I like the page where it shows all the album covers of the people who did cover songs of his. And also like the drawing style.

I've enjoyed very many of these young children's biographies about a host of different people, all written by the same author but often with a different artist. In this case it was Roset, whose work was good and very entertaining.

This one talks about folk legend Bob Dylan who unintentionally became the voice of an era as he produced his songs about life and war throughout the sixties and for several decades beyond. I commend it for any young children who are interested in music and making change.

Another hit from Little People, Big Dreams for our family. The artwork in this book, in particular, was really something special. This story of Bob Dylan's life has a nice calm vibe.

“When he took part in a talent show, the teacher turned his microphone off. Bob sounded like a dog whose leg was caught in barbed wire!”

My Goodreads review includes an illustration captioned: Note the teacher pulling the plug :)

Young Robert Zimmerman wanted to play some kind of music and not just in his hometown. He wasn’t all that different from most young people in America, except that he had a real talent for songwriting.

My Goodreads review includes an illustration captioned: The newly self-named Bob Dylan writing songs in his bedroom

He headed to New York, developed his own style of folk music, and found young people who responded to his messages about civil rights and war.

My Goodreads review includes an illustration captioned: Bob playing to an enthusiastic audience

Many famous artists recorded his songs which became better known than he was. I’d say most people back then could sing along with Peter, Paul and Mary’s version of “Blowin’ in the Wind” before they ever heard Bob Dylan sing it, but I may be exaggerating.

My Goodreads review includes an illustration captioned: Some of the artists who recorded Bob Dylan’s songs

Needless to say, singers like Johnny Cash and Jimmy Hendrix took his words and stories to people who might never listen to folk music. His writing is such that he was the first musician ever to win the Nobel Prize for Literature.

This is an interesting series of books for small children, but there is a nod to the adults at the back with a recommendation for another ‘real’ book about Dylan plus a couple of pages of text and some photos.

My Goodreads review includes an illustration captioned: Dylan in 1961, 1966, 1975, and in 2012, receiving an award from President Obama

I hope this will spur some young poets to experiment, be brave, find their voice. I’m an unabashed Dylan fan and I’m sure many readers are too.

Thanks to NetGalley and Quarto Books - Frances Lincoln Children's Books - for the preview copy from which I've quoted and shared a few pictures. It's due to be published in April, do I hope librarians have their order books ready to keep adding to the series.

Another adorable edition to this collection. Beautifully illustrated telling of the story of Bob Dylan, one which I did not know. I can't wait to see who is next to be immortalised in one of these books.

Dylan's music spoke about things that mattered: civil rights, war, religion..Without even pretending, he became the voice of a generation eager to change the world, putting down in words what millions of people felt.

Biographies are great resources for adults but now for young children as well. This series of biographies give children in a child like manner a taste of others around them. In this case Bob Dylan and his music. How he became a musician and even his laid back personality. A personality that spoke volumes in his music. A great tool for parents and children to know other voices and influences around them.

A Special Thank you to Quarto Publishing and Nettgalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest review.

I liked this book, but there was quite a few typos. I think books like this are great ways for children to learn about famous people that are inspiring.

I received a free digital copy of this book through NetGalley. I get more and more excited by this series as they add new people of history and today to the series. A perfect introduction to biographies for early elementary.

Another book in the Little People, Big Dreams series. This one tells the tale of Bob Dylan, a shy, contemplative boy who likes to write and play music. It charts his life through school, college and his music career. I read this with my seven year old who had no prior knowledge of Bob Dylan or his music and he was interested to learn about his life. I discovered some new facts too. It’s a nice ratio of text to illustration and would be good to use in the classroom to learn about Dylan or to talk about poetry in music.

It is in need of a bit of proofreading, for example, I noticed that the word "college" was spelled "collage". The illustrations are lovely. It's certainly a cute book - it's hard to not like a kids book featuring Bob Dylan.

Seems to have been produced and written hastily

I like the "Little People Big Dreams" series. However, while this one still has gourgeous illustrations, it has a number of grammatical and spelling errors and missing spaces. Overall, it seems like the book was produced hastily. At least in my ebook (PDF), the timeline of Bob Dylan's life at the end is actually Astrid Lindgren's. (Yeah, what's up with that?). Still a great series, but this book could do with some proofreading.

