Jillian, a genealogist, and her attorney father are in possession of a century-old trunk which had been left at Denver's Union Station so many years ago. As they go through it and try to learn it's story, we the readers, also, are thrown into the past, as the book goes back and forth from now to then.
Lynelle Bendeure is the other half of the story, as she is the one trying to arrive WITH the trunk in Denver. She has been working with the Pinkerton Agency involving a problem with her father's business.
The clues, as Jillian, comes upon and investigates them keep the story going and the reader reading. I need to read the first two in this series now.

Newport's series gets better with each new book - When I Meet You is the third in the series, and she does a good job with character development. There's an element of mystery, some historical fiction/dual timelines, and feel-good ending with each one.

Uncovering Secrets from the Past!
What mysteries are contained in a lady’s trunk that is a time capsule from another century? Jillian, a genealogist, is thrilled to be the one to open it and examine the contents. Included inside are pristine clothing, important papers and other personal treasures. Those things send her on a quest to understand the owner, Lynnelle Bendeure; what everything means; and why her trunk was left behind.
As she pieces together the past, she finds Lynnelle’s life had been in danger, her money was used to buy a large ranch, and she seemed to vanish into thin air. A hornet’s nest erupts when Jillian investigates the current ranch owners. She is ordered to stay away by a furiously angry woman named Min, but in the process, she meets Drew.
This great tale seamlessly goes back and forth between the story in the past and Jillian’s current time period. Told from a Christian viewpoint, you won’t want to put this clean story down until you get to the last page. I recommend this 5-star book that contains family secrets along with adventure, mystery and a hint of romance.
Barbour Publishing, through NetGalley has provided bookreadingtic with a complimentary copy of, When I Met You, for the purpose of review.

Loved it! I have thoroughly enjoyed this series and I think this one is the best yet. I love how Ms. Newport weaves the stories together between past and present. This time Jillian is looking into her own history to discover more about her mother's side of the family. She also comes across an old travel trunk from 1909 that was abandoned and she tries to discover what happened to the owner. In so doing she may have discovered a love interest for herself. YAY! Looking forward to the next book to see what happens.
I received a free copy of this book from Netgalley and the publisher and voluntarily chose to review it.

This is the best of the series so far!
Jillian and her father are given a trunk over 100 years old which is in pristine condition and contains clothing, photographs, a Bible, and documents which imply that there was a case of fraud being investigated by the Pinkerton agents in Denver. The owner of the trunk was living in Ohio according to coorespondance in the trunk, but her given name is unknown.
Jillian has a trunk of her mother's in the attic which has been painful for her to investigate. This new trunk gives her the courage to learn about her own family.
The story alternates between the present and what is happening with Jillian and her father Nolan and "flashbacks" telling what is happening to Lynnelle, the woman who traveled with the trunk. Of course, Lynnelle's story is unknown to Jillian.
How she unravels the mystery of what happened to Lynnelle is amazing. And, as usual, families involved learn a lot more about not only their past, but also themselves. There is healing.
I can hardly wait for Ms. Newport's next novel out this fall! It will be at the top of my reading list. As for When I Meet You - it has become a gift to be sent for no reason to family members who live genealogy.

If Genealogy intrigues you and the early 1900’s, does Olivia Newport have a story for you In When I Meet You.
Where Pinkerton investigations and a wealthy young woman cross paths, but than she disappears.
Where small town a genealogist tries to piece together the puzzle with a blessing of an ending!
This has adventure, romance, drama, fun and happiness in one book!

“When I Meet You” is the third book in Olivia Newport’s Tree of Life series. Jillian Parisi-Duffy is a professional genealogist living with her father, Nolan Duffy, a family law attorney. They live in Canyon Mines, a small-town set in the Rockies thirty minutes outside of Denver. A 100-year-old steamer trunk arrived at the Owens House Museum in Denver. The curator contacts Nolan to enlist his legal assistance with documents found inside the trunk. He and Jillian bring the trunk to their home in the mountains where Jillian soon gets engrossed in discovering what happened to the woman who owned the trunk and why was it never picked up from Union Station after traveling across the continent from Cleveland to Denver a century ago. Was the owner a victim of foul play? As Jillian digs into the past, she discovers a ranch near Pueblo that may have been purchased with stolen money and a stolen identity. Jillian confronts the current owners with the possibility that their ancestors may have acquired the land through illicit means. With her genealogical expertise, Jillian is determined to solve the mystery and give justice to the owner of the trunk. This is a definite must read for those who enjoy historical fiction and mystery.

