When I first heard about K.A. Tucker returning to the world of Jonah and Calla I was nervous because The Simple Wild was such an amazing book that I felt had a great ending of its own. K.A. Tucker took those nervous feelings and blasted them out of the park. Wild at Heart picks up right where The Simple Wild left us in Canada. It continues the most wonderful and not always perfect relationship between Jonah and Calla and all of their struggles to make their love story work for them. Calla never pictured returning to Alaska to live. She was always concerned that the relationship her mother had with Alaska would also be in her future. She was determined to make it work because of her love for Jonah. While this story continues their epic, I mean EPIC, love story it also gives us a glimpse into Calla's struggle to go from a city girl to a woman living in the Alaska Wild. Seeing her growth not only from the first book but from the start of this sequel was refreshing. It humanized these characters and brought them to life from the pages. The relationship and bond she has with Roy shows all she had learned from losing her father. I would love to see a third book in this series that shows us Jonah and Calla in the future with children and how their lives are in Alaska after a few years. I will never get enough of this couple.

K.A. Tucker is one of those authors that can make you laugh, make you cry and still want to reread one of her books the very next day. I truly hope that she returns to Alaska to write about some of the other characters we have met along the way. I would love to see a story about Maria, Toby, and of course Mabel.

This highly anticipated story did not disappoint. When we first met Calla and Jonah, their story swept us away in an epic emotional love story. Wild at Heart picks up right where we left off with Calla and Jonah... two people from different worlds determined to work.

This book is so much more than Calla and Jonah as a couple. This is a journey for Calla. Calla, big city girl, moved to follow her heart. Trying to prove everyone that she is not her mother. We like to believe that every HEA is a smooth ride but this book showed us how the journey is not always easy after the decision to try forever with someone you love.
At times I felt as if I was there feeling the words and in the relationship. I could hear my heart crack for the relationship, their love and their fight.
Jonah, oh Jonah. Are their words for you? Your no BS and honesty is refreshing. Jonah, you are making ladies everywhere jealous of a fictional Calla.

Tucker, you did it again. Your words had me glued to the page. I couldn’t wait to see what was next. Your storytelling was impressive. Thank you for giving the readers more. We fell in love with Calla and Jonah, but our hearts wanted more. Thank you for filling up our hearts once more.

RUN....don't walk...and PRE-ORDER this book (due out February 18th). If you've not read the Simple Wild, order that too!!

I read the Simple Wild last year with my book club and fell in love with Jonah and Calla! I don't usually like hate-to-love romances, but in my opinion, it was mild dislike that grew into playful taunting then full blown love!♥♥

And then comes Wild at Heart....because my heart was broken at the end of The Simple Wild and this book was one of my most HIGHLY ANTICIPATED books of 2020. [author:K.A. Tucker|4866520] does such an awesome of character development, plot development and....oh gosh...this newest book is just PERFECTION!!!

This book picks up where the Simple Wild leaves off and we see how Jonah and Calla manage their lives together and the obstacles they face together. We see and feel the growth of Calla and Jonah as individual people and as couple. I think I love every character in this book!! I'd give more stars if I could!

Thank you to K.A. Tucker and Social Butterfly PR for allowing me to read and review this book for free for an honest review.

This book starts right where The Simple Wild left off and I was still having book hangover from reading TSW 2 weeks ago. Going in, I was a bit afraid that the sequel won’t live up to how much I loved TSW. ⁣

I am so glad I was proven wrong. I fell in love with Jonah again and reminded what a great couple Jonah & Calla makes. I love seeing old friends and meeting their new neighbors that act so much depth to the book. I love how Wild at Heart showed how close knit community these towns in Alaska could be. ⁣

Thank you to @socialbutterfly_pr and @katucke_ for the gifted ARC. Go ahead and preorder it now. So you can read this on Feb 18th. ⁣

Calla and Jonah.
Barbie and her Yeti.
To say I am overwhelmed with pure joy having had the chance to visit with this beloved couple once more is beyond an understatement. K.A. Tucker guided me back to Alaska with her magical words and I experienced not only the elation of Calla and Jonah being together again but the realness that was their ongoing struggles in being a couple in every sense of the word.

There is this sweet kind of authenticity as Tucker's prose allowed me to be right there in this cold and barren part of our world that was both addictive and daunting. I felt every single one of Calla's hesitations as her city girl persona is put to the test daily. But I truly did appreciate her efforts even when they seemed less than enthusiastic. The woman may have bitten off more than she could chew but her tenacity and her frankness became her allies when the fleeting thoughts of giving up her man and their new life threatened to break her.

