I loved The Simple Wild so so much. It blew me away. I could not wait to read Wild at Heart. That being said. I liked it, but didn't love it as much as I thought I would.

Moving to Alaska and changing her whole life must have been hard for Calla. This book examined that aspect of he story of Calla and Jonah's story. I wish there was more romance,

Ugh. Where do I begin? This was everything I thought I needed and more. Spoiler alert: This is a sequel to The Simple Wild, so if you haven’t read TSW, then a) go grab it now and b) don’t read this review til you’re done the first book. This sequel was frustrating as heck and swoon-worthy at the same time. KA Tucker beautifully gave us a realistic look at Calla and Jonah’s life post-HEA, and though I didn’t have much faith in Calla’s blinded-by-love ways, I’m so glad that KA Tucker included everything that she did. This book depicted what life is like after the honeymoon phase of a relationship is over and what happens when people throw themselves into an all-consuming love. Wild at Heart is much more than just fighting for the love of your life; it’s about not losing yourself in someone, creating your own place in your life, putting yourself out there, stepping outside of your comfort zone, and building connections and a community. One of the elements that I loved from The Simple Wild was the way that the secondary characters shone. They had such a prominent place in the story, that I felt like I personally knew each and every one of them. KA Tucker definitely continued this through Wild at Heart, giving me characters that I was so invested in getting to know more. I highly recommend these two books, because they will emerge you into this beautiful, real Alaskan world that you won’t want to crawl out of.

Wild At Heart is the second book in the Alaska Wild series by the wonderful KA Tucker. Continuing the journey of Calla and Jonah as they venture forward in their life together, readers are blessed with a beautifully written, emotional and heartwarming story that will bring forth the question - is love simply enough to conquer all?

We return to Alaska at the beginning of Wild At Heart where Calla has made her new life with Jonah. Moving across the state to their own piece of paradise, they face obstacles along the way both as a couple and individually. Jonah is flying his planes, with their own plane charter company underway while Calla slowly, but definitely not surely, finds her feet in their new home and with the townsfolk she gets to know.

There is no doubt that Wild At Heart is a romance, a love story that oozes chemistry between Calla and Jonah, with the couple being madly in love, and I just love this! I’m all for romance and Wild At Heart made my heart full with Calla and Jonah’s love for one another. But what really makes this book so special is Calla’s journey of self-discovery, her personal growth and the relationships she develops with others, especially her new friends in the town, along the way. Ms Tucker does not make Calla and Jonah’s relationship easy for them, they have to work at it, compromise and face obstacles which they may not have anticipated. This makes Wild At Heart real, at times raw and a very addictive read.
I smiled and had laugh out loud moments throughout the story, and at times I had tears and felt genuine empathy for the characters, both main characters and secondary characters. I loved the relationship Calla develops with her neighbour, as well as the continuing long-distance interactions and insights from Aggie, still living in Bangor with Mabel and finding her own peace after the death of Wren in The Simple Wild.
Wild At Heart was a very anticipated book for me in 2020, and as a sequel i was nervous about reading it as I love The Simple Wild so much. Let me just say, Wild At Heart exceeded my expectations and I applaud KA Tucker for bringing her readers back to Alaska to follow Calla and Jonah’s love journey. A beautifully scenic location, a goat, a surly neighbour and a few twists and turns and you have Wild At Heart, a 5 star plus read for me that I recommend to all contemporary romance fans. I believe it is a more fulfilling read to enjoy The Simple Wild first rather than read Wild At Heart as a standalone, however Ms Tucker does give her readers enough info and an insight of the story in The Simple Wild that this could be read as a standalone if you so choose.
Thank you to the author, Social Butterfly PR and Net Galley for the early copy I received, this is an honest review and all opinions are my own.

❝I fell in love with a sky cowboy.❞

How do you feel about sequels? To be honest, they rarely meet my expectations. This is especially true when that previous story made my Top Favorites of the Year list. You'd think that by now, I'd learn to either lower my expectations or not read the next book, but I suppose I'm a glutton for punishment. So you can imagine my delight when I read 'Wild at Heart' and LOVED it! It was not only the exception, but it was THE PERFECT continuation of Jonah and Calla's story from 'The Simple Wild'. I cannot sing its praises enough!

Calla and Jonah move to a remote area in Alaska. On their isolated 100 acres, they have an airstrip for Jonah's airplanes, a home, a garden, a goat, and a place for their raccoon. The scenery is stunning and serene.

