I sort of liked this book and have read several of these author's other novels. It was an unusual concept to have Dom continually repeating his Thursday over and over and personally it got a little old to me. It came together in the end and he was able to move on, hopefully with Amanda, but I thought the story didn't make a lot of sense and I struggled to get through this one. I'm sorry!

I’ve read a number of Liz and Lisa’s prior books and I was so excited to read this one. The story broke my heart and made me think about truly living every day to its fullest. Dominic gets stuck in a “Groundhogs Day” style time loop with each day ending with his ex-fiancé tragically dying. He had to figure out why it’s happening and how to save her. I loved his point of view and his growth during this novel. It was a great read, especially during this crazy pandemic time where it feels like every day repeats it self. Highly recommend!

I have a feeling I’ll be in the minority with this, but i result didn’t like this story. I love almost everything these authors publish, but this one didn’t do it for me. I was skeptical of a “groundhog day” type book because i find them repetitive and overdone, but I wanted to give this a try. The main character relives his day NINE TIMES. Total snooze fest. Predictably, he gains new insights each time, and predictably, it’s not Mia’s life that needs saving. The main character is utterly unlikeable, and I honestly only kept reading in hopes that the ending would blow my mind. It didn’t.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advance copy in exchange for my honest review.

I've always loved Liz and Lisa's books, I don't know what it is about their books, but once I start, I cannot put them down. I always seem to binge them all, and I've almost read all of their books, I think I have two to go. I am forever grateful I happened to just stumble upon one in a bookstore, it looked interesting, and the rest is history. I've also really just enjoyed following their lives on social media as well.

I really liked this one! I've always told myself I wouldn't read a Groundhog's Day-type book because it can get well, repetitive. Liz and Lisa really worked it well. It wasn't too repetitive or preachy with each day, but you also understood that each day was repeating itself, for the most part.

This book is about Dom trying to reconnect with his ex-fianceé who he broke up with over 10 years ago. She comes back to into his life, but she keeps passing away each day. When she passes away, he wakes up again the same morning and the cycle continues as he tries to figure out how to keep Mia alive. I found myself more and more eager to find out how the book would end as it went on. I liked to try to predict how she would perish, as weird as it sounds. All in all, this book had the best and most result ending it could have.

I think the only reason this didn't get a full 5 star for me, and this is no fault of Liz or Liza, but this premise right now is being done a lot in publishing, in the past month, I've read two other books with relatively similar plot lines to this one. This one I will say stands out more than the other two, but I still will probably find myself getting these books all tangled once I find myself further away from the date I finished this book. Again, this is not the fault of them at all, it just happens that the books I've been wanting to read are along similar lines.

I'm excited to add this one to my collection when it comes out in July! It will definitely be a book that I will be recommending to my friends in the future. I cannot wait to read their next book already, whenever that may be!

Dom is a man in his thirties that works for a tv station in San Diego. He runs into Mia, his ex-fiancé, after ten years. Who he still cares for. The two agrees to go out to catch up. On their date, tragedy strikes, and Mia is killed. Dom is devastated by Mia’s death. Waking up the next day, he finds it’s the same day again. He doesn’t know what’s going on, as he keeps reliving the same day. He tries saving Mia, but is never able to. As the same day repeats itself, trying to save his love, Dom learns a lot about himself, and his view on life.

All I can saw is wow. What an incredible story. It was beautifully written. The characters were so wonderfully real, you felt like you knew them. You definitely feel for Dom every time he tries and fails to save Mia. This story definitely pulls at the heartstrings. And makes you think about what you would do if you had the chance to relive one day in your life. I was drawn in from page one, and could not put it down. I definitely recommend this book.

How to Save a Life by Liz Fenton & Lisa Steinke

Out 7/28. Thank you to wonderful authors @li and @lake for a free copy.

❤️- This one sucked me in fast! I was fully vested in saving Mia myself and knowing how this Groundhog Day would play out. As Dom tries to make small changes each day, i felt myself thinking of changes he could make as well! While I enjoyed the whole book, the ending was absolutely perfect. I won’t say anything due to spoilers, but I’m happy it went where it did. I DMed the authors immediately when I was done!
🤷🏻‍♀️- There was nothing here I didn’t enjoy.

Recommend for those who love these authors and are looking for a page turner this summer!

I chose this book for the authors. I have read several of their books and I have always found them very enjoyable. As I started reading, I was thinking that this was kind of hokey..the same day over and over again. However, I soon found myself invested in the characters. Each day had its own unique twist and the main character grew as a person each time. I really enjoyed it! It will not disappoint!

'How to Save a Life' (set to release on 7/14/2020) is the newest title written by author duo Liz Fenton and Lisa Steinke. In the beginning of the story, Dom unexpectedly runs into his ex-fiance Mia for the first time in almost 10 years and asks her on a date. Mia tragically dies while they are on their date (this is jacket copy information - no spoilers here) and Dom makes a heartfelt wish to be given the chance to save her. Surprisingly, his wish is granted as he wakes up the following day to find that they are both still alive and he begins what is a 'Groundhog's Day' tale of living the same day over and over again while he tries to figure out what he needs to do to save Mia for good. This is a story of love and loss and looking honestly at yourself and the decisions you have made.