The love between Calla and Jonah could not have been more beautiful. This romance is the real deal and every single stolen glance or mere touch of a hand and these two were falling even deeper. I couldn't get enough of the way Tucker describes Jonah's reactions, in particular, to the thought that perhaps he wouldn't be able to hold onto Calla forever. That she'd leave because it all just got to be too much for her. I was a goner more than once as the sincere emotions that were transparent from a few moments of despair played out in each of their replies. I could just imagine the heartache at seeing Calla's bouts of sadness and not knowing how to fix it. I will say, however, that the happiness outweighs all the uphill climbs these two have to experience and the true moments of elation for both of them were worth all the heartache.

Exceptional secondary characters in the cantankerous Roy, the good-hearted yet meddlesome Muriel, the very wise Agnes, the affable Toby and two four-legged 'friends' in Gus and Oscar add just the right amount of support and challenge as Calla finds her rhythm both with and without Jonah by her side. It's that sense of family, that unconventional group of people who can make or break this new life of hers together with Jonah, it's quite simply a perfect kind of wild.

At first glance, it was clearly Jonah who was not only the true sense of a simple wild but the man who was definitely wild at heart. But with this book, Tucker showed Calla she had the moxie, the undeniable spirit within her to be able to create her own way to be just as free.

Although not a must, you will want to read A Simple Wild first to see how Calla came to be in the magnificence that is Alaska and watch just how the beauty and her yeti start the path to their ultimate happy.

5+++ stars!

Thanks to NetGalley, K.A. Tucker, and Social Butterfly PR for an ARC of this book! Release date - February 18, 2020

Warning, no spoilers for this book but definite spoilers for The Simple Wild.

This was such a fantastic sequel. I completely fell in love with Calla and Jonah in The Simple Wild, and although I was satisfied at the end of that book, it definitely left the door open for a continuation of their story. And I love the direction that this book took it in! So many times the end of a book is considered a “happily ever after,” but real life is never like that. There’s always more story to tell, and I really was curious about Calla’s continued life in Alaska. There were definitely some hilarious moments that had me laughing out loud with all the adjustments she had to make and the interesting characters, both human and animal, that she ran into. There were also some really touching moments, both between Calla and Jonah and Calla connecting with some new characters.

I really loved the new characters. I do think K.A. Tucker has a talent for creating really unique, really real characters. From bossy, “battle-ax” Muriel, to her sweet son Toby, to stubborn and initially unlikable Roy, I really came to love the new characters as much as I loved Agnes and Mabel and Wren from the first book.

Again, I loved how real this book was. I am currently renovating a house with my husband, similar to Calla and Jonah, and so I seriously identified with some of their struggles and joys. The frustrating moments as well as the funny moments. I’ve been through it all!

Another strong point about this book is that it painted a genuine picture of how real relationships can be, both the good and the difficult. It reminded me of All Your Perfects by Colleen Hoover in that way. Although both Calla and Jonah frustrated me at times, I think their reactions were often very realistic. But I loved how committed they were to each other.

All in all I’m very happy with this book! I do think I liked The Simple Wild more, just because that book touched my emotions more and had some deeply heart-wrenching moments. But overall I’m very happy with the direction this book took Calla and Jonah’s relationship and I loved getting a glimpse into where their lives went after that book finished. I’d even love visiting these characters again in another book. These characters will continue to stick with me for a very long time.

What a gem! Series can be so hard, especially when the first one is so lovely!

This book beautifully captures the Alaskan landscape, highlighting both the pretty and ugly parts. Calla is very relatable to me in a way, although there are no particular qualities too pinpoint. Perhaps it's better to say that after these two books, I understand Calla and have a deep empathy for the character.

Jonah really was on my nerves for most of this book (I love him), but I think it was so necessary for the storyline and showed the troubles that are faced in real relationships. When books make me feel angry for the main character, you know that's some damn good writing.

All in all, a delightful read!

Wild at Heart is the follow up to K.A.Tucker's The Simple Wild novel. You need to read the first book to read this and I 100% recommend doing that because The Simple Wild was one of my top reads of 2019!

Wild at Heart picks up where the first book ended. Calla and Jonah have decided to meet in the middle and try to make it work between them. That means both of them leaving the places the call home to start new. For Calla this is more of an adjustment than it is for Jonah. Calla immensely struggles to find her place in their new home and begins to question both herself and her relationship with Jonah. It puts to question, is loving someone enough?