❝It's the day to day stuff that makes a real marriage,❞

It was a joy watching Jonah branch out and come into his own. But it was the journey that Calla took, that stole the show. She had always been a strong character, but that was when she felt she had a bit of control or a way out. When the newness and charm begin to wear off, Calla is left to figure out who she is and how she's going to make Alaska her new home. What part of her will she bring to this town? How is she going to survive here, alone, while Jonah is gone hours at a time, fighting fires and gone for weeks on end, while flying for Big Game Alaska? Also, Tucker does a fabulous job giving us insight into the struggles this community faces. From the isolation to the brutally cold winters, Tucker shows how important a support system and strong community are to their survival.

❝I will always find ways back to you.❞

We get to meet a whole new cast of characters; Muriel, Todd, Teddy, and Roy. They were brilliantly written, and spin-offs could easily be written about each of them. And I am dying to learn about Teddy and Muriel's story - to learn how Muriel got to be the spitfire she is. I also want Todd's story to develop and for him to live his perfect life. But it is Roy whose happy ending I crave. The curmudgeon not only grew on Calla, but he grew on me, too.

These are the types of stories where Tucker's brilliance as a writer shines; stories about family, about commitment, and about fighting for each other. Stories about real-life struggles, everyday worries, and love. She delves into them, studies them, and brings them to life.

'Wild at Heart' was funny, charming, tender, heart-warming, and passionate; simply put, it was beautifully written.

After reading The Simple Wild in January, I couldn’t wait for Wild at Heart to be released. The Simple Wild stole my heart…. The setting, the characters, the relationships, and the realness that came with Calla repairing her relationship with her father captivated me in a very special way. The story is one that will stay with me for a long time and getting the sequel the following month was just so darn exciting!
First of all, Wild at Heart is a true sequel and one that can’t be read as a standalone. So, if you haven’t read The Simple Wild, start there. What I love about Wild at Heart starts with the setting… the Alaskan wild, the charm and beauty of the wilderness, the animals, the garden, the snow, the mountains, and the farmhouse all felt so real. I think because it’s so vastly different from my Kentucky home that I am drawn to the life Jonah and Calla created in Alaska. The next thing is the characters…. We have some of our characters from the Simple Wild but also some new characters that add great depth to the continuation of the story. Tucker creates realistic, strong characters that I find relatable. I know many have said that they lacked connection with Calla, but I had the opposite experience…. I could relate to her on many levels and found the same in Wild at Heart. Though others often judge her for a girl that lacks depth, intelligence and strength, she surprises her new community in this book and proves her good intentions, how smart and driven she is and how much she cares about the ones she loves. And her and Jonah continue to grow in this as well. Their connection is magnetic, and it is felt through the pages. Highly recommend this beautiful story about love against odds, family, relationships, forgiveness, and determination. Thank you for the opportunity to read an advanced copy of this beautiful book!!!!!

Huge thanks to Social Butterfly PR and the author for offering me the chance to read an early copy of this book!

*this review might contain spoilers*

Let me start off by saying I am usually not the biggest fan of sequels, but I believe this one was definitely needed after how The Simple Wild ended! When I found out that Tucker was writing this novel I screamed with happiness. Calla and Jonah have become my favourite literary couple ever and the idea of reading about the story of some of the challenges they faced later on in their relationship was very enticing!

Wild At Heart follows the next steps Calla and Jonah took in order to stay together. If you’ve read The Simple Wild, you know how it ended, and we just needed answers! I’m glad we found out that Calla moved all the way to Alaska in order to stay with Jonah and I appreciated her dedication to living in the land of cold and grim. It was a lot of fun reading about her hilarious encounters with the locals in Trapper’s Crossing and following her on an epic adventure in Alaska. I loved how Jonah took care of her while also dedicating his time to work. I know at some point Calla became very upset with Jonah leaving her alone, which stirred me a bit. The way in which she expected him to always be home with her seemed like a selfish move and it didn’t sit well with me. This was the reason it took me a while to write this review and I’d been sitting on my original rating of 5 stars and kept thinking about this aspect of the book.

