Whew! Where do I even start?! The Simple Wild is my favorite KA tucker book of all time (never thought anything would top Four Seconds to Lose!) but we were kinda left off with an open ending.. So when she announced they were getting another book I was beyond excited and a little scared!
This was an amazing sequel. I loved getting to know Calla and Jonah in this new setting with them actually starting a life together. Seeing Calla grow so much into her own after being pretty dependent was awesome to watch. Wild at Heart was a decent amount more light hearted than The Simple Wild and I was glad for that.
Ps. If KA Tucker wants to make this a trilogy I’d love another book!

I was a big fan of The Simple Wild so I was unbelievably nervous to read this book. Oftentimes a sequel doesn’t live up to its predecessor simply for the fact that you don’t have the “will they/won’t they” feeling again like the first book produced. I was so incredibly happy to have all my fears assuaged. This book was incredible. It brought back all of the same feelings and it was as if no time had passed, I slipped right back in with my favorite characters and even fell in love with new ones.
Absolutely amazing sequel and I could not have loved it more. I finished satiated and blissful.

I was fully invested to throw myself back into Calla and Jonah's story as soon as I closed The Simple Wild. I was so stoked to be reading this sequel. I will fully admit that the only reason I didnt finish it sooner is because we have company.
I was fully engaged in this story. I had a terrible sense of foreboding during the entire book. I was certain that something terrible was looming. KA Tucker did a wonderful job of building that angst. I shed tears of frustration, sadness, and joy in this book.
This was the absolute perfect way to continue my love of the main characters. I also appreciated the way the author created a few new characters and we were able to get to know them as well. Im looking at you Roy! This was a job well done. I'm not sure if more is to come, but if it is....can we have it soon?
This was an advanced readers copy and all opinions are that of my own. Thank you @katucker @socialbutterflypr and @netgalley for this read. You can find it available on February 18.

KA Tucker is a phenomenal writer and one of my all time favourite authors. The first book I ever read by her was The Simple Wild (Wild #1) and from the first page, I was hooked. Since then, I have read many more of her books and the result is always the same: my complete captivation and awe of her stories and storytelling abilities. Wild at Heart, sequel to The Simple Wild, was no different. I started this book at 8pm, thinking I'd get in a little reading before bedtime, and ended up staying up until 4am to finish it. Getting up a couple of hours later to run errands was painful but totally worth it - that's how much I loved this book.
After reading and loving The Simple Wild, I knew I wanted a sequel but it wasn't until after I finished Wild at Heart that I realised how much I needed one. In the first book, Calla goes through a tremendous amount of personal growth as she leaves her naivety and comfort zone behind and becomes the person she was always meant to be. She experiences love, loss, family and friendship and she understands the inner strength that is required when living in an isolated, rural area. However, its ending leaves many unanswered questions about where Jonah and Calla go from there. Wild at Heart provides those answers and so much more.
Calla's personal journey continues as she and Jonah decide to sell Wren's houses and move to Trapper's Crossing, a small rural town outside of Anchorage. For Jonah, their place is a dream: large, open property with its own private landing strip, quiet town away from the noisy big city and suburban life, and lots of exciting new flying opportunities. For Calla, it's very nearly hell as she spends days alone away from her family and friends while Jonah's working. She feels lost and confused, and bulldozed around by the force of nature that is Muriel. It's a long and bumpy journey for Calla as she struggles to find a role in her new life and continues to grieve for her father but Calla is stronger than she gives herself credit for.
I thoroughly enjoyed Calla's continued character growth and the new friends she makes along the way. In this novel, I felt (and appreciated) that Tucker really stresses the importance of home being a person and not a place. For Calla, the feeling of home became less about where in Alaska they lived and more about the life she made with Jonah - which I absolutely loved that. And speaking of Jonah, he is still as swoon-worthy as ever. His love and care for Calla is unparalleled and he will always be one of my all time favourite heroes.
This sequel was such a wonderful, powerful experience and I cannot wait to read it many more times in future. There were parts that made me laugh and many more times that had me in tears; but for the whole story, my heart felt so full of love for each and every one of these characters. This is a story that is going to stick with you long after you turn the last page.

