Get ready to fall in love with Calla, Jonah, Alaska and all its inhabitants again in this breathtaking and beautiful sequel to the Simple Wild. This story can not be read as a standalone

This story picks up just after book 1 ends with Calla deciding to follow Jonah back to Alaska to try and make a life together as being apart from him is much harder than she could've ever imagine. Moving to an unfamiliar town to embark on a new journey is proving tougher than Calla originally thought. With Jonah constantly gone she needs to find a way to truly make Alaska her home without feeling alone and isolated and not letting her fears that the may end up just like her parents take hold

This to me was more than just a romance it was a journey of self discovery, finding a place to make home, somewhere you fit in, getting out of your comfort zone as well as finding your tribe and people to call family. To me this was the perfect Sequel to the Simple Wild and I loved the simplicity of it as well as diving in deeper and truly falling in love with Alaska and Calla and Jonah all over again

I dont think I could ever get sick of Jonah and Calla's story or Alaska and this book truly deserves 5 Swoon Worthy Sky Cowboy Stars

"I fell in love with a sky cowboy in Alaska"

With having just recently read The Simple Wild in early January (which don't ask me why it took me that long to read haha).... I was ECSTATIC to get my hands on the sequel of Calla and Jonah. I absolutely fell in love with Jonah and Calla in The Simple Wild. I was hoping to love Wild at Heart just as much.

Wild at Heart was very different than the Simple Wild but I loved it just as much. Calla and Jonah move to a small Alaskan town which it's absolutely perfect for Jonah. It has an airstrip and tons of beautiful land. Things aren't as easy for Calla first starting out but she would never imagine her left without Jonah.

I LOVED the setting of the book and how vivid/beautiful the descriptions of Alaska are. There is a new spread of characters that are introduced in this one and I couldn't have loved all of them more.

In my last review of the Simple Wild I stated how K.A Tucker can write.... my GOD she can STILL write like a god my friends haha. This story made me smile, made me cry, and made me laugh.

You see a different side of Calla in this one with her struggles but it's so moving and touching seeing the lengths and strength that she goes through for love.

This sequel was just what readers needed and am so happy that I was able to get an early copy to review. This story is raw, real, and flawless.

5 stars!!

Thank you so much to K.A Tucker and Social Butterfly PR for the arc in exchange for an honest review.

Oh my gosh, it was so great to catch up with Calla and Jonah following The Simple Wild. I absolutely adored the first story (it's one of my all-time faves) and couldn't wait to get my hands on this one as soon as I heard a sequel was coming. Of course, it's always slightly nerve-wracking getting a sequel to a book one loves. I think even K.A. Tucker was worried about doing her characters justice after such a spectacular first book. The good news is, when an author creates characters who feel as real as Calla, Jonah, Wren, Agnes, and the whole lot, they would be hard-pressed to write a bad second book.

I didn't love Wild at Heart quite as intensely as The Simple Wild, but please don't let that take away from how great this continuation was. I was excited to see where life took these characters, how things evolved, and how the characters had grown. I felt as if Calla went back to some of her old complaining ways that I wasn't too excited about in The Simple Wild, but again, by the end of this story she had come around again. I also thought the beginning of Wild at Heart started a bit slow for my tastes. It read more like a diary of details of Jonah and Calla's lives as they settled into Alaskan life as a couple. However, eventually, things did get rolling for me as a reader, and I was not eager to put the book down or take any sort of break from reading once it did.

I loved the addition of new characters, especially Roy, Calla and Jonah's curmudgeonly new neighbor, along with the animals that were sure to make their presence known in the rugged wilderness. As always, K.A. did her research for this book, allowing readers to learn more details about the ins and outs of Alaskan living. These stories are incredibly realistic, all while being able to make readers weak in the knees with the swoon-worthy romance.

Naturally, this story featured some ups and downs we were sure to expect as our main characters adjusted to a whole new way of life. I was happy to see how they worked out their differences and were able to grow as characters, both together and individually. I hope K.A. will keep the series going with a third book. I can't get enough of these characters, their lifestyle, and the setting. They are consistently fun to spend time with and truly think I could read about them forever!