On the other hand, I completely understand why Calla felt this way and upon deeper reflection, I decided that her story was very much similar to my own. If you’re not familiar with it, I moved to Mexico for 6 months back in August. My reason for moving there was the same as Calla’s - to be with our boyfriends and keep building our relationships. Just like Calla, I felt lonely, angry, I considered going back home to my family, I didn’t have any friends. Just like her, I was upset when I couldn’t spend more time with my boyfriend. But at the same time I realised how important it is for us to spend time separately doing the things we love as they also help us build our relationship. In the book, I feel that their separate hobbies and activities also brought them closer together, especially after the incident. This novel also taught me how important it is to keep a conversation going with your loved ones, especially with your partner. Withholding doubts and

In the end, I feel like the events that occurred in the book have made Calla realise that Alaska was home, that she had people there who she could count on, and most of all, she had Jonah. As with any Tucker book, the story came full circle and ended on a very positive note. Her characters are always so well written with their back stories thought through to the very last detail. I enjoyed reading about Muriel, Toby and even grumpy Roy.

But aside from physical characters, the one thing I enjoyed the most in the book was Alaska itself. I have always been interested in the Last Frontier and life over there and this series has portrayed it perfectly. I almost wish there were more descriptions of the landscape as I am absolutely in love with it.

Overall, I am sticking to my original 5 star rating. I enjoyed the sequel and reading about old and new characters alike. Do I think we need a third book? No. This series ended on a note where I really don’t think we need another book with their stories, but I’d love to read something about either Agnes or Roy and wish those two characters were explored in a bit more detail.

The Simple Wild is one of top favorite books of all times, so I was equally excited and scared for this sequel. It is not easy for an author to write a great follow up after an amazing start but this couple needed it and K.A. Tucker made it a beautiful reality. Wild at Heart is back with our favorite couple but this book is more about the heroine’s growth than everything else. I would say that this book is more woman’s fiction than romance but it is beautifully written.

Calla and Jonah are more in love than ever but when she follows him back to Alaska, their relationship cannot be the only focus. Jonah is trying to provide everything for her but he leaves her a lot alone, so she has to learn to embrace the wilderness of the place.

Calla really touched me with her attitude. When we met her at book one she was a spoiled princess. Now, she is mature and honest even when she makes mistakes. She finds her place in the hostile but enchanting environment finding new friends and making new connections.

Jonah is still the blunt and direct man but he shows his vulnerabilities and his deep love for the city girl.

Although, the focus of the book is Calla, the moments they spend together are sizzling. Their relationship gets more meaningful and truer. I would have loved to see them more together but even those scenes between them are satisfying. They open their souls and their hearts.

The author’s writing is vivid that makes you live the story. You become a part of these characters and the scenery. There has not been an author that has made me want more to visit a place based on the descriptions.

I could read endlessly about Jonah and Calla! Wild at Heart made me crave more about this lovely couple and the idyllic Alaska!

I hope you've all read THE SIMPLE WILD! This 2nd book is a sequel - you really should've read the first one before starting this one! It's not 100% necessary, but it would just be insane to miss out on the amazing first book!!☺

WiLD AT HEART starts four days after the first book ended.
We all remember how Jonah came to Toronto to ask Calla to come back to Alaska with him.
And she asked him for some time to think.
But of course we don't need much time - we're doing this!!
We're moving to Alaska to be with our hot angry yeti!
But of course going from being a spoiled city girl to living in the Alaskan wilderness is not the easiest thing for our Calla.
Will she give up and go back home to be spoiled in Toronto by her mom and step-dad Simon?

READ THE BOOK TO FIND OUT ☺

Ugh! I loved it!
I was sooo looking forward to reading this book. Even though I didn't really need it. I was pretty happy with the first book. I could've lived with that ending. But of course we always want more - I always want endless epilogues. And that is kind of what we get here. The MORE after THE END. The answers to questions we ask ourselves after almost every book we read! We never get that! I just love that Kathleen wrote this!
Only it's not this one little happily ever after epilogue. Not yet at least. We have a long way to go and lots of problems and arguments and animals and whatnots to overcome until there might be a HEA on the horizon!
But the reader loves every single word of Calla and Jonah's journey to that happy end!
I just adored this book! I felt like being right there with Calla. Decorating their house, harvesting strawberries, chasing or running from goats and dogs and bugs and bears!
But of course we also know that Jonah can't be with her 24/7 - he has a new company to run and he's gone a lot. Will Calla survive alone in a place full of bears and crumpy neighbors and their wolf-dogs?
LOL! We sure hope so, because Calla & Jonah just belong together. But we don't want either of them to give up too much of their hopes and dreams to get that happily ever after.

