I have been provided with a review copy of A Tail for Two from NetGalley for an impartial review. This is the second book in the Fur Haven Dog Park series and I just loved getting to reenter this world. I was just drawn into this wonderful story and I just couldn’t get enough of it. It was just so easy to get lost in this great story. I can’t wait to see what’s next from this author.

Unfortunately, this was a DNF for me at about 60%, which I rarely do. I liked the premise of the story and really enjoyed Lance's character, however, there was nothing remotely likable about Carrie which made it impossible for me to care about the outcome of this story. Also, although it didn't specify that book 1 in the Fur Haven Dog Park series should be read prior to reading this, I believe things would have made much more sense if I had already read that book. Lastly, it's coined as a romantic comedy, but I honestly didn't even find a reason for a little chuckle. Sorry but this one just didn't work for me.

*Thanks to NetGalley for providing this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

The second book in this series.
Will it be a second chance romance for Carrie and Lance, or will the secrets she kept mean that Lance can never forvgive her?

A great read.

I really enjoyed the first book in this series, but this book felt a bit flat to me. I’m not sure why, but it just didn’t grab me the way the first book.

This was an absolutely awesome story and it captured my interest from the very first scene and until the last page I could not put it down. The only objection I had to it was that Lance and Carrie don't actually get together until the 2nd to last chapter of the book so its very much a slow burn romance.

This is a 2nd chance at love, exes working together as well as a secret baby twist with a former married couple.

Lance and Carrie were in love and married but both never wanted kids and were workaholics. They divorced about 3 years before and live in the same South Florida town but never have run into each other and until they have an adorable meet cute at the park where Lance meets his long lost dog and the child he never knew he had with his ex. And so starts their new relationship 2.0.

A big issue in this story is Lance's anger vs his love for Carrie over her not telling him about his child but I really didn't blame her. I felt at times he should have owned up to why he was never told. And I felt the author really was on Carrie's case by not telling him, but the truth is that Lance never gave her a chance to tell him. In fact her mother called him over and over and over and told him he needed to call Carrie and he refused to call her. He had a really big role in that and I was a bit angry at him for treating her the way he did when he was that awful to her as well.

I had one other issue and that is that I felt that Lance was a cheater at one time in the story. It was kinda glossed over and not discussed and no resolution was made about it but for me it gave my sympathy to Carrie and not to Lance. Carrie and Lance reunite for one night after the divorce and he wants her back but she says "dont worry I won't tell your girlfriend." To me that signified that he cheated on said girlfriend. Months later Carrie goes to tell him she is pregnant and the girlfriend he cheated on answers the door with an engagement ring on her finger. And so she doesnt share the news. I honestly felt she was justified in not sharing that especially since it made it seem like he was absolutely a cheater. Later in the story he explains the relationship but he was not blameless in why he was not told and so I felt he was way to harsh on Carrie.

That said I loved this story. I loved how Lance still loves her and I loved that him stating that does not win her over. I felt she was very justified with her fears about Lance and honestly I would not have taken him back with the way he treated her at times. So I loved how she made him really chase her and prove that he was all in or not. Carrie is a strong woman and I loved that she stayed strong throughout the story and tortured Lance a bit. But I also loved her honesty. She is the one who lets Lance know that it is his son, even if she knew how she would make him angry with her.

I really loved this story and how its filled with close family and friends. It was absolutely wonderfully written and a story I could not put down.

Carrie and Lance 2nd chance romance story. A sweet story, with humor, dogs and a funny almost 3 year old. Hard to put this one down. Highly recommend this book and author.