A trunk abandoned at Denver’s Union Station more than a century ago leads genealogist Jillian and her lawyer father Nolan to untangle the mystery of its contents—including correspondence with the head of Pinkerton’s National Detective Agency Denver office. While Nolan digs into the legalities of the findings, Jillian searches for the descendants of a woman with a stolen identity. One of those potential descendants, Drew, welcomes Jillian's research, but his Great Aunt Min slams the subject closed.
"When I Meet You" is a fun, easy read. The mystery is interesting, too, as the story alternates between today and 100 years ago. I also appreciated that Jillian and Nolan are not as pushy in this volume.
While the book includes references to other mysteries Jillian and Nolan have solved, it can stand alone.

I received an ARC of this book. This is the 3rd book in a series but can be read alone. I've read all, each one better than the last! Great characters and intriguing story. Mystery from the past tied into present day events. I love this series!

This is the third in a series, and I did not yet read the first two, but book 3 can stand alone. It was an advance reader copy offered for review.
The story is told from the perspective of a young woman Jillian, who is a genealogist in the present, and a woman of the past, Lynelle Bendeure from the early 1900s. Miss Bendeure, a young socialite from the east is traveling by train to Denver to represent her father in business dealings. The description of her travels, including the clothing, manners, train travel, and the customs of the early 20th century was fascinating. Jillian, the main character in the current time, is introduced by her father, Nolan, to a gallery’s mystery trunk, a century old, and apparently left unclaimed at a train station in Denver. The antique trunk piques Jillian’s curiosity to find out the story of the steamer trunk, and perhaps descendants of the owner.
The story alternates between past and present, and the mystery takes many twists and turns as Jillian researches the reason the trunk was left unclaimed. A parallel story that remained unexplained is that Jillian’s late mother left a trunk in the family attic, and Jillian has never delved into her own history.
There are other prominent characters who are colorful, Jillian’s father, local friends In Canyon Mines, Colorado, and a few characters who were discovered on a property where Jillian trespassed looking for answers, but who became primary players.
The ways a genealogist works, and finds pieces of family history was quite interesting. I enjoyed the appreciation for history, for family secrets, and for the importance of mementoes. I also enjoyed the back and forth between past and present and how what appears as coincidence, often is not.
For me, there were loose ends that were not tied up - but, maybe in the next book? I would Definitely recommend this pleasant read.

"When I Meet You"
By
Olivia Newport
Synopsis - A trunk abandoned at Denver's Union Station more than a century ago leads Jillian and Nolan to untangle the mystery on its content, which is with Pinkerton's National Detective agency at the Denver office. Nolan research the legal papers, which was found inside, while Jillian looks for the rightful owners.
My thoughts - Another great mystery with Nolan and Jillian, father and daughter team. "When I Meet you" by Olivia Newport was a wonderful addition to the "Tree of Life" series. This is a stand alone book but I really enjoyed reading them in order. The character's were well written and so likable. I was pulled into the story from the very first page. I have to say that my favorite part is the relationship between Nolan and Jillian. They both have a part to do. Nolan on the legal side and Jillian on the research side. I love the whole aspect of the genealogy aspect of the story.
I will gladly recommend this book to other's.
My rating is a five out of five.
I received this complimentary copy of this e-book from the author and netgalley. I was under no obligation to write a review. All thoughts and feelings are mine and mine alone

Ah, the mystery of unraveling family history is amazing. Then we have a present-day family so it definitely is a recipe for success. I received an ARC from NetGalley and I loved this book. Did you notice the part, recipe for success, I couldn't resist because I am hoping it will intrigue you enough so that you want to read the book? It was far beyond what I was expecting.

The third in a series, When I Meet You stands alone beautifully. Olivia Newport brilliantly avoids any long introductions/explanations of what happened in the first two books, instead dropping any essential background into the narrative as it is needed. I did not expect to like this story as much as I did: the premise is original and intriguing (a mystery to be solved by a professional genealogist -- who knew that was a real job!), but too many authors recently have done a very poor job of moving between time periods. Newport's graceful use of letters from the past tucked between present-day scenes avoids any awkward transitions and allows the reader to look over the sleuth's shoulder as she gathers evidence. Multi-faceted characters, often with their own problems to solve, the beautiful setting of a small town in the Colorado mountains, and a satisfying resolution to the mystery at hand combine to provide a compelling diversion. I loved When I Meet You and am going back for the other two installments of the series!

