“Rings and a ceremony … that’s all for show. It’s the day-to-day stuff that makes a real marriage, and out here where the winters are long and cold, you don’t wanna be at odds with your other half, believe me. You’ll need him.”
~K.A. Tucker, Wild at Heart

It’s pretty rare to find a sequel based fully on the same characters, picking up right where they left off in the previous book, and have it done really well. Too often, I’ve faced disappointment at the story just not “feeling the same” as the previous book, and I miss the magic of the original story. So, when K.A. Tucker announced that she was writing the sequel to The Simple Wild, a story that I loved with all my heart and soul, I was equal parts excited and nervous.

Well, I am here to tell you that there was absolutely no reason to be nervous, because once again Queen Tucker NAILS IT! I loved Wild at Heart so very much, and it was such a wonderful experience connecting with Calla and Jonah again. I truly felt as if there had been no gaps in the story, and we were just seamlessly continuing their journey. They were the same feisty, lovable characters, and the magic between them was so real, my friends. There also was so much beautiful depth developed in not only their relationship, but in Calla’s personal journey as she finds her place among her neighbors and truly begins to discover herself in this new world.

I also felt that K.A. did an amazing job sharing the reality of the struggles a couple would face when starting to create a life together in a new place. I loved how they worked to come together and find their identities in this new normal. It was such a joy to spend time with Calla and Jonah again, and I’m so grateful to K.A. Tucker for continuing their story. This was the perfect conclusion to an incredible story!

I was so excited when I saw we were getting another book about Calla and Jonah. The minute this book landed on my kindle I dove in and couldn’t stop. I loved the first book The Simple Wild just as much as Wild at Heart. K.A. Tucker delivered a phenomenal story with flawless writing.

This book picks up where the first one ended and I’m so glad it did. Calls and Jonah are ready to start their life together in Alaska. They moved to a house in the woods complete with its own airstrip. Things are going pretty good for Jonah while it takes Calla a little while to figure things out. Alaska is the last place she thought she would ever live.

I loved seeing all these characters again and getting to meet new ones. I loved everything about this book and and can’t recommend enough. The Simple Wild and Wild at Heart are must reads!

That's the perfect sentence to describe it. I fell in love with Jonah and Calla's story over and over again! The Simple Wild is one of my favorite books ever and I love rereading it, so when K.A. Tucker announced the sequel I couldn't be more thrilled about it.

"𝑰𝒕’𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔. 𝑰𝒕’𝒔 𝒖𝒔. 𝑰𝒕’𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒔𝒘𝒆𝒍𝒍 𝒐𝒇 𝒆𝒎𝒐𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒚 𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒆 𝑱𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒉 𝒇𝒊𝒓𝒔𝒕 𝒘𝒂𝒍𝒌𝒔 𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒐 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒓𝒐𝒐𝒎, 𝒊𝒕’𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒊𝒎𝒑𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝑰 𝒇𝒆𝒆𝒍 𝒘𝒉𝒆𝒏𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝒉𝒆’𝒔 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒂𝒓𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒅, 𝒊𝒕’𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒘𝒂𝒚 𝒎𝒚 𝒉𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒕 𝒔𝒌𝒊𝒑𝒔 𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒚 𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒆 𝑰 𝒎𝒂𝒌𝒆 𝒉𝒊𝒎 𝒍𝒂𝒖𝒈𝒉."

Wild at Heart starts just when The Simple Wild ends and we aboard in this new adventure of Jonah&Calla's relationship and the struggles that comes in their lives together. The importance of family and support in each others is still palpable. When the reality of the changes strucks Calla, she's force to fight her fears while trying not to lose herself in the process. Not everything in a relationship is perfect, and I love seeing how this unfolds for them and how they listened and had a great communication most of the time.
Emotions fly from K.A tucker's flawless writing. The love with which she writes this one is remarkable and made my eyes watered. Old faces make appearances and new characters are delightful to read. You get to love every one in this small town, animals included, its impossible not to.