“I love seeing this.” I curl my gloved hand around his. “Thank you.” Is this what life with Jonah means? Will he whisk me away to remote places and show me awe-inspiring wonders? Things I had no idea about and things I may have heard about but but never realized how much I would appreciate? Because if that’s the case, I’ll never get enough of this new life with him.
It’s fine. I’m fine. I just have the most head -pounding book hangover of all time….but I’ll be fine.
Wild at Heart was my most anticipated read of 2020, and when you get the ARC of your most anticipated book of the YEAR, you throw everything else away and read it!
Have you ever moved to a new place and felt so lost, amazed, alone, happy, confused, homesick, and every other emotion possible for your heart to feel? That is how I felt reading this book. KA Tucker has done it again. She has captured the pristine beauty of the Alaskan frontier with such poetic ease that it made my mouth water, and consumed my heart with wanderlust.
I was wondering as I started this book if any newly introduced characters could live up to Wren,(who I miss, by the way, because, YES, it IS possible to fall in love with a fictional man!) Agnes and Mabel, but I found myself falling in love, yet again, with them all. The Curmudgeon was my favorite, he captured my heart with his mean, stubborn personality, and found that he was easily my favorite character in the book.
Wild at Heart is a slow burn, with delicious morsels of love, adventure, and new family scattered throughout so perfectly, that it had me wanting more. I finished this book in ONE DAY, I could not put it down, and I have the WORST book hangover of all time, wondering if there will be a novella sequel soon, so we can catch up on Jonah and Calla’s new life they have built together.
It is rare that I find a book that elicits such feelings within my heart, and I found myself laughing, crying, and on edge more than once throughout this book, especially when it came to the BEARS! I love that Calla has found her own voice, strength and purpose within Alaska and her new home!
Wild at Heart is just as amazing as The Simple Wild with complex, fun, lovable characters, a beautiful setting, and a love story that will make your heart swell as you realize you have fallen in love with everyone in the book...again!
I 100% recommend this book, It will leave a lasting impression on your heart that is not easily shaken.
Wild at Heart will be available on 2-18-20. I hope you pick up this book, and I hope you love it as much as I did! Let me know, I would love to talk about it with you….or ANYONE! Yes, it was that good.

This is the sequel of The Simple Wild... You need to read it before reading this one to understand and know the background of the story and it's characters.
I had to re-read the last chapter from The Simple Wild before starting this book. I've been waiting for this a long time—probably almost a year, lol.
This book will show you struggles of uprooting yourself from what's familiar... the struggles of not having a comfort zone... the struggles of a new relationship... the doubt & fear of practically starting over again while dealing with grief at the same...
I love Jonah and Calla... as I was reading I kept on thinking to myself I wish I have a Jonah. I love that he'll fight for her and will always choose her no matter what happens... and Calla is this kind-hearted and strong-willed woman. They balance each-other. Every relationship is not without problems...
I love the story. It's relatable, raw and vivid. You can feel the happiness, the doubt and the pain with every word... the flow of the story is seamless... each character, even the supporting cast can hold their own.
Does it have a book three though? I wish there was. I want to read about Jonah and Calla finally starting a family. I thought there was going to be an epilogue but I was wrong.... I felt like I was left hanging... or its probably just me wanting to read more about them.

This is like a readers dream come true! A sequel that I thought that would never see the light of day! Picking up where A Simple Wild left off, we follow the ups and downs of Calla and Jonah's relationship in Alaska. Calla starts to wonder what to do after being a few months in Alaska to make her life worth something instead of starting to feel trapped like how her mother had. She also gets into an unlikely friendship with "a grumpy old man" named Roy in which his backstory is so sad. Though towards the end was definitely bittersweet because I wasn't ready for this story to end, but was grateful I got a follow up with one of my favorite couple in this book. I can't help but wanting more!
I received this book at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