My obsession with this book is real. I was waiting for the continuation of Calla and Jonah's story since the day I finished The Simple Wild. KA Tucker did a great job showing us what their life was like after Jonah came to Alaska to get Calla back. I was also slightly jealous of the fact that they stayed living in Alaska. Also, every time jonah left for a flight, i was scared for him and seriously held my breathe while I was reading until he got back. He gave me a scare at the end but it was worth it. Now I want even more!

4.5 stars

WOW! Ever since I finished The Simple Wild a few months ago, I had the feeling this story needed a sequel. So when said sequel was announced, I was so excited! I wanted more of Calla and Jonah, I wanted to read about how they managed their relationship and if Calla finds her place in Alaska, and this book was just without a doubt exactly what I was hoping for.

I want to begin by saying that although I did really enjoy TSW, I didn't exactly fall in love with Jonah and Calla as much as I was hoping I would. But after this one? I can 100% say they have now found a place in my favorite couples list! I just felt like this book made them feel so much more real and even made me more invested in making sure that they succeeded in their relationship. Not only that, but their entire relationship was such a breath of fresh air. They had problems throughout the story as any other couple would, but they genuinely sat down and talked about the things that were bothering them. Their communication was so great to read. They heard each other's complaints, they apologized when they were wrong, and sought to change for the better. And I just loved how much their relationship grows throughout the book, but not JUST their relationship but also both of them grow so much as individuals.

Which brings me another thing I loved about this one, which was Calla's character growth. I first want to start off by saying that I admire her so much. I think it takes strength to do what she did for Jonah, moving all the way to another country, somewhere so different than what she is used to. And I loved seeing how much she was open to seeing her faults in the things that were not going right in Alaska, and seeking to better herself on that. I think she grew exponentially since The Simple Wild and I was so proud of her for finding her place in Alaska by the end of the book.

I also think this book sold me on why Jonah is such an amazing character as well. He was patient and kind, was always opening to listening to Calla's problems, and genuinely saw his part in the problems as well. Not to mention that he is just the most thoughtful boyfriend.

I also LOVED the new characters! I specially loved seeing Calla find a friend (Toby) and l LOVED their friendship so much. Roy and Muriel also made such fun additions to the story.

I think my ONLY problem and the reason why this wasn't a full 5 star was that it felt a bit slow at times. It was a fun story but there wasn't much else going on aside from Calla finding her place in Alaska and Jonah and Calla learning to be a couple. Also, I so wish this author did epilogues! I would've loved to see a "... years later" chapter at the end! But I get that every writing style is different and not every author likes that.

All in all, I liked this even more than The Simple Wild and it definitely made it to my favorite books list!! I enjoyed it so so much. I think TSW fans will truly also enjoy this new addition, and fall even more in love with Jonah and Calla than they were after the first book. I certainly did.

This book was everything I wanted and more. I was a little worried about how high my expectations were going into reading this but I didn’t need to worry. I loved seeing Calla and Jonah’s relationship develop further. And I really enjoyed watching Calla find her place in Alaska. I can’t imagine picking up and leaving everything you’ve known to live a pretty much completely different life. If you loved The Simple Wild, you’ll love this one too.

The Simple Wild was one of my favorite romances of 2018 and when I heard there was a sequel coming out, I was thrilled. I couldn’t wait to get more Calla and Jonah and I hoped I would love it as much as the first. Well, I did. It was different than the first book in a lot of ways, but I loved revisiting the characters we know and love as well as meeting some new ones.

Calla and Jonah move to their own piece of paradise in a small Alaskan town. It’s perfect for Jonah. It has an airstrip, it’s in the state he loves, and he’s with the love of his life. He couldn’t ask for more. Things aren’t as easy for Calla, at least not at first. Alaska is not where she saw herself, but she can’t see herself without Jonah so it’s an easy choice.

I loved the setting of this book. The new cast of characters introduced were amazing. Each one had so much to contribute to the story, and played an important part. This story made me laugh, made me cry, and made me smile so big. I truly felt for Calla and admired her for all she went through. Her life is a far cry from how it was in the first book, but she takes it in stride.