"𝑰𝒕’𝒔 𝒔𝒕𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒆 𝒉𝒐𝒘 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒓𝒆𝒍𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔𝒉𝒊𝒑 𝒄𝒂𝒏 𝒇𝒆𝒆𝒍 𝒊𝒎𝒑𝒆𝒏𝒆𝒕𝒓𝒂𝒃𝒍𝒆 𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒅𝒂𝒚 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒗𝒖𝒍𝒏𝒆𝒓𝒂𝒃𝒍𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒏𝒆𝒙𝒕— 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒂 𝒎𝒊𝒔𝒖𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒊𝒏𝒈, 𝒂 𝒇𝒆𝒘 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒅𝒔, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒂 𝒎𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒕𝒂𝒊𝒏 𝒐𝒇 𝒓𝒆𝒑𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒆𝒅 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒇𝒊𝒏𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒚 𝒔𝒘𝒆𝒍𝒍 𝒕𝒐 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒔𝒖𝒓𝒇𝒂𝒄𝒆."

I adored to be back in Alaska with all of them. I keep replaying every scene as if I was there because it was that realistic. J&C will forever have a piece of me. I'm going to need more.

Calla's and Jonah's story continues in this much-anticipated sequel! To be honest I had hoped for one after the ending of the first book and I was glad that K.A. Tucker delved more into their story! Th story is told in months and shows both the beauty and the hardships of living in Alaska and how both characters try to settle and overcome their struggles.

And it was also exciting to see the other characters that complemented this amazing story of love and slightly adventure.

"Wild at Heart" was an amazing book and I can't recommend it enough!

Wild at heart picks up where the simple wild leaves off. Calla decides to uproot her life in Toronto to be with her yeti in Alaska. Wild at heart follows their adventures and the trials they face as Calla adapts to the Alaskan life style for life.

This story has everything to keep you wanting more all the way to the end. By mixing old and new characters it gives the story a fresh feeling that a lot of sequels in fiction tend to miss. I love how K.A. Tucker has a way of making you feel like you know a story will go but then she will suddenly throw you off and make you question if things will resolve or if it will end cliff-hanger type of feeling. Either way you always want more of her couples and with this novel you actually get it. This story is real, raw romance and relationships put into a story in the finest way. And just like the simple wild it may leave you wanting to check out Alaska even more than before.

I loved every second and couldn’t put it down.

I received an advanced copy exchange from netgalley and the author in exchange for an honest review

If you read The Simple Wild, you will not be disappointed with part two of Jonah and Calla. (If you haven’t read The Simple Wild, I’d recommend checking that one out first! I loved this second trip to Alaska and following more of their story. I also really enjoyed the new characters that were introduced and their stories. And I may have chuckled a time or two over the fainting goat 😂⁣

For those who prefer cleaner reads, there is definitely some language and some steam in this one. Most of the steam is alluded to/fade to black, not really graphic and easy to skim over, but it is certainly there. I like to mention that because I always appreciate knowing ahead of time. ⁣

Thanks to @netgalley @socialbutterfly_pr and @katucker_ for my gifted copy.

So much was riding on this book, I loved The Simple Wild and was so excited and nervous for this sequel! Because what if it didn’t live up to my ridiculous expectations.

The reason I was nervous reading this book was because I didn’t want anything bad to happen! I was worried for them, I knew I’d get a HEA however, I was stressed about the process. But let me tell you it’s all worth it! I loved that this was a book about working through the tough and stressful moments, but there were lots of funny moments too (Calla's goat mauling story). About remembering that at the end of the day you get the choice to keep choosing your partner/spouse, through the good and bad, that you are part of the same team!

I loved watching the growth in both Jonah and Calla. At times it was heart wrenching but oh so good as they stumbled through. Jonah’s unwavering faith in them was a beautiful thing to behold. I love that he owned his mistakes and didn’t shove Calla’s in her face!

Callas was always so sure about them, but not so much about their situation. Her need to not be like her mom, ended up in some ways becoming a trap for her that, while she desperately tried to avoid, she stumbled into it anyway. Her growth in this book was amazing, watching her go from determination to make it work, to despair, to determination again and then to the future.

