing her. And then she gets a promotion? It didn’t feel like the girl power moment I think it was meant to be.

Speaking of girl power there’s another uncomfortable scene where another female racer gives Taryn grief about posing too sexy and using her body to advance her career. Again another scene that rubbed me the wrong way especially coming from another female racer who should know better being in the same industry.

While the setting of this story was unique, I struggled to relate to the characters (especially their rich people problems which is just a personal pet peeve of mine). I might pick up the next book in the series since it will be following a different couple, but hopefully it won’t be told in dual timelines again.

3/5 stars

The blurb for this does not accurately reflect what this book is about. The story opens with a couple, Billy and Taryn, who are broken up. The story is told in alternating POVs- Billy (present) and Taryn (past) and the story slowly unfolds as to why they broke up and how Billy is making amends.

I really liked this book but I will admit that it took a few chapters for me to really get into it. Billy and Taryn are both motorcycle racers so that was a new world for me. Billy is/was also a bull rider so there were a few things happening there that had me a little confused.

The basics of this story is two people who love each other deeply and need to make amends for hurts and find their way back to each other.

There is a scene where Billy and Taryn go to church for Christmas eve service and it just really struck me as so heartfelt. I have a complicated relationship with religion and church but Christmas eve service has always been one of my favorites. The music is the best and it has always felt restorative to me. And it felt like it was for Billy and Taryn as well. It gave me all the feelings.

I was very invested in Taryn and Billy forgiving each other and recommitting to their love and I was rewarded. This book was not perfect but I think if you are willing to give it a try you will enjoy it. I am excited to read future books by Golding.

Fearless (Moto Grand Prix #1). By Katie Golding. 2020. Sourcebooks Casablanca (ARC eBook).

Looking for a steamy second-chance romance? Here’s your fix, because sparks sure do fly between Billy King, a cowboy-turned-Moto Grand Prix racer and Taryn Ledell, a cowgirl-turned World Superbike racer.

I was really entertained with Fearless’ fusion of the worlds of racing and rodeoing. And Golding’s alternating timeline between past and present was refreshing and well-paced. I adored Billy, especially when he shared the page with his endearing best bud, Gidget the horse. Taryn’s expectations and reactions were quite explosive at times that I’d fall out of like with her, but the characters and their romance are emotional and complex; and overall, it was easy to root for these two. I look forward to reading another book by Golding.

The ‘Moto Grand Prix‘ series gets off to a strong start with Billy and Taryn’s romance in ‘Fearless‘. Although this is a second chance romance in so many ways, through the use of flashback chapters and the present POV being Billy’s, and the past POV being Taryn’s until they meet up again we’ll get an overview of how they met and the challenges they’ve faced so far. And there are challenges from outsiders, from giving too much to others and not to the one you’re supposed to love, and from interference from situations beyond their control. Theirs is not the easiest of romances, and there are plenty of potholes on the road to their happy ever after – but it is so worth the trip.

I liked Billy, he’s not an alpha male but just an everyday guy who loves bull riding, motorcycle racing, and his girl. The trouble is that Billy cannot say no to someone who needs something from him – especially his brother (who I wanted to Gibbs smack often). He’s injured right now, needing to hide that fact from the press so he’s returning home to recoup and win his girl back before she leaves forever… none of that is going to be easy.

Taryn is a ‘take names and kick butt’ kind of woman, and I adored her attitude (for the most part). She has the right to be number one in her man’s life – but we all know that isn’t always possible and so often her reasons and her need to always be mad or arguing showed more immaturity than loving to me.

I enjoyed ‘Fearless‘. I do think that you have to be the type of reader who likes going back and forth from the past to the present with always just a few vital bits of information waiting to be discovered. I had a good time with this couple and in this world, and if you give it a chance I believe you will as well. This couple does belong together, it’s simply going to be a long road to travel to get to that point as they deal with their issues.

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher, Sourcebooks Casablanca via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*

Katie Golding is a breath of fresh air in contemporary romance and Fearless is a sexy, charming and oh so delicious read that is absolutely impossible to resist.

Billy King is at the top of his game. As a top Moto GP racer, Billy is used to the adoration and adulation of millions of fans screaming his name wherever he goes. Billy is a man who has it all: wealth, fame, success and breath-taking good looks, but he would give up all of his worldly goods for the family and the girl he had left behind. The girl he has never stopped thinking about. The girl he has never stopped wanting who managed to get under his skin and taken his heart captive forever: Taryn Ledell. Realizing that he isn’t going to get the woman he loves if he is all caught up in the Moto GP bubble, Billy decides to head back home, take a break and pull out all the stops to have Taryn by his side for the rest of his life. However, winning Taryn back is certainly not going to be a walk in the park as he discovers …

If Billy thought Taryn was going to sit at home twiddling her thumbs waiting for him to come back home, then he has got another think coming. Taryn has got dreams of her own and she fully intends to turn them into reality. Nothing and nobody – not even Billy – is going to stop her from making it big in the racing world, but will the return of the man she loves end up throwing all of her best laid plans awry?