I enjoyed this book and I thought that it was another great addition to the series.
I liked the way that the author has told the story that he has become famous through his work and that he still wants to stay out of the limelight. The images for me were not as nice as some of the other books in the series though.
It is 3.5 stars from me for this one, rounded up to 4 stars for Goodreads and Amazon

I love the picture books that Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara does. They are perfect for little children.
This one is a picture book that introduces the little readers to the inspiring story of iconic singer, songwriter, poet and artist, Bob Dylan.
It is written in simple sentences, which are perfect for the little ones and it offers them inspiring messages.
I love how quirky the illustrations are.

Few people can be surprised that Bob Dylan has got his own book in the Little People, Big Dreams series.
He is a standout lyricist and musician who has influenced most forms of music; his songs covered by the famous and chanted in protest by crowds of folk united by his words and vision.
At college my room mate from Indian was a great Dylan fan, he would quote him effortless most days and I know better than most: “money doesn’t talk, it swears”.
Good to be reminded of those days as I read this short book for children. Pack with great colourful illustrations and simple words leaving a lasting impression you, from this man’s simple life.
As with all these books they are a beginning, a start to let a young person find out more for themselves. It is the humble life growing up; self taught musician whose words were the catch rather than his voice. His beat, engaging tunes and catchy melody that resonated to be discovered and which still moves a new generation today.
An ability to put into words what others feel but could never express themselves is why he won an Nobel Prize for Literature. To be more than others could have imagined he could be is what makes us all see the power of dreams and the need to encourage potential in all.

The ARC of this book was provided by the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

The ‘My First Little People, Big Dreams’ series provides informative and inspirational biographies about people who left a mark on this earth, no matter what difficulties they have encountered.
These stories are very short, but that’s because they’re books for children, so it’s totally understandable.
I think they are a very smart and wonderful way to introduce little children to such important figures.
This one year is about BoB Dylan, one of the most famous singers of all time. It talks about his childhood and how he started his career. He took risks to achieve what he wanted and wrote so many songs that speak directly to one's heart. So inspiring!

I read this little book to the little guy in my house yesterday and today he was roaming around strumming his ukulele and banging tables - his version of being inspired by Bob Dylan who we read in the book, taught himself to play a guitar and a harmonica besides other things.

To be honest, though I had heard the name, I was not familiar with Dylan or his work much. For the uninitiated like me Bob Dylan was a musician and lyricist who wrote some amazing poetry/ songs on jist about every issue that matters.

The book brings to life the journey of Bob Dylan from being Robert Allen Zimmerman growing up in Hibbing, Minnesota, USA tp being a Pop Culture icon of the world.

Illustrated abd written with the audience in mind, small kids, the book is a gem that makes for a wonderful and inspirational read.

I love the idea of a children’s book about Bob Dylan. The illustrations are gorgeous. The writing is just so-so. There wasn’t a clear “life lesson” here, which I feel is doing quite the disservice to the life of Bob Dylan.

He took risks to stand for the things he believed in. He wrote music that spoke to the heart and longings of an entire generation and he did it with bravery and boldness. It would have been neat to tie that in to the idea that one voice, especially a voice that was told it was no good, can speak the language of millions.

I do feel like there was a missed opportunity there. But overall, I’m excited to read this with my kids.

Reading the Bob Dylan edition of Little people, BIG DREAMS was so much fun. It was the first one in this series that I got the chance to read and I'm madly in love with how well done this short picture of a life was. The art is super pretty and even though it's really short, it never felt cut or "unfinished". This little book made me smile and even got me a bit goosebumpsy at the end.

Inspiring and utterly lovely told. I'll make sure that my godchildren will have this one and others in this series in their life.

The Little People, BIG DREAMS books are a great way to inspire your kids to dream big. And stay true to themselves.

I liked this book as I do just about every book in this series. I will say there were a few corrections that need to be made, such as a space between Bob and he on the Nobel Prize ceremony page. Also the bio at the back was for Astrid Lingren.

Bob Dylan by Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara is another fine addition to the Little People BIG DREAMS series. As we have come to expect from this appealing and educational franchise, the book delivers a concise and accessible introduction to legendary musician Bob Dylan, the boy who would grow up to become the voice of a generation.

I continue to applaud this wonderful series of books that endeavour to show even the youngest of children that it is possible to achieve their biggest dreams.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group - Frances Lincoln Childrens for this ARC.