This is one of my most eagerly anticipated novels of 2020, once I heard KA Tucker was self-publishing the sequel to The Simple Wild- a continuation of Calla and Jonah’s love story.
While this novel has less of the outside story (from The Simple Wild, it was Calla’s reconnection with her father, Wren), it does have more of Calla’s growth.
In typical KA Tucker style, I found myself awake at 2:30am in the midst of the story, wanting to know more of how this story is going to end. Calla has moved herself to the gorgeous Alaska wild, with Denali has her backdrop, in a chase for her happiness with the one who holds the key.
Life isn’t easy in a new town, let alone a new town in Alaska, but Calla is surrounded by a beautiful cast of characters developed with their own loss and struggles, poised to be her go-to TRIBE when she needs them most. My favorite? Roy, due to his complexity, of course.
I loved reading the continuation of Calla and Jonah, as they brave a new, beautiful adventure outside of Anchorage, and @katucker I find myself deeply craving a series, as life continues for Calla. Please tell me #bookstagram can persuade you to write more!

**Review will be posted to my blog/goodreads/instagram February 19th, I'll update this page at that time!**
MY HEART.
I stayed up way too late to finish this book because I was on cloud nine that I received an ARC for this book. One of my most highly anticipated books of 2020 and it did not disappoint.
I know some people won’t love this second book because it’s not the angst filled romance that The Simple Wild was. This is what made me love this book in its own way. Watching Calla and Jonah having to work together and actually get a chance to be a couple. I was waiting for this book to destroy me and I had my throat in my heart so many times as I read this.
Calla was still a great character. I loved her arc from book one and really loved this one too. She had a lot to go through moving to Alaska and being by herself (yes, Jonah is there, but it’s still far away from family/friends) for the first time. I really felt and understood her emotions. Jonah was still my favorite gruff bush pilot. Yet I got to see a whole new side of him. He was much more open and had more emotions on the surface that I was SO HERE FOR. I love both of them opening up about their struggles of figuring out life in the wilderness together.
There’s not the romance in this book that you’re expecting. Don’t worry. There’s plenty of steamy moments, but it’s one of a couple expressing love to each other and holding on to the connection they know they share. What I love about them though is that there was actual COMMUNICATION between them. They both would hold on to emotions and thoughts too long (as we all do), and after an outburst would actually have a constructive conversation about what was happening. I desperately was holding onto the fact that I knew there must be a happy ending by the last page. I wanted more Calla and Jonah throughout the book. The lack of Jonah at times made the conflict resolution that much more satisfying.
The Roy story line seemed a bit random at first to me. I didn’t know quite where it fit into everything else until close to the end as I got to know the entirety of the background behind him. I can’t help but love grumpy old men who are softened by something. Calla was that something. Her tenacity to just be there for him made their tentative friendship something strong.
I am obsessed with the writing about Alaska. To me, it really is a mythical place and somewhere I had never considered visiting. The description and love of their home that is depicted through all of the characters makes me want to visit someday (though I can’t say I would ever get into one of those tiny planes, NOPE). The flow of the story kept a steady pace. I liked that it would move through months at a faster pace yet the chapters never seemed rushed.
That ending was everything I didn’t think I needed. I love the sweet tenderness between Jonah and Calla. Love that Calla had really given Alaska a chance and were becoming a true part of the community. I felt wholly satisfied with the conclusion and am so thrilled we got this sequel.
Overall audience notes:
Contemporary romance
Language: some strong throughout
Romance: everything from kisses to love scenes; scenes being fade to black to mildly explicit
Trigger warnings: plane crash

It was so good to be back with Calla and Jonah. Wild at Heart is a continuation of Simple Wild and picks up right where it ended. Calla has to get used to a new life and this time it’s permanent and in Alaska with Jonah. This is the story of their new life together and taking their relationship to the next level. It’s not as easy as it seems when Calla doesn’t have her social network around her except Jonah. Also when his passion is flying it doesn’t leave much time to them being a couple. Something especially Calla has to learn. What is always obvious and present is their love for each other. I enjoyed seeing how these two navigated through the those struggles.
Calla meets people who slowly become her friends and I liked those friendships. Especially the one with Roy. Agnes, Mabel, Calla’s parents and her friend Diana are present too in Wild at Heart and I appreciated that cause they’re so important to Calla and Jonah too.
Wild at Heart is a wonderful sequel which captures Alaska beautifully. It was a joy to see this couple grow especially Calla. I swooned and laughed. There’s a reason why I got so infatuated with this couple. K.A. Tucker has created a fabulous sequel and I couldn’t be happier.