This book had so much growth in it. I loved watching Calla change and grow. I loved seeing how real she was and watching her and Jonah’s relationship go through hurdles, but only strengthen with time and dedication. This couple is so in love and truly meant for one another. This truly was the kind of sequel we never knew we needed.

KA Tucker is an incredible storyteller and reading this book made me feel like I was there in Alaska with Calla and Jonah. This story is a romance, it’s an adventure, and it’s flawless. I adored every page and can’t recommend it enough.

I.Loved.This.Book. Talk about doing a sequel right. I am in a massive book hangover and I cannot wait to read it again when my physical copy arrives. I love these characters and I am really impressed with how KA Tucker handled the pressure of this sequel. There were moments when she could have taken the "easy way out" and definitely didn't. I'm obsessed.

Wild at Heart is the continuation of Calla & Jonah's story from The Simple Wild. You must read them in order.

This is one of the hardest reviews I've had to write, and I've spent the last few days trying to find the right words. The Simple Wild was one of the best books I've read, so needless to say Wild at Heart was one of my most anticipated reads of 2020. I was a little nervous going in, which admittedly I am anytime a sequel is written to a book I love. And, unfortunately, this book didn't live up to the hype I built in my head.

Now don't get me wrong. The writing, as expected, is incredible. KA Tucker pulled me in with her words and I couldn't help but devour every single one. But while I loved Calla & Jonah & wanted more of their story I don't think this book really did them justice. In my opinion, after reading this book, their storyline should have ended where it did in The Simple Wild. While some may not agree with how it ended I think, especially now, that it was the perfect ending for them.

I enjoyed this book, truly I did. I just didn't enjoy it as the continuation of Call & Jonah, if that makes any sense. I think if the first book didn't exist this would be a great standalone. But because I did have their backstory it was very hard for me to love it. These are still two of my favorite characters and one of my favorite love stories, and even though it wasn't for me I am still grateful to have gotten more from them.

If you saw my review for The Simple Wild back in August 2018, you know how much I loved it. I fell hard for both Calla and Jonah during that book, but I was also happy with how it all wrapped up. Sure, I can always use more of my favorite couples, but I didn't pine away for another book. Until that is, Kathleen announced she was writing a sequel. I guess I didn't realize just how much I missed them. I immediately started waiting impatiently with all the grabby hands, so I'm thrilled she released it early. I'm not kidding when I say I dropped everything to start reading it. I'm so glad I did.

One of my favorite things about The Simple Wild was Calla's personal growth. She wasn't super likable early on in that book, but before it was all said and done I loved her. Wild at Heart brings a continuation of that growth. I have to admire someone who packs up their life to move to the middle of nowhere in Alaska because it's what is best for their significant other. But I'd say the sacrifice is worth it. What Calla and Jonah have is special and, well, sometimes you have to work hard to keep a relationship like that. It was never going to be easy, but it was worth the effort.

Wild at Heart is a quiet romance with a couple that's very much in love. There aren't a lot of big, loud moments to prove that love. It's really a look at a relationship from day to day (or month to month) and the ups and downs that come with it. It is real. It's not all rosy. I mean, don't get me wrong, the love is there. That's never a question. It's just that Calla struggles to find her place and build a life not solely based around Jonah. If she's going to be happy in Alaska and feel like she fits in there, she needed more than just Jonah. It was admirable.

My love for Jonah was also reinforced while reading Wild at Heart. I mean, how can I NOT love a grumpy Alaskan pilot who is sweet as can be underneath? *heart eyes* But mostly I realized how much I love this couple and just how perfect they are for each other, despite all their differences. Or maybe because of them, I suppose. Not only do they balance each other out well, but they have amazing chemistry. The feels I got from this book are a little different than those in The Simple Wild, which were mostly based on Calla and Wren, but they were still strong. Wild at Heart was everything I didn't even know I needed. It was absolute perfection.

I received a complimentary copy of this book for review consideration. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

Favorite Quotes:

"You were made for me. I am madly in love with you, Calla Fletcher."