I just loved how the secondary cast of characters supports and lifted them up, especially her when she needed it. The grumpy neighbor is just the best and exactly what Calla needed to help her find home!

You will not regret reading this sequel!

Thank you so much to SocialButterfly PR and K.A Tucker for an Advanced Copy in exchange for an honest review.

As much as I loved The Simple Wild (it was one of my favorite books of 2018), I absolutely adored its sequel, Wild at Heart. Heading back to Alaska for more of Calla and Jonah was such a decadent treat, primarily because it is written by a storyteller as gifted as KA Tucker.

Wild at Heart picks up where The Simple Wild ends, with Jonah in Toronto with Calla, declaring his love and asking her to consider moving to Alaska to be with him. Once the decision is made, they go all-in on finding their own slice of heaven in the wilds of Alaska. To say that it is an adjustment for Calla would be an (understandable) understatement.

Alaska’s breathtaking scenery and potentially life-threatening wildlife make the most beautiful backdrop for the love story that unfolds in Wild at Heart. However, coming to terms with the brutal reality of living in Alaska is a hard lesson for Calla to learn. Not only that, being so far away from her family and friends while struggling to find a purpose outside of being Jonah’s girlfriend is also a tough learning experience for her.

Jonah and Calla’s relationship may experience growing pains, but their evolution – both individually and as a couple – is so realistic and satisfying to see. Their chemistry and their connection are so powerful, you can’t help but root for them the whole time. Despite the bumps in the road, they get to have an adventure of a lifetime and come out stronger on the other side.

Tucker also introduces several new secondary characters in the sequel. They are all hilarious in their own way and so entertaining that I would totally love to read more of their stories in the future.

If you loved The Simple Wild as much as I did, do yourself a favor and read Wild at Heart. The grumpy Yeti will melt your heart with his swoony sweetness and seeing Calla mature along the way just adds to the perfection that is this story. If you haven’t read this duet yet, I can’t recommend it enough!

*Warning: this review contains spoilers.

It was so nice to rekindle with Calla and Jonah. K.A. Tucker is an absolutely amazing writer! She did an incredible job painting such vivid pictures of Alaska and it's beauty.

What worked for me:
▪Roy 😊 he was the perfect addition to this story. I looked forward to his and Calla's visits and conversations so much.
▪The surprises...
▪Jonah makes me smile. He is so humble and selfless and laid back. ❤

What fell short:
▪The romance 🙈 I wanted that same steam from The Simple Wild and it just was not there. I knew as soon as any bit of 🔥 was coming, the chapter was ending.
▪The whining. Calla was way too whiny and high maintenance (for me.) I feel like at the end of The Simple Wild - Calla was aware of the Alaskan lifestyle Jonah lived and when she agreed to move, she knew! But it seemed like she fell back into her large city lifestyle and wasn't giving any chance for the adjustment.

Lastly, I am secretly hoping for one more book. I would love to know how Christmas went. Was Roy at the table too? What does Simon think of Calla's soon to be in-laws 😏😂 What is the future look like for The Yeti?

Thank you so much to K.A. Tucker and Social Butterfly PR for the eARC. As always, all reviews are my own.

The Yeti and Barbie are back!!

I'm a huge KA Tucker fan! I have been since I first read Ten Tiny Breaths.
I was shocked to find out she was writing a sequel to The Simple Wild. No complaints here though. I loved reading about Calla and Jonah in the first book and to have even more of them made me happy.
This book continues a few months after the Simple Wild, which is a must read before reading this one. It continues on with the story and there's not much back story so you end up getting so much more of them in this book.
I laughed, I cried, even a little scared at the outcome of some of the events in the book but I completely loved this book. The only thing that may have made this book better was hearing Jonah's perspective
Can't wait for KA's next release!

Well, well, well. If this is not a sequel, I don't know what is.

First of all, thank you KA Tucker, Social Butterfly PR and Netgalley for the ARC.

The Simple Wild was one of my favorite books of 2019, I devoured it and loved every page, every word and every little bit of Jonah I could get. It was SO GOOD, I could shove it to all my friends down their throats blindly, so of course I was dying of excitement when I realized I got this ARC.

