I loved Julia and Garrett's charming story. The reader can feel the chemistry coming off the page. The author writes so that the reader is right there with the characters.

“Gone with the Rogue” by Amelia Grey
I really, really, liked this story. A fun Regency romance with a bit of spice, an easy read that will keep you turning the pages for sure. I love stories where the characters seem plausible and I can enjoy sharing in their lives for the duration of the story. This is book 2 in the author’s ‘First Comes Love’ series but it can easily be read as a stand-alone adventure. A worthy read. Happy Reading ! !

Sadly, this wasn't my favorite book. I loved the cover and the story bio made an amazing sounding book, it just didn't deliver to my tastes. The story line was good, but having to hear about how the duke was threatening to take away her son every over page got old, fast. Julia was too pious for my tastes as well, I like a little more spirit in my heroines. When they made love, she was still calling him Mr Stockton in the story, not even his first name. The hero wasn't very stand out for me. There didn't seem to be much of a reason for him to instantly fall in love with her. The book just wasn't very appealing to me. Thank you for the opportunity to try the advanced copy from NetGalley.

Kindly provided with an ARC via Negalley in exchange for an honest review......

This was Julia and Garrett's tale. Julia and her son are living in their own personal hell courtesy of a tyrannical father in law. Garrett has gained his wealth and reputation as a sea man. He is unrepentant in his life style and has a (well for me anyway) a great "take me or leave me" attitude. Julia and Garrett meet in what I think are not the most usual of circumstances, however what follows this meeting of chance could very well be the blessing that Julia and her son need to escape their life. But can Julia take a chance on Garrett or will he not be able to weather the storm that surly lie ahead ?. Yup, you guessed it....you'll have to read this little gem to see.

Thanks Amelia for this gripping read and many thanks for this opportunity xx

Later peeps xxx

I received a pre-release copy through#NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

I really LOVED this book. My 5 star ratings are reserved for books I would read again, and this definitely qualifies.

The story starts in a tree with the heroine Julia in a predicament. It sets up a really great meet-cute for the hero Garrett.

Things get more interesting from there. The way this book is written really moves the story along without it being too fast or too slow. I appreciated the comrarderie of the two female friends: how they support each other, not only in the past but in the present, helping each other lead their best lives. So nice compared to so many "witchy" girl relationships!

Garrett is an owner of a shipping company who doesn't have any ties, until..... Yep. That's an easy one! I enjoyed how he gets there though, and his attention to Julia and her past hurts.

Very well written and worth the read. Steamy scenes are throughout, although their coming together takes a bit longer than other books (and there is a good plotline reason for it).

Excited to read more by this author!!

I have been a fan of Amelia Grey for a long time. I enjoyed this book but it was not my favorite. The story is about Julia Fairbright’s who is trying to create a proper life for herself and her young son after her husband died. Garrett Stockton owns a successful shipping company of course his likes Julia. The characters and the story were well developed.

I must have missed the first in this series but had no trouble enjoying this second one. It is a typical historical read with the women not having control of their romantic lives or finances. Ever since Julia Fairbright lost her husband at sea she has been forced to be sheltered by her father in law and threatened with the loss of her son if she even attempts for a future life. Garrett Stockton has made his fortune on the seas and has only returned to London to settle some business. His life takes a turn when he finds Julia perched in a tree. A copy of this book was provided by St. Martin's Press via NetGalley with no requirements for a review. Comments here are my honest opinion."

I couldn't stop reading this book. Loved Julia and Garret.
Storyline is wonderful.
So happy that I could read this book.

This book bored me and I couldn't even explain the reason why. Maybe I didn't like the two protagonists so much, maybe the plot was pretty obvious, maybe a set of many things, but I have to say that when I read the last page I was happy.

THANKS NETGALLEY FOR THE ARC!

Somewhat different historical romance with pretty heroine and dashing, damaged hero. I like that the heroine thinks for herself and the hero is understanding.

Book two of this series and it was delightful.
Full of intrigue and not small amount of romance, this book has a wondering plot and a happy ending.
Can't wait for the third installment of this series.

I really wanted to like this book but I found myself dragging through useless dialogue that didnt enhance the plot and I couldnt even finish it. For me this story fell flat, I thought the premise sounded great, the idea of the storyline-awesome but the writing of it- not so much. This was my second novel by Amelia Grey, I quite enjoyed her first in this series (The Earl Next Door) but this one just didnt cut it. Its predicable and a bit over the top, trying too hard to make up scenes to fill a space. I didnt like either main character and didnt feel their chemistry. Sorry, not the book for me.
I was supplied an ARC in exchange for my review

I requested to read and review this book Gone with the Rogue. This is the first book I have read by author Amelia Grey. The story takes place in the 1800. This book reminds me of a Harlequin and a Nantucket book put together. You will fall in love with Julia spirit and determination, Garrett will make you swoon and Chatwyn is a character all in himself. Romance, mystery and history is what you will come across in this book. I definitely recommend this book for mature readers.