It's strange how your relationship can feel impenetrable one day and vulnerable the next—with a misunderstanding, a few words, and a mountain of repressed worries that finally swell to the surface.

He'll always be wild at heart, and there is no way to tame or change him. Not that I would ever want to.

Let me start off by saying thank you so much to KA Tucker and the publisher for gifting me a free copy of this book to read and review ahead of time. I was SO excited and thrilled when I got approved for this book, as it is one of my most anticipated releases this year.

This book picks up pretty much immediately after the end of the first novel, with Calla and Jonah trying to decide how to best further their relationship; long distance or having one of them move thousands of miles to be with the other. Calla ultimately decides to pack up and move to Alaska to be with Jonah and this book is about her trying to come to terms with living out in the wilderness and finding herself within it.

I think going into this book, you need to be aware that its not as simple as being Simple Wild 2.0. One of the reasons that book was one of my favorite reads last year was because it really spoke to a lot of the things that I love reading about and really resonated with me with a lot of its themes. I absolutely love any book dealing with enemies falling in love. I really relate to and connect with stories dealing with estranged father/daughter relationships and reconciling them, as well as stories about parents with cancer. Obviously, Wren and Calla's plot was wrapped up in the first book and wouldn't be present in this one, and we saw Jonah and Calla fall for each other in the first book as well so we wouldnt have that spark of them discovering their feelings for each other in this book either, so I was nervous about what this book would have to offer.

This book is ultimately about Calla finding herself and growing into her own. We see her make up her mind about what shes willing to put up with to be with the man she loves. We see her find out what exactly she wants out of her life and how she's going to make those things happen. We watch her grow up and really be independent for the first time in her life, which is something I think a lot of readers will really connect with. It's hard being in your 20's anyway, let alone while dealing with the things that she is dealing with.

I think one of the smarter things Tucker did with this book was have it be in a different setting and with a different cast of characters from the first book, to really have this book stand on its own two feet and have it be separate from the first. It would be easy to re-hash characters and scenes, but I love that she gave us a whole new scenario to fall in love with. Yes, Agnes, Mabel, and Simon all make small cameos and give us the nostalgia we crave, but we also meet Roy and Muriel and get a new found family to love too.

One thing I wasn't a huge fan of was actually Jonah and Calla's relationship. We dont really see a ton of Jonah in this one, he's always off flying his jobs, and when we do see him they are either fighting or having fade to black sex. They would bottle up their feelings, fight about them, apologize, and then repeat the whole thing a few chapters later. While realistic, it was frustrating as a reader because I really wanted them to learn from their mistakes and learn to better communicate with each other. Because of this, their relationship lost some of that spark that i loved reading about.

I will always love the Alaskan backdrop, and Tucker really brought it to life for me again here. I've barely even set foot outside of my own Midwestern state, and yet I really do feel like I was right there with Calla, trying to learn how to garden strawberries and look out for bears. She really painted a beautiful picture for us readers, and its one of the things that has solidified her as one of my new favorite authors.

All in all, while I personally did have a few gripes with this book and loved the first one more, I am so so so grateful that we got another chance to check in with Calla and Jonah, and part of me secretly is hoping for a third book in this series. I think this book will really satisfy that Simple Wild itch that a lot of readers have and I really do think a lot of people will really appreciate what this book does.