Now, let's jump into this: Wild At Heart starts right where we left off. Jonah realized he couldn't live without Calla so he did what her dad couldn't do for her mom: he went after her. I mean, talk about LOVE, right? Agh. He did everything right, so now Calla is doing what she thinks is right for both of them: they're going to live in Alaska. WOW! Now, I felt this book was created for us to be part of their happily ever after, and that would've been amazing, if it wasn't so long. I mean, I felt it dragged too much on certain things (Calla's compulsive shopping), not a lot of Jonah, and it felt kind of plain, story wise. BUT, I have to admit, the details of the scenery, the conversations, Jonah, and KA's writing style entirely, she's just a genius.

If you're looking for a book that's focused on the main character's growth and how she interacts with an environment which is not what she's accustomed, and thrive... this is your book. But first, you need to read The Simple Wild, of course.

When I closed the back cover on A Simple Wild, last year, I was left wanting nothing. Everything had been tied into a neat little bow for me, and I knew in my heart of hearts that Jonah and Calla would find their way back to one another.⁣

I was also now a fan of romance novels and on the hunt for one that scratched my itch as The Simple Wild had. Enter Stage Left....Wild At Heart. The most perfect sequel had made its way into my hot little hands and I couldn’t have been a happier bookworm. Nothing had measured up to SW thus far.⁣

Wild At Heart is a different kind of love story than The Simple Wild. This one is a love story that finds our beloved Calla and Jonah navigating real life waters once the waves of fierce new love have settled down. The two of them must now find their place in the world as a unit, a place that must be built on a strong foundation of lasting love and compromise. We see a lot of change, and growth, in both characters in this book and we see both of them struggle to redefine themselves. Tucker wrote so realistically and true to life without sacrificing Calla and Jonah’s witty, sarcastic relationship dynamic we all came to know and love.⁣

All of the characters, both new and old, came alive on the pages and I found myself running it like a movie in my head. (I really want to be Muriel when I grow up 😝 ). Tucker has a way of making her characters become real people to the reader, and of course, Alaska itself becomes real and like a person on her own.⁣

I am calling this the best sequel I have ever read. It was literally like The Simple Wild was made into a longer book with a Part 2. The only reason it lost a star for me was Calla and her constant want to change people, and Alaska, into something or someone to suit her needs. At times her selfishness made me uncomfortable. But I will say that in those moments she was a character I loved to hate 😉 she’s still amazing and one of my faves ❤️ ⁣

This book put me into my feels and made me invest in the reading experience, which is always the sign of a stellar read! I applaud you K.A. Tucker!!!⁣

God I missed Calla and Jonah! Wild at Heart picks up right where The Simple Wild left off: Jonah is flew from Alaska to Toronto to tell Calla he’s not willing to give up on them. Calla feels the same way and moves to Alaska to start their lives together. The sequel follows their new lives for a year as the navigate their new life together.

This was EXACTLY what I was hoping for when I found out we were getting more of Calla and Jonah’s story: more scenes to gush over and a glimpse into their life together in Alaska. I just loved how real the story felt—the disagreements and struggle to find how they each fit into their new lives together was just soooo well done. I couldn’t put it down (literally read it in less than 24 hours). If you loved The Simple Wild, then I think you’ll be very happy with this. Perfect continuation of their story.

I laughed, I cried (in public) and my heart is so full

We’re back in Alaska with my favourite couple and this time it looks like Calla is in for the long haul. Calla and Jonah have bought a home together, started a new airline company and are living the dream, fully equipped with a pet racoon. But when trouble starts brewing will Calla run back to Toronto?

I fell in love with Calla and Jonah in the Simple Wild and although I have been incredibly excited about this sequel, I’m apprehensive about sequels. Holy Hell! This is better than I could have ever imagined; Tucker is giving me everything I needed and more - I laughed, I cried (in public) and my heart is so full.

K.A. Tucker has done it again. I know I said The Simple Wild was close to knocking Ten Tiny Breaths out of the number one spot for me, I was wrong. Wild at Heart is pushing it's way to the top.