I fell in love with Calla and Jonah in The Simple Wild, it was a beautiful and heartbreaking. This book lost my connection with these characters a little bit. Wild at Heart read like a "day in the life" of Calla and Jonah. Jonah, when on page and not off flying solo, made swoon worthy declarations of love and sadly had a moment or two that made me sigh and think "really Jonah" . Some of the newness of their relationship wore off and the blindingly obvious moments of them truly not knowing each other show through. He redeemed himself time and time again in the book but it hurt that he had to keep doing that.

Pacing was a major problem in this book. The first half of the book dragged along with mundane day to day problems. When big moments happened you were like YES and then they would be solved instantly which was unappealing and left you feeling unfulfilled. You want to see Calla and Jonah's relationship succeed but the struggle to get there was painful (and not in that great story heart crushing way) but in a come on now way.

Overall, unfortunately this was a bit of a let down from how powerful and impressive The Simple Wild was. Wild at Heart introduced some great characters and you got to see Calla grow as a person but it floundered in many other ways. What I really wanted was an epilogue. A 10 years later and this is our couples happily ever after. I was given a couple with a bright future ahead of them but I guess I'm greedy and it didn't completely satisfy me.

Wild at Heart is a contemporary romance. It is the sequel to The Simple Wild (you must read The Simple Wild first).

I loved The Simple Wild. KA Tucker is one of my favorite authors. This sequel was one of my most anticipated reads. I was so beyond excited when I heard that she was writing Wild at Heart. But I was a bit nervous. Would she be able to make me feel as much as I did in the first book? I am happy to say that she did. Wild at Heart was not totally what I was expecting. But it was fantastic. And I was not disappointed. This book made me laugh and cry. It was emotional and made me feel so much. I loved it!

This book picks up right where the last book left off. The story is once again narrated by Calla (26 years old - 1st person POV).

There is a bit of a recap at the beginning of this book to remind the reader of some important facts from before. However I re-read the last 5 chapters of the first book just so that I would be able to remember exactly how things had ended.

In this new book we get to see most of our favorite characters from the previous book. But there are also a lot of new characters.

The setting is the star of this book. I won't get into specifics about the places Calla visits or where she may end up. But I enjoyed the setting of this book so much.

It was really nice to get to see Calla and Jonah again. It was nice to get more of their story. Book one ended with him making her a proposition. But we never really got to see anything past that. So this was a really big treat.

It was interesting to see their struggles. At times he seemed a bit selfish. And I was definitely wondering how/if they could make this work. Overall, I found this book was super emotional. But I was so curious to see how it would end.

The chapters were listed by month. I enjoyed this method of storytelling so that we weren't stuck just seeing one period of time. This really worked for me.

I loved getting to see so many of my favorite characters again, especially Mabel, Agnes, Calla's mom, Simon and Diana. But I was also captivated by some of the new characters that we meet in this book. The three most notable to me were: Roy, Muriel and Toby. They were such amazing additions to the story. Especially Roy.

I loved these characters. I loved this setting. I loved seeing this new adventure.

This book was really enjoyable. For some reason I was expecting more of a novella. But this was 400 pages and very substantial. It was a pleasure to read.

There were some great surprises both good and bad. This was such a great sequel. I actually want more!

Wild at Heart by K.A. Tucker is book two in her The Simple Wild Series and is not a stand-alone. I strongly recommend to read the books in order. The previous book is The Simple Wild and tells the beginning of Call and Jonah's unique love story.
The story picks up immediatedly where the previous one was left off. -
The Simple Wild by K.A. Tucker is a heart- wrenching, raw and gritty read that gave me all the feels.
This book was such a pleasure to read. I have to admit I it took me some time to like the main character , but once I did I loved it. K.A does a great job of showing the depth in all her characters in this book which is definitely a strength for all her books. The chemistry was fantastic and Jonah was a true Sky Cowboy. And Calla, she grows to really love the wildness of the tundra and love the people who live there. She described the beauty and the cruelty of Alaska and if you have ever wanted to travel North, read this book. I love the relationship between Calla and her father and how it grows from respect. Even the other storyline of her parents is beautifully told. I recommend the book, 5+ Stars. -
Calla is back in Tporonto and Jonah just left for Alaska. He can't stay and she doesn't want to move - -what to do and who should compromise -
Wild at Heart is just as good as the first book in the series, a pleasure to read, literally. I loved everything about the book, 5 stars.

Loved this one - the sequel definitely delivered! It was a little lighter on the "romance" than expected, but I understand as the relationship is already developed. I love Calla & Jonah together, and enjoyed watching Calla grow as a person and find her way in Alaska. Would totally recommend!

***ARC received in exchange of an honest opinion***

What can I say, Wild at Heart was my most expected release of 2020 and it didn´t disappoint a bit! It was everything I wanted and everything I didn´t know I wanted wrapped up into another beautiful story by K.A. Tucker! It gave me chills when I finished it.