AMAZING ROMANCE!
It was like a Calla-diary or one of her blog posts. We get lots of Jonah & romance too, but of course we focus mainly on Calla and how she survives her new life with new challenges and new friends and frenemies. It wasn't the Bianca-cries-all-through-the-book thingy like the first one - but I did shed some tears! ☺ Some readers might've hoped for something a little different, but I really loved reading this. It was just so very beautiful. I never wanted it to end!

OK - that's it - what more should I say?! If you read and loved the first book - you will definitely read and love this one and if you haven't read the first one...what are you doing reading this review anyway?! ☺

WiLD AT HEART was such a beautiful Alaska romance!
A what-happens-after-The-End kind of encore for all fans of Calla & Jonah! And I loved every single moment of it!
Run to your nearest amazon for your own Jonah - this one is mine!

This sequel did not disappoint! Excuse me while I continue to fan myself. My nerves: good lord and Jonah …did I say Jonah?!

Sorry Joshua Templeman from The Hating Game, it’s not you its me. That was me breaking up with my book boyfriend. He’s been replaced by the Yeti!

First, if you haven’t read The Simple Wild by K.A. Tucker you need to go do that. Then you will NEED the sequel Wild at Heart like you need oxygen. I am not being dramatic, you’ll see. Don’t read any further if you want to read The Simple Wild. Come back when you’re done reading to thank me!

In Wild at Heart, Calla can love Jonah all she wants but if Calla isn’t happy with anything else in her life…well Jonah can only be so much, and that’s when he’s even around. Are they doomed like Calla’s parents? Wild at Heart is Calla’s journey in finding her happiness; we just aren’t sure if that is Alaska…I mean bears, wolves, mosquitos, moose, guns, crotchety neighbors, loneliness…Alaska isn’t sounding so hot.

I LOVED the sequel. It was just as good as the first and I am so happy with how it turned out…although it had me holding my breathe one too many times I was SO nervous!

The story is realistically authentic (this makes sense to me, even if I find it odd to repeat this phrase over and over making sure it sounds right). The chemistry is electric and the new supporting characters hold their own. It also makes me want a pet raccoon. 😉

My 2 ¢: who I think should play Jonah & Calla in a movie (Alexander Skarsgard & Nina Dobrev):

There are few better feelings than reuniting old friends - which is exactly how it felt when reading Wild at Heart. A Simple Wild was an amazing emotional roller coaster, and while Wild at Heart didn't have as much of a pull on the heart strings, but it truly felt like a catch up with an old friend. We get an inside look on how our beloved Calla and Jonah start their lives together in the wide open depths of Alaska. We get to watch them purchase their first home, navigate through the opening of their business, new neighbours and new friends. I enjoyed how real Calla's experiences were, as well as her valid her thoughts and feelings - no sugar coating here! Wild at Heart is everything fans of Simple Wild want and need - the only problem? Honestly, I want more!! Three book series maybe? :)

I remember closing the cover of A Simple Wild and wishing there was more of Calla and Jonah. This is that more, my wish came true. Calla is the city girl trying to find her way in the wilderness of Alaska while navigating a newer romance. Though Jonah and Calla have been a great match from the start they have their differences and working out the differences in Alaska is a bit more difficult add in Jonah's need to be flying the skies as often as possible and life can be quickly turned into things you never expected.
I have forever been obsessed with Alaska so reading about life there is fascinating to me. I can see myself in Calla and her wants for exploration but feeling so separate from the world, trying to make something of yourself and build a life with someone you love. This book is one I will go back to again and again.

I loved this book! It was so great to go back and see where life was going to take Calla and Jonah! This book has Calla moving to Alaska to be with Jonah. You see her struggle with life in Alaska, but she's still willing to do what it takes to make this relationship work. They're were a bunch of new characters we get meet, and learn about their pasts, that they become friends with! Calla and Jonah are building their lives together and dealing with whatever comes their way! I loved this sequel just as much as the first book!

After reading the first book over the summer, I wanted more of Calla and Jonah and their Alaskan romance. What I love most about book one was the evolution of Calla so I was hoping that would carry over and we wouldn’t start back with this superficial princess.

Everyone she has evolved; she still likes her nice things, but hey I respect it! Her relationship with Jonah felt like a whirlwind so I liked that Tucker humbled it down. When you move somewhere for someone there is going to be a mixed bag of emotions. Relationships aren’t easy despite what some books tell you. Tucker really got down to the heart of a relationship and I loved it.

I also enjoyed all the supporting cast that was thrown in to create this world (though I could do without the vet lol). Overall this was a sweet success with just the right amount of steam!