Fantastically written. It sucks you in and doesn't let go. I absolutely loved Calla's journey in this novel. Watching Jonah and Calla's relationship evolve. What really made this book come alive is the secondary characters and Alaska. I didn't think I could fall in love with a state, yet the magical way K.A. writes makes you feel like you're really there.

I couldn't put this one down and now I want to go back and read The Simple Wild and Wild at Heart back to back.

Wild at Heart is the second book in the The Simple Wild series written by International Bestselling Author, K.A. Tucker. It is a continuation of Jonah and Calla’s Alaskan whirlwind romance. If you haven’t read the first book in this series, The Simple Wild, it is an absolute must before picking up book #2 of Jonah and Calla’s ensuing romance.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading the first book in this series. When I finished reading it, I didn’t want it to end! I wanted to know, where does their relationship go from here?

What happens after the happily ever after?

In the second instalment of this series, it focuses in on Calla and her new life in Alaska. Jonah and Calla move to the small town of Trapper’s Crossing, purchase a home and open a new business. Jonah’s job calls for long days and even longer days away, while Calla is trying to figure out how to adjust to this new life.

Calla struggles to find her place in this small town. She constantly ponders whether or not it was a mistake to pick up and leave her comfortable, city life in Toronto. Can she really adapt to small town living? After all, she made the decision to try out this life in Alaska knowing it was where Jonah could do what he loved most. That’s what we do for people we love, we take risks and accept change. But how do we do that without losing who we are?

To say I loved this book would be an understatement. This book was much needed and the perfect continuation. What I can say with absolute certainty is that the relationship between Jonah and Calla was real. The struggles, the arguments, the makeups, the emotion, the love, those all felt so real making this so much more enjoyable to read.

I liked that a new part of Alaska was explored, making it a nice change of scenery. Also, new characters are introduced which made this new journey of Calla’s all the more interesting. However I was happy to read about some old characters as well, it brought back nice memories of the previous book. I hope to read more about these other characters in the future as they were a big part of Calla’s new journey.

K.A. Tucker is a phenomenal writer and one of my favourite authors. I have high hopes for a third book in this series, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed!

This was such a satisfying sequel, I was worried I would not connect to this novel like I did with The Simple Wild. But, thankfully I had nothing to worry about. I loved being back with Calla and Jonah and seeing them build a new life together. Once I started reading it, I did not want to put it down. I would not be mad if KA Tucker wrote another book...or at least an epilogue....

The Simple Wild was the first romance book I read. I was blown away by the chemistry between Calla and Jonah. After I finished the book, I walked around for three days feeling as though I had just fallen in love. Over the last year, I have been making my way through @Katucker_’s backlist.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
I was so excited for Wild at Heart. Instantly upon starting this book, I was swept up in the chemistry between Calla and Jonah - there is just something about these two characters! Wild at Heart picks up where The Simple Wild left off (you really do need to read that one first), Calla and Jonah move in together, in Alaska and they start a business together that keeps Jonah away from home a lot and challenges Calla in ways that make her grow and make me like her more and more and more (I almost put The Simple Wild down because Calla annoyed me so much, but she continues to grow as a character and I now want to be her friend!). ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Wild at Heart is the story of what happens AFTER Happily Ever After… Wild at Heart is the real heat and raw energy of a relationship. It’s the frustrations of working together and giving so much of yourself and trying to make something work with someone else. It’s about compromise and real life. It’s about facing challenges with your partner and sacrificing for your partner’s happiness and drawing the line at where you sacrifice and where you tell your partner what you need. Relationships are SO MUCH MORE than physical attraction and snarky banter, Wild at Heart tells the story of Calla and Jonah’s relationship beyond getting together and giving in to the heat. Wild at Heart tells the story of a real couple facing life and challenges together, making sacrifices for each other and learning to ask for what they need.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
There is something really special about the chemistry between Calla and Jonah and I felt like I was leaving two friends when I finished the book. I hope @katucker_ writes more books and tells more and more of their story. ⁣⁣

Ah, there's nothing quite like the feeling when the sequel of a book you loved is just as good as its predecessor!

