Thank you to Liz Fenton & Lisa Steinke, Lake Union Publishing and NetGalley for this ARC.

Why are Liz Fenton and Lisa Steinke such an amazing writer duo??? I absolutely loved this story about Dom trying to save his ex-fiancee's life. It's a wonderful mix of Groundhog Day and Happy Death Day. The way Mia dies are hilarious (and sad), and you feel so bad for Dom as he tries and fails. I loved it, and cannot wait to read more by this duo.

Thanks to NetGalley and Lake Union Publishing I got early access to this heartwarming book by Liz Fenton & Lisa Steinke set to hit shelves on July 14.

Admittedly, I was a little hesitant to read a book with a "Groundhog Day" theme, as it feels pretty close to home these days in quarantine, but I'm glad that I gave it a go!

A decade ago, Dom was engaged to Mia. He got scared and ended the engagement, and she became "the one that got away." Today - ten years later - he bumps into her and sees this as his second chance to get her back - only she dies tragically on their first date. He makes a wish: He wants another chance to save her life.
So begins the same day again - many times - with Dom trying to re-wire fate and save her from dying only she keeps meeting her tragic end.

How can he stop this endless time loop? And can he do it with ending up with Mia? You will find out with this book and it will make you reflect on life and how we choose to spend the time we have. I enjoyed it and I'd recommend it!

Just imagine having to relive the day your love of life dies repeatedly for seven days, that’s just horrible. But the revelations during this whole Groundhog Day experience are so relevant for the person that they actually act as lessons for his future. I did wish things were easier for him but he really needed to learn how to face life. I was not so sure about Mia, his love of life. She seemed a bit confused but she clearly, truly, deeply loved Dom and had never moved on.

Coming to the writing, the authors have done it again! You will definitely finish it off in just one sitting as it is an emotional story with a mystery element. Re-living the most horrible day and each experience after him brings into light various secrets and what happened in the decade when Dan and Mia were not together. It is definitely a quick read and an engaging read and gets you hooked into it right away.

Every time Dom relives the nightmarish day he tries only one thing and that is how to save the life of his love and does he really manage to save Mia at the end ? Does he see himself out of the whole grief that he faces every day ? You just have to read now to find out how he breaks out of the time-loop and ends the nightmarish day.

I normally get very irritated to read the groundhog day kind of time-loop experience but this is refreshingly interesting and different from the rest.

This is more of a mixture of romance and emotions with the groundhog day experience!

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the advanced copy!

This book was an interesting read for a time loop themed story. I just didn’t like that the end was predictable. It almost felt like I wanted the story to move faster because I knew what was coming. But I liked the progression of Dominic’s character through the book and how he grew as a person and learned a lot about himself and his relationships. Still worth reading!

I appreciate the opportunity to read this ARC but if I’m honest I did not love the “Groundhog Day” affect. It made certain parts of the book repetitive and I found myself just scanning the words instead of really reading them.

How to Save a Live by Liz Fenton & Lisa Steinke Reviewed April 24, 2020 4+
Romance, Fantasy and yes a bit of Mystery

I am a Liz and Lisa fan. Read all their novels and was lucky enough to be invited to the Book Launch for [book: The Two lives of Lila Bennetts]. It was such fun hearing how these two authors create great novels via “Social Distancing” ~ way before we were asked to do stay 6feet or more away from each other.
Since I totally enjoyed “The Two lives of Lila Bennetts” My expectation honestly wasn’t all that high!
Hmmm Groundhog Day! Really?
Yikes I was wrong. This was great. A quick page-turner!!
These two did NOT let me down!
I should have anticipated that knowing these authors that there would be some twists.

Want to thank NetGalley and Lake Union Publishers for this early release granted to me in exchange for an honest professional review. Publishing Release Date is scheduled for July 14, 2020
BTW: I was sure the Publishing date was going to be on June 11, 2020!!

