A rogue that awakens the desires she thought she would b=never feel again gives her life the purpose it had been missing. A great story of finding a new life after tragedy.

I found this book quite engaging. Lady Julia faces a challenging situation, seeking an escape for herself and her son from the overbearing control of her father-in-law. Since her husband's passing, his authority has become oppressive, and she yearns for freedom. Enter Garrett Stockton, a man she desires but must resist, especially given his seafaring profession, which triggers her mistrust. Despite her apprehensions, their love story unfolds with a delightful sweetness. My only reservation is that achieving their happily ever after seemed too effortless, considering Lady Julia's deep-seated fears. The rapid resolution of Julia and Garrett's journey to happiness felt somewhat incongruous with the challenges they faced. Nonetheless, I recommend it.

Apologies for the late notice, but I have decided not to review this title. While I am certain it's obvious by now, I wanted to also clear this off NetGalley, so it's not showing as open for either of us.

Just a case of "It's not you, it's me", these days it keeps getting harder and harder for me to enjoy historical romances, I stick to my favourite authors and it's rare to enjoy a "new to me" author.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, it's been a while since I've read it but I do remember I like it. Amelia Grey is talented writer.

This is a Historical Romance Fiction, and this is the second book in the First Comes Love series. I have not read the first book in this series. I found it overall just ok. I did not love it and did not hate it. I did like the beginning more then the rest of the book. So, In this book Julia is trying to get from under the control of her late husband's father (The Duke). She does fall in love with Garrett in this book, but Julia does not know if he will make a good father for her son. So, she just wants to court someone. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher or author via NetGalley, booksirens, or goodreads giveaway in exchange for an honest review.

This is the second book in the First Comes Love Series. Julia wants nothing more than to raise her son and make a life for them. Garrett comes back to England, but wants nothing more than to go back out to sea. That is until he meets Julia, and then he wants nothing more than to take them with him when he sets sail again.

Meh. This romance lacked the spark that makes me fall in love. The two main characters didn’t have a lot of chemistry together and never got to know them as a couple. I felt the story centered on Julia too much and not on the romance. Nothing remarkable about this book as a romance. Writing was good and I like this author, but this one is my least favorite from her.

Amelia Grey has always been an author I have loved and adored over the years and it makes me so happy to see so many respond so well to her work. I read this last year and somehow missed writing the review. So I wanted to rectify that even if its not at the length or depth that I would prefer to give. There is a certain style that this author portrays in her books that is sweet perfection especially in the style that I prefer that regency and victorian era's be truly written. Gone With The Rogue is a sexy and witty story that will leave you on the edge all the way through. , I definitely didn't want this story to end and I was completely invested with this pairing.

I highly recommend this to any regency/victorian lover that are drawn to those stories that captivate you with wit and endearing charm.

Sadly I tried to read this book twice but couldn’t get into it. It was rather slow and I lost the motivation to keep going

This isn’t a book that I would give to someone as an exemplar of historical romance, but it was an enjoyable read. It’s the second one in the series, and although it’s decent as a stand-alone, it would probably be more enjoyable if I’d read the first one beforehand.

One of the main sticking points for me: It’s a bit unbelievable that she would toe the line with her father-in-law for 5 years, then risk everything five minutes after meeting a random hottie. I would have found it more believable if they’d had a history prior to her marriage.

3/5 stars

I really like this series that is based on three ladies left widowed after the sinking of a ship who then come together to create a girl's school. I really enjoyed the meet cute between Julia and Garrett. It was quirky, very original and definitely helped establish a bit of chemistry between the two. However, the chemistry never really got off the ground for me. It was just okay and there was minimal steam involved. There was also a bit of repetitive information throughout the story almost like information dump. If you're looking for a romance that's lighter on steam, this would be a good choice. The steamy scenes are fairly quick and not graphic or specific in detail. My favorite parts of the story were definitely the female friendships, the meet cute, and Lady Julia's little boy's character. Overall, this was a good romance with an entertaining meet cute and strong female friendships.

*Thank you so much to St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for allowing me the opportunity to read this digital ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Lady Kitson Fairbright is a widowed mother of a rambunctious young boy and is forced to live under the thumb of her former father-in-law. If she wants to keep custody of her son, she must follow the duke’s strict rules, including remaining unmarried and chaste. Enter Mr. Garrett Stockton, handsome, charming, and swoon-worthy, who tempts Lady Kitson to nearly forget she can’t have him.
A strong secondary plot forces them to work together to free her from the duke’s control. Their passion for each other is potent, with the love scenes sexy without being graphic. I think even lovers of sweet romance would enjoy the emotion in their embraces. The promise of a happy ending is satisfied in an epilogue, leaving the reader with a smile and a sigh. I truly enjoyed this book.

Thank you to Netgalley for this review copy.

Gone with the Rogue starts with Julia Fairbright being stuck up a tree after chasing, I believe a net. She isn’t expecting help to come in the form of a suitor returned from sea but from the moment they meet, she feels differently about him than she has all the other men in town. And he in turn never thought he’d find himself wanting to settle down merely for the love of a woman, not when the sea and the chance to own his childhood home has always called to him.

Julia, along with two of her friends, started a boarding school for girls that we learned about in the first book of this series and between that and raising her rambunctious 4-year-old Chatwyn, she quite literally has her hands full. Being a widow, Julia doesn’t really have much in the way of freedom - her father-in-law refuses to let her do anything for herself as he has a vindictive outlook towards women on account of his 2nd wife leaving him because he just sucks as a man.

Throughout the book, Julia and Garrett find themselves pulled to one another with the desire to help the other overcome their issues. They grow together as individuals and by the end of the book get their happy ending.

I really love this book series - this book stood out even more than the first one and I’m excited to see what book three has in store for Julia’s friend, Brina - especially now that she’s decided not to join the local convent and is bound to find love again.

Gone With the Rogue is the second installment in this series but is a novel that you can read on its own. I would recommend reading book one, it is a great novel and gives you a better insight to the characters history and connections. That being said, you will still be able to appreciate the story and follow along without having read book one.

In the opening of the novel, we are introduced to Julia. Julia is a widow with a young son, who is being controlled by her Father in law. She lives with the fear that she may lose her son at any time, a real fear especially during these times with the way women were viewed and treated. She loves her son more than anything else in the world and would do anything to ensure that he feels loved, protected and safe. She even sacrifices her own happiness and freedom to do so. That is until she discovers a secret that could set her free – her only problem, how does she prove the secret?

Enter the dashing Garrett, who has built himself quite the reputation whether it was fairly deserved or not. He is immediately attracted to Julia – he not only wants to protect her but to remind her how wonderful and deserving she is of her own happiness. When she goes to him for help, together they launch a plan to help secure her freedom and future. But will they succeed? Will their pasts come back to haunt them? Can they fight against the constraints of society?

This is a fun novel with some serious undertones of this time – the plight of a widowed Mother, the treatment of those deemed less worthy in society and a power imbalance. We are rooting for Julia to not only find her freedom and independence but to also find love that will not put her in a cage but instead celebrate who she is. It is well written, easy to read with well developed characters that you want to see succeed.

This was a sweet, but tame romance. Verging on dull at times. What redeems it is that the characters were well-written. It wasn’t a page-turner, but definitely an easy read.

I received an ARC for free from NetGalley and am leaving this review voluntarily.