Calla and Josh, the couple at the core of K.A. Tucker’s excellent The Simple Wild (one of my favorite books from last year), are back. After returning home to her sheltered life in Toronto, full of the creature comforts she missed while in Alaska, Calla realizes she’s miserable without Josh. The burly bush pilot feels the same way about her, and comes to Canada to tell her he’d do anything to be with her, even if it meant having to leave Alaska.

Recognizing Josh is only happy when he’s flying, and despite his promise, the fact is, Alaska is his home, she decides to make a life with him there, and start a charter airline company. Their love is intense, but is it strong enough to survive not just the elements, but the time alone Calla must endure, the doubts about their relationship, and Calla’s uncertainty about whether this is the life for her? They buy a log cabin in the woods and Calla works hard to make it a home, but is it the home she wants?

"Am I happy here? I’m happy with Jonah. I love him in a way I didn’t think existed—wholly and resolutely. But am I happy here, in my life? Or have I been fooling myself into thinking that one morning I’ll wake up and things that feel foreign and temporary will finally feel like home?"

Wild at Heart is really a great romance, full of emotion and steaminess and some memorable characters, just like the first book. (Although I missed Agnes and Mabel not being a large part of this book.) The book explores issues of doubt, trust, grief, friendship, self-esteem, communication, and passion, set against the magically mercurial backdrop of Alaska.

While you might be able to read Wild at Heart without having read The Simple Wild, I wouldn't recommend it. First of all, you'll miss all of the backstory, which will help you understand what makes these characters tick, but more importantly, it's a pretty terrific book on its own!

Loved this so much!! I’m honored to have been part of the blog tour for this book. Thanks to Social Butterfly PR, NetGalley, and K.A. Tucker for an advance copy of the book in exchange for an unbiased review!

I fell in love with a sky cowboy from Alaska. I am still attractive to the angry yeti.

THE ANGRY YETI AND BARBIE ARE BACK !!!

My reaction when I got the email of getting an e-arc of Wild At Heart was the sound of a male seal above ground bark; throwing my body across my bed in giddiness, feeling like butterflies fluttering in my chest and crying with joyous.  I am in pure heaven ! For my mom passing by my door thought I was concern that I completely lost my mind.

Wild At Heart is the sequel to The Simple Wild. If you have not read The Simple Wild; please stop now and find a copy. I promise you that you will not regret it. The book was previously published back in 2018. I, unfortunately, I did not know about K A Tucker's work until the summer of 2019 when I was introduced to adult romance books. And Oh my sweet goodness, K A Tucker has my attention and heart. She is a mastermind at storytelling. It's an emotional ride!

I did worry.

This is a sequel. Meaning I was really concerned about how Tucker was going to pull the story. I did not want this to be a cute fairy tale rom-com that everything was smooth landing when Calla moves to Alaska permanently. I wanted Calla to be knee-deep in the dirt, facing her fears and seeking discomfort. When we first meet Calla, she is whiny, dramatic, driven yet compassionate and kind. I love seeing Calla character growth moving to emote valleys, small communities, high glaciers, and enormous mountains. Because let's face it, it not every day you decide to pack your entire life in 25 luggage and fly to move to Alaska to move in with your boyfriend and start over. To navigate a new relationship. This is not a short girl's trip to the weekend cabin in the middle of winter. I wouldn't even move to another city to live with my boyfriend. So moving to a new STATE is out of the equation for me. This is navigating into a new climate, new community, and new wild creatures that may or may not eat you. Wild At Heart isn't just Calla settling into Alaska creating a home, it's also coming settling in the relationship with Jonah.