Is this a dream? I’m pretty sure this because that’s the only way I’m reading a sequel to “The Simple Wild.” I am flabbergasted to be jumping back into this world, the world of Jonah and Calla and beautiful Alaska. Hi wanderlust, it’s me Natalie, and I am back. I have had these characters in the back of my mind since I finished “The Simple Wild” and wondered where they went and how their story continued after Canada. Jonah and Calla has such contrasting personalities, but they were able to impact each other and grew with each other emotionally. But I did wonder if their epic love story would last or was it circumstantial. I knew this story wasn’t over. I just had to be patient with K.A. Tucker because she has given me my wildest dream and I get to dive back into this world.
.
This picks up right where we had left Jonah and Calla deciding to take the leap and officially move to Alaska. Calla was young and naive in book one. She was superficial about life. Alaska turned her into this confident, poised women, but she still has no direction in life. Jonah is still the gruff, sarcastic Alaskan man with the ever present hatred of having his feet on the ground, just with softer edges formed by love.
.
With the first book, we had the epic love story filled with tension with the bickering, emotions that were left unsaid, and moments that not only made you fall in love with Calla and Jonah, but with Alaska. I loved how with this book was an extension beyond the happily ever after dream ending. You have now picked up your life and moved it across the country to live your life with with a man you love, but still have looming issues that we need to address. Falling in love was the easy part, but what does it take to stay in love is the looming question. This is so much more than the first book was. We get to take this journey with them and see their relationship flourish as they adapt to their new normal, we get to see struggles every couple goes through, and what it takes for each of them emotionally to make a lasting relationship. We get to see them not only challenge each other, but we get to see how they challenge themselves by asking the hard questions and evaluating what is truly best. Though this is from Callas point of view, Jonah’s emotions still are clear and present through his actions.
.
The scene descriptions were simply beautiful. I could close my eyes and see snow covered mountain peaks that are jagged across the horizon, the white soft snow that has greenery penetrating the perfect layer of white, the smell of the smoky chimney as you approach house and you walk in to warm yourself by a crackling fire. I had such an appreciation riding the ferry while reading this book and being able to look out my window to see the horizon painted with the rugged Olympic National Park, the snow capped peak of Mount Baker, or the sun rises that painted the sky such beautiful colors. K.A. Tucker’s writing did that for me. She made me see things I have a new respect for and she made me feel emotions I didn’t know a book could make me feel.
.
This book was beautiful. I felt like I was on the same journey right there with Calla as she went through the emotions of the motions of life. From the intricate layer of emotion intertwined with humor and sarcasm to the characters that will forever hold a special place in my heart, this book was perfection.
.
Thank you so much to K.A. Tucker and Socialbutterly for this eARC. There are not enough words to express how grateful I am.

From the internationally best-selling author of The Simple Wild comes the continuation of a woman’s journey to Alaska and a life she never imagined for herself.
Calla Fletcher returns to Toronto a different person, struggling to find direction and still very much in love with the rugged bush pilot she left behind. When Jonah arrives on her doorstep with a proposition she can’t dismiss, she takes the leap and rushes back to Alaska to begin their exciting future together.
But Calla soon learns that even the best intentions can lead to broken promises, and that compromise comes with a hefty price—a log cabin in interior rural Alaska that feels as isolating as the western tundra.
With Jonah gone more than he’s home, one neighbor who insists on transforming her into a true Alaskan, and another who seems more likely to shoot her than come to her aid, Calla grapples with forging her own path. In a world with roaming wildlife that has her constantly watching over her shoulder and harsh conditions that stretch far beyond the cold, dark, winter months, just stepping outside her front door can be daunting.
This is not the future Calla had in mind, leaving her to fear that perhaps she is doomed to follow in her mother’s fleeing footsteps after all.

I fell in love with Calla and Jonah and the Alaskan wilderness in The Simple Wild. Calla is a true city-girl who came to Alaska to spend time with the dad she never knew, and falls in love with a rugged and adventurous airline pilot, Jonah. After finishing The Simple Wild last year, I immediately hoped there would be a sequel. And K.A. Tucker delivered that and so much more in Wild at Heart.

In Wild at Heart, we follow Calla and Jonah as they acclimate to their new surroundings and their budding relationship. Plus, we get to meet some new entertaining supporting Alaskans along the way.
I love how real the story is; the characters are flawed and frustrating at times. Often times, they get in their own way and sometimes I wanted to shake Calla. But that is also what makes the story so beautiful. Love can be hard, messy, and demanding. And we get to experience it all in the beautiful Alaskan Wild. I cannot wait for the (hopefully) next installment in this beautifully messy story!

