This is a very clever thriller which is full of twists and turns
The book is full of very hard hitting topics so won’t be for everyone.
The characters were well rounded.
But there was something about the writing style that I didn’t gel with

Love the way the plot unfolded slowly but surely. Great twists at the end too. Jenny was an interesting character, and one I couldn't make up my mind about for a long time.

This is one which is hard to review without giving any spoilers, so let's just say TWISTS! Upon TWISTS!

Really good fun and impossible to put down.

Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC without obligation.

Full disclosure, when I was first approved for this one I struggled to get into it and put it down, it was more me than the book.

After picking up a copy from my local library I am so glad I tried again. The premise of this one had be intrigued from the begining and it did not dissapoint. An excelent thriller that has me thinking what the heck is going on!

What a rollercoaster! This book was brilliant and I couldn't put it down! I haven't read anything like it and while I had my theories, the twists and turns kept coming!

It was really well written and although some elements of the book were quite distressing to read, it was handled well by the author. Every time you uncovered another part of the story, you were left guessing about lots of other things, which made it a captivating and thrilling read.

The story is unpredictable and even though I thought I had figured it out, there was still more to come! Recommend a read!

I really enjoyed this book. When Jenny was 6 years old she was kidnapped. Now 12 years later she is back! But where has she been and how has she managed to find her way home? This in itself is the basis for a good story, but is the grown up Jenny who she says she is, and what secrets are her family keeping? This is a real page turner that will keep you guessing right to the end. Thoroughly recommended.

Woah what a roller coaster of a read, a ride and a half, had me guessing all the way through and I wasn’t quite sure what to think to be honest, loved the characters and felt so much for Jenny’s parents and how hard it just have been for them when she went missing and also when she apparently returns! Brilliant gem of a book and a must read for 2021

I read this book in Jan 2020, and I was in a serious reading slump at the time and so I didn't write a review. I've just realized that now. Apologies for that. Having said that, I did rate the book 4 stars on Goodreads and on my blog related FB page. I thoroughly enjoyed this one and would definitely recommend it. PS - luckily for me, I've come out of my reading slump now and I'm back to reading and reviewing the titles sent to me.

Safe was an interesting one that I enjoyed very much.
It’s one of those reads that initially seems fairly transparent that is until you delve deeper.
This was such an easy read that I completed in one sitting.
Full of twists and turns it pulled me in investing me in the unfolding narrative.

This is primarily a psychological thriller centring on Jenny a girl who at 6 years old was kidnapped while walking to her friend's house two doors away.
Now 12 years later a girl claiming to be the missing Jenny has reappeared she knows all about Jenny’s past and details only Jenny could know she appears authentic and the grieving parents welcome her into there home with open arms.

The only one who seems suspicious of her claims and her motives is Jenny’s older brother Ben who right from the beginning isn’t convinced.
It’s also not long before Jenny is herself having suspicions of her own ones concerning her parents and starts to investigate stuff for herself.

This is mostly told from Jenny’s POV and we also get a few instances from the brother Ben and the father Jake.
Safe essentially was a well crafted psychological thriller that easily kept my attention with its mystery and intrigue and I’m happy to recommend.
My only slight issue was the finish which I found slightly anti-climatic.
I still enjoyed this but did think the ending let things down slightly.
I voluntary reviewed a copy of Safe.

‘Safe’ -S.K Barnett
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

What lengths would you go to keep your children safe? For one family, their life is viscerally destroyed upon the disappearance of their 6-year old daughter, Jenny. Miraculously she returns some 12 years later after enduring the unimaginable.

But is all as it seems?
What happened to Jenny and how did she escape?
Moreover, has she returned to the solace of safety she had once known?

This is the ultimate sleight of hand novel. Each question answered leaves three more unanswered. It left me incorrectly surmising throughout. It effectively blurs the lines between predator and prey, and reinforces the animalistic instinct of survival, by any means...

Many thanks to NetGalley and publishers for this fabulous ARC!

What a twisted storyline!

Jenny Kristal went missing on 10 July 2007. Seven years later, Jenny Kristal returned home. However, is she really Jenny? How will her parents, Jake and Laurie and brother Ben react?

Reading this novel reminded me of going on a roller-coaster. Flying through dangerous corners at breathtaking speeds wondering what I’d find around the next corner. A brilliant plot with outstanding characters. Jenny, the protagonist who tells us the story is authentic and had my full sympathy – maybe not my trust. On reflection, though, how would I have acted in her position?

SK Barnett will undoubtedly leave you guessing for days after you reach the finale. A fantastic book to while away some cold rainy day forcing you to stay inside.

Twisty and turny and very raw in places, this book keeps you on the edge of your seat all the way through!

I liked the twists and turns and surprise ending. There is so much that goes on in a person’s life that we really don’t know or can even comprehend. “Safe” offers up an emotional and almost unbelievable journey into the life of a young person who has “adapted” herself to any situations in order to stay alive. A great read.

The answer to all their prayers! But, is it? Barnett certainly has both the characters in the story and the reader wondering.
At the outset this was a little confusing, and even annoying, as it jumps about so much from the certain to the maybe, to the definitely not. However, this is quite probably the intention of the author so that the reader experiences the same frustrating doubts and confusions as the characters.
I swung from thinking, ’That poor mixed-up kid’ to ‘How on earth could she do that?’ and back again which, of course, makes this a pretty good read.