What will be enough, then?” Because I can’t imagine my life without Jonah in it anymore.
“Find your place here. Something that’s going to give you—Calla Fletcher—purpose. Something that feels like you.” She nods slowly as if agreeing with her own answer. “Find that, and then give it your all.” - K A Tucker, Wild At Heart

“What hold does Alaksa have on them? What makes this place worth giving everything else up?”
― K.A. Tucker, The Simple Wild

Am I happy here? I’m happy with Jonah. I love him in a way I didn’t think existed—wholly and resolutely. But am I happy here, in my life? Or have I been fooling myself into thinking that one morning I’ll wake up and things that feel foreign and temporary will finally feel like home?  - KA Tucker, Wild At Heart

Let's talk about Jonah and Calla !!!  My favorite OTPS. The couple that I want to secure and protected forever !!! I could not contain my excitement when the sequel was announced. More Calla and Jonah, yes, please. There is something so raw and tender about Calla and Jonah's relationship that makes me want to crave their initial, a heart surrounding in a tree.  I love Jonah and Calla !!!!  I was screaming at the book for them to admit they have feelings for each other and I could not have been more happy for that cabin scene in The Simple Wild.  They just work. With that said, Wild At Heart not only tests their relationship as a team but as individuals.  I want to click a thumbs-up emoji 1oo times on how Tucker dive deeper into Calla and Jonah's relationship. I love seeing the small tender-sweet vulnerable moments, the steamy moments, pull my heart moments and the moments that I thought I needed to be out of the room for them to work it out. The moments that were vulnerable was what impresses me because their fights and disagreements might be small and petty, its real. There are a lot of compromises, broken promises, time apart, the resentment, manipulation,  and drifting that is in this book yet makes a huge impact in their relationship. Its not a summer fling. this a relationship that needs to make it strong or it will break and will not last.  A relationship that cannot be holding the other person back.

It’s everything I imagined being in love could feel like, back when I was trying to figure out what love is when I couldn’t form a definition in my mind for it. It’s this. It’s us. It’s the swell of emotion every time Jonah first walks into the room, it’s the impatience I feel whenever he’s not around, it’s the way my heart skips every time I make him laugh. On impulse, I lean over and press a quick kiss against Jonah’s cheek, just above his freshly trimmed beard. He regards me, a curious glint in his eye. “What’s that for?”
“For being you.”  - K A Tucker,  Wild At Heart.

My heart melted into a puddle.

Help me down?” It’s far too high to jump with the plane on floats and a trailer. Jonah obliges, stretching out his arms and opening up his broad chest. I lean down and, wrapping my arms around his neck, let myself drop, knowing he can bear my weight. He grunts but barely shifts, easing me to the ground with an arm roped around my back. I steal a kiss from his lips on my way down.   - K A Tucker, Wild At Heart

It’s where I belong.” Beside Jonah, in the sky or in the ground. But always by his side.

<3

It was really interesting to see more of Jonah in his natural habit, working as a pilot. To see more of his drive, his faults and romantic self that makes him the angry yeti. In The Simple Wild we see only small glimpses. Jonah runs the same drive as Callas's father. That Alaska is in his blood and thrives on flying. He is as confronting, stubborn as be before but also a thick-headed man that makes me want to yell at him.  There are moments his happiness is clouding over Callas's discomfort and not giving the support he should be giving that I wanted to throttle him.

Jonah likes to ride this thing at full throttle. As with everything he does in life, it seems. But that’s just who he is. He’ll always be wild at heart, and there is no way to tame or change him.  - K A Tucker, Wild At Heart.

Wild at heart is also so funny. From the small banters between characters to full out embarrassing yourself in front of others was so good. I don't know the number of times that I choke on my tea, pounding at my chest, tears watering my ears as I laugh. I could not stop. My favorite LOL moment was a scene with Calla and a moose. It is so priceless!

I love seeing familiar faces and meeting new faces. It just makes this novel more a comforting hug. Tucker brings in these characters that are so whit-sharp, a force of nature and an SOB.

With The Simple Wild, I was compelled to story because there are so many elements that resonate with Calla and Wild At Heart is what I hope to achieve by discovery, love, and patience. Overall, I am infatuated with Wild At Heart. I could not put it down. I am a true die-hard fan of Tucker's. It is my favorite romance sequel and I can definitely see a third novel of Calla and Jonah.