Billy will certainly not stand in Taryn’s way. He wants her to succeed as much as she does, but can he convince her that he doesn’t want her to give up her dreams or her plans for superstardom, but just wants her to spend the rest of her life by his side? Will it be second time lucky for Taryn and Billy? Or is theirs a love that simply cannot be?

A witty, funny, sensual and captivating contemporary romance, Fearless is a tale about healing, courage and taking chances told using alternative viewpoints which I raced through. Katie Golding spices her narrative with charm, pathos, drama and emotion and has penned a top-notch romance with a spirited and intelligent heroine and a charismatic, kind-hearted and gorgeous hero who will make readers swoon.

A fantastic contemporary romance by a writer to watch out for, Katie Golding’s Fearless should not be missed.

Billy King may be smiling under his black Stetson as he waves for the MotoGP press corps, but the plain truth is the motorcycle racer is hurting: for his horse back in Memphis, for his girl with one boot out the door, and thanks to an injury that's not getting any better.
Taryn had told Billy no more bull riding or she is out. She watched her best friend bury her fiance on what was supposed to be their wedding day because he was killed from bull riding. Taryn is also a motocross driver and competes.
Ok I really liked these characters but the thing that I didn[t get is how much Taryn is against bull riding but ok for moto cross competing. To me that can be dangerous as well and 1 wrong move and you can be killed. That was the main thing that bugged me.
The other is no matter what Billy did, his father would find fault with. Billy's younger brother also drove in the same races and never win but his father never said a word to him. But after Billy's wins his father would say he should have done some of the moves his brother did. I think I would have blown up at him.
I received this from NetGalley and Casablanca for review.

Fearless was everything I wanted it to be and more. Billy is a likable guy who doesn't always have his ducks in a row. His priorities aren't always aligned properly, causing heartache for himself and his girlfriend, Taryn. He means well and tries really hard but Billy makes some poor choices in Fearless. Taryn expects to be the #1 person in Billy's life. Most women do in relationships. However, Billy finds cleaning up after his brother to be one of those high priorities that gets him in trouble with Taryn.

This book is told from multiple points-of-view, alternating between Billy and Taryn. While the story begins in the present day, the book also shifts into the past when Billy and Taryn first meet, building up their relationship, and dealing with both their lives, as racers, lovers, and during the hard times. The present day and past passages alternate with the past eventually meeting the present.

I enjoyed the way the author presented the flashbacks. They are their own chapters instead of being tossed in the middle of the present, leaving the reader to try and figure out what is going on and when. The author did a wonderful job building up to the conflict that threatened to destroy the relationship between Billy and Taryn. The character development was astounding and the world-building has me feeling like I was there with them during the good times, the bad times, and everything in-between.

I was engaged from the start and the author's writing kept me engaged. Fearless is a sweet romance with wonderfully flawed characters, a slow trek to forgiveness, and love that will survive almost anything. This is my first experience with Katie Golding and look forward to reading more by her.

Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC of this book. We all have our things and reading about motorcycle racers is not mine. Billy and Taryn were not fantastic. They seemed a little young to be having a second chance romance already. I've also lived in the south and I felt like the writing was laying on the southern-isms a little thick. Needless to say, it just isn't for me, but I'm sure others will like it.

This book centers around Billy, a Moto Grand Prix racer and cowboy, and Taryn, a World Superbike racer. The story is told going back and forth between viewpoints as well as timelines. I thought the storyline around the two different racing circuits, and their connection to people who also participate in rodeos was really interesting. It isn't something I know a whole lot about.

What didn't work for me was the alternating timeline. For some reason it just didn't quite click for me. Also I didn't really care for Taryn. She seemed really self centered. And I really don't understand why Billy is so hung up on her.

Although this book is a miss for me, I think if you are someone who loves rodeo or motorbike racing, I'd definitely give it a shot.

Katie Golding takes readers on the ride of their lives in her newest novel, FEARLESS. Golding's easy way with words and use of western lingo to tell her story draws readers in as they follow Billy King and Taryn Ledell on their journey back to each other. Golding’s knowledge of motorcycle racing seems endless as she uses alternating POVs and past/present narratives, to tell her story. If you've dreamed about cowboys who race motorcycles, FEARLESS is for you!

Both Billy and Taryn are wonderfully flawed, which makes it easy to connect with them. There were moments that I wanted to strangle both, but it was their love for each other and their love of racing that kept me coming back for more! Throw in a precocious horse named Gidget and FEARLESS is a book not to be missed.