When I heard that there would be a continuation to the story of Calla and Jonah I was extremely happy to be able to see a little more of these characters that won my heart. And I think KA Tucker did an excellent job on this story, it certainly gave me everything and a little more than I expected from the journey of these characters.
I fell in love with this book and again with Alaska. Once again the author brings a story that touched my heart with fluid writing, passionate characters, a setting to envy and a well developed and realistic plot.
In Wild at Heart the author gives readers what I missed in the first book: what happened after HEA, how Calla and Jonah deal with this new chapter in their lives. Here we see how Calla has matured since the first time she was introduced to readers and it was great to be part of that growth. We see a passionate Jonah creating a new chapter of his life with Calla. We see these characters having to give up things in order to meet them on the way.
Calla and Jonah are great characters and I loved how the author worked on their relationship here. I loved seeing them create a universe together and learn each other's needs. Their story was not one of roses and hearts, but it was true and I loved being able to follow it. I found myself cheering, vibrating and laughing reading the book.
Wild at Heart will surely go to my favorites list this year for bringing a fantastic story that won my heart and left me with a smile on my face.

Calla moves to Alaska. For Jonah. For their relationship. While Jonah is out working, and by working, that's flying for most of the day, Calla struggles with this reality of being alone. And, in turn, struggles with finding her place in a small Alaskan town that couldn't be any more opposite from her home in Toronto. How does her journey all play out?
WOW. When you have a fear that sequels don't always live up to how great the original was, well, fear no more. Wild at Heart had just the same amount of heart - from the banter to the chemistry to the oh so vivid descriptions of the people and the town; the connection was not at all severed from The Simple Wild. There were unforgettable supporting actors, cameos of those from before, and I just couldn't get enough of it. I loved them all! I also felt more connected to Calla, and I admired her so much in this one. Though I didn't get full on waterworks this time around, I still teared a couple of times and I laughed a bunch (especially one scene with Zeke).

Wild at Heart picks up right where The Simple Wild left of. Jonah and Calla are ready for their new adventure, with Calla agreeing to move to Alaska so her and Jonah can be together again. Reading about these two again was like revisiting a favorite couple. I simply could not get enough. I loved their journey together and the little things that make up a couple - whether that was making small trivial decisions or the hopes and dreams that couples have together that you don't really see in romance books.
At the heart of Wild at Heart is the love story between Jonah and Calla. I loved the fun and witty banter between the two. Jonah's bluntness is still very much there - which resulted in quite a few funny scenes. But there was also a new vulnerability and tenderness between Calla and Jonah, now that they were starting their new life together. Everything that they do revolves around their love for one another. It's the hurdles that they don't expect that are the hardest.
As with The Simple Wild, I feel like KA Tucker does such a great job with weaving in the secondary characters of a book. In this case we get to meet a few members of the community where Calla and Jonah now live. There were funny moments, heartfelt moments and moments that had me fighting back tears. By the end of the book I came to love Muriel, Roy and Toby just as much as I love Agnes and Mabel.
Just as in The Simple Wild, KA Tucker is able to bring her story full circle. With each character playing a valuable role in Calla's journey in Alaska. I was honestly so sad when the book ended, because I could read another 10 books about Calla and Jonah's adventures in Alaska. Thank you KA Tucker for writing such a wonderful followup to The Simple Wild!!
Wild at Heart is book #2 in the Wild series. I would definitely advise reading book #1 The Simple Wild in the series before picking up this book.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author.