I liked this book. There were a few moments where it felt overly repetitive but given the nature of the plot-line, I suppose that is to be expected. The characters are likeable and there's just the right amount of emotional pull without being overdone. This will make for a great summer read when it releases.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the advance copy in exchange for my honest review.

Thank you Netgalley for an ARC for this book in exchange for an honest review. As soon as I heard that these duo authors came out with another book I was thrilled to read it. Unfortunately unlike the others I was not crazy about the book it was a bit slow and I was unable to finish it.

This book is heartfelt, moving, and tragic. It has left me feeling completely shaken up! The story begins when the protagonist, Dominic, fatefully runs into Mia, his former fiancé/the one who got away. They plan a date night at the fair but tragedy strikes during their reunion when Mia literally and figuratively slips out of Dominic’s grasp and dies in a freak accident. Dominic then becomes stuck in a loop, reliving the day over and over again while attempting to prevent Mia’s untimely death each time. This book is for anyone who has a tendency to get mentally and emotionally stuck. It’s about finding beauty where you are and moving forward with freedom. I found portions of the book to be somewhat cliched but the overall message of the book more than made up for it!

I just finished this book and I'm bawling my eyes out. I've heard from other Netgalley readers that have already read it and recommended it to me that it was basically a romantic suspense twist on the movie Groundhog's Day. But it was so very much more than that. I read it in one sitting. I couldn't put it down. I read it through lunch. I read it through my afternoon coffee. I read it through dinner. I can honestly say there was not one single character that I didn't like. The authors both did a fantastic job with their character development. The characters were deep and Rich and so believable. The plot line is heartbreaking and yet uplifting at the same time. I couldn't wait to keep reading through it and now I hate that it's over. It is that good of a book.

I would like to thank co-authors Liz Fenton and Lisa Steinke, Lake Union Publishing and Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book and exchange for fair and honest review.

This is an enjoyable book with a very heavy 'Groundhogs Day' feel to it. The novel takes the reader down a path that asks do people really have second chances in life and romance? The main character Dom sure thinks so as he tries relentlessly to save his relationship with his ex, Mia.

My one complaint would be the obvious downfall of the repetitive plot line trope- the novel really does drag a little in the middle. The ending makes up for the slow pace, but the reader can see the story finish from a mile away.

I LOVED this book!!! Such an amazing and powerful story. After 10 years, Dominic runs into his ex-fiance unexpectedly and considers it a sign. However, he loses her all over again in a tragic accident, then wakes up the next morning in the previous day, just like Groundhog Day. Can Dom save Mia? And what does it all mean? I really loved how everything in this story came together, and the lessons that Dom learned. Highly recommend this one!

Liz & Lisa for the win again!

Thank you to Lake Union, NetGalley and these amazing ladies for the opportunity to read How to Save a Life. I've been a fan of their work since The Good Widow and they just keep delivering! I loved that even though I knew what was coming with each day that Dom lived, the surprise continued to be new every time. It didn't get repetitive and was done fabulously. Sometimes I watch a movie that utilizes a time loop and it gets old and I'm ready for the day to be over. NOT the case with this book. I loved being able to grow with Dom, as he discovered new traits about himself that were there, waiting to be uncovered during the process.
I had an idea where the book was headed, but still enjoyed every page of this book. I couldn't put it down. This book was a breath of fresh air during a crazy time in our lives and I'm so glad I was able to read it! Thank you again, Liz & Lisa!

Once again, a book by Liz and Lisa that I couldn’t put down. I really felt for the characters and squealed out loud multiple times, cringed, and cried. It was a heartfelt, lovely story that I can’t wait to read again.

I was so excited to get an advance copy of this book from my favorite writing duo! One word to describe this book would be heartbreaking. I absolutely loved this book from start to finish..Although it was a heartbreaking book, it also made me feel uplifted at the same time.

I really wanted to like this book, but it really fell flat for me. I found Dom corny and his love for Mia to be really exhausting. This book didn't feel like it was based in reality and the story felt rushed and not properly thought out.

I have read other books by Liz Fenton and Lisa Steinke and have enjoyed them for different reasons. I read How to Save a Life during the time of quarantine and thought the concept of a "Groundhog Day" type of story was very timely. I was immediately caught up in this book - it wasn't difficult for me to get into at all. The story seemed to slow down a bit in the middle but maybe that was just me trying to figure out what day it was in my actual life! How to Save a Life presents as a rom-com and on the surface, it is. However there are many lessons to be learned from Dom, Mia, Lance, Chuck, and Amanda.

How appropriately timed that I would be granted and early access copy of this book during the middle of a quarantine?! Similar to how my days are currently all feeling like repeats of the one the day before, this book takes you through the lives of Dom and Mia, multiple times, over and over. The "Groundhog Day-esqe" book quickly became a cute page turner that reminded me of 50 First Dates. It was a quick read for me, as I could not put it down! How will their love story end? Pick up a copy and find out! You won't regret it! Thank you to NetGalley and Lake Union Publishing for a copy of this book for an honest review.

Got to read this book thanks to Netgalley! It was a combination of Groundhog Day and Fifty First Dates, which are two of my favorite movies.. I loved the characters and the lessons learned throughout this story. The ending crushed me, I was not expecting that. Great book!
