The author has created an entertaining story blending of Celtic mythology and urban fantasy.

Vivian has become a recluse since the death of her fiancé. When Katherine, an old friend of her mothers arrives reluctantly agrees to come to Ireland so that Katherine can train her to use her magic. Once she arrives in Ireland she discovers that magic is not the only training she is to receive. While Katherine teaches how to use her magic, McGregor and his/her warriors teach her how to fight using ancient ways and weapons.

This is a wonderful blending of urban fantasy and mystery; there are many plot twists that will keep the reader guessing until the exciting conclusion. I look forward to the next book in this series.

Vivien Kelly’s life changes in the blink of an eye the night her fiancé is murdered. She’s lost in grief, barely surviving, when her mother’s friend, Katherine, convinces her to come to Ireland to train. Train? Train for what? Vivien is a paranormal cleanser she discovers and has great power inside her, power a great demon named Dagda wants to control for his own dark purposes. Thus, the Kelly Society is born. She and her clan fight demons, banshees and all sorts of evil entities.

While cleansing a house in Half Moon Bay, California, Vivien meets her soul partner, Neal. It couldn’t come at a worse time as she’s in the battle of her life. She’s the only thing standing in the way between Dagda and his New World of Darkness on Earth. Can she focus all her power on defeating the Celtic god turned demon or will her fear of what may happen paralyze her?

What an incredible story and one I couldn’t put down. I’m a lover of myths and legends so when the author started weaving goddesses and gods dating back thousands of years into the story, I was hooked. The characters with all their flaws and insecurities add immense depth to the story. There are times when they leap from the pages and I swear come to life just over my shoulder. The plot is filled with twists and turns, some I didn’t expect or see coming. The action scenes, while compelling, were easy to envision through intricate descriptive narration. The “big bad” I like quite a bit. He reminds me of some of the classic villains in literature. His allurement is his greatest power and he knows exactly how to get in the head of Vivien. The final battle stopped my heart and I couldn’t breathe until it was over. Brilliant!

If you’re looking for a persuasive paranormal book you won’t be able to put down, pick up Bay of Darkness today. I can’t wait for the next installment. Highly recommend!

Favorite Character/Quote: Vivian. I connected with her right away and cheered her on the whole way. She’s an underwhelming heroine in the beginning but once she unleashes her inner power, she kicks butt. Her constant inner conflict between good and evil is believable and adds genuineness to her character.