This is another wonderful book in this series by Olivia Newport. I love the banter between Jillian, a genealogist, and her father Nolan, a lawyer. In this book, Nolan, has been asked to check into the legal status of an old steamer trunk that was found buried in the storage closet of a small Denver museum. Nolan drags Jillian along because he knows that she would find it interesting.
They end up bringing it home and start digging into its history. In the meantime, this prompts Jillian to look at her deceased mother's trunk that she has not looked at in a long time. I love how the story from 1909 is weaved in with the current research to figure out what happened back in 1909. It definitely makes me want to know more the heirlooms that I have from my family.
I received a copy of this book from Barbour Publishing through NetGalley to review and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Jillian is drug into Denver by her father Nolan for him to get some papers and her to see a very old trunk that was never claimed, from 1909. As is typical of this series, the story goes back and forth between the past and the present as Jillian is trying to find pieces to the puzzle that she can weave together in as complete a picture as possible. We venture briefly into Pueblo, and Denver, but are mainly in Canyon Mines. Jillian and Veronica meet Drew and Min when they go to Pueblo. Drew winds up in Canyon Mines a little later, offering help where he can, and proves a great help indeed. Beautiful story, that comes together nicely with the mystery of the trunk. Another wonderful addition to a series that is very entertaining and books that draw you right in. Can’t wait for the 4th in the series and am so excited we get to continue on in this community with Jillian and Nolan.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Barbour Publishing via NetGalley and was under no obligation to post a review.

When I Meet You is the third book in this series by Olivia Newport. This was a great book to read that continues Jillian's genealogy work and brings in a new mystery to solve. I love Jillian's dad Nolan who she lives with and the characters from previous books. This time we meet Drew who is a part of this family mystery. I sure hope we see more of him in book #4!
This is an easy-going book that will make you want to learn more about your family's past.
Thank you, Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review.

This is the third book in a series but it may be read independently. Jillian, a genealogist, lives with her father, Dolan in Canyon Mines, Colorado, a small resort town.
Dolan takes Jillian to an the Owens House Museum in Denver to open an old steamer trunk that has never been opened or claimed. The owner was a young woman named Lynnelle Bendeure, who was traveling from Ohio to Colorado, but then disappeared!
Jillian had to wear gloves to handle the contents - pristine silk outfits with blouses and jackets, a handheld mirror and brushes with pewter handles, photos of three generations, a man and wife with two boys, and multiple documents concerning the Pinkerton Agency, a detective agency in the 18 and 1900's.
Jillian is allowed to research the contents of the case - you will have to read the book for yourself to see what she discovers about Lynnelle's journey and her own family history.

Jillian, a genealogist, and her father an attorney with a passion for cooking end up with an 1800's steamer truck full of someone's possessions. Jillian is determined to track down who the original owner was and make sure it gets to any living relatives.
Her research leads her from one clue to another. Even though the book was written as two stories in one simultaneously, it was very easy to follow. As the story from the past evolves within the storyline, the current situation with Jillian was building clues to explain it all.
It was very well written. Lots of unexplained twists along the way, but everything was wrapped up nicely in the end, with a few extra surprises. Lots of mystery, suspense and a touch of romance. The Pinkerton Agency was a wonderful addition to the story.
I highly recommend it and plan to read more from this author.

“When I Meet You” is the 3rd book in the Tree of Life series. This series features a genealogist named Jillian, and her lawyer/chef father Nolan. Jillian is struggling to resolve the mysteries of two trunks: one discovered abandoned at Denver’s Union Station over a hundred years ago and, the second left to her by her late mother. The main storyline drifts between the distinct perspectives of Jillian in the present and Lynelle, the original owner of the Union Station trunk in the past. Jillian weaves through the mystery of how Lynelle became separated for her trunk. Lynelle’s tale of travelling alone from Denver to Cleveland to meet with a Pinkerton detective was a really well-researched glimpse into the past.
This book could be read as a stand-alone, but I struggled with keeping track of characters who had been introduced in previous stories. Had I known how confusing it would be, I definitely would have read the two previous books first. The relationship Jillian shared with her father was extremely heart-warming to read. I enjoyed how fond they were of each other.
The setting of small-town Colorado was absolutely perfect for this book, and I enjoyed reading despite s bit of confusion between timelines and characters.

“When I Meet You” by Olivia Newport
It takes a little getting used to, this jumping back and forth from a past-time to a present-time. But it is worth the effort. One reason is you really get two stories, that are connected, all in one suspenseful story. Just how will all or enough of the pieces be found and what is the story they will tell. Everyone is important and each person is the sum of all their experiences… come along, read this story, and hear these stories. Past and Present. A really good read. Happy Reading ! !
Note: I received an ARC from the publisher via NetGalley with the request that I would write a review.