In July of 2018, I read a book about a twenty-something risk analyst from Canada who picked up and went to Alaska to mend fences with her estranged father. There she met a wildly attractive bush pilot who turned out to be the biggest risk of her life. That book, The Simple Wild, immediately became my TOP FAVORITE READ of the year and one of my all-time favorite novels ever. It ended perfectly and beautifully but with so much possibility for where Jonah and Calla's story could go. I didn't know it then that KA Tucker would return to Alaska to bring us more of their love story, bring us on a new adventure with this couple and all the risks they'd yet to gamble on together. I didn't know it then but their story was far from over and this follow-up, Wild at Heart, would immediately become my new favorite of 2020 and another top favorite read EVER.

I haven't read a book that gave me such wanderlust in quite some time. I haven't read a book in ages that had me setting it down just so I could talk about it with anyone who'd listen. I'm an indoor girl with a major aversion to winter and nature and I admittedly have zero survival skills. (Camping gives me hives.)  But this story, Calla's story, made me want to be brave and wild and fearless and I completely immersed myself in every bit of this adventurous risk right along with her. Her fears, her reluctance, her jealousy, her devotion, her loyalty, her kindness, her perseverance, her determination, her friendships, her romance, her longing... I WAS HERE FOR ALL OF IT.  I felt every bit of this journey right along with her, all the uncertainty and the solitude and the insecurity and the strength of will she exhibited, I felt it all and it made for the most PHENOMENAL reading experience.

The chemistry and raw devotion between Calla and Jonah is next level. To this day I tell everyone I know that The Simple Wild is one of the best books I've ever read. But still, I somehow forgot just how much these characters had woven themselves under my skin. As soon as I opened the first page, I was reminded of precisely why I was so desperate for more of their story and if I thought I loved them then, my love for them NOW is exponentially more profound. Their journey in this book is PERFECTION. I couldn't have dreamed up a better sequel, I couldn't have envisioned a more exciting, riveting, emotional romance than what KA Tucker delivers in Wild at Heart.

This story is beyond anything I can even say about it. There just aren't words. I loved every character, every bit of dialogue, every ounce of tension and strife and unspoken word. I loved getting lost in the Alaskan wild, in a cabin in the forest with a curmudgeon of a neighbor and a pushy, bullheaded local woman making demands. I loved the heartwrenching memories of another time, in another house that came full circle in this story. I loved the perfect amount of steam and the perfectly potent amount of angst that Tucker wove through such a blissfully romantic happily ever after. I loved the danger of Alaska and the danger of the skies and the palpable fear that gnawed at my insides through all of it. I loved the strangers who became friends and the friends who became family and the goat. I loved the goat. I loved every single thing on every single page of this book. The timing and pacing of this story, the dialogue and the sexy banter, the insecurities and the sheer romance set against such a wildly unforgiving backdrop. All of it was SUPERB. The Simple Wild was too good to be followed up by anything less that PERFECTION and KA Tucker KILLED it with Wild at Heart. If I read nothing else this year, I'll feel content because I had THIS story, I experienced THIS adventure. Wild at Heart is breathtakingly  remarkable and I will never, ever get over it.

This is book two so I would recommend reading The Simple Wild first. I want to say that I loved that book! The first one!

Now with this book, it was just a let down. Big moments were passed over and their day to day lives were boring.

I wanted to read about their first Christmas together.

It was difficult for me not to pick at things since I’ve lived in Anchorage and traveled over the state of Alaska. But I tried to put that to the side.

I didn’t feel like the story flowed. This happened then this happened then this happened.

It was just a let down. Every time Jonah would come home they would talk once, have sex and then the writer moved on to another month. Calla was so placid and just did what Jonah wanted which is not the girl in the first book. I wanted more from her. I wanted their big moments to last longer and make me feel the pain.

I skimmed a lot of this book. This book lacks the flow and growth that the first book had.

I received this book for an honest review.