A true sequel is never an easy thing to do. We, the readers, often feel like a great book should stand on its own, and doesn’t need a sequel. But then there is a couple like Jonah and Calla, where one book is just not enough for me – I want more. And this time I actually got MORE.
I’m happy to say that the author couldn’t have written a more perfect sequel for this couple.
It had everything I wanted, and needed. More relationship growth between the main couple, an even stronger connection and the same wonderful chemistry between Jonah and Calla. Jonah’s trademark bluntness, and Calla’s need for making friends. This book was written for all the fans of Calla and Jonah.
It’s a feel good novel. Located in a picturesque area of Alaska. It’s the Alaska we all dream of and wanting to visit. A log cabin on a lake. A great group of friends. Grumpy and nosey/pushy neighbors that become amazing supporting characters, and of course some adorable animals.
I’m telling you, this book had it ALL!!! At least all the things I enjoy in a romance. A story that keeps me smiling, grinning, and laughing and NO tears this time.
I loved how the book was filled with growth, personal as well as relationship growth. The story was filled with new and old friendships. The focus was on friendships and family, building something new, and finding a happy place. In the end Wild at Heart is a bit more light hearted, and less emotional than TSW, but I think Calla deserves that after everything she went through in book one.
For me, this novel was a feel good book from start to finish. And in the end, I was left with a feeling of wanting even more books about Calla, Jonah and their Alaska adventure.

When I heard that KA Tucker was writing a sequel to The Simple Wild, I was ecstatic. Normally when there’s a “sequel” to a romance book, the author shifts the focus to a side character and expands upon his or her story. But in this case, we were getting more Jonah and Calla and I WAS HERE FOR IT. (And when she moved up the release date from March to February, I did a little happy dance.)
The Simple Wild is one of my favorite enemies to lovers romances, and while I was satisfied with the way it ended, to pick up where we left off was a dream, and pick up RIGHT WHERE WE LEFT OFF WE DID. Jonah has declared that Calla has ruined Alaska for him, and Calla can’t imagine a world without Jonah--so she packs up her many suitcases and travels north, this time for good.
I loved watching Calla and Jonah settle into their new life together in Alaska. Their love sprang up quickly and fiercely in The Simple Wild, but in Wild at Heart we get to see the roots develop. They are such different people with such vastly different life experiences and goals that it was obvious to me that there were going to be plenty of challenges to overcome before their happy ever after.
From the small bumps in the road to the giant hurdles they had to cross, I was rooting for them the entire way. The issues they faced--breakdowns in communication, different expectations, insecurity, pride, etc.--felt incredibly real because they are the issues EVERY couple has to face at some point in their relationship. It was completely relatable and refreshing to watch a couple work to make it work.
I wasn’t sure how I would feel about a book without Wren because he was such an important part of their story, but I felt like Tucker really honored Wren and his memory in this new chapter of Jonah and Calla’s story. And while the grief is still very much present, with the passing of time Calla is able to more fully process her loss. Actually, Calla grows and changes in many important ways over the course of the sequel, and I love watching her gain confidence in herself and her relationship with Jonah.
In telling more of Jonah and Calla’s story, Tucker also introduces a whole new cast of side characters in the new little town they settle into. I wish Agnes and Mabel were more a part of this story--I missed how much the little group felt like a family--but I’m pretty attached to these new characters now, too. I wish the story had been about a hundred pages longer because I wasn’t ready to say goodbye to Jonah, Calla, and the rest.
If I’m being honest, a few plot devices felt recycled, but I GOT MORE JONAH AND CALLA, so I am not complaining, not even a little bit. Bottom line: KA Tucker delivered a doozy of a sequel, and if you loved watching Jonah and Calla fight WITH each other in The Simple Wild, you NEED to watch them fight FOR each other in Wild at Heart.
Have I mentioned that now I really want to go back and visit Alaska again? There’s really no place in the world like it.
Thank you to NetGalley, KA Tucker, and Butterfly PR for my advance reading copy of Wild at Heart in exchange for an honest review.