I have had such a hard time forming thoughts on this one. It was amazing! I didn’t want it to end. It was so good. If you have read The Simple Wild, you have to pick this one up immediately!

The Simple Wild was one of my favorite romance novels last year. I loved Calla and Jonah’s banter. And bush pilot Jonah was SO dreamy! And I loved this book just as much. It was so fun to revisit these old friends and pick up where The Simple Wild left off! If you haven’t read these two books, run out and grab them. Both are available now!! .

RATING: 4/5 STARS

This was an enjoyable sequel to THE SIMPLE WILD. I loved getting back into Calla and Jonah's world in Alaska. KA Tucker kept Calla and Jonah's personalities so alive and distinct in this novel. Calla is a relatable narrator that you feel like you'd like to be friends with in real life. And Jonah keeps her and the readers on our toes. I thought their struggles were realistic and true to their characters. Life isn't perfect, even after the happy-ever-after, so it was really refreshing to read about their conflicts and how they resolved them. Other strengths of this novel were the new supporting characters. Muriel, Toby, and Roy were interesting additions to Calla's life. By the end of the book, I learned to appreciate them even when some were prickly to begin with. I love that KA Tucker's writing makes you see the best in somewhat difficult and stubborn characters. Overall, I adored WILD AT HEART. The Alaskan setting is beautiful, and the characters in this series feel like home.

A sincere thanks to KA Tucker and Social Butterfly PR for providing an advanced reading copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I absolutely LOVED The Simple Wild and all of the angst between Calla and Jonah. Enemies to lovers romances are my favorite and that combined with Calla reconnecting with her father made me an emotional mess. I could not wait to see how their story would continue in this book!

While we got angst and enemies in book one, this book was just....domestic? And I didn't care. We get half of this book about Calla shopping for furniture for her house. Seriously? There was not a lot of the angsty romance I wanted and I really started not to like Calla. She complained the whole time, wouldn't communicate with Jonah, and would not figure out how to make a life for herself separate from a man. She knew living in Alaska would be hard and didn't really try to make a life for herself there; she depended on Jonah and threw a fit when he was busy flying, which SHE TOLD HIM TO DO.

The only thing I enjoyed about this book was Calla's relationship with Roy. That was so sweet and the only relationship I actually cared about throughout the story. Calla and Jonah weren't really interacting a lot and we didn't get their adorable bickering. This book felt so much more like women's fiction to me and I just didn't care a majority of the time. I barely felt any romance and Calla was annoying when she would get jealous and possessive and angry at Jonah. While I will continue to love book one, I could have done without this book.

I loved this so much! Thx @katucker_ for THE ARC 🙌🏻 I loved jumping back into life in Alaska with Calla and Jonah. At first I was a little frustrated with both of them because it seemed like Jonah was just doing his thing and Calla was being complacent. I was like, “BE A TEAM! AHHHH!” I enjoyed the town folk and how they were woven into the story. Ugh I’d forgotten how much I disliked Marie until she showed up again. Roy turned out to be one of my absolute favorites. It’s been a while since I’ve gotten read a true sequel to a book, I feel like everything is a series with a rotating featured couple but nothing really follows the same couple for more than a book so I appreciated this. ONE MORE BOOK, PERHAPS?!

Since reading The Simple Wild I have been nervously anticipating the sequel, hoping to venture back into the Alaskan terrain with Calla and Jonah while simultaneously worrying that the predeceasing book would not live up to the original.
Boy, was I wrong!
K.A. Tucker knows how to write romance. Seriously, there were parts of this book where I quite literally swooned over the chemistry between the two main characters. This book dealt a lot with Calla and Jonah making sense of their life together in Alaska and ultimately learning to live with each other despite their many differences.
I really enjoyed seeing Calla create her own path in her new surroundings, which included getting to know some of the locals and learn more about what it means to live in a tight knit community.
While I could have used more Jonah in this book, it was without a doubt a 5 star read for me that I had a hard time putting down.

Wild at Heart by KA Tucker is the most beautiful book I have read in 2020. I know it’s still early to call it but this is one of my absolute favorites of 2020. We always read up to the HEA but do we ever dive into the work that makes it stay an HEA? Wild at Heart does just that. This is the sequel to The Simple Wild another must read. KA Tucker sets a romance against the wild, unrestrained beauty of Alaska. Calla must discover if she can live in the wilderness and flourish. Or will Jonah and Calla ultimately crash and burn? This is a journey into new places, new relationship boundaries and new character I absolutely adored.