Wild at Heart made my heart soar and it gave me all the warm feelings I get when I read an amazing book!

I can´t say it´s better than The Simple Wild, because it´s in the same level of greatness. K.A. Tucker managed to write a sequel that even though wasn´t exactly needed after finishing the first book, while reading it, it felt like it was needed. It was perfect. It´s less emotional than The Simple Wild, but not less great. It has a quite kind of power to it.

The Simple Wild was an amazing story and Wild at Heart is exactly what I needed after it. Wild at Heart is what happens after the HEA. And it was amazing to see it. Jonah and Calla had such an intense love story in the first book and despite everything they went through together, they didn´t have a lot of time for them. Only them. And so Wild at Heart gives us the opportunity to see them being them. With heir flaws and mistakes.

I want to talk about Calla and how she changed since the girl who arrived in Alaska for the first time in The Simple Wild. It´s AMAZING to see how much she has grown. She has matured so much and I loved seeing the youg woman she became. Does it mean she is perfect now? Not at all. She has flaws and makes mistakes, but the way she owns up to them makes all the difference now. The same with Jonah. He is still assertive and he still pretty much says what comes to his mind. But there´s a more gentleness to him now and I fell in love with him all over again.

Bottom line is, Wild at Heart is perfection for a lover of romance. It´s perfection for a lover of great stories and great writers. And boy, K.A. Tucker is such a talented writer! She doesn´t need all the whistles for her stories to be amazing and perfect. She doesn´t need overly dramatic scenes or characters, too much sex, smut or over the top scenes. She does the job with amazing writing skills, plotlines well thought, characters that will captivate you and steal your heart and with stories like this one.

Obviously Wild at Heart is in my Top Reads of 2020 already, because there was no way that wasn´t happening. I knew it when she announced she was writing the sequel to one of my all time favorite books. I knew it when I saw the amazing cover. And I just knew it when I started the book. I devoured it in a few hours and it was everything. EVERYTHING.

Again, I have to thank her for creating Jonah and Calla and giving them to us, because my life wouldn´t be the same without these characters and these two amazing books!

I was so nervous to read this book. I loved the first book, The Simple Wild, so much. I was scared that something would happen in this book that would mess it up. K.A. Tucker knocked it put of the park again with Wild at Heart. The characters are so real. The story is so realistic. I didn’t want it to end. Don’t be scared to read it. It’s worth it.

I voluntarily read an early copy.

Since the moment I heard that KA Tucker would be writing a sequel to The Simple Wild, I knew I had to get to my hands on it! All the apprehension that follows hearing an all time favorite story ensued, would it ruin the perfection of the first book? What would happen to my favorite characters, etc. Happy to report that all of these concerns were for naught, as Wild as Heart was absolutely everything I could have wanted from a return to Alaska and to Calla and Jonah.

Wild at Heart is a true sequel to The Simple Wild, so cannot be read without having first read TSW (not that you should ever pass on TSW anyway!) and picks up just a few months later. I was gripped by this book from page 1 and revisiting these characters felt like coming home to family and just like family, it was equally hard to have to bid them farewell once again!

First off, thank you SO much Netgalley & K.A. Tucker for approving me to read an ARC copy. I was beyond excited to hear about a continuation of Calla & Jonahs story and couldn't wait to get my hands on it!

This sequel was everything and more. It picks up right where The Simple Wild left off, so do not read this book if you haven't read the first! I absolutely loved it just as much as the first book. I loved Callas journey in finding herself and figuring out what's best for her. I loved all the new characters that were brought in. The characters were so well written with their own unique personalities. Muriel and Roy were the best. I just adore them all and the little town they live in. Also, isn't that cover beautiful? I can't wait to buy a paperback for my bookshelf!! All in all this was a great read and satisfying sequel. Very happy with this one!

Wild at Heart exceeded my expectations. And that's really saying something, as I had really high hopes for Calla and Jonah's continued story.
The character growth was astounding, and I loved all the new characters we were introduced to thanks to the new place Calla and Jonah moved to. All the characters brought something unique both to the story and to Calla and Jonah.
The writing made me feel like I was right there with them, and I felt all the things they felt. It was just fantastic, and I was completely satisfied when I arrived at the end.