A sequel always has this unspoken expectation to hold up to its predecessor. I won’t lie and say I was worried about the sequel, not because of Tucker's fantastic writing but because of my high expectations that weren’t fair.
Can I just say that K.A. Tucker blew it out of the park and overpassed my expectations! I devoured this book! I could not get enough of Calla. At this point, she has become one of my favorite characters ever. Seeing her grew from the first book to the second really meant something because you were there every step of the way. I love how even though this is about Jonah and Calla, the story IS Calla. Her journey, her growth, her strength, her vulnerability, etc. The imagery of this novel is fantastic, I was there with Calla and could see it all along with her.
The new characters were so lovely and I want to know more, but my favorite was Roy. Roy is a character that touches my heart. From beginning to end this novel was delightful and deep and the writing was fantastic. Calla and Jonah were so cute and realistic. I cannot rave anymore. Favorite read of the year so far. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This is going to be the hardest review I've ever written. Let me preface this with the fact that I loved The Simple Wild. I gave it 5 stars and I CRIED while reading that book. I don't cry when I read. It takes a lot from a book to produce tears from me. But...

This started out so promising. The swooning that was happening in the first 4 chapters was no joke. I think I fell more in love with Jonah than I even thought possible. I was excited to see what was going to happen next. And that's just it, nothing happened for a while.

I feel like after the first third of the book, the Alaskans start to steamroll Calla a little (Jonah included). I also feel like Jonah had communication issues as they couldn't have a fight without him having to involve other people. This became frustrating for me because Calla had given so much up to be with him and he couldn't even be trusted to not go running off to a certain blonde veterinarian (insert eyeroll here) and their problems with her. And when Calla did defend herself and try to warn Jonah that the blonde veterinarian couldn't be trusted, he told her she should apologize to her!! WTF Jonah?? I felt like the Jonah from the first half of this book was a different person than the second half and that was really frustrating to me. I also didn't feel like there was nearly enough groveling on Jonah's part.

The secondary characters were entertaining and my favorite were Roy and Toby, but I wished Calla would have stood up to Muriel sooner. She got on my nerves a little after a while. It's a good thing these characters were around for Calla because Jonah up and changed all plans, so he wasn't around much in the middle part of this book. (Also frustrating; he's half the reason I'm reading this book and he isn't around??)

I also felt like there should have been an epilogue so I know these two were surviving and thriving, but no, didn't get that either. I liked parts of this book, other parts frustrated me, and I swooned during the rest of this book. I still love these characters and would love to read more about them as long as they were more the Calla and Jonah from the first book.

Wild at Heart is the sequel to K.A. Tucker’s, The Simple Wild. This story continues to follow main character, Calla, as she adjusts to life in rural Alaska, having moved there to be with her one true love, Jonah. As excited as they are to plan their future together, reality takes hold and the two realize maybe they promised more to each other than they can deliver. Life in rural Alaska is hard and presents lots of obstacles the couple has to stumble through. Can a city girl like Calla really embrace her new life in the Alaskan wild or will she end up fleeing from The Last Frontier just like her mother did before her?

Oh what can I even say to express how much I loved this book?! I truly love these characters with a fiery passion and I wish I would never have to say goodbye to them. This sequel to The Simple Wild was everything I have ever wanted and needed. I loved being able to take a peek into their lives after their happily ever after. It was so entertaining to watch them navigate through all sorts of unique challenges as a newly minted couple and watch them both grow throughout the duration of the novel. Calla was still full of her quick witted humor, Jonah was as swoon-worthy as ever, and their chemistry was as steamy and palpable as ever. Even the quirky supporting characters completely stole my heart. This book had such a strong sense of community that had me longing to experience life in a small Alaskan town. Tucker was able to seamlessly weave together a story that had the perfect amount of humor while still touching on deeper topics, like love, the importance of finding yourself, and following your passion. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who fell in love with Calla and Jonah’s story in The Simple Wild.

I’m so glad I got to revisit characters that feel like I could so easily plug into my real life. Walking with Calla through the Simple Wild as she got to know her father and then eventually lose him was such an easy story to get wrapped up in. I was wondering how KA Tucker would continue to keep us just as invested in Callas ‘a new story with Jonah. To be honest, I don’t exactly know howTucker pulled it off, I just know I was just emotionally involved in rooting for Calla and Jonah’s relationship this time around.

These characters aren’t unrealistically portrayed and thankfully their relationship wasn’t either. They both maintain to be good people throughout the story but as they transition into their new life together, you’re wondering if it’s a situation where you can have two good people in a relationship but it just might not be right.

I loved this book and I’m grateful Tucker let us check in to see how they’re doing.