Widow, Julia Kitson Fairbright is a mother and the daughter-in-law of a Duke who finds herself struck in a tree. Along comes Garrett Stockton to save her. The attraction between the pair is instant.

I enjoyed how this pair admitted their feelings for the other and acted upon them. Also there’s a little mystery/suspense. This is a very entertaining book,

I received an advance reader copy from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

Thank you net galley for an advance copy for an honest review. I have read other books by Amelia Grey and this one was good. The beginning of the book starts with Julia in a tree and Garrett saving her. Julia is trap by her father in law who seems to be a pillar of the community.
Garret is very rich and falls hard for Julia. He pledges to help her and her son to get away.
The story is interesting, but I was not drawn to the two main characters. I did enjoy reading it but not too invested in it.

Being stuck in a tree caught my attention in the beginning and it was milked for all it had. I like that the main character was a widow and protective mother. The rogue hero was only one by reputation as he is a working gentleman.
This was difficult to finish. The romance was flowery and the sexual attraction so strong that it became irritating. The confrontation with the antagonist at the end, while mostly satisfying, lacked something.
I won't read this again.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC from Netgalley.

Julia Fairbright is a widow with a son. She lives under her father-in-law's thumb. Julia longs for the freedom other widows have, but she knows one wrong move could cause the duke to take her son away. She is determined to shake loose of the duke once and for all.

Garrett Stockton is immediately enamored upon meeting Julia. He begins to see the appeal of settling down and Julia is the woman he wants. When Garrett senses Julia is in need of his aid, he sets out to help her in any way he can. Garrett is all in when it comes to Julia, but are his feelings reciprocated?

Author Amelia Grey's FIRST COMES LOVE series began with THE EARL NEXT DOOR and continues with GONE WITH THE ROGUE. I have yet to read the first, but after reading GONE WITH THE ROGUE, I'm sure I'll pick a copy up soon. I enjoyed the characters and the beginning of the story, but it kind of went downhill for me toward the middle. It did pick up in the end again, so that's why I'm giving it a 3.5 star rating. Julia is bold and outspoken and Garrett is strong and steady. Their relationship seemed a little rushed to me, but was still enjoyable. I really would have liked to see Garrett and Julia both interact with her son, Chatwyn, more. Some of her punishments seemed a little harsh to me... time out for an hour?! All in all, GONE WITH THE ROGUE, was a good read.

This is the second book in this lively and entertaining series. Appealing characters, amusing banter and an interesting plot make it a compelling and amusing read.

Three wealthy widows of men who went down in the sinking of the Salty Dove meet at the docks and decide to aid the families of the sailors who died, by opening a boarding school, The Seafarer's School for Girls, for the daughters of the lost men. The goal is to teach them reading, writing and sewing skills so they can find jobs when they are older. None of the ladies are eager to remarry women, Adeline, the Dowager Countess of Wake, did not have a happy marriage, Lady Kitson Fairbright, is held hostage by her father-in-law, the Duke of Sprogsfield, who threatens to take her son away from her, if she does not live up to his standards and even contemplates remarrying and only Mrs, Briba Feld was so in love with her husband that she can't contemplate ever having another man or children.

This story is about Lady Fairbright, Julie. She is young and of high spirits and at the beginning of the book finds herself caught in a tree, which she had climbed to rescue her butterfly net. To her rescue comes Mr. Garrett Stockton, wealthy rake who had shunned society to go into trade and build a shipping Empire. He left home at a young age to prove that a man can be both a tradesman and a gentleman, because living off the allowance of a distant relative was not for him. They quickly recognize their kindred spirit an adventurous spirit, but as a man, only Garrett had been free to explore it. He also sees that Julie is the one woman who would instill in him the desire for a family and home. But he also senses that she is in trouble, and vows that he will help. He convinces her to confine in him and together they find a scheme to free her from the Duke. But can he also convince her that marriage to him would not be just another prison?

Family relationships are explored and we also get to know Brina, the subject of the next book better. Her character, her feelings of despair and struggles how she can be useful the rest of her life.

I read an ARC from NetGalley.com. This is my voluntary and unbiased review.