When I first heard that this book was in the works, I could hardly contain my excitement. The Simple Wild is my favorite book and I knew Kathleen would be able to recreate the same mood and feel in this book as she did in the first. As it turns out, she managed to exceed my expectations. This doesn’t feel like a “sequel.” It feels like it’s all part of the same book. It’s not just words on a page; it’s an immersive experience. The second I crack open my Kindle, I’m instantly transported to the Alaskan wilderness. As I write this review, I can clearly picture the tiny village of Trapper’s Crossing with its quirky, endearing inhabitants. And I can barely put into words how incredible it felt to be back in the world of Jonah & Calla. It was like visiting old friends. An epilogue at the end of The Simple Wild would never have been a sufficient conclusion to their story. A high maintenance socialite and a headstrong Alaskan bush pilot were bound to hit a few roadblocks along the way and I’m so glad we had the chance to experience those right along with them. I’m hopeful that someday a third book might be added to this “Wild World,” but even if it isn’t, I’m happily content imagining the crazy adventures that lie ahead for Barbie and her Yet. ❤️

Just like The Simple Wild, Wild at Heart is more than a simple romance. It’s a story about discovery, growth, and patience.

Wild at Heart picks up a few months after the events of The Simple Wild. Calla and Jonah are getting ready to start their lives together in Alaska. Both are sacrificing key parts of themselves for each other.

After reading these novels, I can clearly picture the Alaskan wild in my mind’s eye. Tucker’s descriptions are beautiful and her ambiance is palpable. She paints Alaska with the brush it deserves: beautiful, picturesque, and idyllic landscapes paired with the harsh realities of living in the bush.

I didn’t think I’d like the new characters as much as I did, especially Roy. There’s a wholesomeness that they bring to the story that wouldn’t work otherwise.

The only complaint I have is that there isn’t enough Jonah. Wild at Heart is about Calla’s growth, so it’s not surprising that Tucker focused on Calla and her journey.

Overall, Wild at Heart is a beautiful sequel that holds up to its incredible predecessor. I will never get enough of Calla and Jonah.

I honestly think I could read about Calla and Jonah forever. The SImple WIld is one of my favorite novels, and I was simultaneously nervous and excited for the sequel. Afraid that it wouldn't live up to the level of how much I love the first book, I tried to approach Wild at Heart with not many expectations. But I was in love from the very first page - picking up immediately where The Simple Wild left off, which I loved.
The chemistry and attraction between Calla and Jonah is so magnetic, I feel their love for each other through each page. I was immediately immersed in their world, through the trials of living in rural Alaska and the sacrifices each character makes to prove their love for the other.
The new characters were welcome, and I loved seeing Calla interact with those around her, opening her eyes to different perspectives and learning what it means to be a true neighbor and Alaskan.
The struggles that Calla endures as she tries to find her place felt so genuine, raw and real. Going through something similar (although my move was to sunny LA for my husband), I related to her inner dialogue as she fought to remain steadfast in her new life and not doubt her decisions for the man she loved. And every time she expressed her feelings, Jonah was there to reassure her, to encourage her, to challenge her. Her perfect match. Sometimes I wish we had more from Jonah's perspective, but I'll take every morsel I can get of these two. Crossing my fingers for a third book focused on this favorite couple!
Please do yourself a favor and read this book, but read The Simple Wild first! It's a true sequel. I cannot recommend this beautiful story enough.

REVIEW | ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Wild At Heart by KA Tucker

The Simple Wild is my ultimate favourite contemporary romance. When I found out there was going to be a sequel, I was beyond stoked. I already knew Tucker could write anything on J&C and I’d love it no matter what!

Needless to say I loved Wild At Heart. It picked up right where TSW left off. Given this book is a true sequel, it doesn’t follow your typical romance formula. It almost read a bit like a women’s fiction, showing how Calla navigates loss, moving from home and starting a new life with Jonah. Tucker did an amazing job at illustrating the “after the happily for now”. Not only did we get more of J&C’s relationship as a couple, but we explored the idea of starting over and finding happiness with yourself, not just in a person. I loved seeing J&C’s growth in trying to compromise their drastically different lifestyles and communicate in a healthy way. Jonah had me swooning even more- and this book truly gave a look into how book bf/husband worthy he is. Be prepared for some adorable lines, continued banter, and some light, fade to black steam 🔥

I also want to give a shoutout to the amazing minor characters, Zeke, Bandit, Roy and Muriel. They were written so well and were so enjoyable. I have a lot of feelings about Marie too lol. As a Canadian, I also appreciated the reference to a northern Ontario feel with their new community of trappers crossing.

All in all, this book had me on an emotional rollercoaster. I wanted to cry happy, frustrated, sad, and worried tears all in the 5 hour span it took me to read it 😂

Massive thank you to KA Tucker, Social Butterfly PR and Netgalley for access to this ARC. I can only hope we will get more of this world in the future.