If you haven’t read The Simple Wild go do that and come back as this book is a full on sequel.
So I loved The Simple Wild but I happened to come across it at the Library and read it before I got on the gram/blogging, early last year. I loved it for the story line, rural Alaska, Tucker’s writing skills, but one small thing Calla- she bugged me a LOT. I think in romance especially if one of the leads you just can’t see yourself in/liking even remotely it can be hard. (I’m a farm kid, Return Peace Corps Volunteer, hates pink, and now digs in the dirt for my career aka the 180 of her) But like I said I loved the book I mean I keep looking at jobs in Alaska loved the book!
Wild at Heart comes out the 18th, if you can’t read The Simple Wild go read it this weekend. Come back and go pre-order this one and let also hope we have book 3 coming with cough cough Toby?!?
Calla grew and still bugged me but sooo much better for me. I didn’t cringe this time as much! She got dirty, learned, failed, grew up, and became herself all over again!
New side characters you will love! I mean Tucker can write people in no time but Roy, Toby, Mariel are just amazing. We have some of the oldies back but man character development is on point in this book.
Setting is what makes her books so good. You can feel them so much and understand the communities so well. This I think got even better and Alaska should be sending her checks for the amount of us wishing or traveling there in the next couple of years.
Jonah is still the hot viking flying yeti that we all drool and swoon over! He also grows and get vulnerable for them. The one thing I love about this story is the real life issues they face and work forward from. I think that’s one of the reasons this book will be loved it that we can see our relationships and the work it takes to make them in this book.
This book is brilliant, what I was hopeful for and yes, lets all move there! Thank you Tucker for another romance that makes me read and love them, and moves the genre forward!
{Thank you for the eARC | @socialbutterfly_pr @katucker_ and @netgalley }

Thank you to Social Butter PR, KA Tucker and Netgalley for a copy of this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
In this highly anticipated sequel to The Simple Wild, Calla Fletcher takes a giant leap and moves to Alaska to be with her handsome bush pilot boyfriend Jonah. While living in a log cabin with acres of land surrounding them, she struggles to find her purpose in this foreign land. With Jonah gone more than he's home, she's left to fend for herself as she deals with dangerous wildlife, one neighbor who is determined to turn her into a true Alaskan and another who is ready to shoot her any minute. Soon, she's wondering if she's doomed to follow in her mother's footsteps.
Real talk ... I was nervous about this sequel. After loving The Simple Wild so much, I didn't know if this could live up to it, but this. was. beautiful! Once again, KA Tucker makes the Alaskan landscape come alive in my mind and I'm ready to book a trip! I love a HEA ending but few books write about what happens after that - all the disagreements and feelings that couples naturally go through as they navigate a relationship towards marriage. I laughed (loved Calla and Roy's relationship) and I cried and now I'm just sad that I'm finished with this amazing story.

So I may have squealed when I saw the widget for this book in my email, but you should expect nothing less if you've read The Simple Wild (I loved that book). Then I decided to start it at 8:30 once the kids were in bed so I could read part of it uninterrupted, but I'm sure you can all imagine how well that went. One minute I'm 30% in and within normal bedtime range, then next thing I know I've just finish the book and it's 2:30 in the morning. It's been well established that I lack self control when it comes to books so this should surprise noone (I regret nothing😂). So let my actions speak themselves and go preorder this one ASAP!
What I loved about this book:
1. I'll be the first to admit I thought Calla was a tiny bit annoying when I first started reading The Simple Wild, but by the end she had redeemed herself a bit. While she had character growth in book one, it doesn't compare to how much her character grows in Wild at Heart. She is vulnerable, selfless, and relatable as her and Jonah try to make Alaska work for them both.
2. This book takes place in Alaska and the description of the setting alone is enough to make me want to visit. But when Tucker describes the community where they live and how they all take care of each other, I actually started considering moving there. Now I'm not actually going to move there because it gets way too cold for me, but it sounds like a paradise when reading along.
3. The best part of this book is that it is about two loveable characters choosing each other and trying to make their relationship work. So often romance books end after two people find their way together and then the HEA is implied, but Wild at Heart is about a relatable couple who are trying to figure out real life problems. I love reading romances about couples and how they deal with real life issues.
This was an addictive, but enjoyable book with all the sass, chemistry, banter, and adventure I was looking for. I loved The Simple Wild, but LOVED Wild at Heart. Tucker was able to continue with Calla and Jonah's story so perfectly that this book left me wanting nothing other than book three. I NEED a book three, pretty please tell me there will another book.