HOW TO SAVE A LIFE is the newest by Liz Fenton and Lisa Steinke. I fell in love with this team’s writing style with THE STATUS OF ALL THINGS – a book I can still recall in vivid detail though I read it a few years ago. This book is a return to their storytelling that contains a bit of magic and a lot of reflection along with a big dose of drama. I truly thought I knew where it was heading and then was completely taken aback by the end. I think that all of us can think of a moment in time that we wish we could do over or see if we could change the outcome. I also appreciated the way that Dom changed his focus, or added to it, with each repeated day, especially through Chuck. A good story and a fast read!

Thank you to Lake Union Publishing and NetGalley for the advanced copy of this novel. All opinions are my own.

I read this amazingly crazy novel at a time when the entire world is stuck in "Ground Hog Day" day after day and keep hoping it will get better.
So.. why in this stort is every Thursday, Jun 11th ,happening over and over for Dominic?
Why in each Thursday does the love of his life Mia die? How can Dominic save her?
Is this what he needs to figure out or is he just plain crazy?
What is the lesson that Dominic needs to learn for the day to be allowed to move to June twelfth?
This is a story that truly had me wondering if Friday would ever come ?
As Dominic said: "I'm asking for Friday. Begging. I'm ready to be free."
Liz Fenton and Lisa Steinke never disappoint and this will surely have you checking the calendar and hoping for the days to resume!
A great book!

I have been a fan of Liz Fenton and Lisa Steinke’s novels for a while now and ‘How to save a life’ is another feather in their cap.
The central plot comes from Dom’s reunion with ex-fiancee Mia, the one who got away. Dom has blamed himself for the past decade for letting her go because of commitment issues and sees this fateful meeting as a chance to start over. He is stuck in his ways and habits and Mia is a free spirit, always optimistic and open to life. But Dom’s entire life outlook changes after tragedy strikes on their reunion date and all he wants is a chance to change their fate; a chance he is given over and over. The goal to stop reliving that day by saving a life.
This entire novel is all consuming for the reader and even when Dom wakes up again and again in the same place the story never gets tired or repetitive. It tells a beautiful journey of hope, love and being a better person. The way in which Dom grows throughout his ‘groundhog day’ experiences is an amazing transformation and I think we can all learn from his story. Fenton and Steinke keep you on edge up until the last page and make you feel every emotion throughout this book: I feel very lucky to have read this one in particular.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC. This was not my favorite from Liz and Lisa. I normally love their books, but the characters in this one fell flat for me. I just didn’t buy that Mia and Dom were so in love with each other that they were both still pining 10 years later. I think a couple more chapters of background on their initial love story would have helped them feel more believable to me. As it is currently written, I couldn’t get invested in the characters at all. And with the time loop premise that requires so much suspension of disbelief, the reader really has to believe in the main characters and I just didn’t.

I really enjoyed reading this novel! I wish it were coming out sooner so that I could recommend it to friends to read right about now. I have been struggling during this crazy time, to focus on novels, but I could NOT put this one down. I read it in about 5 hours over two days.

I usually see the big "twist" coming, but I totally did not see this one coming. I think this book really worked because it focused on such a short time period (although repeating) and kept moving forward. I do enjoy a novel that goes back and forth between character perspectives, but it was refreshing to read this novel that stuck to the story told through the eyes of Dom, our protagonist.

This book was both depressing and uplifting somehow, I loved that it didn't end up being a big focus on a romantic, happy ever after ending. I will absolutely recommend this read once it is released. I look forward to reading more by this author duo.

Thanks for the advanced copy, Lake Union and NetGalley!