Billy is a hero you can't help but love. Golding doesn't write Alpha males; instead, her heroes are realistic, adventurous, lovable, and they meet their heroines on equal footing. When we meet Billy, he's trying his best to be everything to everyone, especially his brother and Taryn. The number of times I wanted to hug him were endless. There were times I wished he would stand up more for himself, but overall, Billy is a perfect example of a guy who loves hard and puts others before himself.

Taryn is a badass. She's a woman on the male-dominated Moto racing circuit and absolutely gorgeous. She’s struggled with misogyny in the professional world and is determined to be famous for her riding skills rather than how she looks in a photograph. She’s also not interested in dating another racer—or even worse—a bull rider. Billy is both, but in a series of flashback chapters told in Taryn’s POV, we see how Billy wins her over.

I did struggle with Taryn at times. Both she and Billy come across as immature on occasion. While not categorized as such, FEARLESS read—at times—as New Adult Fiction. The flip side is that FEARLESS reminded me frequently of Urban Cowboy, one of the best films ever. Much like Bud and Sissy, Billy and Taryn fall in love quickly and then have to build their relationship from the dust of questionable choices and hurt feelings.

FEARLESS is book one in the Golding’s Moto Grand Prix series. We meet characters that we’re sure to see later in the series, including Lorelei and Massimo who most definitely take readers on a wild ride in book two.

Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks for an early copy in exchange for honest feedback.

Billy King is an accomplished motorcycle racer. However, he has a bad injury that just might keep him sidelined forever. Billy also enjoys spending time on his horse, but even spending time riding might be out of his reach for now. When he heads home to heal, especially considering the fact that he doesn't want anyone to know how badly he is injured, he runs into a competitor, Taryn, a woman whom Billy never quite let out of his heart and mind.

Billy and Taryn each gave as good at it could get. Things were not deemed to be easy for them - whether it was their racing careers or their relationship. One way that the reader could see the possibilities for them was the dual timeline in which this book was written. It was rather refreshing to see them as they once were (albeit briefly) and what the future could hold for them.

One thing that was never missing between the pair was the incredibly sexual chemistry. It was never lacking and was rather intense. However, strong pheromones don't always means happiness. It takes work and it was a joy watching Taryn and Billy work towards what would bring them the real joy they both needed and deserved. Beyond the sex, there was emotion in this story. Deep emotion that proved to be a strong catalyst for this wonderful story.

Second chance romances are one of my favorite tropes in romance stories. I really enjoy couples working through their conflicts in order to find out what they need to really make things work. Well, in this book we get to see that. I truly loved this book and really cannot wait to see what is next in store for this series.

Many thanks to Sourcebooks Casablanca and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

Fearless is the first book in Katie Golding’s Moto Grand Prix series, and also my first read by this author. Where to start? Well, let’s start with Billy; adorable, sweet, sexy and puts others always before himself, but sometimes that selflessness allows people to take advantage of his caring soul. Tarryn is a confident, take no crap badass, who stands up for herself, except where she needs to and that’s with her manager. This couple have history; and as with any second chance romance, there are issues to be resolved, baggage from their past and a love that has never died. I enjoyed the character development and even though the story was slow in places, the plot and storyline kept me interested and I’m sure I’ll be reading more from Ms Golding in the future.

A second chance romance!

I just loved Billy ... who wouldn't? He was a hunk who always put everyone else ahead of himself, especially his brother. I loved how Taryn didn't put up with crap from the guys she dated ... I only wish she would have stood up for herself that much with her manager. I liked how Billy told the story from the present and Taryn told the story from the past. Although the story was slow at times, it kept my interest as to what Billy's big mistake was and if Taryn would forgive him. This is the first book I have read by this author and I will definitely read other books by her.

Billy loved Taryn from the moment he laid eyes on her and that would never change. Billy was the laid-back cowboy who loved the adrenaline highs of bull riding and moto racing. Taryn was the hot-head who also loved the adrenaline highs of moto racing ... but bull riding no so much. She had boyfriends who were bull riders, but when her friend's fiancé died bull riding, she wanted nothing to do with bull riders. Billy was an EX-bull rider so things were great ... only with their schedules they hardly saw each other. Can a long-distance relationship really work?

So I knew absolutely nothing about Motocross before reading this HEA romance novel and you know what- that's fine and it's fun. Billy and Taryn both give their points of view in this novel that has a dual time line of their relationship. These two have circled around and with each other for years but now things have come to a point where, well, you know. Billy's coping with injuries that are making him miserable. Taryn has been miserable in the past because Billy. You know their stories are going to merge and all wrongs will be overcome but it's the journey that's fun. AND, there's rodeo! I liked Taryn (no nonsense woman) and Billy (big shell there) and was pleased for them. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. I liked this one.

This was my first experience reading this author’s work. The blurb grabbed me but I had a hard time connecting with the characters. The plot was interesting but I had to force my way through parts of the book. This was an OK read for me, not great but not bad either. I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC for NetGalley.