Ooohhh my #Netgalley how I love thee. Started #howtosavealife by #lizfentonandlisasteinke all I can say is 😱 they have done it yet again 🎉 I LOVED this book so much I finished it in one sitting ❤️ #lakeunionpublishing #netgalleyreview imagine that you and the girl you love are about to embark on the rest of your lives. You are going to propose. Flashforward ten years later ... Bumping in to each other. All of the feelings and emotions and regrets and should have, could have, would haves start. You make plans to meet on a Thursday. But then. It's like Groundhog Day. You keep reliving the day over and over again. Why? How do you make it stop? What are you supposed to learn? How do you save someone's life? How do you let go? This book had me enraptured from the first page and was what I needed during this #quarantined2020 #covid_19 I highly recommend picking up this beach read and getting yourself lost in these characters lives. #netgalleyreview #bookstagram #booksofinstagram #bookreader #bookreview

I am a fan of the authors, Liz and Lisa. It's interesting to me not only how they are able to write together, but also how they are able to switch the type of plot they use. I feel it's difficult to pull off, but I appreciate the effort.
This book did not disappoint, and I loved seeing some familiar San Diego landmarks. One thing that will be unique to this time is there are some dates in summer 2020. The San Diego fair was mentioned, but because of the coronavirus guidelines, that's canceled this year. This doesn't take away from the book at all but added something that will remind us of this time.
The premise is that Dom was engaged to Mia 10 years prior, but he immediately got cold feet and broke up with her. He sees her, all these years later, and feels it's his chance to rekindle their relationship. But, Mia tragically dies the night of their date. Through a twist of time, and perhaps fate, Dom relives that Thursday over and over, trying to change circumstances to avoid her death. This seems like a plot that's been done, but there are some unique aspects to this one. I highly recommend this book, and the others written by the authors. I want to thank Net Galley and Lake Union Publishing for an e-ARC of this title in exchange for my honest review.

3.5 stars. I had a hard time deciding how I was going to rate this book, primarily because I spent the majority of the book disappointed at how stale the story felt. I feel like I have read many books with a similar premise and nothing about this particular story felt fresh; Mia especially felt like a very stereotypical trope type character. The ending actually gave me a bit more hope in the book and wrapped it up nicer than I anticipated.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review. While I expected more out of Fenton/Steinke and feel this one fell short, I'm a big fan and look forward to their next novel.

I adored this book!! Once I started reading, I couldn’t put it down. I absolutely loved the male point of view from Don- how original!
The plot took us down a time loop of the same day of Don trying to save the love of his life. His accounts of each day are heart wrenching and I couldn’t wait to see what was going to happen and how this was going to work out!
The ending hit me with a shocker I really wasn’t expecting- it took my breath away!
I’ve read all of Fenton & Steinke books and this one is by far my favorite. Thanks to Netgalley for my advanced ebook copy!

I was interested in how the book would eventually end but I did sometimes get bored with the repetitiveness, even though I knew going in that this would be like Groundhog Day. I'm not sure why but I wasn't sold on Mia's personality either and was ready for Dom to move on.

Kindly received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Dom proposed to Mia, the love of his life and the next day he panicked and called it off. Fast forward 10 years later when he runs into Mia at a coffee shop. All this time he’s regretted losing her, knows he made a mistake, would give anything to have her back in his life, and there she is. A chance to make things right. On their June 11th first date the unthinkable happens, and Dom is devastated. But as he wakes the next morning he is astonished to find out it’s once again June 11, and he has a do over on the day. But June 11 keeps happening over and over and Dom is in a time loop, forever destined to respect the day until he can figure out why.
I have mixed feelings about this book. The premise is good, but I never really cared about Dom or Mia and what happens to them. . Dom is supposed to be madly in love with Mia but it comes across he’s in love with the idea of her, and doesn’t really care for her risk taking personality, plus he’s a bit of a mamas boy, not fully grown up. He seems shallow, and although he gets somewhat of a perspective on his life I never really warmed to him. The same with Mia.
I also didn’t care for the reason why he kept going through the loop and although the ending was okay, it wasn’t great. Still a fast read if you want something light.

At some point while reading this, I did not think I was going to like the book as a whole. The Groundhog’s Day theme was hitting a little close to home with our quarantine situation. I found that I really enjoyed the book. It was definitely sad. It was not an easy light rom com. But the characters were definitely memorable and it was worth the read!
